Still quite gusty from livermore. The rain ends for the next couple of hours and then the winds calm down a bit before it all gets reinvigorated this afternoon with a chance of thunderstorms. The rough surf turned up by the storm turned deadly for a paraglider. He fell into the ocean off of pacifica. Sergio contonya has the details. From the cliffs overlooking below, he had been riding the air currents along the beach until he lost lift and dropped into the surf pf. For a while we could not get to him. Complicating the effort to get to him was the beach access trail under repair for the last few weeks, and the concrete slabs were unsafe to use. And this man shot video and he said the currents dragged the man north to a narrow beach so bystanders shimmied down the bluff to pull him out. They tried six or seven times to grab him and the parachute, but the current snatched it out of their hands. He was all wrapped up in his lines and weights, which weighed a ton and we could not budge him, really. Eventually the men were able to cut him free from the parachute wing, and according to the fire authority, he did not survive and was pronounced dead on scene. Just before sunset, some people walked along the waterfront to take pictures of the swells as they crashed into the pier. Across the bay area, the country, the world, hundreds of thousands joined together for the womens march. This massive crowd in San Francisco from Civic Center Plaza to Justin Herman plaza were among the tkepdemonstratio. Reporter passion and power filled the streets of San Francisco as thousands marched for many reasons. The people united. Will never be defeated. Reporter some simply felt compelled to be here. Its a Pivotal Point in history and i want my girls to know what is going on and realize they matter. Many in the crowd feels the newest president is not inclusive of everybody, and things will change for the worse, and thats why nancy pelosi marched. They will fight if they try to overturn the Affordable Care act and others. It was all about unifying in a time of uncertainty. I am here to be with everybody else that wants to stand for human rights. Human rights activist and folk singer shared the sentiment before her performance. We need to kind when kindness is not at the forefront. What is at the top of the mind for so many here is to show the next generation of women will be supported. In the south bay an estimated 25,000 people marched from city hall to plaza de cesar chavez. It was not a message to trump, necessarily, and it doesnt matter who won, this needed to happen. Standing up for the rights of women, and assuring we have Affordable Health care quality and people are very committed and very united and its an incredible concept with the decisid divisions we see in the nation today. People were cheering and holding up signs and some cried. In oakland, an estimated 60,000 marchers took to the streets and spread throughout downtown. Abc 7 news reporter, katie itice has more. The smallest of marchers with the opinions. I dont want him to make a war and i dont want him to make a wall. I am marching because i want me and everybody else to be equal. Some fear thats not the direction President Donald Trump is taking the country. I am terrified for the first time in my life about the leadership of this country. It isnt right. There are millions of people marching not only in america but all over the world and at the end of the day thats what its all about, and its about standing up for our rights. In walnut creek, hundreds of people gathered for the womens march, and abc 7 news viewer, claire moore, shared this video with us. Walkers braved the rain for a rally at civic park yesterday morning that featured speakers and sign making and some of the participants shared concerns about Climate Change and preserving programs like medicare and social security. In santa rosa, a large crowd demonstrated downtown with signs that said we stand for women and tweet less, and the city had to shut down some streets during the rally yesterday afternoon, and an estimated 5,000 people showed up for that march, and everybody said it was peaceful and organized and no arrests. Protesters turned out in cities all over america, and los angeles estimated 750,000 people participated in the womens march there, and chicago, boston, and atlanta, just a few other cities showing solidarity to promote human rights and gender equality. The Global Impact was larger than organizers predicted. That its estimated at least 2. 5 Million People in 700 cities worldwide took part in yesterdays demonstration. It all started in washington, d. C. Organizers estimating half a Million People were there. This worldwide event grew from just one Facebook Post by a grandmother in hawaii. Attracting attention from feminist icon, gloria steinam, and politicians including californias newest senator. Part of what makes us great is we are a nation that was founded on certain ideals. Founded on the ideals that were spoken in 1776, that we are all and should be treated as equals. A side by side comparison shows a larger crowd yesterday than at President Trumps inauguration on friday. It should be noted some streets around the National Mall were closed on inauguration day. Were dealing not just with rain but with the wind here today. Yeah, very heavy rain in the east bay, and redwood city, the south bay and san jose, and the winds gusting to 31 miles per hour. Officers say this man robbed a chevron gas station near the intersection of San Ramon Valley boulevard and bullinger canyon road. Police say he told the clerk he had a gun, though none was seen and no word yet on how much money he got away with. Yesterdays women marches all over the bay