around the economy. the economy is objectively better than it was a year ago and two years ago yet, this poll blows him out of the water. >> laura: wow, did you ever think you would hear that from cnn. they can't even spin this anymore. now, at one point they even had a banner up that read bad news for biden. and it sure is. 67% of democrat leaning voters say they want a different candidate for 2024. we warned about this earlier this week that the democrat party leadership was tuning out what voters want in favor of what the donors want. and, remember, the establishment likes a figure head president who is not going to rock the boat. now, 82% of democrats now say that they just want someone else as their nominee and 62% say they are strenuously concerned about biden's ability to serve another full term as president if he is elected. >> joe biden is like that grandpa that you love, that you believe, in you owe a lot. but you start to wonder, you know, would you give this grandpa a high stress job for six more years? >> well, i think if you look at the numbers before an election year of every single presidential race, you will find they have no bearing whatsoever to that race. i remember 12 years ago being right here on fox news and they were telling me obama's numbers were in the tank. there was no way he was going to win re-election. he did. ronald reagan had terrible numbers in 1983. won solid re-election in 184. i don't think they mean anything now. >> laura: is that right, ned, the numbers don't mean anything? >> i have to agree with mark, which may be one of the rare times in life i actually agree with him. since 1996, democratic presidential candidates have gotten 48, 49% of the popular vote in the election year. i have to tell you, laura, there is nothing more undemocratic than a democratic primary. democratic voters are going to have to accept that joe biden is the nominee enforcement seriously, who is going to challenge him? it's not going to be newsroom. it's not going to be whitmer and go to the logistics of ballot access. if someone has the actual courage to step up to the plate and say all right i'm going to do what the democratic voters want. they still have to have ballot access to be in the primary. those deadlines are coming up. a lot of people in power who find the empty husk of biden very useful. they are also making the calculation that a billion dollars in superior ballot collecting efforts in 2024 are going to overcome the abysmal approval numbers. >> laura: i mean, mark, people could say well, republicans want someone else other than trump, but i don't think so, not looking at the poll, not looking at the polls. but, let's stay on the most recent poll numbers for your guy, joe biden, because they are not moving. on the economy, he hovers in the mid 30's, sometimes a little bit lower than that. that's the number one issue facing americans today. so it's pocketbook issues of groceries, gas, energy prices for your -- heating your house and so forth, clothes. so, again, those are the nuts and bolts issues. and is he just doing abysmally on all fronts. >> look at the objective numbers of the economy, right? you have the lowest -- you haven't seen a lower number since 1953. people have a job in america. it's been 70 years since we have had better employment. inflation is down to 3.2%. >> laura: survey that american workers, i think, are at their most unhappy state for, i don't know, was it two decades? just came out late today. i mean, workers aren't happy, ned, i think it's because their dollar is not going as far. they can't buy as much. this idea that everybody is working, well, everybody is miserable, it seems like. >> and their wages are going up, too. >> the point, you know, democratic primary, i think, is kind of a done deal, laura, i think biden will be the nominee. my only caveat being this. if the empty house collapses in the summer of 2024 and they realize it might be unten nabil they can't just can't take it to the finish line you might see a full revolt in august by acclimation the delegates and super delegates we have had enough get newsom and will michelle obama. one of the polls not too long ago donald trump was beating biden by 10%. democratic primary being one thing. you get into a general, and you start to realize it's the independents, it's the independent and the working class that i think are going to be obviously an important demographic coming into the fall elections in 2024. >> >> on that as well. it is the independents. i'm sorry, go ahead, laura. >> laura: the senate democrats have been asked by reporters, including fox news hillary vaughn about whether bidenomics and how bidenomics is working. watch. >> with the problems we have had in this economy today are the ones we have had for 30 years. >> gas prices have gone down, they have gone up. i anticipate they will go down again this fall. we will see what happens. >> whatever it is called, bidenomics, whatever, you have to look at the good that's happened mark lawyer, well, mark, the good that's happened, again, they act -- this is my problem if i'm a democrat and i'm wanting the democrats to win. not every problem is a messaging problem. but they treat it like a messaging problem. and that's not -- that's not been working. they have been trying to spin bidenomics one way or another for the last year and a half, two years? well, the woke media, of course, they don't have any questions about any of this. only congratulations. >> artemis lankford scored a major legal victory in when a judge dismissed a suit brought by six members of the capita kappa gamma sorority kick her out of the chapter over trans. the brave woman tell center joining me now. >> thank you for having me. i'm doing okay. this very unusual in my experience to be able to have this opportunity. >> laura: well, i would say it's pretty unusual in everyone's experience watching this. but, in this upside down world that we live in now, if you believe that men are men and women are women. if you believe that boys and girls should have separate locker rooms and separate sports teams, that men should be able to have fraternities and women sports, asororities, and if youe say any of that out loud you are