was so large, cars were lined up the private road behind me where you see the sheriff's vehicle. and some of them say this isn't the first time there's been a problem. this $1.7 million house is so remote this, is the only view our camera could get of it. deputies found 22 year-old 49ers linebacker aldon smith with stab wounds a little after 2:00 am. two others had been shot. a neighbor sent these photos of sheriffs vehicles in front of the home. >> a house party? a house party that you get stabbed at? come on! >> reporter: a neighbor told us it's not the first time smith hosted a large party. last year, he signed a four-year $14 million contract with the 49ers and was a standout in his rookie season. in january, he was arrested for dui in miami beach. >> 22 year-old getting that kind of a contract? it's going to happen again. and i think the '9ers are going to come down on him because we just don't accept that. >> reporter: the sheriff's office says smith and the two victims were taken to local hospitals but were not seriously injured. the director of public relations said "we were in contact with with aldon and thankful his injuries are not more serious." one neighbor told us smith's parties have gotten out of hand before. >> they were shooting guns? >> yeah, they were shooting guns. >> reporter: you see the sheriff's vehicle posted on the private road. this is as far as we're able to go. the investigators are coming and going all day along. the 49 ares are in communication -- the 49ers are communication in authorities as they try to find out exactly what happened here. an off-duty lifeguard is being credited with saving the lives of five people who were swept down a san mateo county beach. two young boys were in the surf at rozenvelt beach near half moon bay late this afternoon when they appeared to struggle in the water. one of the boys' father and two other family members jumped into the water to rescue them, and soon all five of them needed help. an off-duty lifeguard heard the call and ran to the water. the lifeguard managed to help all five to safety. the father was the most seriously injured. he is hospitalized in serious condition tonight. fire officials tell us that the lifeguard's speed in getting to the beach may have made the difference between life and death. antioch please have not released new information about the suspect or motive in a deadly shooting. it happened this morning around 4:15 on l street near 9th. a man was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. he was 20 years old. anyone with information is asked to call antioch police. in san jose, police are trying to determine what led up to a deadly stabbing there last night. it happened in a parking lot on winchester boulevard in west san jose. police haven't released the name of the victim, and officers haven't made any arrest yet. this is san jose's 20th homicide of the year. vallejo police investigating an officer-involved shooting that left an armed robbery suspect dead. the confrontation between the suspect and police was caught on video. [ crowd noise ] >> reporter: this is cellphone video taken by a resident. >> reporter: you can hear police firing about 15 shots. >> over here, over here, about a second later shots, about 15 shots. i said i'm getting back. >> reporter: that witness wanted to remain unanimous. >> ordered him to show his hands and surrender, but he refused to do so. instead he pointed a weapon at the officers. an officer fired on him, and he was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene. >> reporter: it started around nine:15 this morning when this gas station was robbed by a white man in his 20s. >> i never thought that would happen to me. i consider myself pretty strong. >> reporter: the clerk who was victimized also.ed to remain unanimous -- also wanted to remain unanimous. the robber got away with about $100. i told her the alleged robber had been killed. >> somebody so young to lose their life, over something so stupid. >> reporter: police stopped the grand cherokee and began the chase. >> every indication is that they acted in self defense and appropriately. >> reporter: no one else was hurt. two officers are now on administrative leave. the grand cherokee was stolen out of concord. a car smashed through the front windows of an east bay ice cream shop today, injuring an employee, and doing considerable damage to the store after 8:00 this morning at concord in the baskin robbins in oak grove road. the 73 year-old driver was trying to park when she hit the accelerator instead of the break. there no ward if she will face any charges. a four year-old boy is hospitalized after being struck by a car in oakland. witnesses say the boy was struck after he ran into the street. he was conscious when paramedics arrived and was taken to children's hospital. right now, we don't know of the boy's condition. the driver who struck the boy is cooperating with police. daley city police have identified a suspected shop lifter who hasn't spoken to authorities since his arrest a month ago. the fran chronicle reports that a therapist recognized the van. he was not carrying an id when he was arrived on may 30th and has not responded to any questions. he may suffer from mental illness of the he's being held at the san mateo medical center. an american canyon, homicide detectives say they've cracked a cold case dating back to 1991. this man, michael license, was linked to the robbery and killing of convenience store owner ken cove. he died in federal prison in 1994. the surviving relatives have been notified of the findings. findings suspected monday in the case of a man accused of beating a priest. william lynch cried as he testified about the may 2010 confrontation with retired priest gerald linder. he said he struck at him when linder leered at him in the same way me had in the alleged abuse. linder denies the abuse, but the church paid the lynches a $625,000 settlement. a deadly storm has made for a disastrous weekend across the country. the overnight storm killed at least 13 people, including two young boys in new jersey. the two and 7-year-olds were camping when strong winds and rain snapped a tree that fell on their family's tent. as practically williams report, now some three million people are without power up and down the east coast, and people in the midwest are bracing for more severe weather. >> reporter: the sense around the basketball court outside washington dc is no match for heavy winds. across the midwest and atlantic seaboard, residents and crews were around cleaning up. alicia is trying to get answers on when her power will be back. >> mainly we just want to have some indication of when we're going to be back and up. we have food, perishable, and we're worried about, you know, getting back to normal. >> reporter: officials say it could be a week before power is fully restored. the other victims this weekend are in much of the midwest, south, and east coast. triple digit temperatures. this is one of five cooling centers set up in atlanta to provide relief. savannah works with senior citizens and worries about them. >> they are really affected by intense heat, and a lot of them don't realize that they are suffering from dehydration. >> reporter: forecasters expect the extreme heat to last through the weekend. as for alicia, she has her mind set on a place to escape. >> we're going to the mall. montgomery mall has air conditioning. water-level view and a way to look under nearby piers. across the bay, friends launched a parallel search. and on piers 30 and 32, a steady vigil of friends. >> we're just hoping to find some kind of closure for the family, some kind of evidence that what actually happened -- it's been really, really hard. >> reporter: friends and family say they will continue the search. they'll be out again tomorrow, and they want the public to continue to search as well: the family of sierra lamar says there will not be a search for the teen this wednesday. instead they want the volunteers to spend some time with their own families. the searchers are scheduled to continue next saturday. the 15 year-old was last seen on march 16th at her home in morgan hill. 21 year-old garcia torres has been arrested and charged with her kidnap and murder. officials in colorado say progress is being made on that massive wildfire there. more than 1,200 firefighters now have the fire 45% contained. the waldo canyon fire near colorado springs has charred 26 square miles and destroyed 350 homes. this video was taken by a woman fleeing her home. officials say two people have died in the fire. national guard troops are helping patrol streets. >> we've got everybody looking at the big picture, trying to stay focused on the fire and focused on the safety of the firefighters and the public. >> fire officials are worried about hotter weather heading toward the region. ten thousand people remain out of their homes. some of them will be able to tour their devastated neighborhoods tomorrow. >> this is a good courage and the discipline to be able to actually fight these fires. >> president obama delivered his weekly address friday after touring the colorado burn area. he urged the nation to donate to relief agencies, such as the american red cross. the international guard today announced it is sending eight aircraft to colorado to help fight the fires, including two planes and crews from california. an aircraft from the 146th airlift wing left this morning from the international guard station and arrived in colorado around noon. about 30 crew members will accompany the planes. two translate in a 10% uptick in train, air, and bus traffic. that is due in part to a drop in gas prices. the average price nationwide is $3.35 a gallon, and it hasn't been that low since january. in oakland, it's about $3.80 a gallon, and in san jose, $3.79. volunteers produced up a new domestic violence resource center in richmond today. the west contra costa family justice center plans to move
