They dont want anybody out here until they have determined it is safe, especially if theres an aftershock. They dont want to take chances. Caltran crews are out here, along with the chp, keeping this area closed down and making sure that its safe before they open it back up. Let me tell you again where we are. Westbound 37 at sonoma boulevard. This is state route 29. We are in vallejo. Chp tells me interstate 80 and the bridge looks okay. They have a visual on that. They feel confident that looks good. But right any they are confident that that looks okay. But this area has brought them some concern. They have shut this down so they can check out the bearings, make sure everything is okay. They have seen some pulling apart at some of the seems in the road. Reporting live from vallejo, amy holingfield, abc7 news. When you were indicating the bridge on 80 was okay, its the carcenas bridge . Think thats what they are referring to. Have you heard anything about the other bridges . I havent. I havent heard any concerns outside of this spot here. They say we keep continuing down the road, we will see more buckling, more pulling apart at the seems. Just some areas making them causing them alarm. Especially how far away we are in the American Canyon. We are still miles away, but some damage here on road in vallejo headed toward the wine country. I just wanted to recap what you said. If you are in the area of vallejo, the transition road from i80 to 37, that transition road is going to be completely shut down. That, of course, is until further notice. It sounds like there is quite a bit of extensive damage that simply you wouldnt be able to drive over it. But it looks like the rest of highway 37 now, are folks able to travel through that portion of the roadway aside from the connector road . We stopped immediately when we saw this and immediately got a live signal so we could show you this. After we finish this report we will talk them into letting us go further down the road so we can see if we can show you any more damage to show you. I will gather information as we go. We are a rolling information gathering machine. We stopped here, wanted to show you this. But when we get off the air i will have more for you. Thanks. I have a question real quickly. When you have cracks in the road due to earthquakes such as this, can that cause flat tires . It could, right . I this it could. If you are driving along and the road cracks, thats going to be quite the impact to your car. Even if you drive over a curb or something to that extent, it is going to cause a very abrupt, hard hit on to your tire. So that can definitely blow a tire out. But luckily we had a few reports, officer daniel hill with the chp, he talk to us a few moments ago and he said there were a couple of vehicles that were caught in these areas where significant damage. But it sounds like there were no injuries reported, thank goodness. I was in a quake in los angeles, and as we take a look right now at sky 7hd, you see we have the full closer there along i80, the connector to westbound 37. Both directions are going to be shut down. But as i was saying in north bridge we had freeways that completely collapsed. We dont have any reports of that just yet. But chp are on the scene and caltrans is going throughout and they are trying to find any more damage. Now 37, the connector between 37 and i80 in sonoma county, and we have the other roadway, highway 29, old sonoma highway, highway 121. We have closers on that road way because of buckling, severe buckling and also because of lights in the roadway. We have traffic lights that collapsed and are in the roadways. We will keep you updated on twitter, as well, when things are going to reopen, which shouldnt be for a while. We are still monitoring. We are talking to the weather center. The camera is on us so thats why you cant see us. We are monitoring twitter feeds. Ama daetz is monitoring them. This is from antonio. We are hearing from a lot of people at hotels in the napasonoma area. I can tell you the latest. Lets see. What he is saying, they just experienced the 6. 0 when it happened. He was on the third floor, saying how wild it was. We do know the sonoma they lost power there. The power is out. They are passing out lanterns for people staying there. And the Vineyard Creek hotel and spa in santa rosa, they had a full house. They received calls from guests that everyone is calm. Take a look at this. This is the newest video off of youtube. Look at all that water. This is the video in they are posting on facebook. He said it was just wild. The walls cracked. Loss of lots of water in the hallway. This is the west end of napa. He was on the third floor. You hear the alarms going off in the building. People going down the stairs obviously getting to the because they arent sure whats going to happen next. But apparently you saw all the water come down so some sort of water main break there. You can see water on the ground, as well. So a lot going on. You can hear the alarms. And had i hear that, i see people trying to get out and water flowing through the hallways. We still continue to get in more pictures and tweets. I have been monitoring twitter a lot of people are sending out some pictures of the damage that is in their area. We are still looking at the facebook videos. The westin in napa theres a lot of water. Apparently some of the walls cracked. Im looking at my twitter feed and summing up the latest. There was an aftershock at 3. 