the oppressor. >> you are thinking about this lawsuit and how members of your sorority didn't want you to be a part of it. what is that like for you? >> it's been a very difficult year, to say the least. being in a media cycle. even though i didn't necessarily want to be, given all this attention, just because of my identity. >> laura: wait, wait, wait. a trans person named artemis pledge ago sorority and getting in didn't want attention? that certainly doesn't match up with comments this person made last fall in the campus newspaper. saying i feel so glad to be in a sisterhood of awesome women that want to make history. they want to break the glass ceiling. trailblazing, you know, and i certainly feel that as their first trans member. hmmm. is this a celebrated trailblazer happy to be in the fight or a victim? langford wants it both ways. >> the shear terror of being in a lawsuit and not knowing what happens next, especially with threats online and harassment both physically and online has been very hard on myself and those that are in my chapter and campus in general. >> laura: no one should ever be threatening anyone, but if you feel like you are being punched watching this, it's because you are. langford's attorney insists that artemis is not a man. it's legally a female. now, we asked what legal steps her or his client has taken to secure a change in designation but have yet to hear back. again, it's beside the point. legal semantics aside, the angle's point here still stands. like i could identify as a a pen quinn and my friends could call me a penguin but it wouldn't make me a penguin some sorority big corporations. they become less concerned with serving their customers or their female members and more concerned with placating the left. check out kkg's guide for lgbtq awareness. respect for a person's identity and self-label and pronouns and recognize that there is not one acceptable way to transition huh? where's the part where a sister's religious liberty and conscious rights are respected or maybe even facts or basic human biology? i guess those are out the window. how sad that the once great democrat party is now tied up with all of this nonsense. the so-called champions of women are now standing with people like former collegiate swimmer lia thomas, born a physically powerful young man but now pretends to be a woman. thomas dominated in the pool to win the women's ncaa championship last year, total travesty. but no more so than rachel lavigne, the ultimate dei biden appointee that luminescent paragon of femininity recently traveled all the way to alaska and visited and praised an lgbtq health clinic famous for replacing the word mothers with the word egg producers. nice going, rach. the party of jfk has become the party of jfi just fake it. because it doesn't take courage to demand your trans rights on a college campus. that's easy. but it does take courage to stand up for basic truths, when all the well-funded, powerful forces are aligned against you. and that's the angle. all right. joining me now is patsy la evangelical a former capita capita gamma foundation president and member ever the independent women's network and paula scanlon stand with women's spokeswoman at the iwf and a former swimmer at the university of pennsylvania where she was a teammate of lia thomas. we recently received a statement from langford's attorney. they seem very lawyered up here for some reason which says the plaintiffs in this case chose to join a sorority that openly accepted transgender members after ms. langford was welcomed the plaintiff sued for half a million dollars. the court was direct to dismiss the plaintiff's claims at the outset and was correct to remark that the allegations regarding ms. langford were unsubstantiated and unbee fitting in federal court. well, paula, when you join the women's swim team at u. penn, did you know that it accepted transgender members because that's the argument that langford's attorney made with success on this sorority case. >> i had no idea and in fact i never thought that would be a reality. i'm sure the girls at the sorority also exend to be in a female only space when they joined the sorority. i don't think this is something any woman expects to have happen and female spaces, no matter how small, no matter how sacred are being invaded by people who identify as women. so what happens the point of even having them? what's the point of pledging a sorority if it's open to anyone? >> laura: patsy, you were in a leadership role at kkg which was one of the most renowned sororities. is it the oldest sorority in the united states? it's got to be one of the top two whether a's happened here as i look at artemis i feel sorry for him how is he being used as pawn in a chess game. he was basically pushed on this chapter and he absolutely needs -- needed attention but not the kind of attention that he would get in an all women's sorority they expected to be in an all woman all sisters only sorority. and then to be faced with having to deal with artemis i don't believe is he a victim. i feel sorry higher ups that usehood typically break this glass ceiling. in one way he is not a victim. he had choice. he could have said i have some issues. i need to have help with those issues. and any number of organizations would have stepped forward to help him instead we have that situation. yes, that case is being appealed. one of the things that really stuck out in the case to me was what the judge said is and this is kappa cap a pa gamma could define a woman the way they wanted to. and that's not right. >> laura: that's what is happening. because if someone says -- if someone born a female says no, now i'm a male, and you call that person a female maybe i think it's suspicious and. facts don't really matter. interesting. gallup released that study earlier this year. that poll that found that nearly 70% of americans believe transgender athletes should only be able to compete on sports teams that correspond with their actual sex. but, as usual, paula, this is -- this doesn't matter for people like in the biden administration who, you know, have their own views. watch this. >> do you think it's fair for girls to have to compete against