december senator feinstein was begin a briefing. she told reporters that the compound stuck out and if pakistan authorities did not know who lived there, they should have been curious to find out. >> was it benign indifference or was it indifference with a motive. i don't know what the answer is and we need to find that out. >> the chair of the senate intelligence committee is promising an investigation and backed away from call to suspend aid to pakistan. >> here's the problem. if we don't what then? and that what then is really important . does china step in. who steps in? >> the raid on the compound and killing of bin laden reignited the debate over water boarding. feinstein saw no evidence that harsh interrogation techniques led to bin laden. >> i know a good deal of how those interrogations were conducted and in my view, nothing justifies the kind of procedures that were used . >> but the republican chair on homeland security said feinstein was wrong. >> information came from colleagues like mohamed after being water boarded relating to the courier and information came . initial information about the cower yir came from cahid sheik mohamed after the water boarding. >> some information about bin laden's courier came from detainees that were water boarded. but it came many months after he was water board information that came out in standard interrogations. senator feinstein said her committee will investigate the event in pakistan and she will not commit to a public hearing. she will get a full briefing. she is scheduled to meet with panetta tomorrow. >> here's what we learned about the raid on the compound. bin laden was not armed. one of the wives tried to rush them and she was shot in the leg. one helicopter was blown up after the raid. they are scouring the items said to include hard drives and dvd's . they showed part of bin laden's skull was blown away. the white house doesn't want to inflame the sentiment but a taliban spokesman said u.s. has not
