Now after today ill be the former side kick to gretchen carlson. No way. I know youre going to be fantastic. We have so much news to get to today. Looking forward to it. He me as well. Thank you so much, governor. Breaking right now. Torontos rehabilitated cracksmoking mayor may be spending his last day in charge. Mayor rob ford reportedly dropping his bid for mayor in next months election. Apparently not for the reasons you may think. Trace gallagher live with mosh on that. Ill till, gretchen. We thought the News Conference was going to be the top of the hour, but we still have not gotten a signal. It might be at mount sinai hospital where rob ford is being treated for a mass in his stomach or it might be at city hall where his brother doug ford might make a statement. Now, heres the reason. You might want to get a score card because we have some Musical Chairs going on in the toronto mayors race. We have just learned an hour ago that rob ford has pulled out of the race because he was diagnosed with that stomach mass. He has been biopsied. He has pulled out. Meantime, his brother doug ford who was the city councilman of toronto has now decided he will run for mayor in his brothers place. Rob ford will not run for mayor, but he will run for city council. Thats why we did the News Conference to make this all out. It was a few days ago when rob ford had some extreme abdomenal main. He went to the hospital. They found that mass inside his stomach. The doctors said it was a fair sized mass, and they did the biopsy. We wont know the results until next week. Rob ford has issued a statement saying and im quoting here now i could be facing the battle of my lifetime. I want the people of toronto to know that i intend to face this challenge head on and win. With my family and doctors, i know i need to focus on getting better. There is much work to be done, and i cant give it my all at this point. Now, despite the fact that this cracksmoking mayor has been in the news quite often over the past year, his popularity remained fairly even. In recent polls his opponent, a man named john tory, was running at about 40 in the polls and rob ford was running about 28 in the polls. Well, now the deadline was at 2 00 eastern time for ford to drop out. It was also at 2 00 eastern time for anybody else to get in. The headline here is were awaiting the News Conference. Rob ford is out in the mayors race. His brother, doug ford, is in in the mayobut, yet, rob ford will run for his Old City Council seat while he awaits results of this biopsy from the in as his stomach. He also had a tumor back in 2009. We should note, gretchen, in his appendix, and he has been hospitalized a couple of other times. Once for trouble breathing, and once for kidney stones. When the News Conference comes up, if news is made, well get back to you. All right. Excellent report, trace. Let me just ask you this. Why or do we know why he has agreed that he will run for a City Council Seat but not for the mayors position . He didnt he didnt explain that. I mean, he is saying that he has the battle of his life right now and he cannot put his full heart into the mayors race. As to why he decided to take his old position back or at least run for his old position in city council, he dent explain. We also know theres a nephew, his name is mike ford, who was going to run for city council, and he has dropped out of the race altogether. The brother flipflops. The nephew gets out altogether, and were waiting for the explanation from the brother, doug ford, to see if this late stage in the game if he thinks he might stand a chance to overcome his opponent now john torewho has a lead in this race. Trace gallagher, thank you so much. Lets move on now to the Terror Threat in the middle east. Still no word of a larger Bombing Campaign being unleashed on isis. Secretary of state john kerry refusing to call the latest military action a war, but instead a counterterrorism operation. Well, now were hearing within two days of the president s announcement to expand air strikes and to degrade and ultimately destroy the group, isis membership is ballooning. According to the cia, its now triple threat that it was in june. Growing from nearly 10,000 militants to as many as 32,000. Molly, live for us at the white house. Molly, is the president going to ask congress to sign on to the military action, and sometime relatively soon . Gretchen, not in any formal sense. The president s spokesman just said the president obama would welcome support from congress, but the president doesnt believe he needs it to carry out air strikes in syria. Heres more. It is the view of this administration and the president S National Security team specifically that additional authorization from congress is not required, that he has the authority that he needs to order the military action that he has to degrade and ultimately destroy isil. Also pentagon Officials Say they are about to turn up the heat on isis. The coming days were going to be more aggressive, and shift a focus from what has been to date primarily defensive in nature rather than more offensive in nature. Gretchen, as for the increasing numbers of isis fighters, this is just happening now in the white house briefing. Thats an indication that the Islamic Terror Group that is had some postrecruiting success, but josh, ernest went on to say that the administration believes that the president s strategy will be enough to counter that