Turns out police say he was holding a cell phone. Captain Matt Mccarthy says us marshals were searching for the out of arizona thursday afternoon. During surveillance, he ran off. Us marshals called metro for help to find him. Patrol officers tracked him down, told him to drop what they thought was a firearm in his right hand, he came toward them hiding that hand and they opened fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene. captain Matt Mccarthy metro police because the officers believed that the suspect was wanted for attempted murder, because this was a residental area and because they believed he was armed with a firearm, they discharged their firearm upon the subject striking him several times.
