strange about the entire situation, and now he is saying that he really doubts his daughter took her own life. what we do know is that she was supposed to be playing on monday at a gulf tournament in alabama. she was supposed to do a qualifying round. then sunday, the day before she was supposed to leave, in the middle of the night she texted the woman who was going to serve as her caddie and says i'm not coming even though her bags were founding to packed. that woman texted back, i hope everything is okay. never hears back. then they discover her dead sunday afternoon. so it was very disturbing obviously to the father. now, he had acknowledged that she had had some problems in the past, financial problems specifically, because in 2008 she had made more than $100,000 on the tour but then in 2009 she'd only made about $26,000 on the tour. so she was struggling with that. but the odd thing is that he said that he was with her last week, and he's also her swing coach, and that she seemed upbeat and bubbly and back to her old self and ready to play. so that's why he finds it very odd that at this particular juncture when she's supposed to go to this tournament she would >> a lot of unknowns here just to be clear, but "the wall street journal" says that federal prosecutors and debt department of justice is investigating whether morgan stanley misled some of their investments. some people are equating this to the charges against goldman sachs. it comes down to some deals that morgan stanley made. let's run quickly through the deals. there were two of them. morgan stanley worked with citigroup and ubs, two other big banks, it form these mortgage deals. morgan stanley was on the short side, that they were betting against them, that the housing market would flounder as it did. morgan stanley made $400 million. they were on the long side betting that the housing market would rise. the question is ethically can they be on both sides. also, what you have to do is put this in comparison where morgan stanley was over the entire year of 2007 on the housing market, and as you see right there, morgan stanley lost nearly $10$ on its bets in the housing market in 2007. so there are these reports of an investigation, the department of justice isn't saying whether or not it's investigating, and morgan stanley isn't saying either. they said they haven't had any reports that there is an investigation. so they haven't even been told by the department of justice whether there's an investigation or not. a lot of questions. on wall street they're watching it closely. shares of morgan stanley are down about 2.2% right now. goldman sachs has fraud charge against it by the sec. you've got to think about these cases. it's very hard sometimes for the government to prove these cases. but one law professor from tulane university had insight saying listen, sometimes these charges are brought or an investigation is launched, not just about winning but the purpose is to scare the heck out of the banks so they think more abouts they disclosure. they think about their financial products, something like that. you wonder what's going on here. you try to find out from the department of justice. we'll keep it updated for you. >> there's a lot of fear out there. >> that's a big change. we'll see. >> quick check of wall street. let's hit the big board. things are looking up. not bad. good news on u.s. exports and be thor outlook for the economy. 16 on the upside with eight or nine minutes in the trading day. be right back. learning more right now about a train derailment in eastern connecticut. here's the picture wes ear getting in. this train derailed near route 12 and lisbon, sending a number of containers into a nearby river. the area has been blocked off by police. state police say nine containers derailed. three tumbled down this embankment here. authorities say a valve on a car that carries latex is leaking, but the only car with hazardous material is virtually empty and had just residue in it. so there are no reports of injuries right now, but obviously keeping our eye on this one for you. we've also been following a whale entangled in some sort of rope or line in dana point harb harbor. i believe that's the whale you see just above the water. a detanglement team has successfully removed one ten-foot line that was apparently wrapped around a flipper. and there appeared to be another smaller piece of rope around the tail. since freeing the longer line, the whale we hear is much more active now. it's swimming well. seeming to be headed back out to see. the whale is a month behind in its migration, and the rest of its pod is migrating to alaska. but looks like it's going to get back into formation there, fortunately. a former kindergarten teacher in georgia has been acquitted on child molestation charges. >> number one, not guilty. >> do you remember the cheers there of friends and family tonya craft. she lost her job, home and custody of her two children. she says in spite of this verdict, she does not feel like a winner. >> i thank god, i thank my mom and my dad. there can be restoration and there can be awareness for others to not go through this. but there's two birthdays for my daughter that i'll never get back. and there's no winner, even all the children involved in this, there's no winners. >> craft's attorneys have filed a motion to regain custody of her son and daughter, and they say they've contacted the fbi and the u.s. attorney's office about what they say is the, quote, fraudulent behavior of a judge and a d.a. in this case. i want to show you new information in the death of pro golfer erica blasberg.