46. The picture there of the clock. This is from a viewer. A big boom, red sky, dogs barking and bedrocking and the clock came down. It shattered. And we see other pictures. He is in san rafael. You see the huge tv just came toppling down off of the dresser on to the floor. You can see a lot of stuff has just fallen to the ground. He tweeted us that picture. Scrolling down even farther, we can see this. This one is pretty impressive. This is stanley. My house in napa is a mess. No injuries. The chimney came crashing down. You see the bricks of that fallen apart off of that chimney. We do want you to continue to send us all your pictures of damage. A lot going on with fires. And we had a video where there were homes on fire. We are hearing at least four of them. And that is the late of the we are getting right now. We are looking for more to come in so we can get that to you. This is antonios video. He is staying at the westin. Some pipes broke. He was on the third floor. No injuries reported from there but you see the water dripping down. This is the latest video we received off of youtube. Cheryl, kristen. I want to add to the tweets that i received also. I have folks sag to me i felt like it was a 20 to 30 second wave. I felt the energy coming from the south and this person is from santa rosa. And i was a block off hayward. The fault in hayward. Everybody worries about the hayward fault. This was a strong, rolling rumble. And other people saying it was a violent shaking side to side. Seemed like it lasted forever. Thats what i felt. And this person said they were terrified. I think we need to calm peoples fears. This was bad but the damage, weve seen homes gone down, but hopefully we will keep our fingers crossed nobody was hurt. We saw some of the buildings with some damage. We want to give you a sense behalf is happening. Second and main area. A lot of old, brick buildings. Cheryl, we were talking about the 2007 napa break you and i also covered. The 5. 6 magnitude one. We saw some destruction back then but certainly not to this magnitude. Now some people are getting reports in now have had to be rescued in the napa area. Someone who was a photographer with us at some point, abc7, adam was apparently able to rescue a few people. Adam, we hope you are able to join us now to talk about with a happened. Yeah. Im here, guys. I grabbed my camera and got video and ended up helping out some people get out of their residence. One. You had on the air talking about the mobile home fire. It was a serious situation. There was no water they got to the fire and they started spreading pretty quick. Thats why i ended up helping a couple people out of their older homes, elderly ones, moving their cars for them and telling them to get out of there because it was pretty serious. Adam, have you noticed a lot of destruction or damage where you are . Yeah, cheryl. I was driving downtown. I was kind. Out in the country about a mile and a half. As i drove downtown napa, a lot of the old buildings, most of them, they are old and extremely, you know, fragile. A lot of those buildings are the ones, especially downtown. But the commercial buildings under construction. Can you talk about the folks who have been burned out of their homes at that Mobile Home Park . We are looking a at video from the fire. It was so intense. Four homes were destroyed. Also hearing reports several more may be damaged. When you helped those folks out, were they able to leave with anything at all in did they have a blanket or shoes . I imagine this napped such a quick hurry. It happened so fast. Fortunately there was a lead yelling for her cat, and she was walking toward the fire trying to get her cat and her home was completely destroyed. Sorry, im emotional because it was sad. This lead was so intently trying to get her cat. Wasnt even thinking about her safety. And i just told her to get out of there because she was she was going to get injured. And then next door, all of a sudden the other house, home caught fire and the next one. There was about four or five and a lot were damaged, too. We got them out. I helped with the firefighters. They were basically saying have you seen anybody . Tell them to go out of the Mobile Home Park and i directed them out. You know, its tough when they have no water to put on the fire. That was just i have covered so many firing scenes a fire hydrant maybe doesnt work but their whole water main broke so they had to truck in water. It was a hopeless feeling and the fire chief was telling us they had to bring water tenders in. They did. One came in and started fighting one of the fires but by that time i already left and started assessing damage because i have a lot of friends and family here in napa and i i wanted to sure they were okay. Texting work even though cell service may not. We were texting back and forth making sure everybody was okay. At our house we have damage, and water damage. Its light right now. I was up and awake when this thing hit. I tell you right now, its been years since i have experienced an earthquake. Im a california native. This one was a rolling, jolting, long rolling like not just a short one back and forth, it was it felt kind of crazy like you were in a truck. You were right at the epicenter of it all. We can imagine. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us. Okay. Thank you. Be safe. All right. We were talking about the roads having problems in cracking. You always worry about the danger of after shocks making things worse. David louie is at the geological survey. And you are talking about the after shocks there . Yes. They were saying the next few days we could have the potential of up to a 5. 0 aftershock. Lets show you this map at the ugs. Is shows you the cluster of aftershocks already reported. The ones we want to key in on, if you can zoom in, the ones in red. These are the ones that happened in the past hour. Ones in yellow happened earlier than one hour ago. This is the epicenter here. The circles are based on the magnitude of the earthquake activity. So this is the epicenter. You notice theres been a whole bunch of aftershocks. The largest one was mesh under, according to this map, as 3. 