Reporter happy fourth to you. Were here at pier 50 where you can see workers with pyro spectaculars by sousa are prepping the four barges for tomorrow nights show that will take place out on the bay. You can see right there theyre positioning the launch tubes. In a couple hours theyll start loading those tubes with fireworks that will be brightening the night sky in just over 24 hours from now. As i mentioned, there will be four barges. Two off pier 39 the other two off aquatic park. The best place is anywhere along the San Francisco waterfront to catch the show. Our question for the shows producer who we just caught up with in the past half hour is how do you oneup yourself from last year . How, he admits its been a few years since theres been a new innovation in fireworks effects. That said, hes come up with a new sequence new music promises to wow the crowds with the roughly 10,000 fireworks that will be blasting off during a short 25minute span. So yeah quite a bit of stuff. And its going off at a variety of different altitudes. We dont focus as much on the big stuff because of the f word, so we try to keep things in the mid to lower range so that if that pesky fog rolls in it doesnt obscure too much of the show. Reporter thats the f word . Thats the f word for us. Reporter hopefully meteorologist kerry hall will be telling us there will be no fog here tomorrow night, but its hard to tell in the city by the bay. Okay. So we asked them how much does the show cost . He said he couldnt tell us. San francisco visitors and Convention Bureau are the ones picking up the tab and hes not willing to divulge that information. He did say hes dedicating the show to his mentor the companys namesake who passed away earlier this year. The show starts tomorrow night at 9 30. This is one of 60 shows that pyro spectaculars by sousa will be putting on throughout the greater bay area. 9 30 tomorrow night. Youll have four barges two off pier 39 the other two off aquatic park. And thats not to mention the shows going on in sausalito and berkeley that you might even be able to see from the San Francisco waterfront assuming theres no fog. Planned at leeo ryan park with fireworks at the end of the show there. Laguna at dusk and berkeley marina. Bob mentioned that. Theyll have food trucks kids activities and live music as well. Police say they still dont know why sanchez allegedly pulled the trigger. Now to a sad end to a summer trip for one south bay area family. A 14yearold boy is dead after a latenight jet ski crash. It happened at bass lake a popular getaway south just south of yosemite. Investigators say kyle farr along with an 18yearold were aboard a ski doo. They hit a pontoon boat. Farr was thrown into the water and later died. Farr and his family are from los gatos. A great family. The kids are very athletic outgoing, a sportsminded family, and this is a terrible terrible thing. In fact this is the second jet skirelated death at bass lake just this week. A north Bay High School track coach faces charges of theft withsex with an underage student. He coaches at novato high school. Hes accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17yearold student who just graduated. Deputies say the girls mother alerted authorities had she discovered suspicious texts. Investigators do not believe there are other victims. Happening today, opponents of californias new vaccine law will stage a demonstration at the golden gate bridge. Theyre calling on lawmakers to repeal that law which requires schoolchildren, public or private, to be vaccinated unless they have a medical waiver. Governor brown signed the bill into law tuesday, and it takes effect in january. Also today, californias puc will vote on a new electricity rate hike. That hike is expected to boost rates for more pg e customers by about 10 a month. Some consumer groups are blasting the plan accusing the puc of working in cahoots with utility companies. Ben chancey was fishing for a goliath grouper in florida, but he hooked a bull shark. The shark pulled on the line so hard, it flips the kayak. Chancey lands on top of the shark and then swam like a cartoon character to safety. Just got to watch out whenever you have those big fish up on the side of the boat. Youve got to be protected because when they decide theyre going to do something, theyre going to do it and you cant do anything about it. Experts say if you find yourself in the water with a shark, it is best to swim away calmly but as quickly as possible. Panicking and thrashing can trigger a sharks instinct to bite. My goodness. I dont think id go fishing in an old kayak like that. Most of us like to say away from Sea Creatures but not one brave diver. He hugged a manta ray caught on camera. Frankie grant got the shot about a month ago off the coast of mexico. Beautiful picture. He says the slippery creature opened up her fins as to give him a hug. And so he just goes for it. I dont know. I dont know what that things going to do. Were all being asked to conserve more water, but one city in Southern Californias so good at it their water supply actually went bad. The city of poway had to dump 550,000 gallons of Drinking Water from a reservoir tank. The mayor says residents have cut their water usage by as much as 45 , but because they werent using as much the water in the reservoir sat stagnant. The mayor says the city is working on ways to prevent it from ever happening again. Its just so sad to think about. It really is. So now as we see the sun shine all across the bay area, our temperatures continue to warm up. Its now 79 degrees in the trivalley and San Francisco at 67 degrees. Mostly sunny skies and headed up to 73 degrees today. Hot in a few spots like the trivalley. Look for a high of 92 degrees today. And a nice day in the peninsula, 82. 