Reporter alma, the settlement reached with the city of oakland is much lower than what jasmine or her original attorney originally asked for, but she told us today she is satisfied with it nonetheless. The morning after the Oakland City Council approved the nearly 1 million settlement in her favor, the young woman at the center of an east bay sex scandal appeared before reporters. I feel happy that i can close this chapter and move on with my life. Reporter now 19, jasmine was just 17 when she began having sex she claims with more than a dozen Police Officers, including some oakland, richmond and livermore. And alameda and Contra Costa County sheriffs. In a late night session, the Oakland City Council approved a 989,000 settlement with jasmine. About a third of that will go to attorneys fees. Most importantly, this case is about bad, bad outrageous behavior on the part of people who are Police Officers who were sworn to uphold the law and engage in regular conduct, violating the very oath of Law Enforcement they had taken. It was in the best interest of the city to settle this matter quickly and fairly. We need to focus our attention on rebuilding the public trust that was so damaged by this incident. The judge today denied a request to release phoebe and kept her bail at 365,000. Today was the first full day of deliberations in the penalty phase of the sierra lamar murder trial. Jurors are deciding whether to sentence Antolin Garcia torres to death or life in prison. Prosecutors said Garcia Torres showed no mercy and should get the death penalty. Democrats are pushing back on allegations that they are delaying the public testimony of carter page. A former Foreign Policy advisor for the trump campaign. Page sent a letter to the Intelligence Committee reiterating his eagerness to have an open meeting to address what he called false or misleading testimony about him. A new york based group investigating a Chinese Company that produces ivanka trump brand shoes is calling for the release of three of its investigators. One was detained and two went missing while working under cover at two factories in china. China labor watch believes the missing men are being held by police or perhaps the factory. A congressional leader is cautioning that americas 40 billion Missile Defense system still has a long way to go before it can be considered fully developed. And for every filled seat were essentially taking another car off the road.
