In all, 19 students were stabbed, some severe enough, their injuries are said to be life threatening. But all are expected to recover. Along with law enforcement, panicstricken parents rushed to the scene. Sadly, it doesnt seem all that unusual. Reporter the rampage ended when a School Security guard and assistant principal wrestled the 16yearold tenth grader to the ground with the Security Guard suffering stab wounds in the process. I think it could have been a lot worse if there wasnt immediate interaction that occurred. Reporter the student suspect was injured too, though not seriously, and police are more concerned in finding out why he did this. Chris clackum, nbc news. A san jose family escaped an Early Morning fire in their house. It broke out on medley drive, near capital expressway and highway 101. And just into our newsroom, youll remember that Southern California family rescued at sea with their sick 1yearold daughter. Well, theyre back in san diego this morning. Heres video of their return aboard a navy rescue ship, just about an hour ago. Charlotte and Eric Kauffman sent out a distress signal last week, 900 miles off the coast of mexico, when their sailboat broke down. On top of it, their 1yearold daughter was vomiting, she had a fever. Rescuers, including those from the 129th rescue wing at moffett field, reached them on sunday. The girl is in stable condition. Naval Officials Say the family will not have to pay for their rescue. More than a month after the Malaysia Airlines plane vanished with 239 people onboard, officials offered some positive news today. But, still, no confirmed evidence of the plane has been found. Nbcs katy tur has more from kuala lumpur. Reporter another break in the search for mh370. Ocean shield as detected two more sets of pings. This is in addition to the two other sets, bringing the grand total to four. Theyve analyzed all of these signals and they do believe that they are consistent with a black box, saying that they are stable, distinct, and clear pulses. I believe we are searching in the right area, but we need to visually identify aircraft wreckage before we can confirm, with certainty, that this is the final resting place of, mh370. What ocean shield is going to do right now is that theyre going to continue listening, continue scanning the area that they are in, hopefully finding anymore sets of pings. The more they hear, the more they can better determine where those black boxes or that missing plane may be. Theyre going to exhaust all possibilities that the batteries on those beacons may still be working. Once theyve done that, they will send the unmanned submarine down to scan the ocean floor. Think of the way you mow your lawn, go up one direction, make a slight adjustment, and go back over and over again, until it spots any potential debris. But this is going to be pretty difficult and it could take some time. Maybe the most telling thing that came out of the News Conference today, because even though leaders are saying theyre being cautious and that theyre not confirming that this is part of mh370, but the most telling thing theyre saying is that they are getting accommodations ready for the family members, that should be ready by the end of this week. Does that mean were going to see wreckage pulled from the water as soon as then . Probably not. The submarine still has to scan. And when they find the plane, if they do, who knows what it will take to get it out of the water. Remember, its very deep down there, three miles deep, theres a ton of silt. So the process of actually getting the plane out could take quite some time. In kuala lumpur, malaysia, katy tur, nbc news. Oaklands annual earth expo just got underway. This year, a big focus on Water Conservation with our states current drought. Nbc bay areas Christie Smith is live in oakland with more, all about the expo. Good morning. Good morning to you, scott. I tell you, this is a very popular place to learn about drought solutions, but theyve got everything that is earth friendly, on down to a woman whos out here, talking about local honey that shes selling. And depending where you live, theyve got a company out here that will actually come out and give you a free energy inspection. This is sort of a kickoff to oaklands earth day later this month. Earth expo is what they call it. Theyve got about 90 vendors out here, nonprofits, companies, utilities, all showing up ecofriendly options, many about water, of course, things like switching out to aerated spigots to shower, kitchen, and bath to use about half the amount of water as a traditional unit. All the way to rainwater harvesting systems. Lateseason storms certainly boosted the snowpack, but its still well below normal. Lots of people are interested, especially because of the drought. And there have been a lot of people in the classes weve been having lately, and ive been hearing a lot of interest on other levels too. Because the rainy season is coming to an end, we need to be realistic that this