you some of the high-tech devices tonight at 6:00. in san francisco now there was a pre-dawn raid. police arrested 26 people as they were forcing occupy protesters out of a vacant building at turk and goth streets. several hundred protesters marched to turk street yesterday afternoon and claimed the building which is owned by the roman catholic archdiocese of san francisco. protesters remained in the building overnight before police cleared them out this morning. and more details about the man who was throwing bricks from the rooftop of the building last night. you see the video here. one of the bricks hit another protester who refused medical attention. police say 34-year-old jesses in bit of san francisco was facing charges of aggravated assault and aggravated assault on a police officer and felony vandalism. the search for more victims of the speed free killers continued for a second day today in the backyard of a home in linden. only ten miles from a covered well where remains were found earlier this year. the property includes a house once owned by convicted killer lauren herzog. it's believed investigators may be looking for a missing woman, terry ann fofrper who vanished back in 1996. herzog killed himself after his partner revealed the location of several bone yards to a bounty hunter. there is finally good news for the san jose city budget. the city manager is predicting a $9 million budget surplus the next fiscal year. that means four brand-new libraries that were sitting empty because there was no money to run them is now open. the news comes as a welcome surprise for several parents. >> it's a high school and our kids -- for the homework. >> the city says retirement costs are still a concern, but there is cautious optimism at city hall that the tide is turning. >> dozens of volunteers continued the search for a missing teenager sierra lamar. the klaas kids foundation is leading the effort in morgan hill. the volunteers say they will search areas that may have been missed in previous efforts and it's been more than six weeks since the 15-year-old disappeared. the reward in this case has been increased to $25,000. sierra's mother says it's important to keep the search efforts going. >> well, as long as there are people that are present and they continue coming, it keeps it alive. it keeps the media coming and the coverage continues to sustain us and the volunteers are coming also, you know, lift our hopes. >> the sheriff's dive team used side sonar scanners this week to check several areas in south san jose. the doctor will see you now. those words will be heard by more families in the south bay thanks to money from the affordable care act otherwise known as obama care. marian favro is live to explain. >> reporter: they will receive half a million dollars in funding from the affordable health care act and that means it will be able to serve more patients. >> i'm going to talk to you and your mom for a little bit. i'm going to check your heart. >> reporter: she is getting a check-up at the foothill community health center in east san jose. doctors here see 3,000 patients a month. most of our patients do not have insurance. most of our patients have medical or medicare and besides our clinic they don't have much other choice in terms of health care access. jo but now those patients will have more health care options because the health center has just learned it will receive $900,000 in affordable care act funds and a bulk of that money will be used to open a new clinic here at the corner of pulley and center road in san jose which will triple the number of patients doctors can see. the clinics plan to have x-ray services, eye care and dental care for adults. the health network in san jose will benefit from an affordable care act grant. it will receive half a million dollars and so will the indian health center of santa clara valley. sarah wagner welcomes the expanded care in her neighborhood. >> because that means there's going to be more people that are going to need -- that need help. >> a helping hand when it's needed most. several other bay area clinics will also receive from our san diego station has this bizarre story. >> i do what i have to do to survive. >> reporter: and for daniel chong, surviving his horrifying ordeal inside a 5 x 10 holding cell similar to this one meant drinking his own urine. >> about three times. >> reporter: as nbc 7 first reported chong was detained at the dea office on saturday april 21st following a drug raid at a university city apartment where chong admits he was smoking pot with friends, but he says agents told him he wasn't under arrest and even offered him a ride home. hours later, handcuffed and alone inside a small, windowless holding cell, chong wondered why he was still there. >> it was so inconceivable. they forget you. >> reporter: that's exactly what happened. those hours turned into days, all the while chong says he could hear dea workers and other detainees walking by his cell door. >> i kicked the door many, many times. even my neighbors, i guess, were getting annoyed at me and telling me to shut up, and i hallucinated by the third day and i was completely insane and by that time i was trying to get my sanity back. i didn't care if i died. i wanted to make sense of things. >> by day four, the light his gone out. thirsty and starving, in total darkness, chong said he tried to commit suicide by, he used the sharp edge to carve a message into his arm. i tried to write sorry mom. i gave up on that one. >> on day five, agents finalee opened his cell door, suffering of signs of kidney failure. he was rushed to sharp memorial, on the way he told an agent what he'd been through. he was, like, oh, my god? the dea has since apologized to chong. he's not sure if he'll return to school saying his perspective has changed on life since his isolation. the new een span of the bay bridge is stretching out to a new milestone. the crews are done compressing the one-mile main cable. the cable is made up of 17,000 steel strands weighing a total of 10 million pounds. iron workers on foot bridges are using four massive compactors to compress those strands. the work started in mid-april and once the compressing is done by next week, engineers will begin shifting the weight of the bridge from temporary supports on to those massive cables. >> california state university teachers have voted to authorize a series of two-day strikes if a new contract cannot be reached. negotiations with administration officials have been going on for the past 22 months. the two sides cannot reach an agreement. a csu strike would be the biggest strike of university employees in u.s. history. more than 24,000 faculty are employed on the campus' 23 state -- 23 campuses. this vote doesn't mean a strike will be called and an authorization for the union's lead tore call one if necessary. unions are scheduled to get contract talks back on track. this morning a field trip to the state capital has students and teachers