biological males? >> it is a complicated issue. it is truly a complicated issue with a wide range of views. a wide range of views. there is no yes or no answer to this. it is complicated. we want to make sure that while we establish guardrails, that we also prevent discrimination as well against transgender kids. >> laura: all right. paula, she is seeing the poll numbers on this. this is a political nightmare for the democrats. that's why it's all so complicated. it either is or isn't. it's either -- this person is now allowed to change their, you know, biological sex or whatever they are calling it, and we're supposed to all, i guess, just celebrate and wave the flag or else. >> yeah. exactly. and it's so interesting to me because i think they are starting to realize that even democrats think that this is ridiculous. and they are trying to walk it back but still stay true to what they have always been saying. and it's a losing issue. nobody in america has common sense believes that men can magically become women on sports teams whether it be with n. a sorority or bathrooms. this is a losing issue the fact people can't see that allowing something 70% of more of people agree with become law and rule i can stop coming on the news and talking about this, i don't understand why they can't just do that. >> laura: i think as we saw, patsy, with this issue with kkg there are probably a lot of young women who don't like this but they are allowed to speak out it. takes enormous courage for someone like paula and riley gaines and a few others who have come out to speak but they get hammered in the woke world for what they do and what they say. >> yes, they do. it is scary to think that we have to fight this issue that has never been an issue. it's pure nonsense. i was reading in x in twitter sol has tweets out. she said i have always tried to be very logical. this is her quote. sex vs. gender debate but i have to admit that at the moment i am angry. i'm angry because i have to continue wasting my time saying men are not women and that the fact that they are taking this and running with it the way they are is nonsense. they can go right down to the biological cell and each cell, a woman's cell has x chromosomes in it and a man's cell has y chromosomes in it they can go right to the cell. >> laura: it's about a feeling. it's not fax, it's feelings now. that's what governs. patsy, paula, thank you. now it's time for our political pallet cleanser. ♪ palatecleanser. >> zoe, i have to type. i have to type. zoe, i have got to work my angle. okay. let me go back to work, ma'am. >> laura: doesn't want me to work, ever. the angle hijacker pictured in that little video is zoey. trust me, she loves my monologue but sometimes she doesn't appreciate the amount of work it takes to get them done. all right, up next, what the biden administration is doing to get even more aid to ukraine at the expense of americans. senator josh hawley reacts, next. ♪ >> laura: the ukraine hawk's broken wing while we don't always see eye to eye i consider my friend george will to be the last truly interesting columnist left of our generation. which is why i was surprised how wrong he has been in most recent column why conservatives should support ukraine. he writes that the temptation of the new right is to abandon ukraine partly this is petulance with a patina of principle, america first. president biden supports ukraine so we won't. but we aren't supposed to be funding ukraine because we don't like ukraine or because we don't want ukraine to be sovereign. that's not why we are opposed to or even because we don't like biden. we are opposed to funding ukraine because to use one of mr. will's favorite words it's not a prudent move for a country with 32 trillion in debt, an incompetent woke military leadership and existential threat in china. will is arguing that we should support ukraine as a matter of principle, but it's not a question of principle here. it's just silly to waste billions of dollars more on an effort that's weakening our own military position and hurting our economy. now, people like will used to teach that prudence was a conservative virtue. but ever since bush and cheney, a lot of them ask us to support policies that are suicidal open borders, free trade with china endless wars and do that as a matter of principle. well, it's silly. and it's sloppy thinking. conservatism isn't a suicide pact. and conservatives shouldn't support any policy that makes working class americans poorer and weaker. for 18 months now, can you believe it? we have been theying away billions of dollars on a war that cannot be won and that should be paid for by europe anyway. soon autumn will set on the summer offensive which doesn't seem to have worked out as planned. notice how we didn't even get regular updates about how our war chest something spent over there or even about the war's progress in general. we don't hear much about it. yet, secretary antony blinken is over there again for another surprise trip. so he was sort of forced into giving a briefing. >> the recent defensive the gains have been little villages. a little area here. you think we are starting to see more progress? >> it's step-by-step. i think we are seeing very tangible projects the last couple weeks on the front lines in the east and in the south. >> laura: what could help tangible project more than money? your money. blinken just gave them another billion dollars. and while our own citizens in maui and across the gulf coast struggle to recover from devastating wildfires and hurricanes, the white house is holding fema relief funding hostage in order to pass more aid to ukraine. >> is the administration willing to separate these requests and seek the fema disaster independently. >> we see them both as incredible important. i just laid out at the top what we saw happen in ukraine, 16 civilians died. this is part of our job, right? part of our duty to make sure that ukraine continues to fight. >> more quickly get that fema funding. why not being there. >> i hear your question. we are not going to get into hypotheticals from here about decoupling anything at this time. >> laura: joining me now missouri senator josh hawley, senator, the white