6. So weve had some activity here. A lot of activity. This area is just to the west, as you see, in the napa county airport. Napa here, American Canyon here and here is where all the type of activity is going on after this mornings earthquake. This is what the seismologist here at the usgs are looking for. They are trying to see exactly what is going on and whether or not there is going to be some more activity. So of course, we are hoping to get more updates later this morning from usgs seismologists. More are still arriving. We will keep you updated. In menlo park. Sgs, david louie, abc7 news. Thank you so much. The aftershocks so concerning. We heard about the fires in napa and people saying reporting more gas leaks in American Canyon. Chris, you have been monitoring some of these . Twitter and a lot of pictures. This is from the silver oaks winery. They have lots of broken bottles. Look at this tells the story of the damage they have seen in this area. Thats a very high end wine and you know wine lovers are not happy about that. The beggest concern is injuries at this you see its centered in the napa area. Napa area is the most construction from that area of cluster. You know, even on the peninsula, though, where i was, you could feel what was i woke up to a jolt. Certainly enough to get out of bed and grab the kids and make sure they are fine. I guess kids and animals can sleep throughkanything. One person said her cat was acting strangely before it hit a lot of times we hear that, animals have sort of a sixth sense. If you have experienced some of these things and you have damage in your area, please send us pictures. Tell us what you are experiencing. We have our twitter handles up right now. Youtube, facebook, whatever you want to do, send us. Look at this. This is not a good situation for these folks. Yeah, that is thats a car thats sort of under rubble at third and brown in downtown napa where weve seen the most destruction so far. If we have more pictures from ureport, thanks for sending them in. So we can get a sense how grave the situation is in certain areas and what they are seeing in different areas. Heres another picture from the downtown area. Goals have fallen on to floors. A lot of that seeing from peoples homes, plates destroyed, glasses, things of that sort. We want to give you information on how to send us your information. Follow us on twitter, abc7 news bay area. But if you are pictures send it to ureport abc7news. Com. You can upload your pictures on the app. Its that easy. Also at abc7 news. A couple pictures available on our ipad 1. What we are seeing mainly is the old bridge structures suffered the structural damage. Bridges so far the pain bridges in the bay area, in case you are wondering about driving, those are fine. No reports of issues there. Cheryl, you know, being in the bay area, we have covered the urgency of getting the bay bridge, the new bay bridge open. It took over 25 years to get it done. And the reason being, those engineers felt like even with some of the minor issues they have had with the bay bridge, its so much safer than what we had before. We saw it before when the upper deck had some partial collapse. And the urgency to get it done now with this earthquake and seeing the bridge is still up and running must be some relief to the engineers. And i thought about this whether i was driving in from marin county this morning. And how that was one of the most top unsafe structures in the entire country, and i was grateful they had worked and gotten most of that in place. I want to remind people, on our website we have the norcal site with the earthquake information and american red cross. Its a good time to think about were you prepared for this one . None of us can really be prepared for something that noxious out of our bed and perhaps makes us run out of our homes, but there are some great tips on the prepare north cal site. Just click on it and it shows you what to do. We are one of most seismically active areas in the entire part of the state. We know the probability of a state is going to happen, and it happens. We always think about the big one. They say it will happen in the next 30 years. Guess what. The 30 years is up. And fortunately so far we kind of continue to hope that nobody has been injured. Lets check in with ama daetz in the newsroom monitoring more things via social media. Ama. We are getting some video. We want to take a look at highway 37. Hopefully we have that to show you. Look at the cracks in the road there. At least two lanes are still open. The roadway is not closed at this point. And they are checking out the structural integrity. Obvious i they need to make sure it is safe for cars to be driving on. At least two lanes are open but obviously avoid the area if you can. It will be slow going. Look at the damage from the earthquake we felt this morning around 320. You see the video from earlier. But thats where they have the exit closed off. So avoid the area if you can. We are still getting more information from people on twitter. Look at the car damage in napa. Again, thats what we are seeing the majorities of the damage. We have some of the older buildings. They are crumbling. This is from ureport. The westin video . Is that what we are going to . This is video from the westin. Antonio was on the third floor and he took this. Look at the water and coming down on to the walls. This is incredible. If you listen you can hear the alarm going off. People are getting out of the building. We havent heard of injuries there at this point yet. But there is some sort of pipe burst there. We checked in with a couple other hotels in the area. The fairmont inn and spa. They are handing out lanterns because their power was out. And the hyatt, hotel and spa, santa rosa, they had a full house. Some