You may recall Marilyn Hartman was arrested. A judge put her on probation and told her to stay away from l. A. X. The very next day she was back there, where Police Arrested her again. Hartman admitted to violating her probation. She said she preferred jail rather than seeking mental help. Another side of the growing safety issues in downtown san jose. Gunshots in the heart of the business district. This happened at the corner of santa clara and 2nd street around 9 00 last night. Two bullets hit a western dental building. Witnesses say they heard as many as six gunshots. Now, today, neighborhood Business Owners tell us theyre afraid to go to work. Weve been here 3 1 2 months. Ive had to go in lockdown a couple of times to protect myself and my customers. Theres not much more i can do but call the police and have them do an intimidation walk. Police did not find anyone with injuries after last nights shooting. They did say they dont have any information on any possible suspects, at least at this point. Just into our newsroom, a bizarre knife attack in berkeley. It happened late monday night on an ac transit bus. Police say a man walked down the aisle of the bus, and said, watch this. And started stabbing a woman. The passengers waved down a nearby officer who confronted the attacker with a gun. The victim survived. The officer arrested the suspect. Now to the death of Robin Williams. There are new developments tonight into the investigation into his death. The Sheriffs Department is answering to critics that they revealed too many details in too public of a manner. It included details about williams death that some on social media considered to be too personal. Michael jacksons death in 2009 and subsequent media frenzy and fan frenzy changed the protocol for highprofile deaths. Local officials are encouraged to release more information rather than less now. The Sheriffs Department said in an email, quote, frankly, it would have been our personal preference to withhold a lot of what we disclosed to the press yesterday. The public records act does not give us that kind of latitude. Social media has driven Robin Williams daughter to drop her account. She and others shocked by offensive messages that she received after her fathers death. Shes 25 years old, said shes leaving her twitter, tumbler and walking away. Two sent her insults and disturbing images, including a photoshop image of her fathers corpse. Twitter has suspended two accounts. School districts around the bay area and across the state are bracing for hundreds of new students that they werent expecting. Thousands of children who fled Central America are now enrolling in local public schools. These undocumented and sometimes unaccompanied children also come with special challenges for these local schools. Christie smith is in oakland this evening where the School District is expected to hire a special consultant to help with these kids. Reporter many of these young people were talking about are awaiting hearings in immigration court. Theyre not here with their parents. And they have health care issues. A language barrier. The open unified School District thought the quickest way to handle it was to get a point person onboard. At east bay sanctuary kof nantd in berkeley they have experienced handling people fleeing from Central America into the u. S. Were seeing more children. Were seeing more people fleeing gangs. And thats a problem. Reporter they offer Legal Services and expect to get new referrals from oakland public schools. They identified unaccompanied child. They will talk to us, and then well interview and see if there is some remedy. Reporter Oakland International high normally sees five to ten unaccompanied minors. This year we have 50. Its sort of a five to tenfold increase. Reporter this is the coprincipal, her School Educates students from around the world. But the sudden increase of undocumented young people on their own has changed the need. For these particular kids, their problems are compounded, because they dont have legal status, they may also dont qualify for a lot of the services that refugees have. We dont have all the resources internally currently to meet this surge in demand. Reporter nearly 350 students have enrolled from Central America. 150 believed to be without parents. So oakland unified is looking to approve Grant Funding for unaccompanied and undocumented minor specialists to track the students and connect them to social and Legal Services. The district can provide everything, although we certainly allocate funds for this purpose. Thats why its so important to have someone whos a point person. Plans for a Housing Development is meeting resistance near a gas line exploded in san bruno. They complain the construction noise will contribute to posttraumatic stress disorder. What are they saying, mark . Reporter ill tell you, behind me, this is the area where they want to build 30 new singlefamily homes. Were about a quarter of a mile from where the pipeline blew up. And down there, there are some neighbors who believe the construction of the new homes will cause them to relive the disaster. Four years since this happened. But the fireball that incinerated this neighborhood will be far enough away for those who lived through it. The only thing that was left was the chimney and front steps. Reporter carolyn and charlie grays house was one of those destroyed in the fire. Theyve rebuilt as have many of their neighbors. But they want to stop the construction of a new 30home development. Right up over the roof of the gray house, you can see a chimney. Reporter gray is pointing to the ridge of a hill about a quarter of a mile away. Its the Old Lutheran Church property, a big piece of land that was once intended to be part of highway 380. A developer bought it and wants to put in streets, and 30 homes. Gray says the development is all too much for some neighbors who still meet twice a month in a support group. And thats surprising, four years later. But some of these people are still having regular appointments with counselors. Reporter the developer who bought the land did not return our request for an interview. The architect and city manager are both out of town. But its hard not to know that there is a fair amount of construction going on in the neighborhood, a lot closer to ground zero than the proposed hilltop development. And not every neighbor is up for a fight. Its four years over. Reporter bill and his wife and daughter and their new granddaughter live closest to the proposed project. They are a quarter of a mile away from ground zero, and they are happy that somebody wants to build on what had been vacant lots. Its wonderful. Thats good for the neighborhood. It allows us to house three threecar trains, and each can hold 450 people. Those trains will be a big help when people are leaving the stadium and will need to deploy trains quickly to get them on their way. Reporter and as for tracking the trains yourself, theres an app for that. We also have the mobile ticket app you can download on your fan and you can buy your day pass on your phone. Reporter the city of santa clara is also tapping technology to track traffic. Youll be able to check a number of live webcams to see how many cars are heading to the stadium. Most people, i think, look at it when people come to the events that theres going to be traffic the entire time. There really isnt. People gradually enter the event, so the traffic may not be bad. And something we havent seen at this time of the night in a long time, fogfree conditions in downtown s. F. , and currently 68 degrees. A lot of the cloud cover on monday and tuesday, associated with this storm system that was sitting right off the coast of california. But heres the thing. That storm system is now beginning to push off towards the north. As we head throughout tomorrow morning, that storms going to get out of here. Were starting to see clearing skies, at least throughout the afternoon hours. You can see in the morning well still start with the areas of fog here, right up against the immediate coastline, down the peninsula and for the trivalley as well. It started in walnut creek on august 3rd. According to detectives, a credit card used at a walmart in sacramento was one of the items reported missing from the walnut creek home. Surveillance cameras caught both the man and woman using that credit card. Oakland police need your help tracking down a hitandrun driver. William was struck and killed on the morning of april 26th on telegraph avenue near 51st street. The officers are looking for a white suv, possibly an audi or infinity model. Witnesses say after the driver hit him, the driver got out, checked on the man, then got back into the suv and drove off. If you have any information about this case, call oakland police. A prostitution sting in redwood city, two massage parlors on the peninsula may be forced to shut down. Three Business Owners were arrested. Police say an undercover officer was solicited for prostitution at the new spa on el camino real. This happened last friday. The same thing happened at the aurora spa on broadway during an undercover operation last month. Redwood city police are now reviewing both spas Business Licenses and permits.