threat. Gretchen. Its pretty scary to go from 10,000 to 32,000 just in a couple of months. All right. So republicans say that were wul at war even if the white house isnt really calling it a war, so which one is it . Gop lawmakers say secretary of state john kerry may not call it a war, but isis is certainly at war with us. They contend that the obama strais wants to downplay the threat level for political reasons. I think the reason why the president had such a hard time making a decision to finally i think do the right thing to go into syria is that he could get his head wrapped around isis because isis defies his entire Campaign Narrative that he has ended the war on terror, that al qaeda is on the run and this whole thing is over when, in fact, the threat level has gone up, not down. The chairman of the House Homeland SecurityCommittee Says its necessary tolg after isis inside syria because the head of the snake is in syria. Gretchen. All right, molly. Live for us at the white house. Thank you. Also today, some new twists in the ray rice investigation. Raising questions about nfl commissioner roger good lel. A team owner telling the wall street journal that goodell lamed that he went easy on rice because he felt uncomfortable challenging his fiances story. Well, she apparently claimed she lost consciousness after falling in the casino elevator during that scuffle. Several sources close to rice told espn that he came clean telling goodell everything, though the sources differ on key details. They all disagree with goodells claim that the exact circumstances remained unclear until the elevator video came out. Meanwhile, 16 female senators are calling for the mfl to establish a zero tolerance policy on Domestic Violence. Some democrats are pushing for a congressional investigation. Bring in ellise who is a staff writer for the hill. The first obvious question, what business of it is congress to get into something with the nfl . Its a good question. That is one side of the republican talking points here, but on the other side, they have a historical precedent where republican chairman of committees have, in fact, launched hearings to do with pro sports. Take an example in 2005 when tom davis who was a republican congressman brought mark mcguire before congress and almost made him cry in that case. There was a major congressional investigation into doping in baseball. The Republican Party in congress right now is divided about whether congress ought to be involved in the kind of moral investigation of what the nfl is doing. All i remember from that baseball situation no matter what you want to call it is mark mcguire just kept taking the fix. I think a lot of people at home right now are thinking, all right, congress has so many problems that they actually havent gotten to with regard to things that actually affect our day to day living, and the money that we pay in taxes, so is it really worth it to have them assemble especially if they dont come up with solutions . Its a good question. Right now congress has very little time to get its work done before the november election. In fact, they are trying to get everything done by the end of next week so they can go out of town to campaign, and that includes passing a very complicated government funding bill to avoid a shutdown on october 1st. They certainly have plenty to do. It seems ub likely from just the scheduling perspective that they would be able to fit in a hearing on the nfl. At the same time there is also an incentive in congress particularly among republican allies of the league not necessarily to come down hard on them until they know whats going to happen with roger goodell. I think that that is what darryl issa, the head of the House Oversight committee is waiting to see. Whats the next shoe thats going to drop . What did congress do . I think a lot of us are saying they can make some noise, they can turn up the heat, but what are they going to pass a law to say that they cant do what they cant do, which is to beat up a woman . Theres already a law against that. Its very unlikely that congress would pass anything to do with the specific scandal, but they have hard power and soft power. They do have the ability to call for major cultural figures and call them out for not handling situations well, and i think there are a lot of people in the public, including on the right who want to see the nfl do a better job when it comes to Domestic Violence. We can also talk about this in terms of the campaign. You know, republicans are going for centrist women in order to win the senate. It might not be such a bad idea for them to go for this issue, which is clearly resonating with women around the country. Thank you very much. Thank you both. Dont miss governor huckabees exclusive interview with actress and activist robin givens. That is saturday and sunday on huckabee at 8 00 p. M. Eastern right here on the fox news channel. Time for my take on this topic. We aunl congress is really good at setting up hearings and talking about issues at length, but the problem is many times we as the American Public dont end up seeing a lot of solutions. Its frustrating, right . Our taxpayer dollars should give us more in return. In this case, though, if i were a member of congress, i would also have signed a letter to the nfl urging the league to institute a zero tolerance policy for Domestic Violence. As i state here before, my eyes were opened wide after i did a 30part