Outside there are literally thousands of young people here waiting to get in to hear that historic speech. You know, cpac draws a lot of young people. Very important. And you mention that reagan speech. Now, the famous line from that is you dance with the one that brung you. Well, we will see what President Trump has to say about all that. But, last night, Vice President mike pence firing up the crowd, talking about the team he has assembled. Take a listen. Folks, this is the ateam. President trump has assembled the strongest, conservative cabinet in my lifetime bar none. With this team we as conservatives have an opportunity that only comes around every few generations. Reporter folk also tell you here what happened last night was symbolic speech with Vice President pence. It brought together factions of the Republican Party and the establishment. We will see what the president has to say. Vice president pence had more to talk about the people last night. This is not a government of the elites, by the media or for the establishment, what november 8th showed, even if they didnt listen is that this is still government of the people, by the people, and for the people. He will head back to the white house and sign an executive order on Regulatory Reform for federal agencies. We dont have a lot of details. The third line of work is deacon destruction of the Administrative State. Steve that is really interesting. Pete all three of those, straightforward. Economic, national and deacon destruction of the Administrative State which, of course, the failing New York Times is going insane about today. Its this idea is what are they going to do pick apart, destroy, undermine the federal government . No there has been a sense forever there is a Fourth Branch of government. A permanent bureaucracy that works against the people and freedom. They are saying, hey, lets let the government work and strip a lot of that stuff away. Its a very important strong point. Abby that was probably my favorite part of yesterday seeing those two on stage together. One you realize they do like each other. One point Reince Priebus making fun of bannon wearing seven collars. For a while he has been this mystery man. What is his role . Why is he so close to President Trump . And in this moment yesterday, you can understand that i mean, you could tell that he is really the brains, the policy behind it at one point he turned to the audience in very much a Donald Trump Style and he said we need your back. Have our back. And also make sure you hold us accountable. Make sure we follow through with our promises. And Charles Krauthammer spoke last night about steve bannon why he is the brains of the operation. Here is what he said. I think they are trying to bat down these stories in the press, in the opposition, the Mainstream Media that there is this terrible conflict going on all the time. So i think they felt that was the first order of business. I think its somewhat trivial because it was a very substantive exchange. And from bannon, who we have not heard from since the swearing in it was extremely revealing. This is the brains of the operation. This is the guy who thinks strategically in large categories. The fact that everyone was in that same room and bannon spoke to it this is a coalition of people who maybe have a few shades of differences but believe in america and put america first. He spoke to that a couple years ago there were alternate events and different campers and people disinvited. Abby he was also really, really tough on the media he was asked do you think the coverage is going to get better . He said actually no, i think it will probably get worse. So vets like me can go to our local doctors and hospitals . Glad to hear from thomas and thomas thank you for your service. We do need to do better. And asking people to drive 140 miles to get simple tests isnt a system thats designed to meet the veterans needs. So, yes, thomas, we are looking at different ways to expand the types of options and choice to be able to use care in the community. We think thats really important. And were looking at different ways of delivering care, particularly for younger people who say i may not want to go different places. I may want to get the care right where i am on my phone, on my computer. Pete scott asked this question i served my country as u. S. Navy radio man, submariner on the uss alaska my question is simple why is it if you make more than 30,000 a year or certain threshold of income you are not eligible for medical benefits . There is a category that our veterans that were not serviceconnected and make more money than minimum threshold that we do serve. But we use our resources as wisely as we can to try to serve in that order. And somebody like scott may be falling out of that. And so what were trying to do is design an efficient system so were able to spread the resources that we have to as many veterans as possible. Pete interesting. Okay. Shannon asked this question. Pete too often it takes a congressman or a news story or somebody really fighting back aas opposed to being a customer and wanting to be served. We want a system where everybody feels like they are being served. Its a very, very big system. In those cases where people arent feeling like they are being served, im very glad they have advocates. They are often family members, friends, givers. Pete we hear that in that stack of paper. Final question from a viewer is more than 40 of americans live and work in small and rural areas. Travel so far from friends and work that these vets forego need care. Why allow access credential local providers near the vernsz where they live and work. Lets go back to the crisis that happened in april of 2014, the wait time crisis. Congress stepped up with a plan called the choice program. They designed it very well intentioned plan saying you either need to live 40 miles away from a v. A. Or have a wait time of 30 days. And what i have been said to congress and i have been very clear if i were designing a system it wouldnt be based on 340 miles, 30 days. We need to design a system in a better way. Thats what were committed to doing. Changing the system more supportive to veterans. Abby a lot of family members. Not just our military but people who love them so much. Pete i handed him the stack i said these arent mine but are yours. They are going to be to have to be. Steve he is agent at the top. What about under him people who who do the work. Pete hundreds who report to him some which can he bring in some which are permanent employees. Thats the first layer of the swamp have you to deal with to get to the place where you are really managing the process and changing the way the vets interact whether they have real choice in the sector and people are held accountable at the end of the day. And is it a big change that this administration buckets sovereignty in defense of our borders and who comes and who doesnt into our country and lumps it into National Security and thats certainly a critique of the eight years of the Obama Administration where they felt like it was more of an open border policy. Did you decouple those two as opposed to the way that trump looks at them right now. Well, dhs obviously has the lead along with the Border Patrol for immigration. So immigration someone of those issues that really straddles domestic and Foreign Policy. If you look at what secretary tillerson was talking about in mexico this week, a part of this that was this new immigration policy. It didnt it wasnt as much as a Foreign Policy issue for the Obama Administration as it was a Law Enforcement issue. As a lot of republicans have pointed tout me in the last few days president obama actually deported quite a large number of people as well. Steve 2. 