guests were concerned but everything is back to normal again. The westin video, water coming down. More pictures and more car damage in napa. This is more in napa county. This looks like in front of somebodys house, they lost power because of the dark. You see the light from the nash light. Bookshelf came down. Books all over the floor. People have been sending me a lot of great pictures i have been retweeting, as well. Check it out on abc7 news bay area. This tweet just came in. You can take a look at that. Hopefully you can see some of the damage. If we go to the top. Lets see. Right there. Yeah, thats the one that i just retweeted that just came in from shirley. She said this is in vallejo. Completely turned over a very heavy fountain in our front yard. Part of that came down on to the ground. Dont forget, you can always make sure you are prepared. We have all the information on our website. We see the wine bottles there that are down on the ground. Wine. This was out of safeway in vallejo. And omar, he said this is damage at sfo. United Airlines Maintenance facility. You are seeing some of the ceiling times have come down. That was at sfo. We have more pictures. Another one from vallejo. I was parking and then rocking. Some things have come down. The faucet shattered and tweet us your latest information and send us your latest video and pictures so we can get all the information out. We have the latest on abc7news. Com in case you have to leave your tv. Back to you kristen and cheryl. Thank you so much. Right now a quick update on pg e outage situations. The map is up on my ipad2. We are talking about 5,000 reports or over. Okay. Right there. See the red dots in santa rosa, petaluma, napa, right there. That is where we are seeing the most reports. 5,000 plus. We will zoom in a little bit here. The yellow dots you see. This is san francisco. Those are under 500 people affected by the outages. But not a surprise. The epicenter in the napa area. Sonoma, napa, you heard from the Napa Division chief telling us they are spoken to go reports. Electrical outages and there could be some gas outages. Situations like that after they are responding to the 6. 1 earthquake we had at 3 20 this morning that got everybody outs. Bed. If you aro in that situation and your traffic lights are out, we were talking about the safety issue and treating it as a four way stop and the chp with the same message. We are streaming out coverage on abc7news. Com. People outside the bay area they are worried because everybody has family somewhere. You have a person who is tweeting us and saying my thoughts with the bay area. Be safe. Amy is out on the field. Same my, what has you learned now that its a little lighter . We are at westbound 37. Problems from the earthquake. I was going to bring in Sergeant Mike lehman. What happened . Good morning. Thank you for talking to us this morning. What were you dealing with and why did you decide to go ahead and reopen the area . When we got the initial calls of the possible earthquake in the area. Our units responded over and checked the roadways, off rams and whatnot and discovered damage. We called out caltrans. Caltrans did respond out. They found some damage. The damage was determined to be superficial. The decision was made to reopen the roadway. Can you give us a sense of the broader picture . What have you heard about the bridges and the major enter states . There has been damageout the napa area. The roadways, we have some minor damage here and there. How do the bridges look . They are looking good. They couldnt report any major damage. Sounds like our roadways are withstanding the test. Absolutely. Absolutely. Have you heard of any major problems . No major problems at this time. Thats great news. Are you done looking now . Absolutely not. Caltrans continues to inspects the roadways in the area and im sure any inspections will ten throughout the day and possibly into the week. Tell me about how you got the major problems . We have the raceway is going to be open today. The sonoma raceway for the indycar race. Six flags will be open and a lot of people coming through the corridor. At this point you would say to people you can come through here so far so good . Absolutely. Okay. We are going to start heading further in to see what else we can find. We should have clear roadways, you are saying . From what i understand. Thank you very minor problems so far. We will keep an eye out for you. We will keep this touch with caltrans. We will keep driving through the area but so far not bad. Reporting live from vallejo, abc7 news. Thats encouraging news because thats huge for six flags and the indy races. They need to keep the roadway open. And im sure they are inspect being the roller coaster tracks and all of that. We were talking about the mobile home fire in napa, the one where four homes were destroyed and people had to be rescued and early more were damaged in that particular fire. We want to show you that live over the scene where we saw some destruction in napa. And we have on the phone with us anthony. Laura anthony, these actually live on the ground. You are keeping an eye on this. Right now we are looking at where it doesnt look like a mobile home fire, it looks like a house. It certainly does. Smoke is rising from that structure. We are getting sporadic reports of fires in that area. Lets get to Laura Anthony where flames are still burning at that Mobile Home Park. Laura. Im here at the napa valley mobile park. This is north of napa. This is one of three mobile homes that are burning as we speak here. This one a total loss. I talked to the folks who live here, its a couple. And they say they didnt even feel the earthquake. A neighbor came here and knocked on the door and told them their home was on fire. We have two more here right next to it