series on Domestic Violence when i worked in tv in dallas. Im not sure members of congress can actually cause any changes to happen within the nfl, but at the very least im hoping they can inform the public what a serious problem this is and, of course, in the end help provide solutions and answers for the hundreds of thousands of victims who are currently suffering and trying to find a way out. Some may be watching right now. Coming up on the show the cia saying isis has three times as many fighters as they first thought. Now the former head of the agency retired general David Petraeus who also orchestrated the surge in iraq says america should be prepared to be in this fight for the long haul. Well, and i think that the president has been quite up front. Other officials have been up front recognizing that this is going to be years, not months. The white house and pentagon now officially saying without question we are at war with isis. The white house finally calling the fight what it is, as we get shocking new numbers showing the terror group growing three fold in just the last few months. Meanwhile, former cia director and top u. S. Commander in iraq and afghanistan general David Petraeus saying we ought to keep some perspective about the terror group and that the campaign in syria is likely the toughest challenge in the president s new plan. Isil in iraq should not be overestimated. This in many respects is that it has nowhere near the roots, the numbers, and the structure that al qaeda in iraq and the associated sunni insurgents had. This is a very, very different matter. In syria the, you know again, you have to have a ground force. Heres the thing. Theyre actually calling it now a war. What was the hesitation . Now it may be that as many as 31,500 people. I would say thats a heck of a lot different than the feeting a counterterrorist operation like al qaeda and instead fighting isis, which is really war. Colonel, you know, the president once said this was the jv team. Looks like theyve gotten their letter jackets as of now. They certainly have come into their own. Why did it take them so long . Not so much the intelligence agencies, but the white house. Why did it take them so long to understand the real threat of isis . What a great question, governor. You have said one time earlier here on tv that all the teams he was getting his intelligence briefings, he was sitting there not paying attention and instead thinking about his golf swing. I do believe that for the most part the Intelligence Community did their very best to convince the white house and the president that this really was a big threat and a growing threat, and i think the white house just preferred not to hear it because it didnt fit the story line that they have had for a long time. It got finally to the point where they had to admit it, and certainly, you know, we have a long way to go to overcome the problems that have been presented to us by these long delays in decision making. Certainly, the pentagon, weve listened to so many briefings over the last couple of weeks. They were emfat ebbing about the fact that they always had a strategy, so if you read between the lines, they had a strategy. It was the white house that did not. I want to ask you one final question. We rarely hear from general David Petraeus anymore. What did you make of his comments . I think they prefer he not come out and talk too much because he is stepping up to the plate a little bit. This is a different fight than we fought with in al qaeda in iraq when he was in charge of the surge when we were really talking about insurgents, but i think isis is both insurgent and a conventional army on some level. I do i dont necessarily agree totally with general petraeus. S i think were looking at a much bigger threat. I think al qaeda in iraq, we did defeat them. We did a good job. Were not going to fight the same kind of battles as we go after isis, which controls upwards of eight Million People right now. Thats much different than what we were dealing with in iraq. All right. Lieutenant colonel bill cowan, i dont know who has the better oneliners. You or the gov. Thanks. All right. Have a fantastic weekend. Thank you. Heres whats coming up. In the meantime, pricey bids today on a collection of vintage muscle cars. They were seized from the former owner who is not driving them anywhere because, you know what, he is facing about 20 years behind bars now. Senior correspondent Rick Leventhal is at the auction in new jersey. Why was the owner busted . According to feds, david nichol made some 33 million off of a scam bribing doctors for unnecessary tests for patients, and he spent 5 million of that money on some pretty incredible cars, including the rare vintage muscle cars, like this 1969 cam air wroe. When nichol was busted feds seized his property, and that led to todays auction which compare these cars to artwork, like picasso or rembrandt, and there are at least 150 car buffs in the room when dozens more and dozens more online when this auction took place. Some of the people were bidding hundreds of thousands of dollars on the vehicles, including a new jersey couple that won a 1971 plymouth hemi cuda with a top bid. Why is it worth so much . Its one of 148 ever made. Theres a lot less than that. 1971 in the cuda world is top of the mark. And this is the car he paid all that money for. Its in pieces. Rich says once its assembled, gretchen, it will be worth about half a million dollars. 