The storm system that brought us the flooding in Southern California over the past 48 hours has produced 5,000 lightning strikes. Thats a lot. Its slow movement again today did help to bring flooding Southern California. You saw my colleague, Fritz Coleman, from our nbc station in l. A. Talking about how much rainfall they got. Three to six inches in just a couple hours time. You put that on top of the drought, the very dry ground, and there was nowhere for the water to go. In lancaster, also near the pass on interstate 5 near the grapevine, storms have lifted to the north and started to dissipate. For the bay area, only a little residual activity coming this way.
