Todays victory is profound in part because this was supposed to be a done deal. We were told seven years ago that this pipeline was going to be approved. It would have carried 800,000 Barrels Per Day through six states to refineries in the gulf coast. The United States is the center of the worlds fraking boom. So we have cheap oil and cheap natural gas. In colloquial terms, we have a lot of this dirty crap. We dont need canadian dirty crap. We cannot afford to play politics with our Nations Energy infrastructure, jobs and the economy. We wont notice any effect from building or not building the keystone xl. Lopez took steps to conceal the gun after the orange safety tip broke off. The deputy who shot him was cleared of criminal wrong doing. In the deposition, lopezs friends said he was going to cover it up because he doesnt want the gun to get seen by other people. And enormous demonstration by students at Berkley High School yesterday will not cost the School District any money. Hundreds of students walked out to protest. Typically, a school would lose money when a student misses school. But the march will be considered a teaching moment and students that took part will not be marked absent. And, in the meantime, police are telling us that theyre talking to even more children who say theyve been victimized by him. 50yearold barry dugar is charged with ten counts of child molestation. He was arrested yesterday. Police have named 7 victims but say more are coming forward. Investigators say they lived in richmond at his group home which is unlicensed. Dugar is a registered sex off d offender who was convicted twice before of molesting children. Dugars group home is near kennedy high school.
