Reporter the fallout from a bank robbery at this bank of the west in north stockton. The violence started around 2 00 p. M. When officers spotted three men walking three female hostages from the bank. We do know it was a violent bank robbery. They were armed with ak47 style rifles. Took three hostages and led our officers on probably a 45minute to an hourlong pursuit. Reporter Police Say One of the robbers stole an employees suv. Here are pictures of that Police Pursuit that lasted close to an hour. One of the hostages was thrown from the suv and taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound. We had two suspects shot inside the vehicle. They were transported to the hospital. We had another suspect who is deceased inside the vehicle along with another person who is deceased that were trying to figure out if that was the third hostage. Reporter from the air, you could see police move in to arrest one of the alleged bank robbers. From the ground, there was no question someone was not getting out of that stolen car alive. New tonight at 11 00, we have learned of a potentially alarming Security Breach at sfo involving a fake security screener. The San Mateo County Sheriffs Office tells us a 53yearold man was arrested after he allegedly posed as a tsa agent and patted down women. The man reportedly intoxicated, directed women into a private screening area where those patdowns occurred. This all happened yesterday afternoon at the security checkpoint in the international terminal. The tsa is now investigating. So far the suspect has only been charged with public drunkenness, but he could face more serious charges, including false imprisonment. Also new at 11, a legal fight over a deadly big rig crash that shut down a major south bay highway last week. Tomorrow attorneys for one of the survivors will file a lawsuit against the Trucking Company and the driver. The client is in critical condition. According to those legal papers, the driver was speeding last thursday. His truck crashed into ten cars, killing a santa cruz man. Attorneys also say the truck was hauling too much weight, and that the company is accused of failing to adequately train singh. Well, the deal appears to be done, but no one seems to be happy. Tonight the Oakland City Council voted to approve a new lease with the as. However, the as are bitter. The Council Approved the tenyear lease extension at the coliseum. However, the as are unhappy that the council modified the deal. The council says it made just minor tweaks. The bottom line, if the as accept the amended deal, it still needs final approval from the county board of supervisors later this month. Now, we should note there is an escape clause in this agreement. The as can leave the Oakland Coliseum as soon as 2018. The team still wants to move to san jose. Terry, the twist here, there is another ymca close by that is still open. So what is the problem . Well, the problem is this. The people who like to go to the one here on page mill road really like this facility. It caters to a more mature crowd, and they like that. What they dont like is the way the y arrived at and then announced this unpopular decision. If youre looking to work up a sweat in palo alto, you can come to the y on page mill road, or be a y executive at this meeting tonight and take the heat from more than 200 members who dont want their y closed. Prosecutor says Surveillance Video shows Alix Tichelman injecting the victim with a lethal dose of heroin and then watching casually, even drinking wine as Forrest Hayes died. Tichelmans Attorney Says she has no motive because he was a consistent customer. He was a lucrative source of income to her. She appreciated his generosity. Tichelman is charged with manslaughter and other drug offenses. Prosecutors say a murder charge could depend on a renewed investigation. Tichelmans boyfriend died last year, also of a heroin overdose. 11yearold and robbed at knifepoint over a bicycle. Santa clara police are hoping Surveillance Video will help catch a kiddie robber. Look at the video. It shows the alleged robber and his friend near a 7eleven Near Washington Elementary School last week. Police say the suspect is the guy wearing the gray baseball cap. After leaving the 7eleven, the suspect allegedly threatened the 11yearold with a knife, taking his bike and then riding off with it. So what now . Death row might be a thing of the past. A federal judge struck down californias Death Penalty, calling it unconstitutional. There are more than 700 inmates on death row at san quinten in the bay area. But this the past 35 years, only 13 people have been executed. The judge says executions are so rare and uncertain that it has become its own form of cruelty for inmates. The Death Penalty in america is cruel and unusual in the same sense that being struck by lightning is cruel and unusual. Victim advocates are fuming over the decision. They want a referendum from voters that would fix the broken Death Penalty system. Todays ruling has Immediate Impact on executions statewide. They have stopped since 2006 because of problems with lethal injections. Well, it could be a local answer for a national crisis. Bring them here. Thats the message from south bay lawmakers for the thousands of immigrant children caught in the middle of a national debate. The south bay congressional delegation sent a letter to federal authorities alerting them that the children are welcome in santa clara county. Since october, thousands of kids and their mothers have traveled from Central America to the united states. As they await the Legal Process to be sent back home, many of them have faced protesters like in the town of murrieta near riverside. Our objective is to make sure that if the federal government is in need of support, that the county is prepared to offer it in the most humane and dignified way that we