lobbying for education. more than 100 people loaded into busses and headed for sacramento. student, teachers and community members met with legislators to voice their concern concerns over education cuts. this is the tenth annual bus ride for education. tanning to extremes. it could be the image of the day. a new jersey mom who is a frequent tanner is accused of taking her 5-year-old daughter into a tanning booth. patricia kinsel pled not guilty and told a judge it was a misunderstanding. teachers called police after noticing the girl was severely burned. the girl went into the salon with her, but not in the actual tanning booth. >> i'm not going bring my little daughter into a 90-degree bed. i mean, that's not normal. >> the mother says her daughter got sunburned while playing outside on a warm day. new jersey law prohibits anyone under the age of 14 from using a tanning bed. shock and tears across the country, but especially in southern california after the apparent suicide of former football star junior seau. seau was an nfl legend and a driving force in the san diego community, but this morning he was found dead at his beach front home. let's go live to oceanside and joined by gene cub son. you've been a reporter there for 25 years, how shock side that community? ? they are stunned, but there were inklings about a year and a half ago which was the last time i was here outside of seau's house. he had just driven his suv off a coastal beach on to a carlsbad beach following a domestic violence incident involving his girlfriend and people wondered at the time was he trying to commit suicide? he said no, no. he fell asleep at the wheel, but this morning there was no denying junior seau had given up on life. it was this morning when his girlfriend called 911 he had committed suicide by gunshot. his authorities arrived to secure and process the scene and removed his body to the medical examiner's office. the news went viral around the globe and brought seau family members, fans and friends to the neighborhood and of course, the news media. a close personal friend of seau's who doesn't want to be identified told nbc 7 today that he saw junior and junior's girlfriend last night here at the home around 6:00 p.m. he noticed seau hadn't shaved or showered which was somewhat unusual for him, but seau apparently seemed to be in good spirits and he was talking about a new surf board rack in his suv and junior occasionally over time referred to feeling that he was getting old. that his fame and glory years were too far behind him and he was suspecting that some of the people in his circle were trading on his relationship with him and his influence on the community and they didn't really appreciate him just for himself. these revelations were something that he apparently never shared with his mother luisa who poured out her emotions this afternoon. >> junior! why you never telling me you're going? and i pray to god, take me, leave my son alone. no! thank you. thank you so much for everybody. god bless you guys! >> reporter: and we are back live outside the seau residence and according to reports last night seau texted his three children to say love you, but nobody seemed to take it as any kind of a farewell. we've done some checking in the courthouses and found no financial or legal complications that might have led to despair and we've seen nothing to suggest that 20 seasons of linebacking and playing special teams in the nfl brought on concussion or depression issues and that is something that will be sorted out over time by friends and family. reporting live from oceanside i'm gene cubbison. >> i worked for the san diego charges for five years and junior seau was a friend of mine. i wish his family nothing, but the best. my thoughts and prayers. >> so many people heart broken. of the northwest 10 to 21 miles per hour in that slight northerly component is a real warming wind here across the bay area and we have 69 in gilroy and then you head up to san jose and the peninsula, and the temperatures are a lot cooler with 50s to 61 in san jose. we'll take you to the hd live sky-cam ra network and across the bay this afternoon, some haze that's moving in across san francisco and also the mid and high level cloud cover beginning to build in advance of our changes over the next 24 hours. so let's detail those changes that we do expect for you as we head into our thursday. we expect a breezy morning with the increasing cloud cover and the big headline throughout thursday will be the showers developing and then by this weekend we'll get into big time warming coming back. the heart of the storm will still be up in washington and oregon and now ahead of this tomorrow morning, slightly humid and breezy weather expected and eventually throughout thursday we'll find the showers developing. we do think by friday we'll settle into a drying pattern and those numbers will begin to tick up here across the entire bay area. overall the timeline has a few possible showers and also santa rosa by 6:00 a.m. and there will be a slow progression of these showers down to the south and as this cold front continues to march down across san francisco in the peninsula, it will start to break up. we think by 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. we might have drizzle and isolated showers and maybe some for the san jose region and we're still talking trace amounts to many a tenth of an inch. another large storm and overall it will give us a big departure from the warm weather we've had lately. 48 in santa rosa, and 50 in oakland and 50 in san jossy and 49 in livermore and 49 when it comes to our temperatures to start off with and daytime highs with the seasonal averages and 68 in morgan hill. 70 in san jose and 69 in sunnyvalley. cooler for the east bay and still the shred of onshore flow. 65 in blackhawk and 69 in livermore and 67 in concord. for san francisco, 61 out toward the coast and with wind-whipped waves anywhere from 5 to 7 feet with the small craft advisory in effect and one of the coldest numbers on the board today and into tomorrow will be the bay in the mid-50s. we clear out for the showers on friday and look at that trend. how warm will it go? let's get a look here. sunday and monday, temperatures in the low to mid-80s. monday, tuesday and wednesday. that sun is back on out and remember to wear the spf, folks. each if you're headed to a tanning bed, was infected with meningitis bacteria. health officials are investigating the death which happened on saturday after the researcher was exposed to a type of bacteria which then caused the disease. how rare is this case? only 16 cases of laboratory-acquired infections have been recorded worldwide since 1985. >> it's a preemie baby boom. the first-ever worldwide estimate of premature births revealed that 15 million babies a year are born early. in the u.s. the percentage is at 12% which is more than in europe or other developed countries. some of the possible reasons, more older women are having
