The first study indicates that babies who are genetically predisposed to developing asthma are less likely to do so if they are breastfed. Researchers looked at genes associated with asthma risk. They found that infants who carried this genotype had a 27percent lower chance of developing respiratory symptoms if they were breastfed. For babies with the genotype who were not breastfed, there was a trend toward increased risk of respiratory symptoms. The second study shows that Breast Cancer survivors who breastfeed their infants have a better chance of longterm survival.