can. But now this new span . Reporter well, jessica, the rails up there on the new span of the bay bridge are low enough for drivers to see over and enjoy the view. Theyre also low enough for people to hop over. And Suicide Prevention advocates say its a dangerous design. Im more than a little appalled. Simply because its so easy to raise a rail. Reporter dana and mark say its an outrage the new eastern span of the bay bridge doesnt include suicide barriers. The east bay couple is part of the bridge rail foundation. The group advocating for a suicide net on the Golden Gate Bridge. Their son matthew jumped from the Golden Gate Bridge to his death in 2007. They say the new bay bridge with its walkway and low rails provides the same access. Im not at all surprise. The bay bridge has a history of suicides. So its just it was just a matter of time. Reporter the chp says the man was driving westbound on the new span around 9 30 this morning. He pulled over on the shoulder and hopped the rail. Security workers monitoring cameras dispatched an officer who arrived in seven minutes. Stopping his car at the center divide, climbing over the bridge railing and walking the platform to the opposite lanes, running through the lanes of the opposite traffic, putting himself at great risk to get there in time. Reporter the chp was not able to stop the man. The whitmers say higher rails probably would have. Make it so they cant climb. How hard is that . Thats the frustrating part. If you do it when youre constructing the bridge, its going to cost so much less than doing it after the fact. Weve learned that with the Golden Gate Bridge. Reporter the metropolitan supports installing a suicide net on the golden gate. The Agency Spokesperson says Suicide Prevention was considered in a design phase of the bay bridge. You cant build a bridge in the bay area and have the golden gate next door and have the subject not come up. Reporter but barriers were not included. Reporter if you think everything happens for a reason, the last two weeks of heidi crouchs life may convince you. We find of feel like this is the story of miracles, and the miracles started that night. Reporter on july 3rd, john and heidi crouch were hosting a get together with their neighbors in morgan hill. Heidi wasnt feeling very well and went to bed early. Later that night, it happened. There was an accident out front. And it awoke her. Reporter a car crashed near their home. Her husband john, a sunnyvale dps fireman ran out to help. Heidi wanted to assist. Came out from the house with johns medical bag to see if he needed that. Reporter he soon would. Paramedics arrived when everyone you would want for a medical emergency was in one place, heidi walked up her driveway and collapsed. Thankfully, between standing between two people so she didnt hit the pavement. Reporter heidi had a brain aneurysm. The 33yearold mother of two was then flown to Stanford Medical Center for surgery. Her parents clark and Joan Firestone flew in from oregon. There were moments i think when both of us thought this was going to be it. And that we were probably coming down here to see her for the last time. Reporter doctors told heidis policeman the sequence of events likely saved her life. The odds of an aneurysm patient making to it the hospital and through surgery are slim. Since then, she has had multiple surgeries and was in the coma for eight days, each step more than 1500 people waited for updates on her facebook page. Then heidi woke up. It was never expected for her to come to out of a coma for well over two weeks. Reporter during that time, heidis friend Crystal Warren set up an account for the familys medical bills. And then we launched the page i think around 7 00 that night. Before i went to bed, there was already 12,000 in the account. Reporter tonight that number is approaching 100,000. But thats not the only thing that poured in. Heidis family is also thankful for the gift of prayers. And every positive step we believe is solely because of the prayers that have come in for her. Reporter the road to recovery will be a long one. You may not think heidi crouch is lucky after hearing her story, but her friends and family believe what happened that night happened for a reason. Now, there is no solid prognosis for heidi. Doctor say aneurysm patients respond and progress differently. But her policeman is very hopeful. Some health news now. Maybe mai be doing more harm and that good. New evidence has cardiologists rethinking treatment with niacin used to control cholesterol. A study by Northwestern University shows niacin does little to reduce heart attacks and strokes when its paired with statins. Researcher says that niacin may also be linked to other Health Problems like infections and diabetes complications. Doctors say Lifestyle Changes may be the best way to control cholesterol levels. San franciscos soda tax is one step away from going to voters this november. The citys budget and finance committee today voted unanimously to pass the soda tax measure on to the full board of supervisors. The proposal would put a tax of 2 cents per ounce on soda. That amounts to a case of soda fog for about 6 to nearly 12. Supporters say the plan will raise up to 52 million a year for nutrition and health programs. Even some across the sierra as early as this afternoon. Its all coming in with the southerly air source. So as listening as we get a southerly wind, it helps to increase the humidity across the bay area. And again, bring us some humidity. It looks like that southerly wind will stay in place a little bit for tomorrow before we start to get some dryer air in here for the weekend. So, again, southerly winds. Hugely equal, more humid air. Then as we head throughout the day, a little bit of a sunnier day expected in the forecast as we head throughout thursday. Getting just a little bit better.