347,000 for i thought you were going to show me one of those shiny cars that somebody would spend that kaf kind of money on. When you add it all up today, how much did the feds actually make today . What did they clear . They expected to earn about 2 million. They actually made over 2. 5 million. That chevy novembero that went for 400,000, but this car was the top price right here. This 1970 plymouth hemi super bird went for 575,000. We sold cars. We sold property. We sold jewelry. Even horses. Weve never sold this much horsepower in one event. The combined horsepower of these nine cars was 3,705 horsepowers. Well never see that again with muscle cars. Want this type of collection. And, grepen, the guy who bought this car told me he is not going to drive it ever. He is going to flip it. He is going to sell it. He thinks commite get about 800,000 for it. All right. Rick levinthal, i have a sneaking suspicion you didnt bid on neglect. Nope. Cant afford it. Who can . All right, thanks so much. Coming up, teaming up to fight isis. Secretary of state john kerry he is in turkey trying to build a coalition against the terror group. Will pledges of support translate actually into real help. Our panel with some real talk on that. And it seems that a new diet fad pops up about every day, so what really works . Some of our colleagues at fox will reveal how they keep the pounds off. I have oatmeal every morning. All right . I have one latte, whole milk, no sugar. I always carry a banana. Can this decadent, fruittop pastry with indulgent streusel crumbles be from. Fiber one . Fiber one streusel. Available at walmart. John kerry in turkey today fighting support to fight isis. It comes a day after the u. S. Signed up ten arab allies. A major step in building Regional Support for the president s plan to strike isis militants in iraq and syria. Leslie marshall is a syndicated radio talk show host and fox news center, and shes here in studio today. Yeah. Lisa boost is a senior director of black rock group, also here in studio. Great to have the both of you. Thank you for having us. Leslie, we have these arab countries who actually one of them the uae came out even before president obama did and had somewhat of a strategy to take on isis. Now theyre all coming together. Is this going to be easy for the president to get the rest of the european nations and then all of them together to feet isis . I think yeah. I think quite frankly this puts congress in a very precarious position because both democrats and republicans have been saying i want to see who these alleez are. We need the arab world to sign on. Well, they have. I think right now what it becomes is not just its not president obama or the United States against isis. Its the world against terrorism. Its the world against murderers. Its the world against this organization because although theyve been local and regional, you have so many outsiders joining this group, and they have huge global aspirations. This is dangerous. This is not the same as somalia. This is not the same as yemen. Its very, very different. Yet, lisa, there was some hesitation yesterday during our show. We were reporting that even Great Britain might not be on board to head air strikes in syria. Germany. Some people were pos tulating that maybe its because the president led from behind in the beginning and everyone looks to the u. S. To be the huge leader out front. We should be that leader up front, but, unfortunately, we havent been. I think what weve seen is president obama has led with Campaign Promises instead of whats International Security best interests. I think thats what were seeing is because the arab nation that is have signed on, they have done so tepidly, and the reason being because president obama has not shown the commitment and resolve that is needed to defeat isis. If you look at operation desert storm, george h. W. Bush was able to build one of the largest coalitions since world war ii, and those Ground Forces were able to defeat iraqi forces within 100 hours. People are more weary now. Times have changed since he put that coalition together. Do you agree with that . I agree that americans are warweary, and when you look at the polls and just see the fear. You see the fear of the American People of isis, not just the aspirations, but how Many Americans could be with isis, how many members of isis could be here, americans no question want us to take military action. Americans no question support the strikes. If you look at question by question, technically the americans are supporting what the president has put forth. Even general petraeus said its a good first step. You could argue, lisa, that the president then reacted to what americans were thinking because the last poll was that 94 of americans knew about isis. I cant think of any poll in recent times where americans knew about 94 of anything. Half cant even name who the Vice President is. Exactly. I think you had mentioned, you know, americans were warweary, and i think to a certain degree, but i think now that were seeing this huge threat that isis poses, not just to america but the rest of the world, they think americans are sort of changing that perception, and if we want to talk about polls, a majority of americans dont trust president obama. They dont trust his leadership, and they dont trust his leadership on national security. So i think that poses a real threat to president obama and, you