Ryan hansen placed seventh, there were high hopes for shani davis who won silver in the last two olympics. He finished 11th. It is not like im a young pup anymore, im 31. But where there is a will there is a way. I feel there is a lot more i can do better than i did. It is just unfortunate that there is a possibility i might have to wait four years to do so. Well, some today were calling it a disaster for the team. That is because the u. S. Has won more in olympic speed skating than in any other sport. And russia won silver and gold, j. R. Celski wiped out and crashed on the final. And austria took gold and bronze and germany won silver in the super g race. Julia mancuso who lives and trains in tahoe placed eighth today. According to mancuso, the weather did not help. The snow was just melting and it is really soft. So if you missed a line it is really tough to get the really long skis to turn back around and get you back on line. To give her a little credit, though, mancuso already won bronze in the super combined. Overall, 18 athletes failed to complete todays super g race including one american, that is out of a field of 39 skiers. Pavelski has been unreal, unreal, even with the sharks, he has been scoring goals, unreal, completely on fire. Reporter they had high hopes today, and the position today p puts them in a shot for a medal round and quarterfinals. Anything less than gold will be really disappointing. As always, San Franciscos Chinese New Year parade started with a bang. And as always the streets were packed with hundreds of thousands of people. This is our first year. Reporter what do you think . This is awesome. It was worth it. It was worth the trip down here. Reporter but those who tried to get to the parade route on muni had to exit the subway after a man was struck and killed on the tracks at powell station late this afternoon. Police say the investigation determined the man fell onto the tracks. The subway between embarcadero was shut down until about 6 30. By that time the parade was under way. It is considered the larges celebration est celebration of the Chinese New Year outside of china. And that is the year of the horse, the San Francisco mayor ed lee explained it. During those times the horse was the only thing that delivered people and goods. So it has to be very dependable. So i think this year it is a call upon all of us to be more dependable to each other. Hundreds took to the streets to seek a higher wage, how much theyre looking for. And the strong storm in the east, thousands of flights were cancelled. But well show you this one. Wildlife officers in San Francisco seized thousands of pounds of what is believed to be sharp fins, headed to bay area restaurants. Take a look at the bust last month, the officials with the department of fish and game say they followed the truck from emeryville, and followed it back, they say it is owned by michael quan, who is part of the group suing to block the ban, the ban was passed in 2011 because of the inhumane way fins are harvested. They hardly keep them out of the water for any significant time, cut the fins off and put the carcass back in the ocean, it will die a very painful death, for what . Two small fins that they can make fish out of . Well, there is a second group suing to keep the shark fins on the menu, that case is pending in court. And calling for an increase in the citys minimum wage, the group organized the event. They want to see the minimum wage increased to 12. 25 in oakland, it is currently eight dollars an hour, they also want employers to require sick days for all workers. Members are trying to get enough signatures to put the issue on the ballots in november. They say it will help them to get more independence. We dont want this raise so we dont have to depend so much on state, federal government and city assistance. Basically, i dont want a handout. I dont want to depend on the government. I just want to be a providing parent. The group needs 35,000 signatures to get on the fall ballot. Opponents say higher wages will mean fewer jobs and higher prices. With barely a 24hour breather from the last storm parts of the east and new england are getting hit with another major storm. Some areas are expected to get at least two feet of snow. Dangerously high winds are in the mix, as well. The governor of massachusetts asked residents to stay off the roads. Under these conditions it really is not possible for us to keep the roads clear and safe given the rate of snowfall. Hospitals on and near cape cod are on standby for a possible spike in emergencies. The snow is not just causing accidents on the roads but roofs are collapsing throughout the region. We have one to show you here at a sport complex in new jersey.
