But it is not clear if he was shot by police or shot himself. There was a lot of fear the shooter might opened fire on firefighters when they arrived. An update to the shooting spree in kalamazoo, michigan. Jason dalton now facing 16 charges including several counts of murder in connection to the six people that were randomly gunned down saturday night. Dalton was denied bond monday. During the shooting, says they received a complaint about erratic driving by jason dalton during that time. Police say the shooting was random and they have not revealed a possible motive. Prosecutors say jason dalton admitted to the shooting. Dozens of mourners held a candlelight vigil last night to honor the shooting victims. Fivevef the six People Killed were older than 50. We first reported exclusively last week that more than a dozen families banded together to accuse casebolt of physically, verbally and mentally abusing players dating last night, the linnmar School District heard both sides of the argument against casebolt. The distriri said after investigating allegations, they did not find enough evidence to take action. Current members of the Football Team stood by their coaches. Some parents say the abuse was being covered by the district. I applaud you that you have not been in their shoes. That is fine. That is great that you support but when you are on the other side, ititoes not negate what has happened. I see some of you out there and they know that you know these kids. Even though the school board took action last night, concerned parents are taking their case to the state board of educational examiners. A major change coming to members of the cedar rapids friday last night, the school board approved the School Calendar for next year which will include having students dismissed early every friday. Teachers will get to use that time for professional development. We went out to the staff afternoons to the tune of like 80 percent. It was overwhelmingly for friday afternoon. 80 . The plan drew a lot of opposition for concerns about child d re. So t t district asks for other proposals. The cedar rapids School District also is on track to open the Second School this fall. The Leadership Academy will focus on leadership development. The district opened the Academy Magnet school in august. It is one of the only schools in the state. The new school will continue to serve the children of the kenwood neighborhood as well as other families. They have a say in their education. Members of the Iowa Student Union say one of the best ways to accomplish thatats making sure School Boards across the state have at least one student on the board. They also working for a 4 Public Education funding increase throughout the state. They say having handson approach is the best route and accomplishing real change. It is extremely important that students can advocate for what they think is best for education. I would argue that it is them who are affected most by the leaders.
