Early this morning the Fire Department found the body of the familys grandmother in a bedroom on the second floor. A firefighter was trying to break through the second floor window and save her. He ended up falling through the hole on the lower roof there. He was taken to the hospital for a hip injury. We have learned that he did not suffer a fracture and is expected to be okay. The fire started around 3 30 this morning. The Fire Department says the downstairs was fully engulfed when they arrived on the scene. They called for three alarms. There were four other family members inside the home when it caught fire overnight. All four did get out okay. Two were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. It was the family who alerted the Fire Department that their grandmother was still upstairs. We spoke to neighbors who had the family over last night to celebrate the indian diwali festival of lights. My daughter and his son, they are in the same class. So he came to greet my daughter a happy diwali and we have a few pictures here. So im just worrying, its very, very sad. Its a diwali night. The Fire Department says so far there is nothing suspicious about this fire but they did call for the arson investigators, which is standard when someone has died. This afternoon the mother of a san jose state Football Player killed by a school bus is expected to speak, along with the teams coach. The 18yearold, camden, mcwright, was on his way to a team meeting. He was riding a motorized scooter when he was hit and killed by a school bus. Surveillance video appears to show camden had a red light when he rode his scooter into the intersection. It happened just two blocks from campus.