to the left. Completely gone. And then behind that one beyond did you can see another one is burning. We understand there is also at least one other in this park that has been destroyed. Joining us now is a man who lives here, frank jones. Thanks for joining me here. Frank, you had another one right next to you, correct, about two blocks down that also went up in. Yes. Immediately after the earthquake, of course, everyone leaves their home. And i know sooner walk out my back door and i saw the house behind me on fire. Unfortunately the earthquake knocked out several watermains. When the Fire Department arrived, they had no water pressure. We do have two swimming pools here in the community and they were able to siphon water out of the the pool into their truck and come back several times to fight the fire behind my house. My house is fine. I feel so sorry for lorraine, who lives behind me. But shes fine also. Its just stuff. We have lost a lot of stuff. But these arent half million dollars, 1 million homes here, but this is a Lovely Community here in napa. We take care of each other. Well, thanks, frank jones. Again, i talked to the homeowners, and this one here you can see is still burning here. They said they didnt even feel the earthquake. It was a neighbor who actually came and knocked on the door, let them know their place was on fire. They told me they had a new kitten and unfortunately at this point they cant find the kitten. They are otherwise grateful that despite the destruction you see, really a total loss, that they are okay. Again, this is a very active scene here. Theres a number of fire trucks. Theres been a water issue but now they brought in water tenders to try to fight the fire but obviously at this point it appears they are letting this one and the other one immediately around this burn out and try to prevent it from spreading. All right. Kristen. Thank you receive much. A heartbreaking scene here. Ama daetz is in our newsroom and shes been monitoring the enormous number of twitter feeds and images coming in. Ama. We have live video coming in. This is a house fire. There arent a lot of flames at this point but this is near downtown napa. Adams and knoll. You see the fire in the upper levels of that house. A lot of smoke coming off now, a little white smoke and perhaps firefighters are getting a handling on it. There you see some flames right there that now they are dousing. This again is near downtown napa. A house fire. We dont know if anyone was injured at this point. They were able to get out. Not sure if they were home at the time but firefighters are working on putting out the fire. This is at adam and lawyer he will. A lot of fires but we havent heard of major injuries. Im keeping track of twitter. Send us our latest photos and videos. We are seeing sky 7hd of this house fire in napa. A lot of people are tweeting me. Ive seen a lot of damage. We have roadways damaged. And i can also tell you there was buck lincoln highway 121 in napa. That is by cutting wharf. We are trying it get that video. This is live sky 7hd above this house fire near downtown napa, adams and laurel. They are working at putting out any flames that remain. We saw a few flames just a few moments ago. Right now we are seeing lighter colored smoke which generally means there arent a lot of flames going on at this point. But firefighters still continue to douse the upper levels of this home. Hopefully everybody was able to get out if anybody was home at the time. Cheryl, kristen. Now we are getting breaking reports from the hospital in napa. They have 70 patience who are being treated in the aftermath of the earthquake. 70 patients. Its not lifethreatening in these cases. A hip fracture, one heart attack. Sometimes in situations like these you get that. We will continue to monitor the situation from area hospitals and hopefully none of the injuries too serious at this point. Some pictures of damage at the actual hospital. Its amazing they are able to do their jobs in the middle of a crisis, as well. Wayne freedman is in napa now along highway 121. Wayne, what do you see . We lost wayne. This is highway 121. We are about a mile to the west of highway 121. Do you hear me . Yes. You do hear me. We are a mile away from highway 129 and 121. Take a look at this crack in the concrete. We are talking about 18 inches of road that buckled up out of nowhere. This crack goes all the way across the road. Caltrans is on the scene at the moment. Traffic is still going through at the moment. But i have heard what they are going to do about this. They are either going to slow traffic down. They may stop it. They say they are not at this moment. But this is rather elaborate and this is not all. Walk with me here and follow this crack. It comes up into the ground here. This was caused by the earthquake, as well. If you look inside deeply, it is 10 feet deep, according to a man who would know about this, chris. He lives here. You saw these things this morning and thats not the only crack, right . Right. Goes through the area here. How far . Out 200, 300 feet and ten feet deep. How many . All the way through . Yes. What did you feel this morning . Explosion and shake for a good 30 seconds. When you say explosion, describe it for me. A super lout nice. It kept going for at least 30 seconds. And you have lived here a long time . 