Jose valencia stabbed his exgirlfriend several times and kidnapped the little girl and three hours later he dropped her off at the Sunnyvale Police department. Chris christie. Reporter they say they didnt take their allegation enough, and now there is a task force. These uc berkeley juniors say the hard issue of Sexual Assault is a big topic in college. A lot of us arent really educated as to what do in those situations. Reporter today uc berkeley president Jan Napolitano says theres a new tactic to address Sexual Assault on all the campuses. President obama talked about it too, that our administration doesnt take care of these issues as well as on many other campuses so her doing that is a step in the right direction. Reporter earlier this year 32 students filed complaints against them. There are over 50 universities under investigation. A spokesperson says berkeley is engaging students and survivors. The task force, though, is separate, but does answer federal concerns. The short answer is yes it addresses it and it has been addressing it, but this is not a static problem. This is not something where you write a fancy policy and everybody feels good. Its constant vigilance. Reporter the new task force will include students, two regents, administrators, and advocacy groups. And i hope to see more of that. Reporter now, the task force has already met once by telecom frens. Im told they plan to meet every two to three weeks and give their first reports to the resubsequents in july. The 108 billion budget is the states largest ever but the state also received more revenue than expected in recent months. The Citizens Commission has approve add 2 cost of living increase for lawmakers and state officials. This followed last years 5 pay hike. During the recession years, though, they slashed lawmakers salaries by 18 and took away their state owned car. One week later, an apology. The people who live here say its place to stay, but the conditions are worsening. Recall h Raul Hernandez has nowhere else to go. He calls the san jose jungle home along with about 200 others. Hes lived here for six years and has watched the place become more crowded. Theres more mouths to feed and more trash. Reporter according to a city report, 687 tons of waste have been removed since last year. Its part of a 942,000 project to get people like raul into a home. Our desir is to have everyone in a safe stable housing situation. Were trying to get there. But right now we dont have the Housing Stock and we dont have the resources to get all the thousands of people housed that we have in our community. Reporter alicia says trash crews come around twice a week but its just not enough. She said the smells intense and its not safe. Bathrooms, sanitary. Do a potty port for everyone, somewhere to take a shower. Its not that expensive. Once again this is near the cordelia area near 680 and 80. On this friday, homeowners are evacuated. The fear now obviously is this is going to spread. This is a fouralarm fire but were hearing this will be upgraded to a fivealarm fire in the cordelia neighborhood next to fairfield, 680 and 80. Well check in with our chief meteorologist jeff ranieri. Were watching the wind direction because thats in the middle of a community there. Most certainly. The wind is not helping the firefighters. It is out of the southwest at 20 miles an hour, even gusting a little bit higher. Again, not good news for areas around that. That wind is gusting up. Youre going see some sudden bursts of some wind that still could carry some embers to nearby homes. If you live in that area, you want to watch that very closely. Most of the wind right now is blowing out of the southwest. That would position any kind of smoke or anything from that fire moving off to the north and the east. It involved about 27,000 bay area and california students attending colleges like heal college and others run by corinthian colleges. Corinthian says it could be forced to shut down several schools because the government is delaying Financial Aid for students putting company on the path to bankruptcy. It lost 80 million last year and new student enrollment has dropped 13 . But the school of education says after five letters they failed to produce documents that could clear it of it. They get nearly half a billion dollars a year in Financial Aid for students nationwide. Most cannot attend without this money thats supposed to give them a brighter future. Financial aid is very important to me. Im a single mom and have two kids. Coming to school is expensive. If they were to cut that, i would have no choice but to, you know, reconsider school. It certainly has, raj. We got our live pictures back. You can see this home now fully engulfed right now. That is a lot of fuel right now that could spread to those neighbored homes. Were looking at it. Theyre trying to get handle on this quickly. Theyre trying to get way from the situation. So, yes, a little bit of panic is setting in. If you live near this area of gold hill road on 680, thats where it is most critical right now. A little shred of good news but it is still very gusty. Right now this location of 680 and 80, winds are sustained. Southwest at 18, gusting into the low 20s. If you get a closer fix, you can see its right here to to south of cordelia. Were going to zoom in closer. It may be hard to show up on the large screen behind me, but what you can see is the fire is down here off to the south. The wind is blowing any kind of smoke a little bit off to the north and you can see all of these track homes here in the subdivision that are off to the north. Thats the biggest fear that that fire could hopscotch and spread. So, again, anywhere near gold hill road or off to the north on 680, you need to be on high alert at this point and be ready to potentially evacuate. We dont want to, you know, produce widespread panic here but it is that kind of situation. We have the wind out there right now. You can see in our weekend forecast were looking at wind anywhere from about 10 to 20 Miles Per Hour in the hills above a thousand feet. That is going to keep that fire danger elevated as we head throughout saturday and also sundays forecast. It is a crawl right now but 680 has been reopened. Again, this fire burning for an hour now. At least two homes destroyed. Firefighters still on the scene. Thats good enough. We know this is in an area that is a sub division and there are, you know, dozens if not at least a hundred homes that lie off to the north. So if youre close enough to smell the smoke and you can see the smoke and, of course, if you can see the flames, youre close enough for this to potentially impact you, so you want to Pay Attention to this and the loeshl officials as they come around.
