thank you, anderson. good evening, everyone. thank you for joining me. this is war. and that may actually be the nicest thing that donald trump has said in the last 24 hours about his former friend and now foe, ron desantis. both of the men crisscrossing the early voting states today. desantis has been on a blitz in new hampshire, and trump was in iowa. but here is a taste of the back and forth that has really escalated over the last 24 hours on everything from the debt ceiling to ron, as i call him, ron desanctimonious for a reason. i think it s so petty. i think it s so juvenile. i don t think that s what voters want. and honestly i think his conduct, which he s been doing for years now, i think that s one of the reasons he s not in the white house now. when he says eight years, every time i hear it, i wince. i think it s a project that will begin on day one, and it will require a daily grind for not just one term but i think for two full presidential terms. but
this legal pressure that is engulfing donald trump to a degree he s clearly aware of. his former white house lawyer made waves and concerned people by ricking trump will go to jail over white house documents. now we have this short but unusual letter from donald trump s lawyers, signed by them, publicized by donald trump that reads like a cry for help or some sort of freakout. i can tell you straight up it s not a normal legal proceeding. it s addressed to attorney general merrick garland. the wall street journal made waves that the quays may be nearing the intend although no one can say what happened, it clearly had bad news in there at a minimum for trump with insiders bracing for a possible indictment. again, that s not news you can go to the bank with, but it s wall street journal, which is own by the murdoch empire, and that may among other things may have led trump to write this letter. it basically tries to shake down the attorney general of the united states, whic
reportedly involved federal agents spending most of the day at mar-a-lago was related to classified information that trump took with him when he departed the white house in january of 2021. an attorney for the former guy told nbc news that trump and his team had been, quote, cooperative with fbi and doj officials every step of the way, unquote, but then added that the bureau, quote, did conduct an unannounced raid and seized paper. the new york times reports that it wasn t the first time that agents visited trump s south florida estate. quote, the search came after an earlier visit this spring to mar-a-lago by federal agents including a justice department counterintelligence official to discuss materials that mr. trump had improperly taken with him when he left the white house. mr. trump was briefly present for that earlier visit as was at least one of his lawyers according to people familiar with the situation. both the fbi and the justice department have declined to comme