15, 20 years. You have had another earthquake . Yes. Compare this. A lot worse. Any damage to our house or home . Everything is on the floor. Bricks, furniture. Tipped things over. You are smiling. Yeah. A lot of cleanup. A lot of cleanup . Yeah. What do you think is going to happen with the road . Well, this strip and asphalt, i want to show you something again. This strip is so deep, if you look at it, where its lifted up, maybe mike can get down there for you, you see all the layers of asphalt brought in here in previous years. How is that . They are two feet thick. Two feet thick of asphalt all rising up. Thats pretty amazing. Some of the other things weve seen this morning. We saw a walgreen drugstore a little while ago in American Canyon. So this place had not been opened up yet. We look and we saw the windows foggy. Heard the alarms going. We took a look at the window. Looked inside the store. Its practically a lake in there. The Sprinkler System continued to work. They had a gas leak. They had a buckle in the floor. That place is going to be closed for white a while. And now we are able to see how its manifesting. Wayne freedman, abc7 news. Amazing that road is still open and they are letting traffic by. I dont think he can still hear us. Are we still connected with wayne . Possibly not. Cheryl, its just at the right side. Yeah. Cheryl, theres a bit of a delay in our feed to you. Its about six seconds because we are coming to you over a different system than we formally use. All right. Thank you so much. We are going to move on to another person. Go ahead. Where its come up here yeah, all right. Okay. So wayne has been talking about that bump thats formed as a result of the quake, cheryl. Its huge. I mean, when you see that, its hard to fact thom that the damage could be so intense from that earthquake. That is what we call the west napa fault that we are just now learning about. Really Important Information as we continue to look at that huge spot. And what caltrans will do on highway 121, whether they will close it or not. But this is nothing. Its a wakeup call for folks who live in earthquake country to be prepared, have the survival quits we need and make sure your family has a plan. Go to abc7news. Com where we have north cal, the onestop shopping Resource Center for all the information you need to know so about next time there is a major earthquake or any other type of disaster, your family can stay safe and refer to the guide. Its abc7news. Com, prepare north cal. Ama daetz has been monitoring the new twitter feeds. What do you have for us . We have sky 7hd live over queen of the Valley Hospital in napa. They have set up a Triage Center. You see somebody on the gurney in the middle of your screen. 70 people have come in for various injuries. So far we are hearing they all seem to be minor, but after things falling over and we are hearing most of the damage in the napa area. Its not surprising some people would be coming in with minor injuries. They have set up the triage area. You see some people sitting, waiting. And i believe we have our photographer there. Can you hear me okay . I hear you just fine. Tell me what you are seeing at the queen of the Valley Hospital in napa. Thats right. The helicopter is right above me. There is a lot of people arriving here. I estimate there may be 40 to 50 people here. People being helped out of their cars and people being helped out of ambulances. Theres about four ambulances here. What is interesting is queen of the Valley Medical Center has set up a Triage Center, attempted Triage Center right outside the medical receiving area. The emergency receiving area. And thats right off of this street in napa. Theres really some activity here right now. And they lifted somebody on over to one of the cots they have set up there. Does anything seem urgent . They seem wellorganized at in point. It does look wellorganized. Im sort of keeping my distance because im not one of the walking injured. But i can observe what is going on at the Triage Center. They have a number of cots out. You see staff pulling into the parking lot. They called in hospital staff. Its obviously they have their uniforms and identification on. Queen of the valley is gearing up for this. We see a lot of cots but not a lot of people in them. I guess thats fortunate. Maybe 70 people or so have come in with various injuries. So far we are hearing minor injuries, nothing too severe at this point. But no doubt this is something that this he prepare for and train for and practice for. You can see someone being wheeled into the tent there in a wheelchair. Seems entirely organized. This is something that we anticipated coming. Bill, we appreciate you calling in and talking to us. And its kind after wakeup call. We always know one could be coming at some point and then this happens and it kind of rattles your nerves a little bit, and it goes to show that we do need to be prepared. Prepare norcal, we have that on our website at abc7news. Com to help you prepare for these emergencies. We have vanessa from the hospital on the phone with us. Vanessa, what can you tell us about the Triage Center outside of the hospital . The Triage Center is part of what we do in response to a situation like this. As you said, we do train for this, so we are prepare. We do set that up as part of the process so we can better triage and treat patients as they arrive. How much traffic are you seeing at this point . Weve seen approximately 70 patients in the emergency room so far this morning. And can you tell us anything, are they all minor injuries, things falling over and things like that and people get injured . A lot of lacerations and cuts. We are having to do quite a few sutures on patients who have lacerations. Also abrasions. So bumps and bruises. We have had one hip fracture, as well. Okay. Any instructions for anybody who might be thinking of coming on by, something happened and they arent feeling great and they want to come by . Anything they need to know . If you do not need medical care at the time, we would ask that you do not come by to the hospital. We are here to be treating patients that need our help. Obviously if you are injured and need medical care, definitely call 911 or come to the hospital. But if you are just here for something minor, we