Suicidal man. That man opened fire, critically injuring a deputy. The District Attorney has cleared the officer who fired the fatal shot. Jamie leary joins us live from the Parker Police department. The video youre about to see is from the perspective of Parker Police officer ronnie durell. He fired killed suspect randy roddick, bringing his shooting spree to a halt. Where is he at . Front seat. I got him, hes down. Reporter that brief muffleed pop was the fatal shot. Its force the District Attorneys office determined was justified. To know there is an officer down, to know people are being shot at and this guy is armed picture, slow your breathing and pull that trigger one time and end this thing, that is an amazing shot. Reporter investigators say roddick was using a fully automatic ak47, firing shots at officers and bystanders, all unfolding north of sierra mill school. Rod middle school. Roddick had a shotgun, handgun and thousands of rounds of in his vehicle. In his house, a secret room that opened to a guns and ammo room. What if this guys wife had not alerted Law Enforcement to his behavior and what he was doing . Law enforcement wasnt able to try to keep him in this very small area as he loaded his rv full of all of these implements of death . Reporter a couple of the narrowly missing staff. It was a miracle the detective was the only one injured. We got an update today, police say hes doing well and improving every single day. Crews in the city of denver were cleaning out as the homeless have returned to an encampment where they were moved out of earlier this year. Cbs4s Rick Salinger covered the sweep this morning. He is live now and rick, are they being removed this time around . Reporter no, they arent. The strategy is different this time around than it was last to outcries and lawsuits. This time around the city says it is to try to deal with the Public Health risk. Crews from the City Department of public works are coming out here daily now with garbage trucks trying to remove debris. The Sheriffs Department and Denver Police were here as well. They spoke to the Homeless People about keeping the area clean, but did not remove them. A spokesperson for the City Department of Human Services told us the people camped out he right to be in the city. They are thinking about how to deal with these encampments on a case by case basis. Those we spoke with said they prefer to be out here than in the shelters. Then as youre going in there you have to play a ridiculous game with these, the followers in the name sake of jesus, just reporter some of those we spoke with today said their belongings were accidently taken away, including one mans bed.
