And Newt Gingrich says we should start to question whether a judge can do his or her job because of his race or ethnicity, you begin to destroy the country. Then listen to paul ryan a short time ago. I disavow these comments. I regret those comments that he made. I dont think claiming a person cant do their job because of their race is sort of like the textbook definition of a racist comment. I think that should be absolutely disavowed. It is absolutely unacceptable. Just a short time ago, the only person who came to Donald Trumps defense, at least prominent politician, was governor Chris Christie of new jersey. It was clear that he didnt really want to get too far into this. He kept on wanting to leave but reporters got some comments from him. I know donald trump. Ive known him for 14 years. And donald trump is not a racist. So the allegations that he is are absolutely contrary to every experience ive had with him over the last 14 years. So were going to end it there. Congressman ryan is entitled to his opinion, as is everybody else who has an opinion on this. Ive expressed mine, and if all were going to do is talk about this, im going to get in the car and go back because ive given you my opinion. So he ended up getting in the car and coming to trump tower. Here is the problem for donald trump and the republicans. At a time when they should be in a position to hammer the democrats, theyre getting hammered by the democrats instead. I think its like other things that happen in the past. This is going to fade to some degree. The problem is that when donald trump said his other incendiary comments for which he became more popular, that was at the beginning of and in the height of the primary process when you speak to the base and try to energize people who are drought republicans. He is after the great middle of america now and a lot of people have trouble with his comments. I spoke to a lot off trump surrogates today and people on the campaign and theyre all kind of quietly shaking their heads as to why he did this. One fellow from north dakota who is a big trump supporter who told me what we love about donald trump, he says whats on his mind. Thats also what we dont like about him. Can you have it both ways. Well, from time to time you can, but well have to see how it all flushes out. So trump facing growing backlash over his behavior from top republicans, including arizona senator jeff flake who today said he cannot support the Presumptive Republican nominee. He was not my first choice, nor my 17th choice. But hes the nominee and well have to deal with that. I hope that he changes. We havent yet seen youre not endorsing him. No. No. Its uncomfortable not having endorsed the republican nominee. I have to say. But i cant at this point. I hope to support the nominee, but i certainly cant now. You were on a phone call with donald trump and his top surrogates and supporters. Bloomberg reported that there was a lot of well, concern on the call, and that donald trump basically said to the surrogates, look, you have to continue to go after reporters and you have to continue to go after this judge. Is that what happened . Well, with all due respect to bloomberg, thats not what happened. As you know, im not is surrogate. I am a supporter and there are times i want to learn more about an issue and this happened to be one of them. So i asked to be on the phone call. He wanted to explain to me and the others whats going on with the case because there is a tremendous amount of misinformation out there. I found it helpful to understand why hes so adamant about getting out there and sometimes prosecutesing this case on his behalf. He has over 10,000 letters and emails and video, testimony saying how wonderful this course was. So that being said he has the right as a plaintiff or a defendant with be they have the right to get out there and speak their peace about their case. True. But i think the questions for voters, do they really even care about this case, and is the fact that donald trump keeps talking about it a negative . Is it selfdestructive . Take away the comments he had about the hispanic judge. Does anybody stand up to him on these calls . I asked the very specific question about when were going to start shifting to hillary and prosecuting her lack of experience when it comes to Foreign Policy and a whole host of other things. So, yes, me and others speak up in a very regular and consistent basis. Im sure thats why Chris Christie is there today. But when you look at this particular case, i remember very distinctly that the democrats have been pushing, asking the media to ask about this, ask about there, to kind of detract about the failed candidacy, quite frankly, of had, and the battle between bernie and hillary. So every time he sits down hes asked the question. Hes obviously going to answer it and he feels very adamant that hes right. But hes been bringing this up on his own, this whole Trump University thing. He talked about it for ten minutes in san diego last yewee when it was not provoked. I think a lot of his supporters and you are one ever them so answer this for me wouldnt you rather have him talking about the economy . Of course. As these requests would require the agency to locate, review, redact and arrange for inspection, a vast quantity of material, the agency need not honor them. Marco rubio signed a pledge during the campaign he would support the nominee. He thought long and hard about that and hell stick to his pledge. That said, the differences between he and donald trump havent changed. Marco has every right to disagree with the nominees disagree with the nominees policies and if asked to speak at a convention i would expect marco would make those differences very, very clear. Marco strongly believe we need to embrace the next generation of conservatism. We need reform similar to what paul ryan talked about this morning to help more americans achieve the American Dream than ever before. Thats not what donald trump is talking about. Hes talking about civil lawsuits and Trump University. Thats a problem. One thing for sure is that donald trump has changed the way in which you would advise people to do campaigns because the teleprompter speech and 30second perfect commercials, people arent going to be interested in that anymore after donald trump, are they . Thats exactly right. Two of my colleagues from the campaign started a new firm that will help candidates and organizations communicate in the 21st century. We recognize that the way people receive information today is really different than it was just five years ago. Ive been involved in every president ial campaign for the last decade and it was remarkable how different this one was and the way receive people information. That means people need to communicate differently. They definitely do, but will Hillary Clinton be able to break through teflon trump . No other republican did. It is a real challenge. Shes running a very conventional campaign. Shes running an asymmetrical one right now. I think if from the day to day news cycles he continues to win in terms of how much information is getting out there and what people are receiving, she has the advantage when it comes to the electoral map and the countrys changing demographics and will ideally probably be enough to win but as we look at the last six months, it is hard to predict.
