Reporter from the air, this morning, a look at how those tank cars slammed against each other. These explosions shooting hundreds of feet into the air. Ive never seen anything like this in my life. Reporter the latest in a rash of crude oil tank cars igniting during derailments. Oh, my god. The house is on fire, the train derailed over the hillside. Reporter destroying homes and property. Even 24 hours after all the explosions, flames and smoke, csx rail and state officials could only watch and wait for the 20 cars, onefifth of that train that was rolling through this small town, to burn itself out. One of west virginias senators say they dodged a bullet. There have been too many of these accidents have happened. Reporter hes talking about north dakota oil, known as bakken crude, which is more flammable and has contributed to many of the recent explosions. Reporter this morning were hearing for the first time from the son and daughter of tammy meyers, the las vegas mom gunned down after an alleged road rage incident, speaking out at an emotional vigil overnight. She was protecting me that night and she did everything, you know, she was teaching me how to drive. Reporter but now, were hearing a drastically different account of the night she was shot in the head after giving her daughter a driving lesson in this parking lot late thursday. Now, heres what happens when she gets home. Reporter homicide detectives now saying she allegedly encountered a sedan with one person inside, not three. As originally believed. Her daughter reaching over honking the horn and the other driver gets angry pulling in front of the pairs vehicle and stopping, exiting his car to confront meyers who allegedly doesnt say anything back. Las vegas police also saying the 44yearold was likely not followed home immediately after the incident as previously thought. But instead went home, got one of her sons who grabbed his handgun and went looking for the suspect together. Her 22yearold son came out of the house, got into the car, he was armed with a firearm. They left the house in search of that person, that mrs. Meyers was involved in an incident with. Reporter police say the pair spots the suspects vehicle nearby but then returns home. Thats when the suspect vehicle allegedly follows them back into their culdesac exchanging gunfire with meyers son brandon speaking about the incident for the first time at that vigil. I did what i had to do to protect my family. And id do it for anyone i love. Reporter her husband calling his son brave overnight. My son is a hero in my book. Reporter i asked the lead homicide detective who gave them this new account of what happened he told me it was the witnesses to all of this the son and daughter who were right here that night. Does that change things . Well, look, it changes things in terms of how we view the case but why this happened, et cetera. But as a legal matter, if it happened as the police are saying now, which is they go after him, they dont have a confrontation. They come back and the person follows them to the house and then shoots her at the house, that doesnt change it as a legal matter. Thats right. That becomes murder. Right . You follow someone to their house, no matter if they chased you or didnt chase you, still a case of murder. What im little puzzled by is why the authorities are already so certain about what happened. Meaning you heard right there at the end of kendis piece hes talking about the two key witnesses being the daughter and the son involved in this case. They definitely want to catch this person. They want to find this person. They want to talk to this person. Because it seems there are still some Unanswered Questions about exactly how this happened. Does it hurt this persons potential defense if it should come to that, the fact that the person has not shown up, is a fugitive basically. Yeah, it doesnt help. Look, they dont know exactly who the person is. The fact that the person is not turning themselves in now is not helpful to this persons case but i think if and when this goes to trial you can expect to see some sort of claim of selfdefense. Even here, exchanging of fire. Who fired first. These are going to be the kind of questions that come up later, but regardless you are not allowed to go follow someone to their house and shoot them. How does that play into this . First of all, he humanizes him. I think that may be the most important thing and then shes talking about his mental illness, hes on nine medications, in and out of mental institutions but on the other hand you have the prosecutors coming back on crossexamination saying wait a sec, he also had a history of violence and drug and alcohol use, didnt he . And thats a little microcosm of the case right there which the defense is saying focus on the mental illness, the prosecution is saying focus on the violence and alcohol and drugs. And the prosecution giving another possible motive saying that routh was very frustrated with the victims at the shooting range. Right. And if that were the motive, that were the only motive weve heard i think he could be in big trouble trying to overcome that. The problem for the prosecution is this is at least the fourth possible motive weve heard in the case. At one point he is upset about the fact that the car smells like cologne. No one is talking to him in the car is another possible motive. He was doing it out of selfdefense is another possible motive. Any one of these individually is obviously murder, if thats the motive and he not insane thats motive. When you take all four to them together it can seem like the rantings of a mad man and so thats the problem, the potential problem that the prosecution has with all of these different possible motives. Reporter it gives celebs like kim kardashian, Jenny Mccarthy and eva longoria that faux glow but experts say a chemical in spray tans may pose a potential Health Hazard if inhaled or ingested. Dha is the chemical in spray tans that makes skin turn brown. The fda approved it 35 years ago for external use as in lotions but not for all over spray because the industry has not provided the data for that purpose. Still, the fda said dha should not be inhaled or ingested or exposed to the lips, nose or in and around the eye. Im ryan. Reporter in 2012 we went undercover to many salons in the new york area. Few had eye covers or nose plugs available and when we asked, every salon discouraged us from wearing them. You dont need it. You really dont need it. You dont need to wear anything on your face. In response to our first story he said his company would immediately develop a unit to improve compliance with the fda recommendations. So, has anything changed . We meet up with levy again. The result of your piece three years ago within one month, there wasnt one person in our market who didnt know the fda recommendation about protective eyewear and nose plugs. Reporter how do you keep these salons accountable . It is our job to make the salons aware that this is a recommendation. It is not a regulation. Reporter so, gma investigates going undercover again to the same salons to see if anythings changed. One salon had stopped giving spray tans because of employee concerns. A few girls who were pregnant and doctors told them no way and then nobody wants to do it. Hi. Good, how are you . Reporter of the other salons this time, they all have protective gear but none of the employees mentioned the gear or the fda recommendations until we brought up the subject. Do i need to wear goggles or nose plugs or anything . No, once we go to spray over your face well tell you to close your eyes and hold your breath.
