We are looking at this system as the culprit. Its way to the north. Its going to drop down to the north and east of us and those northwesterly winds transporting the smoke and the bad air quality. See Current Conditions right now for sensitive groups and everyone else. Very unhealthy out there. So thats why we have our air quality advisory continuing today into thursday, 59, nevada , we have low clouds and fog as well. Were 60 in the south bay. And a look outside, itll be gray for quite some time. Then well get into the hazy conditions throughout the afternoon and then looking at those gusty winds in the hills of the north bay, portions of marin, i should say sonoma and also napa, parts of vacaville. And looking at altimira, living on friday night. Heres a look at the north bay. And we have a south wind in general stopping this at 11 00 tonight. And you notice the wind gusts here over 30 miles an hour. It ramps up to 40 miles an hour. And that decreases the moisture in the atmosphere. So its extra dry out there. And heres another look at that trough sliding to the south and east of us. So its going to be today into late thursday until we get into our usual westerly winds. Well, its coming down into the bay area out of the north here. Its a trough. And because this is sliding to the east of us, our winds have shifted. That happened yesterday and that has allowed for the smoke from the anvil fire in Southern Oregon, Northern California, to move into the bay area. So our air quality forecasts and advisory today and tomorrow for moderate air quality. So not much has changed. In fact, getting a little worse before it gets better. 59in nevada, we saw a yesterday how hazy it was out there, 59 in fremont. Not much of a change simply because the upper level winds already look at them. Theyre strengthening Mount Saint Helena here, 22 miles an hour. So theyll continue to strengthen. Theyll continue to come down out of the north. And that is just cutting off that onshore flow that brings us our free air conditioning right . So thats going to resume as we get into the overnight hours, thursday into friday. But our fire danger index goes up with those winds out of the north. So throughout the overnight hours, were going from moderate to high here just where those winds will be, gusting to 30 to 40 miles an hour. Parts of sonoma to parts of around vacaville and napa county. So keep that in mind. Hazy conditions that hasnt changed. Temperatures mainly in the 60s, downtown, low to mid 70s bay shore, maybe a few 80s. But we have the haze that will continue. And then by friday, as fall arrives, better air quality. Parts of the peninsula, the south bay, the oranges. And that means its a good idea to keep those windows closed and get into the recirculating. Some of that air inside your house. Theres a look at the yellows which indicate were going to be hazy again today, taking this through thursday into thursday night. Still in the yellows and the light green there. So its friday when we begin to see this trough head out of town and get a return to that onshore wind flow that will bring good air quality and those blue skies back. 63. In hayward, it is 62. In union city and we have patches of fog. This will all lift for some sun mixed in with the haze and the smoke out there. But temperature wise, really thats doesnt change as we get into your friday. Still 60s and 70s. And then we want to see a couple degrees of warming warming for saturday. But youll notice really not much change out there. So well be looking at comfortable temperatures. And once the smoke moves out into your friday, well be back to those westerly winds transporting that cooler and cleaner air our way.
