Another homicide in the des moines area this time outside of a nightclub as police are looking for a person who shot and killed a man and injured 3 others. Deputies responded to a fight evolution nightclub around 2 a. M thats on the citys north side behind the bridgestone plant by interstates 80 and 35. When they arrived, they heard several gunshots. They found 20yearold Dashwan Smith with a gunshot wound and took him to the hospital, where he died. 3 other people also went to the hospital. Des moines had another homicide this weekend plus the first recorded homicide in waukee since 1977 took place early saturday morning, leading to a 14hour manhunt before police captured a suspect. Waterloo police are investigating reports of shots fired. Police responded to a car crash near vinton and courtland streets late this afternoon. Thats when they found a car with bullet holes up against a tree. The waterloo Cedar Falls Courier reports gunfire also hit a house nearby. No one was hurt. The cleanup of Burlington Northern santa fe railcars continues in western wisconsin, one day after 32 cars derailed along the mississippi river. At least 5 of the cars were carrying ethanol when the cars left the tracks outside of alma, wisconsin thats northwest of la crosse. More than 150 people had to evacuate in the hours after the derailment yesterday but Law Enforcement reports no injuries. This comes after a winter with two major derailments here in the tv9 viewing area. In february, a Canadian Pacific train carrying ethanol cars derailed into the mississippi in dubuque county, near balltown. Some of the ethanol drained into nearby soil and water.
