Officers took the boy into custody earlier this week. Mother who said her child was a victim of abuse from a high school helper. She wanted to remain anonymous. She was upset that the school didnt notify her about the investigation. Instead, she heard about it first from marion police. Mary beth haglins bench trial starts on monday meaning a judge will decide the case instead of a jury. The former substitute teacher admitted to having a sexual relationship with a student at cedar rapids washington high school. Sexual exploitation. A judge previously moved her trial to tama county because of pretrial publicity. Now that she has decided to go with a bench trial, it will happen in linn county. Des Moines Police say theyve brought in Mental Health professionals and chaplains after a gunman killed two officers earlier this month.
