Neighbors hardly agree. Peggy bunker has more on the leak that lasted nearly a week. This is a lot of water going down the street, wasted water. Reporter gallons of clean water pumping out on to the street in san joses willow glen neighborhood prompted homeowner Brian Johnston to call newsrooms for help after he couldnt get it from san jose water. Johnston says he called the company on thursday, june 19th, and they told him they would investigate that leak within 48 hours. He says they did, but three days later, the water continued to flow. So he called the company again. They said they would get to it as soon as they could. So i started getting mad, and i called newsrooms. Reporter by day four, johnstons neighbors were also getting agitated, watching the nonstop flow of water. One neighbor walked right through his front door. What are you doing, lady . Youre in my house. She said you have a water leak. Are you kidding me, lady . Its on the other side of the curb. Reporter he posted a sign so neighbors would know he was as mad about the leak as they were. By day six he alerted the media which quite clearly seems to have moved things along built. The time we got to johnstons house today after talking with san jose water about our story, their crews were there, fixing the leak. San jose waters bob day say they alert all Utility Companies to a leak first so gas and cable lines can be checked before they open up the street. Yes, its not losing an insignificant amount of water. But we need to follow the safety procedures so that we can repair this thing as quickly in and as safely as we possibly can. Reporter noting that its day six of the leak, bob day says they dont work on nonemere gent leaks over the weekend so today is the first day they could do the work. Its all about public safety. If they called in a leak, we dropped everything, came out and dug up the street and had some catastrophe happen. Reporter well, jessica and terry, it simply means if you are arrest bade Police Officer and he has probable cause, he can search your purse, your briefcase, your pockets, but he cannot touch your cell phone. Three of the four students charged with hazing and harassing their African American roommate in that case will stand trial starting december 1. All are being tried on misdemeanor battery and hate crime charges. A fourth student, though, has been charged as a juvenile. Pleaded not guilty to hazing and racially taunting their roommate last year. It will soon be easier for California School districts to fire teachers accused of criminal misconduct. Governor brown today signed a new law creating a separate expedited process for teachers accused of conduct like sexual abuse and drug crimes. The law takes effect january 1. Two weeks ago a Southern California court struck down teacher tenure laws, but that has no connections to this particular legislation. Clearing for the afternoon, as we transition out of this cool and blustery pattern to one that will eventually start to warm us up. As we get into the weekend, well see this area of low pressure, this trough move on out. And High Pressure building on in starting friday. Boost temperatures a couple more degrees. By the end of the weekend, were talking mid90s. Thats going to carry us through sunday through tuesday of next week. Temperatures could reach as warm as the mid to upper 90s by the first half of next week. By tomorrow morning the low clouds, misty skies possible around san jose. 73 degrees for the afternoon.
