So that will keep our temperatures down. As the wind picks up as we go into the afternoon the winds will be about 10 to 15 miles an hour and our temperatures a little bit cooler than average in some spots. If youre heading out to the dodgers versus the giants game at first pitch at 7 15 it will be 64 degrees. And 62 degrees bundle up it will be a cool game and a breezy westerly wind. Going hour by hour in san jose at 1 00 as you head out it will be 74 degrees. And then 79 degrees. And that keeps our temperatures held down. So turning a little bit cooler heading into tomorrow as well as wednesday. Looking over the next seven days as our computer models give us a view of what the satellite and radar could look like, absolutely nothing on there. And we havent had any rain in san jose. And this is usually when we start to enter some months where we do get a little bit more rain. On average we get close to. 2, we havent once again had a drop and then heading into next month on average we get about threequarter of an inch and double that as we go through each month. And our wettest month of course in january before it starts to drop off once again. Hopefully as we go into the next several days we can get a little bit of rain in here. But it pretty much looks dry. And our temperatures will be going up heading into the weekend. So in the south bay on saturday up to 91 degrees rather the north bay. And then the south bay also 91 degrees. Trivalley 92. We will have some 90s to start out the weekend and then drops back a few more degrees heading into sunday. Reporter dr. Fran cogan is the director of Diabetes Services at Childrens National health system, but shes also the one treating patients like emma and molly at their local hospital. One propot group says colorado recently made history making more money from Recreational Marijuana than alcohol. Its a claim that could help make the case for other states. If its true. We take a look in this mornings reality check. Its a debate blazing across the country. States like california weigh the financial benefits of legalizing Recreational Marijuana. Colorado is one of the few states thats already done so. And the big bucks are starting to roll in. At least thats the headline of a new report from the Marijuana Policy project, or mpp, a propot group claiming the Centennial State is rewriting history. Its collecting taxes. The taxes that it has decided to impose on marijuana is bringing in more money than it is bringing in from alcohol. And thats just a game changer. Reporter before policymakers get drunk on the returns, lets look at them. The report finds a haul of 70 million in the first full year compared to a more pedestrian 42 million for alcohol. We ran those figures by joseph henchmen at the Tax Foundation, a nonpartisan think tank in d. C. For the first time in history a state generates more annual tax revenue from marijuana sales than from alcohol sales. Is that actually true . It is true. I dont know how much it tells you, but colorados raised about 70 million over the last year from its Marijuana Taxes. And thats pretty much on projection. Reporter on projection, but also powered by a dare we say psychedelic tax rate. Check out the breakdown from the Colorado Department of revenue. The specialty marijuana sales padded by a 15 excise tax paid by pot producers. So all said and told the total Marijuana Tax rate in colorado is almost 30 . Meantime, the states taxes on alcohol be it for wine, liquor or beer, range from a few cents to a few dollars per gallon. Its worth noting of course that colorado has very high taxes on marijuana and very low taxes on alcohol. So its not like people arent still buying alcohol sales arent still much more than marijuana sales. Reporter in fact, alcohol sales in colorado are still much higher than pot. One reason why the mpp says its not including general sales taxes in its calculations. Maybe theres more money being generated for alcohol if you were to include the general sales tax too. Overall its just the specific special tax is levied on marijuana versus alcohol. They are higher for marijuana. We are generating more revenue from marijuana than alcohol. Reporter or another way to state the bottom line, colorado is generating more revenue from marijuanaspecific taxes than alcohol taxes, but alcohol is still likely bringing the state more money. So the claim is only partly true. And we did ask mr. Henchmen at the Tax Foundation how much money california could make right away from recreational pot. He guessed at least a couple hundred Million Dollars a year. Which sounds like a lot of money until you remember californias budget is over 100 billion. Laura. Very interesting, sam. Thanks. Hes sponsoring legislation to prohibit tvs that can transmit or record your private conversations and send that information to a third Party Without your knowledge. The conversations you have in your bedroom and living room, they should be private. Reporter regarding Voice Recognition, samsungs Owners Manual originally issued this warning, please be aware that if your spoken words include personal or other sensitive information, that information will be among the data captured and transmitted to a third party through your use of Voice Recognition. In a blog post clarifying its Voice Recognition policy, samsung now says it does not report private conversations. The company collects your voice data when you make a specific request of your smart tv, or to elevate and improve features. And that Voice Recognition can be turned off. Shelton hopes thats the case. Not all across the bay are you seeing that sunshine, but as you get a look now across the microclimate you see some spots with some clouds like in the north bay. And then you see it starting to clear as you head towards San Francisco as well as the east bay and peninsula. South bay still has some clouds holding on with temperatures warming up. Expect it to top out into 70s and lower 80s today. North bay up to 83 degrees and San Francisco up to 70 degrees. And some mid70s for the peninsula and south bay. A very light wind at this hour. Into the next couple of hours we wont see much of an increase. Winds coming in from the west. You can tell by the arrow showing you the direction of the wind coming on shore into the afternoon to evening hours our winds at about 10 to 15 miles an hour. It will be breezy if youre out there at at t park at the dodgers versus giants first pitch at 7 15 it will be 64 degrees. And then dropping back into the lower 60s by the end of the game as those clouds continue to move in. Lets take it hour by hour in livermore. 79 degrees at lunchtime. And then jumping into the mid to upper 80s. It will be a warm afternoon and then cooling off nicely for tonight as the clouds roll back in. Our lows dropping down into the 60s by early in the morning. We will also still have the clouds along the immediate coast. This shows you the visibility. And as the clouds continue to move into the east bay we will have start with clouds once again. And then by tomorrow well have a harder time shaking those clouds getting some sunshine. And our temperatures will be down quite a bit as well. For not only tomorrow but the next couple of days because of a system that is well offshore. But still moving some clouds across the bay area thats also given us the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. With all of the colors in the sky and then some nice clouds to kind of paint the landscape. As we go into the next several days we are not seeing any rain in this forecast. And thats really unfortunate because we havent had any in the south bay. You did have some rain for the north bay earlier this month. And this is normally the time of year at least in san jose where we start to get a little bit more rain about. 2 and then up to. 75 next month. And november and december we start to have a lot more rain and hopefully we do get that especially with this being an el nino winter. Of course that has we have to wait and see to see what happens there. Our temperature trend does go down the next couple of days once again because of the cloud cover and the stronger onshore flow. But heading into the weekend it looks like it will be a warm one, at least the start with some 80s and 90s for most of the microclimate. And then heading into sunday we will have it cooling down a few more degrees. So our highs will be in the 70s and mostly some 80s into the mid80s for the trivalley. Sam and laura.
