You can see the hillside growing deeper dramatically with the retirement home right next to it. Management says that recent heavy rains have played a role in opening up that cavernous hole. A resident documented the whole landslide and while shes okay shes definitely worried about her neighbors. There are people with hearing and vision disabilities and mental disabilities, and they get frightened very easily so, yes, there are people that are concerned. This is definitely a break as of now as our temperatures have made it into the low 60s and its time to head out there and enjoy. We will see some more wet weather in parts of the bay area tonight. And looking at these temperatures, it is only very slowly warming up in santa rosa, but, hey, look at the south bay. Up to 65 degrees there and morgan hill also at 65 degrees. Looking at highs today topping out in the upper 60s and were almost there in many spots and were going to see a high in San Francisco up to 64 degrees so well be very mild and also perfect weather to head to the as game. Thats coming up in about an hour, so if youre on your way, well see those temperatures at first pitch at 63 degrees, and by the end of the game well be in the upper 60s and heading home and most likely sitting in traffic. It will be at 65 degrees so windows down, and then later on this evening at oracle arena that will also be a great sight with some awesome wet we are, too. Well see those temperatures in the low 60s and by the start of the game were at 62 degrees. A few more clouds moving in late, and thats because of this storm system and right now it is bringing some fairly heavy rain around ukiah or eureka further north but as it moves towards ukiah well see some heavy rain. It really weakens as it continues to move in and becomes more spotty in the south bay and may see next to nothing by the time the system rolls on through, so dont expect a lot of rain in the south bay. It may be visible during the overnight hours in the night sky and the scientists are saying this is 1. 1 million miles away and still too close for comfort, and this is as close as any asteroid has been in over 100 years. Looking at this storm system as continues to approach the coast farther off towards the north, its going to be a very weak system for most of the bay area, even though its producing some heavy rain well to the north of us, and by 11 30 tonight, by the time it makes it into sonoma county, there will be brief heavy downpours, and then we see the system really breaking apart as it advanced over towards napa and San Francisco by 1 30 in the morning. While most people are sleeping, the rain will be falling, and then becoming more scattered as it moves into the peninsula, south bay and east bay. Were not really expecting to measure very much from this storm system. In fact, for the South Barracks the models are not showing anything, and we for the rest of the bay area and areas south of the Golden Gate Bridge may only measure that rain in a few hundreths of an inch. Reporter alexs project began of all places at the thanksgiving dinner table with her family a few years ago. Syrian refugees had been in the news a lot around that time, a crisis half a world away, alex thought, until her mother put it in perspective. Mom said if your grandfather didnt come to this country as a small child, we could all be Syrian Refugees into those refugees were no longer strangers from a distant land, and they needed her help, but how . And so i just asked for help and said what can i do to make a difference for these refugees . And soccer hit my consciousness, and i was like soccer balls. This is the very first ball. Reporter alex knew from her previous travels around the world that a soccer ball can do magic when it comes to breaking down barriers and sparking joy. These are going to go to the camps and the kids. Reporter so she rounded up donations and arranged for 750 soccer balls to be manufactured in pakistan and then delivered to a hotel room in greece where she and some friends would personally deliver them to refugee camps. It was a lot of planning, alex said, that ultimately went just according to plan. We just started play together for the next hour, just a bunch boys came over and the coordinator came over and we started playing and laughing, and it was great. We brought you a football. Reporter alex understands that soccer balls are not necessary for a refugees survival. Still, she says, they can be essential to their lives. She is already planning her next visit, her next donation. I want something thats tough and durable. Reporter just as soon as she finds the perfect ball to do the greatest good. Once on the ground in greece, alex learned about a lot of other needs the refugees and other children had, so next time she returns she will be bringing books as well to donate to local schools.
