Now at 11 00, a 10monthold rushed to the hospital after a vicious dog attack ends in a hail of bullets. An 80pound animal had the boys head in his mouth. Good evening. Im dan ashley. And im ama daetz. Tonight officers say they had no choice but to shoot and kill the dog. The attack happened this afternoon on fremont street in concord. The baby is being treated at Childrens Hospital oakland, and thats where abc 7 news report yeh katie udas is live with this developing story. Reporter i spoke with the babys father on the phone and he told me hes doing okay but he didnt want to comment. He witnessed with his 7yearold son what police are calling a traumatic event. Shots fired. Shots. Copy, shots fired on the dog. Reporter Concord Police shot and killed a family dog that moments earlier attacked a 10monthold boy. The dog was very aggressive actually. Took an aggressive stance toward our officer. And thats why our officer discharged his firearm. Reporter an officer ran inside to get the baby. When the officer pulled him out, quite the emotional scene. Having to wrap his head. Reporter the boy underwent surgery at oakland Childrens Hospital after suffering bites to the head. Hes expected to be okay. But his 7yearold brother is struggling after witnessing the traumatic attack. The 7yearold started screaming, which caught moms attention. Mom came in there, was able to pull the child away and prevent any further attack. And that probably saved his life. Reporter the German Shepherd mastiff mix named charlie was 80 pounds. The mother stepped out of the room for a moment before the attack happened. Talking to mom, sounds like the dog never had any never showed any signs of aggression before in the past. And mom actually raised this dog since he was a little pup. Reporter neighbors tell abc 7 the dog was aggressive, one neighbor saying it attacked her dog a few years ago. Reporter darngs on tuesday youll remember we showed you flood water gushing from the other side of this wall and now you can see the damage. Coyote creek actually burrowing underneath the wall, filling this Mobile Home Park with several feet of water. And tonight the streets are still caked with mud. The flood water has receded from the south bay Mobile Home Park. Now the focus is getting hot water. I had to buy a hot plate from frys for 20 bucks and using the microwave and heating up water. Reporter Bonnie Medrano is the assistant manager. She and her husband have been without gas for four days and three very cold nights. Its been very hard on him without having the heat and stuff. When youre 70 something. You need your heat. Reporter now theyre among the lucky ones. Their gas is back on. Park utilities is going door to door relighting pilot lights. The great thing about it is that people always smile when you knock on their door and say theyre going to have hot water. Reporter city officials have not completely lifted the Evacuation Order but Park Management is encouraging people to return. Weve had three breakins unfortunately. Weve told them if you can try to come back home at least check on your home. Reporter people continue to toss out their waterlogged and contaminated belongings. These are hard times for flood victims. Janet childs knows. She had to evacuate her mobile home tuesday and shes an expert in traumatic stress. Do one task at a time that you can accomplish. Because that puts you from out of control to in control. The other thing that really helps is being in community. So dont try to go it alone. Last sunday night manny munoz went out to find his car been broken into. Three people jumped and robbed him. They fractured bones in his forehead causing him to suffer seizures. Munoz is now on medical leave trying to recover. Everybody pulled together. Everybodys working extra shifts to make up. And nobody cares. I mean, thats what we do. Thats what you do. You help each other out. They sure are. Neighbors say they just want to help his family with medical expenses. So far theyve raised about 3,500. The woman who claimed in a blog that San Franciscobased uber encourages harassment says shes now the target of a smear campaign. Today susan fowler asked her twitter followers not to give out any personal information about her. The former engineer left uber in december claiming her manager made sexual advances that werent investigated. You have 12,000 candidates that can do the job. Reporter scientists identified 12,000 materials that might work. Trying them all can take decades and millions of dollars. So sindek invented an algorithm that narrowed it down to just 20 materials. His team will now try them in real batteries. So how long before we see their safer batteries in our devices . Tomorrow morning youre going to see the low to mid 30s so that winter chill will be with us. You will also see those spotty showers. I do want to bring in the storm impact scale. This system is a 1 for saturday through monday. Spotty light showers. Rainfall up to a third of an inch and were expecting snow over the highest peaks. You heard correct. Snow over the highest peaks. The hills in Mendocino County looking at some snow showers. 5 00 a. M. Tomorrow. Just spotty showers. I would carry an umbrella if i were you at noontime. Those showers very scant in nature. But as we head into the afternoon and evening this is when the best possibility of seeing that rain moving on shore 6 00 to 10 00 p. M. Tomorrow night. If you have plans keep that in mnd. These are both cold systems. This one on sunday is also a cold one. Its not going to hold a lot of moisture but it certainly will bring us those snow showers right on through the evening hours. Showers and snow showers, excuse me, around 5 00 to 7 00 p. M. We head into 9 00 and well be watching some of those snow showers up to the north. Could see some snow as low as mount tam, Mount Hamilton, mount diablo. Dont be surprised if by monday morning you wake up and youre seeing white. Sunday night those showers continue. We head into monday and this is the best possibility of seeing that snow over Mount Hamilton mixing in with the rain. We continue this trend all the way through monday afternoon and evening. But when you look at the rainfall totals youll see this is nothing to change up your plans over. Rainfall totals are very light. Most areas will be a few hundredths of an inch.