drought will last into the summer and possibly into next winter. But, again, i mentioned some of the companies out here. Theyre showing off some of their solutions. These are some of them, it looks pretty simple. One is a kitchen spigot, the other goes in the bathroom, but it can cut your water usage in half. Reporting live, Christie Smith, nbc bay area news. And yeah, we do have shower chances, although our rainy season is coming to an end. Well tell you when that comes into the forecast. Our exclusive interview with facebooks chief operating officer, including the one thing women have to do to succeed in the workplace. Do you have a blockbuster idea that you want to pitch to the folks at Google Ventures . Well, if youre in Silicon Valley this afternoon, you can hop in one of these, this is an uber pitch mobile, and you could, very well, get in the backseat and pitch your idea and possibly get out of this vehicle with a check. Maybe you can lean back into the passenger seat. Happening right now, uber giving people on the peninsula the chance to have their big idea heard by a local Venture Capital group. Chase cain live with more on the uber pitch. Good morning. Reporter good morning, laura. Were talking about Google Ventures. Youve probably heard of google, right . And theyre teaming up with uber, one of their previous investments, for a thing called uber pitch. Heres what happens in the next few hours. If you request an uber pitch, you can get in front of one of these guys. This is a general partner, david crane with Google Ventures and you can pitch him your idea. David, this is a pretty exciting idea, right, for you to get to hear these pitches . This is incredibly exciting. I think what im certain were going to see today is passion, with enthusiasm, and lots of creativity. Any guesses as to what kinds of ideas you could hear from people in the backseat . I think well see a little bit of everything. See peek who are focused on software, on mobile, and i think well be surprised and a little bit amazed at some of the creativity well see as well. And how unusual is it that people have the chance to get in front of you at Google Ventures . It is a little bit unusual. The hardest thing is when an entrepreneur is looking for funding to find that person that might have that moment and that time and Resources Available to invest. This might be a little bit of serendipity, but i think its going to be a good match. Lets say you hear just a blockbuster idea, someone gets in the backseat of this uber pitch suv, and they really impress you, they really wow you. What would happen then from that point . No question in my mind, we would love to see them again and maybe again after that. This is certainly a first date, but oftentimes a first day can lead to another meeting and maybe that leads to founding. They could conceivably get a check in the near future if they pitch a great idea . No question in my mind. Were hoping for that outcome today. And how much money does Google Ventures deal with on an annual basis that you can invest . We have about 300 million per year, we have about 1. 5 billion under management right now, not a small fund by any means. We do roughly 50, 60, small early stage investments per year, so it would not be out of the order of possibility that we would find something today that would be a hatch. Reporter fantastic stuff. David crane, we know youre about to hop in this car and go out and hear some ideas. Again, this goes until 3 00 this afternoon in menlo park, palo alto, mountain view, and if you request and get an uber pitch, you might be raiding here with david crane. Everybody running anywhere between 2 to 14 degrees cooler, at this hour, then just 24 hours ago. And it is going to be warm today, but not quite as warm as yesterday. About 10 degrees cooler for most spots. And San Francisco, youll see the most significant cooling with these low clouds clinging to the coastline. As we head throughout the day today, i want to show you san jose, mostly clear, but a little hazy. We have good to moderate air quality. San francisco, you can actually see that deck of low clouds, just banking up against the coast. And right now, were getting a little bit of wind. The sun is out in full force. Youre going to get about 3 to 4 hours of sunshine in the city out there today, before that fog returns by about 5 00 tonight. Temps today work like this. Were going to be in the 80s, upper 70s, 79 for the peninsula, 66 in San Francisco with that cooling trend. And 77 degrees in the north bay. Now, here is the deal. Speaking of inspiration, injured giants fan bryan stow. Got a huge show of support as he waved to the crowd there. He was, of course, severely beaten in a parking lot at dodgers stadium three years ago. Now, as for the game itself, they wasted no time. Brandon bells belting out his fifth home run of the year in the first inning and the giants, they never looked back. They beat the diamondbacks 73. Another strong outing with veteran tim hudson.