know, its sort of i think it just highlights just how poorly president obama has done. We havent seen those types of, you know we saw them yesterday. Record lows as far as approval on syria, iraq. Look at why were facing this in the first place. President obama undermeaned his military advisors and failed. He didnt have the political fortitude to keep a residual force in iraq. Hopefully now everyone will move forward. A coalition can be formed. Nobody wants isis here on the homefront. Leslie and lisa, thank you. Thank you so much. Well, it seems like every day theres a new medical study or fad diet claiming to be the next best thing in weight loss. So i asked some of my colleagues what they eat for lunch and just how healthy they really are. See if you think theyre telling the truth. This is a glamorous kitchen. Its on the 17th floor. Lets just take a peek inside the refrigerator and see what people are going to eat today. Somebody is going to be healthy with cucumbers. All right. Theres my lunch. Lean cuisine. Youre in pretty fwood shape. You must eat healthy on a daily basis. Yes. Im dieting constantly. In the middle of a big cleanse. I have a sneaking suspicion that you eat healthy, right . I fwli about a half a cup of rice, a chicken breast, and a cup of mixed vegetables. I have oatmeal every morning. All right . I have one latte, whole milk, no sugar. I always carry a banana. I have this gigantic thing of well, at least theyre healthy for you. Roasted almonds. You have to remind yourself, okay, thats the ninth handful of almonds you had, so could you stop now . Homemade gran oela. Thats what i keep zoosh you made that . I do. I make my granola. Are you going to be the one person that doesnt eat healthy . No, i do. I put off i havent cleaned it in a while, clearly, but i make shake with it. You know, thank you for i need to lean this. Liz, have you cleaned it yet . I got to tell you, governor, she had not used that magic whatever that thing was to make smoothies in, like, ions. I dont think the e. P. A. Would approve of that being used for beverage making. All right. Lets talk a little bet about Healthy Eating because i know you and i share something in common. We both have struggled with our weight. I seem to have struggled with it a whole lot more than you. I was a very chubby kid, and my favorite activity to do is eat. What kind of tips do you do to keep everything in moderation . Hard its thing for me is the travel schedule because its very difficult to eat on the road. We have to think about lots of water, try to walk, but the hard part is staying away from the obvious easy layups of fast food. What im trying to do, im just trying to eat liberals for lunch these days. Its much lower in calories. Now, wait a minute. See, i told folks we would have pictures of you. O bad. This is want embarrassing at all. I ran four marathons, in fact. Look at you. Yeah. Four marathons . I did. Yeah. That takes a heck of a lot of training. The bad part is when you hurt your knee and you cant run those kind of things and you still eat like you were running a marathon, thats not a good combination. Youre fabulous and you look great. Well, thank you. Youre very polite. Very kind. Well, anyway, we all struggle with that. Hey, time to check in with shepherd smith from the fox news desk. Youre very thin these days. Youre fit. Six heinekens and a shot of jamison. I might have to join you with us. Theyre always available here at the news day. President obama has now signed off on targeting and killing leaders of the islamic state. So how exactly is the pentagon going to do that . Well speak with robert young pelton, author of the worlds most dangerous places, about how the military can zero in on important members of that group. Theyll also explain why taking out the number one guy doesnt always put an end to the terror. Thats coming up next. See you then. All right, shep. Thank you. Football fans showing their support for ray rice. I still like ray rice as a player and a person. What he does off the field, you know, shouldnt matter whether i wear his shirt or not. Really . Many of them, including women, wearing the jersey of the suspended player at last nights ravens game against the pittsburgh steelers. Why are they sticking by him . Plus, stunning video to show you free divers swimming with sharks. And living to tell the tale. Another incredible animal story. How this cat survived a fall from a highrise building and used up, well, at least one of its nine lives. Sflirchlt welcome fans of the matchup between the ravens and steelers raising quite a few eyebrows. Sticking up for ray rice with what they wore. Many of them women wearing his swrerzy, number 27, saying that he deserves another chance. I still think he is a good person who made one big mistake. Talks about every man. This could be speculation always, but you cant tell what happened in their relationship or what is in their marriage. Host of tvs judge alex, ari is the ceo of quantum network. Many beam thought the punishment was lean yebt, but what do you make of the fansz wearing the jersey and saying, eh, you know, Second Chance is what the american spirit is all about. Im okay with Second Chances. Everybody makes a mistake. I understand some of the points. She shubt have hit him. If you hit a guy, you better expect to get hit back. One, i dont believe thats true. You shouldnt necessarily you shouldnt hit a guy, clearly, but you shouldnt expect to get