area not only affected traffic, the demonstrations impacted businesses, too. The usually bustling strip of restaurants and merchandisers along 4th street and berkeley was unusually quiet for a saturday. This line of customers are politically involved and are doing the march and its taking business away from 4th street in general. I am really, really proud for these women and its time for them to get politically involved, and its just nows the time. Some shops in oakland closed early or did not open at all because of the womens march. While some businesses saw a drop in customers, b. A. R. T. Saw quite a surge. More than 255,000 people went through b. A. R. T. Exits by 6 00 last night, and by that point last week 112,000, and thats a. The office of Emergency Services is keeping a close eye on Pacheco Creek in hollister. The flooding forced dozens of nearby residents to evacuate again on friday, and firefighters rescued nearly two dozen people from flooded homes. Just about everybody is back in their homes this morning. Officials say the problem is twofold, and all the rain sending the river oer over its s and the original levee that broke earlier this month widened to double its original side. In the sierra the latest storm is bringing a warning about avalanche danger. The cal trans camera at king dale closed last night and traffic creeping through, and chains are required past placer camera to the nevada state line. Placer county officials are urging people that live in Alpine Meadows to voluntarily evacuate because of the high avalanche risk through tomorrow. Good morning. We are looking at Flood Warnings in sonoma, napa county, santa clara and santa cruz where we are getting debris flow, mudslides and flooding is happening. As you look at live doppler 7, you can see the back edge of the cold front beginning to push through the north bay, and still until 9 00 we are looking at Flooding Issues here, and also throughout the day in much of the bay area. We are so saturated and the National Weather service highlighted this area for the next 30 to 45 minutes with a flood advisory until 6 45. The drainage is poor and we are getting a lot of rain in a short period of time and its still coming down from livermore to pleasanton to 680 right now, and gusty winds, and as you go back westward its lightening up, and this is where the rain will continue to get enhanced as the cold front pushes through and its shifting to the south and from big sur through davenport, we will have issues here, maybe a half of foot of rain over the weekend before its all said and done there, and as we go through san ramon, the light rain and winds breezy out there, but from the north bay through the San Francisco looking at that front that has pushed on through. Thats only the first portion of it. Theres the low. Heres the front. Cold and unstable air will push out through the entire bay area. The winter storm warning continues on the Sierra Nevada on the west slopes right through lake tahoe with an additional two to four inches, and this has been going on for days. They picked up a foot, two feet, and still looking at another two feet in kirkwood, and incline, another foot and a half. Its in the 50s outside right now, and boy, it is soggy out there. The winds continue to be breezy to gusty from the coast from hayward to san jose and livermore, but you will notice behind the system, its getting a little calmer out there. Still a High Surf Advisory until 3 00 a. M. On tuesday, and the wave heights high and the breakers anywhere from 25 to 30 feet. With all this rain, its got nowhere to go with the storm drains really at capacity, and we are looking at a Flash Flood Watch for the entire bay area throughout the day today. We are only going to get a brief break in the rain, maybe two hour or so and then comes back. As a cold front pushes through, we will have the high wind warning lifted after 10 00. Lets take you into your afternoon, and your hour by hour forecast, and so theres the front, and you notice the slight break, but still showers around by noontime, and then by 2 00, this is when we can see a thunderstorm, hail, gusty winds and heavy downpours. No tickets to rio for eight more days. She desperately booked a zig rag route through panama and that flight got delayed too, and now they were stuck in panama. I started to cry. It made me feel upset and i was trying to help her calm down. They scored two tickets on a small plane to rio by chance with a soccer team. When they got back Home American Airlines did not refund their money for those missed flights, and she contacted 7 on your side and we contacted the airline and days later she got 3,500 back. The airline telling us we apologize for the delay they experienced and as a gesture of goodwi goodwill, we reimbursed the tickets on American Airlines including those flown. And American Airlines gave mom 50,000 reward miles and her biggest takeaway she books connecting flights with at least 12 hours in between them. Gun violence and pg13 movies more than doubled since 1985. A pg13 rating means some material may be inappropriate for children under 13, but according to the study, movies targeting americas youth have more gun violence than rrated films. We do have a cold front that has pushed through the bay area and the north bay, but look at the heavy rain still in the south bay and Santa Cruz Mountains and the central coast. The winds will continue to dial back as the front pushes through, but we already have flooding from sonoma, napa, and santa cruz and southeastern and Alameda County and a Flash Flood Watch throughout the afternoon. The surf is still up and the winds, it will be a couple hours before those settle down, and we still are