that is not an event. it's a process. is he on that process? i will say i was kind of concerned about the fact that he deflected virtually all personal questions with one or two-word answers. and the only time he seemed to want to talk was when people threw him these softballs about whether he's being victimized by the media. and he said, kwlourks you know iwas criticized for going to a rock concert, even though the members are my friends. and the helicopters are overhead. the paparazzi are at the front gate. it says he's still playing the victim to some degree and that's not what recovery is about. that's called a pity party in recovery lingo. so i wonder if he's still on the pity party bandwagon or if he's really gotten to the point where i'm going to take responsibility for my actions and acknowledge the only reason why the helicopters are overhead is because of his behavior. >> yeah. i think he's playing a pr game. he's saying, oh, look at me. they're all over me. i can't even go to a concert to see my friends. let's get vinnie politan in here. one of the hosts of "in session" on our sister network trutv. >> i was listening a lot to the media. i was wondering is there going to be some cowboy in there. and it really wasn't that way. they were tiptoeing around everything. notice their choice of language. instead of talking about strippers and porn stars and affairs and sex, they talked about everything that has happened. and they sort of just timidly said in light of everything that has happened. so it seems to me the reporters that were in that room asking the questions wanted to stay somewhat on tiger's good side because they want to get perhaps the interviews and the interviews and the access down the road. so i thought they were a little timid. >> yeah, no, good point there. like you said, meandering around those personal questions. and when he got them, as jane and i pointed out, he's deflecting quickly. rafer weigel was in there. asked one of the questions. he talked to tiger about family time and how this fits into the new golf schedule. we don't have rafer yet. we'll talk to him in just a minute as he's getting out of that press conference. another one who has covered golf for a long time, mike walker jr., "golf" magazine. is this what you expected or did you expect reporters to vinnie's point, to be a little more pointed? >> i have been through a lot of tiger woods' press conferences. that's generally how it goes. i thing report ears it's fair to criticize them being timid. but tiger has done so many of these. he's always going to be in control. you saw how he deflects the questions about his personal life. he feels like he talked about it at augusta and he's not going to talk about anything relating to his wife, to the affairs. other than vaguely the language of recovery. and he'll talk about theed me dwlaerks paparazzi. but i think he feels like he's talked about it. he took the question about the drug doctor. i think he feels that's fair game but the family stuff he's never wanted to talk about it. i don't think it's ever going to change. >> so you don't think anything's changed in the press corps that covers him. he's not teflon anymore. he has been dinged up in a big way. so you don't think people are going to get a little more aggressive with him? you shouldn't be a co-dependent. you shouldn't enable. you shouldn't pretend to the addict like their problem does not exist. and i think that this particular group of questions really essentially did that. they pretended that the problem, for the most part, didn't exist. they danced around the problem. and i don't think that's healthy for him. ultimately, i think he is going to have to answer a real question about the real scandal and use the word sex in a sentence for him to really sort of burst the bubble so that we can all go, oh, he said it and move on. and until he does that, we're all going to harp on it because there's a natural human urge to want to have people come clean. especially when they are this famous and this rich. >> he was asked about being on the road and temptation. we'll talk about that. we're also going to be talking to our very own rafer weigel. he was in the room and asked him a question about family. join auns facebook or call us 1-877-tell-hln. hey -- who's our best presentation guy?