and you to stay away so we can take care of the patience we need to. This looks very wellorganized. How often do you train for Something Like this . We train several times a year, and we train not just within our hospital but throughout the county with gms and other hospitals and other providers. So we do drill for this on a regular basis. Okay. And we hope that people are probably checking on their neighbors and making sure they are okay, especially the elderly if they need extra help. Thank you so much. Again, about 730 patience have come into the Triage Center at queens Valley Hospital in napa. This is live from sky 7hd that you are seeing. A lot of cots set up and fortunately not a lot of people, which is a good thing. We are hearing mostly minor injuries, cuts, bruises and those kind of things and there is one hip fracture. Thats the situation there live from sky 7hd. Cheryl, kristen. Thank you so much. We have a Statement Issued by Governor Brown on the south napa earthquake. He said my office of Emergency Services has been on observation since early this morning and is working closely with state and local energy managers. First responders and transportation officials to respond to impact to residents and critical infrastructure. These Public Safety officers are doing all they can to help residents in affected areas. Follow their guidance and instructions. And we saw one of the supervisors who talked earlier about they said they offered Emergency Services and napa actually had to move locations because they had damage to their own building. So they are in a bit of a world of hurt right now. We also have an official report from the sonoma raceway. They were talking about will the race continue today. The Indycar Series event. We are getting word that the race will continue. They actually have examined alll the raceway facilities and all of it is fine, including the course. And downtown napa we are seeing a lot of damage and destruction this morning. You see it as day light starts to come out. We are getting a clear picture of some of the buildings and the bricks of that fallen on to the street and partial collapse situation. Good thing is it happened at 3 20 00 in the morning. Perhaps not nearly as many people that would have been out Walking Around in the downtown area had it been daytime when it struck. And a reminder we do rely on you to let us know whats going on in your neighborhood. So we have many information to get to you. You can follow us on twitter abc7 newsbayarea. And also abc7news. Com. We have streaming on right now. Right now we are looking at getting a stream from sky 7. A live stream right now. We are taking a look right now from sky 7. A number of fires. So im looking at emergency vehicles and some smoke there. If you look closer, you see flames and looks like a light. Can we get clarification from sky 7 . Is that the Mobile Home Park thats been on fire that weve been covering in okay. That looks like it might be and that area has been burning for several hours and the flames are still going. We are going to try to confirm that for you. But as you know, four homes were destroyed at the Mobile Home Park in north napa. And not only that, the firefighters could not get water for the first 20 minutes because the water main actually broke. So they were using garden hoses and doing the best they can. They had to bring in other trucks as well. This looks like the Mobile Home Park we were talking about. Trying to get containment on this. 1040 orchard avenue. Oh, boy, so this is the second Mobile Home Park im being told right now. Right now we want to get to our reporters in the field. Laura anthony has been in the field. The fifth Mobile Home Park we have been following. Laura. I can help you in a little bit. This is the napa valley Mobile Home Park. We have three mobile homes a complete loss here. You see here they are starting to burn out. They only have a limited water supply here. There are three in this immediate area and two more. Another mobile home, a separate incident also burned, a total loss. All of this due to gas line breaks in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake and thats complicated by the fact they had water main breaks in the same area. When the firefighters got here, they had no water pressure. They did, as cheryl said, bring in water tenders. Joining me right now is division chief darren drake with the napa city Fire Department there. First of all, tell us the situation. You really have to let these burn out, right . We do at this time. Unfortunately we had a major water main break just outside the Mobile Home Park which complicated the fire fight. We had to get water tenders in to provide water for the firefight. It did make things more difficult for us. So you had a time you had no water basically . Thats correct. When we first got here, that water main had already broken and the hydrants were not operating. So the fire at that point becomes what . Well, we do carry tank water on the fire engine so we had 500 gallons and that was to stop the spread of the fair, protect the structures that were not yet involved. That was our plan, to begin corden off the fire and stop it where it was. Fortunately no injuries here . No, no injuries involved in the incident. It was fortunate you were able to contain it to the few that did burn. It certainly is. Weve had three different structure fires throughout the city. They are currently working those as well. Our resources have been coming in from outside of the area. Things are stable right now. We are allowing these to burn and to conserve water that we are going to need. And a little bit of confuse about how many Mobile Home Park fights. You have two inside this park. Anywhere else . We do on robbins lane in napa, i also understand we have a home fire there as well. And this