87 degrees in the south bay. A lot of events are already starting to kick off. And the wind forecast is relatively calm. And as we go into the rest of the day, the winds turn on shore, kicking up to about 10 to 15 miles an hour. Not really much of a windy day. And i think tomorrow well see more of the same. And were in this pattern where we see the High Pressure drifting off to the east and around that we do have just enough of an onshore flow to bring in some cooler temperatures in time for the weekend. And i though thats welcome news considering. We just had triple digits just a couple of days ago. So the stronger sea breeze could also mean problems for the fireworks. And i know with the low clouds and fog moving in may not give you the best visibility especially right along the coast. If youre heading to the sierra theres the possibility of some thundershowers popping up each afternoon. Lets go hour by hour today in San Francisco. At 2 00 well be at 69 degrees. And during the evening at 68 degrees as you head out to dinner. Mostly clear skies. And then the low clouds by midnight and 61 degrees. In san jose going into just shortly after the lunchtime hour, 80 degrees. 87, though by the time most people are getting off work if you had to work today. And in the 80s with mostly sunny skies tonight. Mostly clear skies and also temperatures dropping back into the 60s. So the one thing that everybodys keeping their eye on is the fog forecast. So we do start out with the fog in the morning at 9 00. And as we get closer to the afternoon, going into the evening, we do see the fog moving back into the bay. And by maybe 7 00 or 8 00 the fog will start to roll into the coastal areas. Something youll want to keep in mind if you are heading out to the big fireworks displays. And as we go into the rest of the weekend, it is going to be very pleasant. Temperatures coming down especially on sunday reaching 76 degrees on sunday in the peninsula. Some homeowners in san joses willow glen want their neighbors to post pictures of what they think are suspicious cars and people on the social media site next door. California boasts the highest number of any individual state, 420,000 people. Well, thats odd. When you talk about 15,000 people the same ash yoeratios that are going to see 15 to 25 in overtime that they work. Is that enough to give a jolt to the local economy . No, absolutely not. Youre talking about the most rarefied economy in the united states, you could say the world. This is a prodigious regional economy. Reporter she filed paperwork with the Santa Clara Valley Water District to be reimbursed for new plants to replace her watersucking lawn and went to the nursery to pick them out. Thats when the nursery owner gave her the bad news. He said your lawn is still green. I said no. We stopped watering when they told us to. He said, uhoh. Youre not eligible. Youre just not eligible. They were disappointed very disappointed and it was pretty stringent about following the rules. Its a hard thing to tell them. Reporter to be eligible for the plant Reimbursement Program residents have to prove they used to maintain a green lawn and theyre giving it up. Its not for someone whos looking to get a deep discount on landscaping their home. But after outrage, the Water District changed its rules. We actually got rid of that rule because we didnt want to encourage people to keep their lawns green just to participate in the rebate program. Reporter if your lawn is recently brown, you can still participate in the rebate. Its very very low water. Reporter he hopes people plant something that gives back. Its now warming up to 79 degrees and 74 degrees for the south bay. So as we get a closer look at the south bay now in morgan hill at 79 degrees, willow glen is 80 and campbell also at 80. And its so nice and comfortable with all of this sunshine as we go through the day, expect highs to warm up to 87 degrees in san jose. Redwood city at 80 degrees. And financial district at 71 degrees. Were looking at some low 80s for napa and also the east bay whilst oakland makes it up to 74 degrees in livermore, today reaching 92 degrees. So still warm in spots. We have a very weak onshore flow. Here we are as we go through the lunchtime hour with very weak winds. And the winds picking up to 10 to 15 miles an hour this evening as still do think well see those low clouds especially along the coast. As High Pressure continues to drift off to the east, it allows for a stronger onshore flow and cooler temperatures as we see our pattern changing just in time for the Holiday Weekend. Which is great news because just a couple days ago, it was in the 90s and hitting triple digits for the inland valleys. If youre heading over to the sierra though keep in mind that temperatures are still heating up. And then we have those afternoon showers and thunderstorms firing up each day. Now, i know for San Francisco, the big story, the big concern will be fog and if well see those low clouds in time for the fireworks to start. It looks like the bay fog does roll out during the early afternoon, but then during the evening, it comes right back in. Well see that all along the coast. So if youre heading to like half moon bay, santa cruz you may have some low clouds to contend with in time for the Fireworks Show. So lets get to that threeday forecast.
