Well talk about that sunshine when we come back. How about more on the morning commute. Im going to stick with the san mateo bridge, mike. We do have a collision. Im guessing that rain may be a factor in this. So far, not causing much of a delay there. It sounds like just a solo vehicle crash, somebody lost control, spun out and they are blocking the right lane so emergency crews on the scene. Still some light volumes at early hour though and a live look at golden gate as well. Dense fog advisory across the Golden Gate Bridge as well. Slow down and increase that following distance. Few other issues here including a new slide this morning. Well talk about that coming up. President trumps travel ban remains on hold this morning. A federal Appeals Court here in San Francisco decided against reinstating the executive order he signed two weeks ago. Maggie ruli tells us the president says this result is certainly not the end. Reporter good morning. The ruling is a major league setback for President Trump, but right away, the president took to twitter, vowing to fight back. In a unanimous decision, the 9th Circuit Court of appeals refuses to reinstate President Trumps to reinstate President Trumps travel ban on travelers seven predominantly abc7 nemusl nations. President trumps signing of that executive order immediately set off chaos at airport families left stranded, others turned away. A Washington State court put a hold on the ban. But the Justice Department maintained the order was made to protect the nation and wanted it reinstated immediately. The ruling is a skbroer legal setback for the president as government lawyers scramble to figure out their next move, President Trump quickly fired back, tweeting in all caps, see you in court the security of our nation is at stake. Its a political decision that were going to see them and i look forward to doing it. Its a decision that well win, in my opinion, very easily. He was a beloved, well respected member of our Construction Team and someone that we are completely defensive stated by his loss. Another worker, steven, was also injured but not critically. Caltrans issued a statement that read that our deepest sympathies go out to the families of the fallen and injured graniterock construction employees. This is a reminder of the dangers highway workers face. Caltrans says work to clear the slide in Scotts Valley near vine hill road wont resume in the investigation is complete. And we are seeing an outpouring of support on a crowd funding page set up for gills family. Thousands of dollars came in overnight. Reporter that boom was the sound of this huge tree crashing down on san joaquin place, blocking the street. Romeo shaw was the first to call 911. I came out to see if everyone was okay. Reporter the 75foot tree took out power lines, leaving the whole neighborhood in the dark. This tree, a very large monterey pine came down in my front yard. Reporter you heard right. The tree belongs to novato fire captain eric messenberg who was on duty not far from home. I heard my address come over the radio. Reporter what was that like . Interesting. Couple of my kids are at home so i was a little worried about them but everythings fine. Theyre safe. Reporter in mill valley, a massive muddy mess, parts of this hill came oozing down on to highway 1. Caltrans worked quickly to clean up the mudslide but it took time. Traffic was held for more than an hour in both directions. A frustrating commute after a wet, stormy week. The situation at the oroville dam north of sacramento is escalating right now. Theyre considering some sort of emergency operation. Thats because things are not getting better. They are getting worse. Theyre considering an emergency release from the lake for the first time ever. It would be an unprecedented move and it could happen in these next 24 hours. Remember that hole in the spillway, we talked about it on our show yesterday mortgage and i told you it had gotten bigger. This morning, it keeps growing and yes, you can blame the storms. The storm water and the snow melt combined are making the water in the reservoir rush faster than expected and officials think Lake Oroville could reach its brim sometime tomorrow so theyre using a bckup spillway right now. If they activate the emergency system they have in place, it will dump water on the nearby hillside and it could be terrible for communities downstream. Fairfield police need your help finding the man driving this light colored lincoln navigator. They say that he tried to lure a 15yearold girl into his suv not just once but twice in two days. The girl was walking on beck avenue. This was wednesday around 7 15 in the morning. She says the man stopped and asked if she needed a ride and then it happened again yesterday, same location, about the same time. She said no, she walked away, following both encounters. Police say an east bay student is under arrest for bringing a gun to school. It happened at Pinole Middle School yesterday. Investigators say someone alerted officers about a student with a gun on campus. Police contacted the student and found a handgun and a loaded magazine. The student was transported and booked into the Contra Costa County juvenile hall. Despite losing the backing of casino magnate sheldon adelson, raiders say financing isnt going to be an issue. Southbound 680 past treat boulevard, a threecar crash that is taking up the three right lanes. One person possibly injured there so fire and ambulance on the way to the scene and then backup continues to grow up towards the concord area so keeping a close eye on that one. That could turn into a significant issue. Live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. No problems here. No metering lights yet. Of course were expecting that within the next ten minutes. And a quick check of drive times here. Westbound 580, tracy to dublin, 38 minutes, westbound 4 antioch to concord, soggy but in the green at 18 minutes and southbound 101, san rafael to San Francisco, foggy for that commute, youre coming in at 16 minutes. Let me tell you about the last flood warning, just flooding going to continue until about 8 30 so for about another 3 hours. I dont expect it to get any worse. In fact, it may get better much quicker than that. Heres a look at live doppler 7. You can see the rain, scattered moderate downpours for the morning commute, everythings still wet at the Golden Gate Bridge. So weve got heavy drizzle to steady rain this