former president trump and 18 of his allies, they recommended charging against two dozen other people including former georgia senators david purdue and kelly lefler and south carolina senator lindsey graham. they ultimately were not indicted. they were not charged with anything. not quite sure why we have this list to begin with given that. here's lindsey graham a short time ago. >> we're opening up pandora's box here. fulton is one of the most liberal jurisdictions in the country. i fear this will spread that the next election, democrats may be on the other side of this. >> former republican congressman doug collins led trump's recount effort in georgia back in 2020. he now hosts the collins podcast. doug, great to have you here. thanks for joining us today. let's started there. i mean, it feels like the antithesis of the american justice system. they say we're not going to charge number but we're going to release the names of those we could have charged. >> it's unfair. anybody listed on the list, say we, we could have but we didn't. i heard people say she still could -- may do that. let's remember clearly, a special grand jury indictment that had no indictment power to start with indicated this. they only heard one part of the story. when you say foni willis decide who to charge, she had to decide what would be an adversarial system in which you have a defense for the charges being named. she had to look at that and say i can't charge these. i don't have enough evidence or i don't want to especially because of the senators involved here. it's unfair. >> sandra: now we have a whole day talking about people that have not been charged with the implications they should have been. >> everyone is innocent until proven guilty in this country. so you lead the recount effort. are you surprised you weren't on the list? >> no, what we did -- any part is to ask for the recount. you have to formally ask for a recount in georgia. that's the part i played. you have to have a formal request. so again, that was the part that i played. again, miss willis did her investigations as well. again, it's unsettling. lindsey graham said that clearly, what they were looking at here. would this play forward in areas where democrats have challenged elections and done things like this where you had actoring in 2016 calling on electoring to change their vote not necessarily to vote from hillary clinton but to change them from donald trump. why wasn't there anything done about that? shows the politicization that this has had. >> martha: indeed. everybody has the right to question what happened. what strikes me is ultimately the secretary state, brad raffensperger, said, you know, we've looked into this. we don't see anything. that's the way the process works. you can challenge it. you can even be intimidating in your effort to challenge, i would imagine. the ultimate end of it was that the process worked. in fact, you said during the process, we're confident we'll find evidence of improperly harvested ballots and other irregularities that will prove president trump won georgia fairly. but do you still believe that that is true? >> i think what we found out when i said that in that context, we were asking for a recount. i have to remind people, after we asked for the recount, there was million 12,000 and 14,000 votes that were never counted. never counted. they came out during the recount. so a lot has been done on this thing, this whole issue. the issue is what is the d.a. going to do about this case and having this report released today brings back some issues, as you started off the show with saying is this a fair thing. when we ask -- you don't know until you ask the question. the questions were asked and now we move forward. >> martha: ultimately biden won by just less than 12,000 votes in georgia. if trump and biden face each other again in georgia, what do you think the outcome would be in 2024? >> i think it's a different story. look, i think from all the things we saw before, you don't have the ballots that were being sent out to everybody. i think trump is ahead. he's been showing ahead in polls down here. i think donald trump would win georgia. >> martha: doug collins, former congressman. good to see you. thank you. >> take care. >> martha: also today, let's listen to this reaction from the women of "the view" to the migrant crisis infolding here on the streets of new york city. mayor adams says he believes this influx could destroy this city. watch. >> frankly, you know, i think we need -- we've dealt with this before. i lived in miami. i was a migrant, an immigrant in miami in the 80s. you'll remember when we had the boat lift. 125,000 cubans came in a matter of six months. it puts tremendous stress on our city, on our community, on the social services. they need to be resettled elsewhere. >> yeah, with this massive country. >> it's only going to get worse with global warming and climate change. people can't live in certain parts of this world. >> they need to go somewhere else, they say. let's bring in joe concha, columnist. joe, the ladies of "the view" agree it's just too much, just too much in new york city. they can't handle it. so they have to go somewhere else. they need to spread out around the country. >> it's stunning how horrible this news program and ridiculous this news program has become. that sound that you just heard was barbara walters turning over in her grave. she created something that sounds different from this show. the cast you can't even distinguish themselves. there's no thought process. so they believe that new york city should remain a sanctuary city. they believe that the millions that have entered in country should not only stay here, but they should be fed, they should be housed in four star hotels, educated and get healthcare. all of this cannot happen in the city that they live in, so make it somebody else's problem and spread them out throughout the country. the only way this gets solved is very simple, martha. at the source. at the u.s. southern border where you have millions coming in to this country. we don't know who they are, hundreds on the terror watch list. what we're seeing instead is an administration -- what did karine jean-pierre say this week?
