It is not clear if she was actually hurt by the robbery suspect. Police continue to investigate a Home Invasion robbery. The family in pittsburgh, police a a group of Armed Robbers broke into their home around 10 30 last night. They ordered the family into a downstairs room then made off with several items including jewelry and cash. Paramedics treated one resident but no one was seriously hurt. Police are looking through Surveillance Video to see if they can identify the intruders. New details on the Deadly Police shooting at a restaurant on San Franciscos Market Street last week. Police just released some dramatic Surveillance Video of the suspect attacking a worker with a knife. Reporter well, police have held a town hall meeting in San Francisco for the past five years any time an officer is involved in a shooting. But this is the first such meeting under the new police chief. [ inaudible ]. Get back. Reporter in a Community Meeting a block from where it happened, Police Showed video of the moment 26yearold nicolas was shot and killed by an officer. He had been in this Subway Restaurant where minutes earlier Surveillance Video appears to show him stabbing an employee in a fight behind the counter. Other workers came to help, one apparently trying to subdue him by hitting him with a baking pan when Police Walked in. One officer discharged his firearm striking him. You will see that on video today. Well warn you, the video is graphic. They released it in transparency. The officer fired one shot which hit him in the lower right back. He fell to the ground and died at the scene. This officer who had been involved in two shootings in less than four months. Reporter neighbors took issue he is the same off sore who shot and seriously issued sean moore over a restraining order in january. Overarchingly one question of an officer involved in an incident. Police say the officer opened fire after Police Used Batons and pepper spray on moore. A popular fast food spot in the east bay is now closed. Several customers say they got sick there. Sky 7 was over the in and out in livermore off 580. It voluntarily closed after this incident. County Health Officials are investigating and they say members of a College Softball team became ill after eating at the restaurant on saturday. They suspect its the noro virus. A rash of car fires in the east bay has neighbors concerned and Police Alarmed for a possible fire bug. The latest happened this morning. One in lafayette, another in walnut creek. Abc7 News Reporter amy with this. Reporter they were asleep at their home inside padre street when they heard and smelled something suspicious. My wife woke up and heard kind of a pop. Then we had the strange smell and then the car took off that way from around the corner. Reporter they looked outside to see their suv was on fire. We hadnt driven it since 2 00 in the afternoon. And so they told us last night that it was set. Reporter Fire Fighters then told him they had just put out another car fire 15 minutes earlier and only two miles away from his home. Its pretty strange. Yeah. Reporter the first fire was in walnut creek on leroy lane. They werent the only car fires this week in the county. Take a look at this one. Another car in a driveway. This one in martinez on monday at 3 45 in the morning. Fire fighters have kept all these fires from spreading to the homes, and no one has been hurt. They are investigating whether they are all related. A woman who lives near the two fires that happened this morning tells us she is feeling a bit nervous. We have a car in our driveway, too, and its like, hum, maybe well try to clean out the garage a little bit so we can get it inside. You know, how do you stop someone from doing Something Like that . Reporter Fire Fighters have not made any a refrts and say they dont have any leads. The homeowner here did not want to come out and talk to us but the fire victim in lafayette is shrugging it off saying his car is insured. Hes just glad no one was hurt. In walnut creek, abc7 news. One car crash this morning, we can do it together. Shut down a stretch of a key connecting road between pittsburgh and walnut creek. Sky 7 was above the scene in pittsburgh. The chp says the car was going nearly 100 miles an hour, slammed into a power pole and knocked down an overhead line. You can see the crews there cutting the wire strewn across the pass. The driver was able to walk away without any significant injuries. The road reopened after 90 minutes. We got a better idea today of just what it takes to save a life during an emergency. Abc7 news is at sfo where search a and rescue crews from the coast guard and Fire Department displayed some of their rescue vehicles. They also shared information about search and rescue procedures. The event included team based challenges for responders who say cooperation and collaboration are critical during times of the emergency. A rash of mailbox thefts is preding quickly across the bay area, martinez to livermore now to san jose. Vandals have forcing residences from using their home address for mail. Abc7 News Reporter david louie has the latest example of this problem. Reporter larry and alma, you can see the vandals have already been through this street and this neighborhood. None of these mailboxes is secure right now. Theyve had their locks broken or theyve been pried open. Now, we are told this has been going off and on for six months. Postal inspectors