morning, scattered showers at noon, isolated showers at 4 00 and more scattered showers at 7 00 so just with prepared to dodge drops today. How about the morning commute, alexis . As you know, that ground is saturated. I want to take you to some video here. Our crew captured this at state route 35 and 84. This is skyline and la honda road. This is a major slide that happened about 2 30 this morning. Four to five trees are down. You can see all the mud across the roadway and some power lines are down too so pg e did turn off power in that area. I dont think crews are going to be able to start cleaning this up until they have daylight. And this is close to another slide we had on la honda road just south and east of there. This is a tough area unfortunately and as we know, we could see this throughout the morning commute and throughout the day. Little bit of better news if youre traveling through the walnut creek area, we had a crash clear up. So well talk about that next. Were following breaking news in berkeley where some car owners are getting a rude awakening this morning. Amy hollyfield live at the scene where crews are working to remove a tree. Reporter a huge tree, and look behind me. Theyre hard at work right now, even though it is very early in the morning. We can hear their chain saws piercing the very quiet morning here in this neighborhood in berkeley. That is because the tree also knocked the power out to some customers here. And so, the official the workers here tell me with the outages, it has given them a sense of urgency to get this job done. Theyre also worried that more trees could fall. Thats why they say they want us to stay back a bit and keep at a safe distance because they just dont know what else could happen here. There are a lot of trees here on parkside drive here in berkeley. They say that this huge pine fell last night. They got the call during the rainstorm. And it landed on two cars and also took down some power lines. Wear told there have been no reports that anyone was hurt when this happened. One of the workers for the tree company, though, was telling me just how busy they have been. They were on another job when they got the call to come here to parkside drive in berkeley. That doesnt mean the problems are over. The ground is saturated up here. Look at all that water that just comes from me stepping down here on the ground. And we are on bear creek road, a problem for this guy here. Hes trying to turn here but bear creek road is closed off because of all the mudslides, theyve got trees down, power lines down and just up the road from us is black road and there are problems there as well. Listen in. We kind of ran into this giant mudslide and the trailer attached to us so we couldnt really turn around so easy. Thankfully, the Police Showed up. Reporter yeah, good thing they did because look at where they were, next to a steep cliff, so much mud and water there, so the chp officers went above and beyond. They helped take the trailer off the hitch, turn it around, and then reattach it all in the pouring rain. People were grateful for the help and were able to get out of that dangerous situation and its still very dangerous. New incidents popping up as we speak. Checked the chp website. Trees down. Mudslides. Power lines down. All up here in the santa cruz mountains. Be careful when youre out there. The river is 33. 3 feet right now, expected to crest at nearly 36 feet later around 1 00 this afternoon. And remain at or above flood levels until early tomorrow morning. And then in the east bay, mudslides continue to be a problem. You see right there the damage to a car on knickerbockers lane. This volkswagen got stuck in about 6 inches of mud last night. The mudslide caused a sinkhole and a gas leak and crews had to turn off the water in two homes. More rain could make this huge slide worse. Mud, trees, and debris, two football fields long came crashing down into that home. It was yellow tagged yesterday morning, but red tagged by the end of the day because of all of the rain. The city says the danger is not over yet. The pressure that this hillside is putting on this house is just its phenomenal how much Mother Nature can push around things that are in its way. The homeowner told abc7 News ReporterLaura Anthony that he heard the slide first. He thought it was thunder and then he saw it coming down. Neighbors have been warned to be ready to go at a moments notice. And laura shared her pictures and videos on twitter as you can see there. The Senate Confirmed his nomination in a vote that democrats managed to delay until almost 11 00 last night. Democrats oppose prices support for revamping the medicare program. Republicans say price will help overhaul obamacare. The president s plan to build a wall along the u. S. mexico border could cost as much as 21. 6 billion and take more than three years to build. Thats according to a department of Homeland Security internal report seen by reuters. That price tag, much higher than the 12 billion figure that mr. Trump estimated during his campaign. The plan lays out what it would take to deal with the southern border in three phases, which include fences and walls, covered 1200 miles. We need comprehensive Immigration Reform now. Lawyers for ghost ship Warehouse ManagerDerrick Almena are blaming the biggest fire tragedy in oakland history on the city firefighters. Lawyers say they analyzed the same documents abc7 news reviewed on wednesday. They combined that with other information they gathered and they are now claiming firefighters could have saved more people. Almenas attorneys say firefighters made mistakes and had problem with lep. 36 people died and among their claims, theyre saying firefighters didnt take immediate action after being informed there was smoke and people trapped inside the warehouse. The lawyers say that firefighters didnt use ladders to get to the second story windows. They also claim there was no attempt to rescue people before going to a defensive fire mode to put out that fire. And the lawyers say a fire chief wasnt at their post and arrived more than an hour after the fire started. These documents abc7 reviewed showed that firefighters arrived at the warehouse 79 seconds after the first alarm went off. Abc7 news has reached out to the city of oakland and the lawyers for Derrick Almena. So far, we have not received a response and of course well stay on top of the story and let you know when we do hear back.
