a broken fire hydrant. >> reporter: look at this spot there used to be a fire hydrant there now there is just a big hole. he hit the fire hydrant and knocked it off and left a hole that sent water gushing that the air. it looked like a geyser the car knocked the fire hydrant down after it crashed into it, let the water free it was spewing everywhere it happened about 2:00 this morning on castro street in a residential area at henry. one resident woke up, came to check it out these are pictures sent from one of our from -- from one of our viewers. crews looking like they are having trouble. they tell us they did have trouble act session the valve to shut it off. -- trouble accessing the value to shut it off. crews tell me the driver did appear drunk. police think he was, they took him to jail the officer says he has a prior dui. no word on whether the city will be sending him a bill for the hydrant he broke. residents never lost water, they may have lost pressure for a little while, now everything is back to normal. it took a couple of hours but they did stop the water from gushing and everyone's water pressure should be fine. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. the group that raises funds to keep popular south bay state park open will demand later this morning donations be refunded. terry mcsweeney live from san jose. this comes after funding scandal at the state capital? >> reporter: a major funding scandal. these non-profits went out and raised money to save parks on the state's hit list. turns out state parks had a 54 million dollar fund and now these non-profits are finding out state parks might not be spending that money to save these park. some people find it absolutely unbelievable that this would be going on. henry park near morgan hill was on the state park hit list, until the preservation fund stepped up, raised nearly $300,000 and promised to raise the same amount next year and the next year. another group hoping to save castle rock state park wants its money back. >> we trusted the state officials that they were out of money. the state has a 16 billion dollar deficit now and if we wanted to keep these 70 parks open, non-profits and the public would have to step up. >> reporter: state parks director ruth coleman has stepped down she resigned a week ago today. an assistant says she told coleman five times overfive years about this fund, coleman says she does not recall that conversation. the preservation fund is going to have a meeting in san jose this morning and they are going to be turning up the heat, trying to make sure that the state parks that they want saved will be saved, especially now we all know there's 54 million dollars in sacramento that we didn't know about. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. san francisco mayor ed lee the latest city leader to come out against restaurant chain chick-fil-a. people have been speaking out about the effort to build restaurants in their neighborhood because of the company's ceo's stance man who said he heard gunshots from his roommate's bedroom. deputies say the 48-year-old man refused to come out of house. investigators say he became more intoxicated as negotiations continued. 11 p.m., remote controlled robot was sent in the house and found him lying near a bed totally unresponsive. he was taken to the hospital. 2-year-old boy treated for third degree burns after falling into a fire pit in marin county around 7:00 last night at dillon beach. a fire department spokesman says the boy fell backwards into the pit suffering burns on his lower back. the family members were with the toddler when accident happened. an ambulance was called but it had to come from bodega, 20 miles away. bike rider accused of killing an elderly pedestrian in the castro district is due back in court today. 38-year-old chris bucchere pleaded not guilty during his initial court appearance last month he's free on $150,000 bail. bucchere is accused of running into a 71-year-old man when he was in the cross walk at market and castro, he died a few days later. prosecutors say bucchere made no effort to stop or slow down. police released new details about a suspect in a double murder. police
