[ cheers and applause ] you know it had been raining all day long and it stops right before the game. Just at that moment he takes the field at Yankee Stadium one last time. Much more on the captain coming up. But well begin with a near disaster in the sky. Two passenger planes forced to turn around because the airport where they were scheduled to land had shut down early. Abc reena ninan is here with that story for us. Good morning. Good morning to you. Those two passenger jets were scheduled to land just after midnight. Luckily they were short flights, when they got to wilmington, North Carolina, the pilots had no option but to turn back. No norv gags at all. Reporter two commercial aircrafts forced to abort landings because the system used to guide them on to the runway shut off without warning. Nothing was working. Reporter the runaway at wilmington, North Carolina, was supposed to be closed for construction just after midnight yesterday. But now the faa is investigating why the instrument landing systems were turned off a full hour earlier than scheduled. The airport lights are not on. They actually flipped the switch early. Reporter the pilots, heard on air Traffic Control recordings, discussing the mistake. Somebody went in and shut down everything that had to do with landing at this airport. Shut down the lights, nobody to talk to. They shut down the instrument landing systems. Reporter instrument landing systems, or ils, are installed at both ends of a runway. Allowing aircraft to land when visibility was low. No way they could have successfully or safely shot an approach into wilmington with both the runway lights and the instrument landing systems off. Reporter both planes were able to return safely to their departure airports. But questions still remain about the miscommunication. It was an unnecessary risk that was caused by human error and poor supervision and poor attention to detail. Reporter one of the passengers, sergeant kim munley. She was hailed a hero after she took down the shooter in the fort hood massacre four years ago. The director at the airport says they are looking into safeguards. They want to make sure theres not a repeat performance on this one. A lot of questions. We want the answers. Thank you. And going to move on to the war on isis and the hunt for the terrorist who killed two americans. They know who it is, says the fbi. Pierre thomas, you spoke directly with the director of the fbi. Yes, i did. The fbi director believes they have identified the isis radical appearing in the horrific videos. And he had a blunt assessment in a meeting with me and a small number of reporters. This morning, the masked man in this barbaric video speaking in what sounds like a british accent and preparing james folly for execution, has been identified. Fbi director declined to name the suspect but he made clear one of the most exhaustive forensic investigations in recent memory has yielded results. Fbi and british investigators have deployed a variety of techniques, including face and voice analysis and the study of the terrain at the scene. I think its going to be extremely difficult to locate him until we degrade their operations a little further. Reporter the fbi director also confirmed that two men in this new isis propaganda video are the focus of an intense investigation. The reason . They appear to be speaking in north american accents, meaning potential threats to the homeland. Isis would be looking to respond to u. S. Military action. Quote, if anything, it increases their desire im sure to find a way to strike here. And issued with warning about the khorasan, the spin off of al qaeda in syria, planning to attack aircraft with undetectable bombs. He says he believes the groups plan it attack remains an urgent threat despite being hit by my tear strikes. The khorasan was at the top of the list of worries. He is assuming that the military strikes in syria didnt kill them all. And the threat from them can surface, in his words, tomorrow. George . Okay, pierre, thanks very much. Im sure its a hot topic on sunday. Now to the shocking dash cam video. A South Carolina state trooper shooting an unarmed driver during a traffic stop. The officer has been fired and is facing charges and driver survived. One South Carolina state rep says he doubts the trooper would have been charged without it. Four shots in three seconds, and what appears to be jones wallet flies from his hands as he raises them. Take a look, the startling shooting appears to start as a routine traffic stop. Levar jones pulled over for a seatbelt violation when this hooped. Your license please. Get out of the car. Reporter watch again. South carolina state trooper, sean groubert, captured by his dash cam, asking jones to get his drivers license, but when jones reaches into the car, groubert fires. At least four shots. Down on the ground. You said get my license. I just got my license. Reporter jones, shot in the hip and in pain. I cant feel my legs. Reporter but wants the answer to one question. Why did you shoot me . You dove head first in the car. Reporter police say jones didnt have a gun in his car, nor was there any indication that he did. Jones telling abc news i thank god every day that im here with a story to tell. My recovery is coming along well, and hope this can make a change not just here in South Carolina, but coast to coast. As for officer groubert, he was not only fired for the shooting, but has been charged with assault and battery. The arrest warrant calling the shooting unlawful and without justification. I just got my license, you said get your license. Reporter groubert has entered a plea of not guilty. His attorney telling reporters jones was aggressively reaching for the license, leading him to believe it was a firearm and making him fear her his life and