hit back either. In this situation its want like a man in the elevator. If a small man had hit ray rice and he knocked him unconscious. Its a selfdefense, and, you know, you started it. When you are in a relationship, when its a wife, its not a threatening person. Its not somebody who you dont know what their motive is. Its your wife. The love of your life. He could have restrained her. He could have put her in a bear hug or acted like jayzee did where he got assaulted by his by his wifes sister, and he sat there and did nothing. Ari, when i listen to those comments, im thinking to myself do people not fully understand the scope of Domestic Violence . I dont think they get it or really understand, a, what it is, and i think theyre so infa infactuated with being in touch with celebrity or so passionate about football, talk about our society, if this is becoming the norm to get behind celebrities or football stars that are apparently being, you know, doing a cool act. I have seen a lot of this stuff on radio and tv, people talking about it, and you have the demographic. Whats fascinating is you have this young demographic, and these football stars are their idols. Wron what more they have so see. We saw this video. He knocked her out cold. Lets talk about Second Chances. Even the woman that was interviewed was talking about giving him a Second Chance. I have a lot of clients that run smaller companies, and they have issues with their employees. This kind of thing happens. Theres drug abuse. Theres Domestic Violence. I mean, really bad things. Now, in the case of the nfl, this is a public figure setting an xamp to do what they had to do. It was the right thing to do. It was a serious thing. I think they should be doing it more with some other nfl mraerz as well. Sorry for cutting in. With all due respect, you talked about Second Chances, you know, you throw a punch and hit somebody, theres no Second Chance. I think its very i think its very, very black and white. Dont throw his entire career. 100 should. If you pick your hand up at another human being, its zero tolerance. The consequences thats one thing. Okay . If somebody does make a mistake, and i see it. Its not a mistake. If i forget to put the coke the cocaptain on the thats a mistake. There could be thats reality. Back to the fact that they were wearing the jerseys and seemingly thinking that there wasnt that much wrong thats just sick. That made me feel, judge, like maybe they thought that Domestic Violence is something that just happens once and they dont go home and its not a repeat offender type thing. This is a public place, and it makes you think if thats what he is willing to do in public, whats going on at home . The Counter Point to that, being a judge, i know people who have a history of doing that dont usually have a clean record. It might have been an isolated drunken incident, but the nfl never ever happens once. The prosecutors did not do him any favor by giving him a slap on the wrist because now everybody wants blood, and they should have prosecuted him. Sfroo got to go, guys. Thanks so much. Many people would swim a bit faster if they saw a gray fin in the water, but for this couple its no big deal. Why arent they scared . Well tell you. Magic as medicine. They want to make me disappear probably. No, not at all. Not at all. You had this lifechanging experience with the accident and you went through a lot of rehab. Now youre using your world class magic to help others. For me this is just the most important thing i get to do. Working with these kids has changed me as an artist, changed me as a person. I think you and i are both huge advocates of the arts, and sometimes we forget the power the arts have to impact the quality of peoples lives and if i can teachman magic tricks to children with learning disabilities, on the autism spectrum, and help them regain motor to skills can cognitive skills, social skills, thats worth more than a Million People applauding for you on the stage. Governor, he actually takes these magic tricks and teaches the kids, even stroke victims as well. Right. Now going to teach us a magic trick. So how are you magic skills . That will be magic. Paper clips and a dollar bill. Who doesnt get excited of the fact that money is involved in a magic trick no matter how old you are. This is one of the tricks we teach in the program. Take the bill, followed is just past George Washingtons face and the first paper christian is on top of the number one. And then fold it backwards and this tunnel that is formed, put the second paper clip inside the tunnel. So one paper clip on this side and one on the side and they dope touch. When you grab the two top corners of the bill and pull, the paperclips jump up in e the air and stick it to. Its million. Youre working on kids motor skills, they have to handle all the paper clips and then working on the processing, the sequencing of off ol those steps, and then once you learn the trick, you want to show it to somebody. Million doesnt work in a vacuum. For kids on the spectrum who dont have these natural occurring opportunities to engage in conversation, once you intrigue them with a magic trick, they learn the trick, now they want to show this to somebody, and then that helps them build social skills. Build selfesteem. I want to put on my Facebook Page and twitter how you can help out and help fund this amazing work. Thank you for being on the show. Thank you for having me.