is in the context of a large earthquake where you normally would have a lot to respond it, correct . We certainly do. We are running to a number of gas leaks throughout the city and weve had a lot of structural damage throughout the city. The assessment teams are coming up now. We have firefighters out inspecting for obvious damage and those reports will continue to come in this morning. Any reports of injuries in i know there have been some at the hospital, mostly minor. We dont have an accurate count on injuries. We understand there were a lot of walking wounded making their way into the local hospital at queens valley but to the extent of the injuries, i couldnt speak to that. Many people may be in their home, not sure if its safe and should they turn on or off the gas . We urge people not to turn on the gas unless theres an obvious gas leak. If you smell gas arena box hear gas in a gas valve offer your meter, by all means make an effort to shut it off. But if you dont smell or hear a sound of gas, we urge residents not to shut it off. Thanks for joining us today. Lots of good information. That again is the situation here. Weve got three mobile homes, a complete loss. Another one on the other side of the complex. And again, it seems kind of disturbing to stand here and watch these burn. But frankly, at this point they need to conserve what limited water they have in case Something Else happens in the area. They have to make sure they have enough water to take care of that. In the case of this home and two others in this immediate area, theres really nothing that can be done. Kristen, cheryl. Thank you so much. This is a live shot from 7hd. This is another live view. You her the chief talking about tumblehome incidents within a vicinity of just a few blocks. And as well, it really is heartbreaking. They just cannot afford to waste any more water on this. Ama daetz as Additional Information in the newsroom. Ama. Its interesting. Laura was saying its disturbing to just watch that burn, and its hard to see from the air, as well. Sky 7hd. You can just see the mobile home in the center of your screen is just destroyed and in flames coming off the one next to it. The shot is coming in Cornell Barnard is live in napa. There was a building that was damaged there. He has the latest on that situation. Cornell. Lots of buildings. The sun has come up and we are seeing this all over the streets. We are seeing bricks and concrete debris. Really as far as the eye can see in the downtown napa area. I want you show you the old courthouse that sits in the middle of downtown napa. The corner, as you see, has crumbled. Quite a few bricks at the base of the courthouse. No one was hurt here at the old courthouse square. But there is significant damage to the corner of this historic building. Lets take a look at in. This is a building completely gone. This is Vacant Office space and no one was there at the time but a lot of damage. Lets go to tape we shot earlier in morning when bricks were actually falling off the building. It happened about ten feet from where we are standing. Certainly very scary. On the other side of this building, on third street, there was a car that was completely crushed or the back window crushed by a lot of debris that was falling off. In fact, most of the concrete on top of that building fell off, the cornice of the building fell off, the side of the building near where the car was parked, heavily damaged. We have bill dodd, a supervisor for buildings in napa county. Tell us what you have seen this morning. I saw what you just showed your viewers. This is significant devastation to a lot of the old buildings. But there is devastation to buildings with the retrofits. But if this happened during the day, we would have a different scenario. Now, you have had a chance to see the county building, which is on third street a block from where we are standing. With a is the temperature the damage like there. About 3 35 i went up to the Emergency Operations center and it was dead. They already had people out. Waterpipes were breaking, and water everywhere and every file cabinet overturned. Our Emergency Operations started a backup plan to be at the sheriffs department. They are down in south of the county. A mull operating Emergency Center from the city of napa thats responding to everything downtown napa as well. On top of the earthquake you had to move your Emergency Response center someplace else because where it was, it was damaged . Yes, but, lack it, i have nothing to do with that. But our Emergency Operations in the county and the city of fap paw, they work seamlessly. They have backup plans. They are ready to go. I dont think they missed a beat. So many bricks, like i showed our viewers, so many bricks in the street. Have you heard about any injuries in the downtown area . I have a heard there have been a few injuries, but im not on top of exactly what they are. No known fatalities, which is phenomenal. We are centered in downtown napa. It was the west side of town this morning, checking out my grandkids, and im telling you, there are a lot of house that is are turned upside down on the inside. Maybe not structural damage. Theres a lot to clean up in this town and county. So many beautiful, amazing buildings. Tell me about the old courthouse and what your key reaction is to a lot of damage on the corner. This building, i believe, is somewhere in the 1860s. Its been totally redeveloped and it just looks what would that be, that would be the Southwest Corner of that building and at the roof level its just collapsed. The county is still assessing damage . Oh, yeah. We will be assessing damage for some time. Theres no doubt about it. And the city and the county will have i think a good plan Going Forward with what they are doing to make sure the public is protect the