the safety of others. In 2012, groubert was involved in another shooting at a traffic stop after the suspect shot first. He was then awarded the agencys medal of valor award for his actions in protecting the public and now, if convicted, he could face up to 20 years behind bars. This is why dash cam video is so crucial. Its very expensive for Many Police Departments to have that. For both sides, for the Police Officer and those pulled aside, helps. A fire forcing authorities to stop traffic in and out of major airport the. The fire broke out inside a nearby air Traffic Control center. Two people were injured and as you can imagine, the shutdown in chicago is impacting air travel across the country right now. At least one airline suspended flights into chicago through noon and look at the radar this morning. An unusual scene, planing turning back from chicago. The air space over the city, clear. This is the second time since may a fire at an air traffic facility forced a shutdown. Also breaking right now a bridge collapsing over a major highway in detroit. The pedestrian overpass came crashing down after a truck slammed into it early this morning. The driver of that truck killed. The highway, is still closed. Among them stuck in traffic, several members of Detroit Lions reiffing to work. That means quarterback matt stafford. No one else was injured. And a warning overnight about a dangerous new computer bug that could allow hackers to seize control of millions of devices. Its the bash bug, also known as shell shock. Affects nonwindows operating systems including mac and linux. Unlike previous bugs, this one cannot be stopped by just changing your password. This morning, Virginia Police are thanking an eagleeye in texas who says she came face to face with this accused kidnapper. Karen, who declines to give her last name was on a beach near galveston when she recognized matthew from these wanted posters. Thats made me know it was him. Both ohare and midway had to see shot because of a fire at an faa Flight Control center. A Law Enforcement official tells abc news, it appears the fire was intentionally set but it does not appear to be an attack on the facility. Police say they saw a worker in that facility suffering from selfinflicted wounds. He was taken to the hospital and the fbi is now investigating. This is having a domino effect impacting flights across the country. A similar fire in may forced chicago airports to shut down. And a different travel nightmare in detroit right now. A major highway remains closed after a pedestrian bridge came crashing down this morning. Its believed a dumpster in an upright position on the back of that truck hit with such force that it fell over. The truck driver was killed. Police say this could have been much worse if it happened later in the morning. Several members of the Detroit Lions Football Team were in that traffic headed to work. Overseas, the u. S. The teen, eager to make a difference outside of her own community. Lilly partnered with big life foundation, a Conservation Group in east africa. Raising funds to sponsor 15yearold seiens tuition. And helped improve conditions at her Primary School by rebuilding desks and bringing supplies to children. And i wanted to show with her, she is physically trapped in this world she cant get out. Yet she has so many aspirations and dreams and everything she wants to accomplish. You gained weight for the role, which is an interesting part of this. I didnt realize you learned that from spending time with the girls that you needed to gain some weight. And also you had to learn to speak russian. Yeah. I kind of had a cheat sheet on my phone all the time. I had it written down in phonetics. Where i was like it was very believable. It was hard. Its a hard language to learn. So different than english. And i love the way your character changes denzel and denzels character changes you. Yeah, we kind of save each other. Im the first person to crack his shell. Hes the first man to treat me like more than just a piece of meat. He treats me like a person with dreams. Its a beautiful story. I love the ending. You are a las vegas person, and have two restaurants in the cosmopolitan. What makes vegas so great for food . So many chefs are there. So many great restaurant people have come to the city. Theyve made it a destination for dining as well as gaming and great shows and all the great things that las vegas is about. Its an epicenter for food as well. And now one of your italian dishes. We have onions caramelizing here. We add a little bit of garlic. Bigger chunks of garlic. Bigger chunks. Were going to puree it later. And oregano inside here, and fennel seed also. And cook this up nicely. Develop the flavor, and after a while, add beautiful, fresh peeled tomatoes. These are not canned like i buy. No, these are all fresh. You can use the canned stuff too. Like short cuts. Its vegas, no judgments. You know what i mean . I like that already. Let it concentrate and cook down. And turn it into a tomato paint. Right . It does. That just looks great. That just happens. You dont have to whisk it or anything . Just kind of happens. Breaks down . You we cook and then blend it. And puree it as well. And this is a dish with black cod and tomatoes. Whats different about black cod . Its a higher fat content. Adds to the texture and the palate of it. Makes it great. So what we do, just season it with salt. And then put it in this nice, hot pan, and sear it and cook it skinside town like that. Theres skin on the bottom. Thats what we want to do. And after roasting it, take it, the paint, and kind of roast it on the exterior of the cod. Looks beautiful. Thank you. And we have fennel, and concentrated tomatoes, cook at a low temperature for a little while. Look. Whos eating . I thought you wanted me to try it.