house wants to put you in a box. if you want to send money to the people of maui, you also have to vote to send money to support the war in ukraine? so what's your move? >> my move is to say that the only nation building we ought to be doing, laura, is building this nation. and i can't believe that it's so hard for the white house when asked about are we going to first support our citizens who are in the midst of a natural disaster and have all these needs or first prioritize the citizens of some other country. they can't just say america? why is it so hard? why isn't the answer yes, of course, we are going to start with americans because this is the united states of america. they seem to forget who they're serving. who they have been elected to serve. listen, this is not hard. we should be prioritizing americans first. we should be rebuilding this nation we should not be engaged in this wild nation building endeavor overseas like ukraine, like afghanistan, like iraq, these people have learned nothing. >> laura: well, george will argues it's a matter of principle conservatives should be supporting ukraine that people like you or i who think we are spending way too much money that we are just doing that because biden is for it. and you say? >> i say i don't understand what the principle is that he is talking about. is the principle ne-yo conservatism where we are supposed to transform every country into the image of the united states and be the world's policemen? that seems to be what these people think. with the ne-yo conservatists think. i just take a different view. my view is that we are supposed to be defending the united states of america. my view is we are supposed to be putting american jobs and american workers and american prosperity first. that ought to be our number one goal, our number one priority that's just not how thee theo cons and globalists see things. they have been dead wrong about this for decades. they learned nothing from iraq and afghanistan. now they are doing it all over again in ukraine. >> laura: senator mitch mcconnell, who has been the subject himself of such controversy regarding his freezing moments and his health, he got his focus back yesterday on the senate floor. watch. >> president biden has not been as decisive as many of us would have preferred. our assistance is being used to good effect and now additional appropriations are critical for our defense industrial base and competition with china. certainly not the time to go wobbly. >> laura: so draining our own munition stockpile, is he talking about ukraine there, bankrupting ourselves, that's -- wait a second. we're going wobbly unless, again, you are all n ukraine regardless of the fact that it looks like this offensive did not go well and still is not measurablably showing success, at least blinken couldn't really cite success. is he was talking around the issue if you support funding for ukraine you are supporting china. i thought the argument are you going to send more billions of dollars to ukraine? >> well, you know, i suppose i'm supposed to now engage in trash talking because that's how this goes, right? this is the license of the age of rage. and rage is addictive and professor transcribe shows th tt addiction. there was a time when law professor could say disagree and really argue the merits. tribe is a signature for attacking people. i got off light. he uses vulgarity against, you know, conservatives that don't share his opinions. and frankly, i just think that that is a tragedy for our profession. but, on the merits here, what he is suggesting is not just wrong, it's dangerous russlly wrong. as i stay in a column in response to that attack tribe has often been wrong on these cases. courts rejected him over and over again. the california supreme court rejected one of the bills that he said was constitutional, unanimously. that was a california supreme court. now, does that mean that his views aren't worthy? no. of course they are worthy of consideration. but we don't have to do ad hominem attacks. my problem with the 14th amendment is what tribe and others are suggesting is that this is self-executing. you don't need a vote of congress. 50 states against biden, against trump. some could bar him there and some could bar him there why would have under the circumstancesser madness. this amendment refers to insurrection or rebellion it comes back to what january 6th really was. was it an insurrection? now, my point about his not being charged with it is only because we don't have a vote of congress and without that vote, you would think that there would at least be some objective basis. >> laura: who gets to determine it? >> say yes this was clearly a an insurrection. >> laura: that's the whole point here. that's why it's hackery to complain that it's hackery. your whole point, i think is who determines when it's an insurrection? unless you are charged with it. unless there is some finding of fact by a body that is objectively examining the issue, it's just one person's supposition or a panel on cnn or one judge somewhere. so, i don't find any of this persuasive. >> i don't either. look, i have given credit to people on the other side who have written -- really thoughtful pieces on why they believe this is true. i don't -- i don't agree with it. there is a previous opinion by chase saying that congress does have to vote. but, i can't get beyond the language of the amendment. that this is a rebellion and insurrection. the obvious point of reference is why the amendment was written, which was the civil war, which was a real rebellion. now, what they are suggesting is it could be much broader than that. but they give no limiting principle. and that's what makes it so dangerous. >> laura: they never do. by the way, moving this forward, jonathan, one of trump's lawyers is now suggesting that the attempt to have him removed from the ballots in 2024 is potentially tainting a jury pool. is that an argument? >> i'm sorry, can you repeat that we got cut out for a second. >> laura: yeah, just basically they are saying that the attempt to take him off the ballot, that argument, advancing that, is itself potentially tainting the jury pool. is that persuasive or a reach?