going to look for showers today. Heres a look at santa cruz where one of the more particularly hard hits areas today, the rain will continue here for the next several hours, and the golden gate, things looking calmer here, and the wet pavement headed out this morning, and a break for the next few hours before the rain comes back throughout the morning hours. The wet pavement, and the cold front and the good news is its behind this, still a couple hours and a couple days of showers before we can eliminate the rain from a couple days in our outlook, and we will have that for you in our hour by hour sunday afternoon forecast in just a few minutes. Breaking news out of georgia this morning. State Officials Say 11 people were killed, 23 others have been injured after Severe Weather hit central georgia. Just before 1 00 this morning our time a tornado touched down. That was one of 11 reported in that state just this weekend. Theres widespread damage to homes and other businesses, and downed power lines. Hundreds of thousands of people took over washington, d. C. And cities all over the world, including several here in the bay area. To march for their rights, some rights that could be threatened by a trump presidency. A battle cry heard from hundreds of thousands of people. We will resist any racist, sexist, islam aphobic policies that come our way. The National Mall flooded with people. A lot of people have anguish and worry about what is going to happen. Women, men and children taking to the streets from coasttocoast. We can whimper or wine, and we can fight back, and me, im here to fight back. Boston, San Francisco, and even as far as london and around the world, that same emotion shared by celebrities. This girl is on fire all standing up for civil rights, and human rights. We march today for the moral core of this nation against which our new president is waging a war. Meanwhile President Trump was able to stay away from the protest with a visit to the cia, and hours later the press secretary calling a press secretary for the first time and disputing the size of inauguration day. Photos were framed in a way to minimize the enormous support it gathered on the National Mall. All the while marchers on his first day of office vowed to stay united for the next four years. Outside of the pictures, the numbers dont lie. D. C. Metro staff say by early saturday afternoon, more than half a Million People hopped on the train to head here to the capitol, and the crowds topping the number of riders on inauguration day, and the marchers saying this is just the beginning. President trump took to twitter this morning responding to the womens marchers, and he tweeted watched protest yesterday but was under the impression we just had an election. Why didnt these people vote in celebs hurt cause badly. Yesterday mr. Trump was busy on his first full day in the white house, and he attended a Prayer Service at Washington National cathedral in the morning before paying the visit to the cia. Reporter jim acosta shows us he offered a olive branch to the intelligence agency. It was down to business for President Trump has ae visit the the same intelligence that he accused of leaking information about him during the transition. Theres nobody that feels stronger about the Intelligence Community and the cia than donald trump. Trump stood in front of a wall honoring the agencys fallen officers and took swipes at the news media, accusing the press of intentionally missta misstating crowd size at his inaugural. Earlier in the day, the president s motorcade crossed the city, passed protesters on their way to the womens march in washington to attend an inaugural Prayer Service, and an interfaith ceremony featuring two dozen religious leaders including an imam that praised diversity. While the president will keep tweeting, he will crack down on federal agencies like the park service. Developing news this morning out of india, at least 32 people are dead after an overnight passenger train derailed last night. 50 others have been injured. Livermore and san jose looking at the gusty winds still up to 30 miles per hour, and as we continue to see that this morning, we are certainly going to look for conditions to go downhill before they improve. In san jose, around the summit here, and looking at a flood advisory until 6 45, and we had flooding north of hollister and thats where we have a Flood Warning through tomorrow. The heavier rain getting enhanced along the central coast, santa cruz, and right through san jose. Saratoga not out of it yet. Over into livermore, and pleasanton, lighter rain through double ton and san ramon, and then we have that rain through sonoma and santa rosa and napa with rock slides and mudslides in the roadways there. Do be careful. That twist in the atmosphere, thats the steering wreck tphme so the wind gusts from hayward to livermore and san jose, still up over 25 miles per hour. Low 50s right now, oakland and conco concord. They are beginning to dial back, and we will probably drop that advisory. The surf advisory through tomorrow with the wave heights here along the coast up to 20 feet, and in the mountains, the winter storm warning, two to four feet continue right on through monday morning. Still lasting throughout the mid morning hours, and still showers popping up here and there and its in the afternoon where the unstable atmosphere pushes through, and then tonight looking at a few leftover showers, but look what happens into your monday morning commute. Its wet and we have scattered showers around in the same scenario with a few peeks of sun and heavy downpours, and we still have wet weather out there, and beyond that things are looking brighter and drier for us.