tell us california is number one in the country for this kind of crime. Entire rows of cluster mailboxes have been vandalized on some streets. A letter carrier said it is happening all over san jose. We talked to this resident of bradford way who asked his face not be shown. I think that one had been fixed actually. I was just lucky it wasnt done again. Mr. Damelin reporter with the postal doors open, there is little incentive for them to check for mail at their individual mailboxes because they are wide open. It is very much an open and shut case. Thieves are stealing mail that can be used for identity theft. Residents have to pickup their mail at the Branch Post Office or wait to catch the letter carrier coming down the street. This is the first time ive seen such a bad situation where people are like, you know, get desperate just to get their mail. Reporter a year ago naabc7 news reported how they removed entire set of boxes even with a Security Camera aimed at them. The Postal Service said the problem has grown so much it is taking responsibility for repairs. Whether it owns the mailboxes or not. Its goal to repair or replace broken boxes within 48 hours. At one time what we were doing is we would order the parts as needed. Now we actually have to have orders on hand because these are happening more and more. Reporter postal inspectors are going after the thieves. There were over 1300 cases last year and over 2400 arrests nationwide. But the crisis has created a spike in demand for private mailboxes. We have mid 60s at most east bay locations along the shoreline. As we move farther inland you can find 73 at antioch, 71 at san jose. Very few locations topped out at 70 or above today. Overnight look for increasing clouds, maybe some drizzle along the coast line. Overnight lows will be generally in the low to mid 50s and well have a full moon if you get out there early enough to catch the moon before the clouds thicken. Well see areas of light showers just off the north coast and then as we get into the midmorning hours we will well see those showers moving inland mainly into northern Sonoma County before they start to break up a little bit as they south ward. Youve been extremely critical of the president and im going to read your tweet here. The comey firing raises serious questions whether this is nixonian like abusive power. What dough want to see Going Forward . We need to have an independent bipartisan effort Going Forward to do the investigation. A special prosecutor would be appropriate under the administration, but congress has to assert itself as well as a coequal branch of government that the constitution put in this place to do this. But that requires partnership with the republicans and democrats. Now, before the election, democrats were just as furious with comey as many republicans are now regarding his release about the clinton email case, and in fact today President Trump said comey wasnt doing a good job. So, given that both parties have been upset with comey over the past six months, was he actually doing a good job . It might be a sentiment or evidence that he was doing a good job that both parties were. I think thats less important than the constitution problem were in and the constitutional institutions of congress doing their job and that requires republicans and democrats and a very partisan atmosphere saying this is not about being democrat or republican, its about being a member of congress and making sure there is an investigation so we find out. That is a nice dream or a wish, but i mean youve been around a long time. Given the friction we currently have between the two parties, what are the chances of the two coming together to try to ensure an independent investigation into the possible russian ties with Trump Officials . It does nt seem like the party can get along much on anything. We can. There are things you dont get to this level where you see, but we have partnerships we are very different ideal logically, but thats the bay way the system supposed to work. Because of these things, largely because of big money in our campaigns, it gets harder. This is one of those moments i really think that we are called to be to a higher level. That if the president is innocent as he asserts, i wish he would join us in saying, im innocent, we need an independent investigation and it should be open and part of the constitutional process. In other news today workers on the Hanford Nuclear reservation are making preparations to fill that 400 square foot hole over a tunnel containing radioactive waste. This is as Washington States governor is asking for an investigation. Nael reporter radioactive materials are stored, this area was collapsed. I am concerned about what happened and how the department of energy can give us confidence this will not happen again. Reporter the Hanford Nuclear site in Washington State where plutonium was once extracted for Nuclear Weapons has been closed for 30 years. The only work there now, clean up of enough radioactive debris to fill the super dome. The cavein prompting fears of a radioactive leak and leading to the evacuation of hundreds of workers. They told us take cover and make sure we were safe and all accounted for. Reporter Officials Say no workers were injured. There is no risk to people in nearby communities and they found no radiation was released. Still, they are taking no chances as they fill that 20 foot by 20 foot hole.