5 million. As you know he was referred to as the deporter in chief. When you see headlines about donald Trump Mass Deportation is going to start tomorrow, which, in fact, tillerson yesterday said there would be no mass deportation. But, it does seem like the Mainstream Media has kind of ginned this up. There is an atmosphere of fear where people out in los angeles people are afraid there is going to be a knock at the door and somebody is going to say youre going home. Not just the media creating the fear. I was reading through the new guidance from dhs implementation on immigration orders. The challenge now the Trump Administration in trying to prioritize everyone thats here illegally, what really happens is you prioritize no one. Its putting people that have committed manslaughter. Pete still echeloning criminals. Steve bad elm brays are going first. Pete before top of the list. Now they are saying if you arism legal, you are illegal. If you committed manslaughter we should put more federal resources into deporting you than if you committed a traffic crime and i dont think that we should be putting a lot of federal resources into taking mothers away from children. So there is some fear, i think, because this new executive order has pretty drastically expanded who a priority is for deportation and just resource wise. Everyone cant be a priority because no one is. Abby where were these protests and anger all those years that president obama was deporting. We have the numbers here over 3 million people. And we have been talking about criminals of course, part of that 3 million had to be im sure mothers, some illegals that did have incredibly heart breaking stories that had to leave their families. Steve we didnt hear those stories. Why is that . As someone who served in the administration i can assure you we did hear a lot of criticism from advocates in the community who work on these issues. So, we did hear some of that. But i think one of the reasons you hear a lot more concern now is the rhetoric thats being used. Secretary tillerson and kelly are saying a lot of the right things, the problem is when President Trump then refers to this as a military operation, that does sound scary and concerning to a lot of people. Certainly does to me. Steve i have think he was clarified later by sean spicer using that as an adjective. Remember, he went to a military school. He was talking about with military precision. He should say that right. Steve listen, how many times during the Obama Administration did somebody have to go out and clarify things. Were not bringing that up. Did you mention Rex Tillerson in mexico. We did see images of protests outside the embassy there as it turns out, even though you might in watching television think wow, look, the mexican people are really steamed, turns out, that was a group, democrats abroad, organized by the Democratic Party here in the United States. I saw some of those reports. And i have no idea how true those are, how many people were actually organized by democrats abroad. But i think the bigger point, rather than those protests is the fact that i have heard from a lot of people still in the administration that themexiy concerned about whats going on. And thats a relationship that needs to be a strong one. I think tillerson and kelly went down there and pretty much a clean up operation for some of what President Trump has said. So its hard for some of these countries who respond to something President Trump tweets. Then they hear from a cabinet secretary who maybe has a more reassures message and its not really clear who they should believe or who is actually speaking for the president. Abby yi. The Trump Administration says expect the Justice Department to crack down on states that allow recreational marijuana. From the obama stance since they said that the federal government would not interfere in states where its legal. Voters in eight states and d. C. And its a much needed revolution because this country needs big change. And what you are seeing from the media in a way is a counter revolution. The difference is its not democratic. No one voted for them but they did vote for donald trump and they voted for the change that he and his team are bringing. Pete Brexit Movement a precursor to what donald trump did. Last night my message was with President Trump and his signing of the executive order that law and order is back in the west. The west of course being the United States and i talked about the sanctuary cities and how they are now enclaves for criminal aliens. And this group in particular, that you can hear behind me who are so excited, this group was very fired up. And they understand now that there is a new sheriff in town. That this president will take the safety and security of the American People seriously. And what that means is deporting people who came here illegally but committed crimes after they were here. Abby you delivered it only the way you can, judge. Lets take a look at this. Cities and states across this great nation, progressive mayors, are prioritizing the protection of illegal criminals who not only violated our law to come here, but in addition, committed additional crimes while they were here. If you believe in america, and conservative values and everything in our constitution, it is time for you to demand an end to the criminal enclaves that are known as sanctuary cities. My question are you planning on fix the va so vets like me can go to local civilian hospitals . Yeah, glad to hear from thomas. Thomas, thank you for your service. We do need to do better and asking people to drive 140 miles to get simple tests isnt a civil that is designed to meet the veterans needs. Yes, thomas, we are looking at different ways to expand the types of options and choice to be able to use care in the community. We think that is really important. Were looking at delivering care, particularly for younger people, who say i may not want to go different places. I may want to get care right where i am on the show and computer. Pete scott asked this question. I served my country as u. S. Navy radio man, submariner on uss alaska. My question is simple. Why is it if you make more than 30,000 a year, or certain threshold of income, youre not eligible for medical benefits . There is a category that our veterans that are not Service Connected and make more money than a minimum threshold that we do serve. We use our resources wisely as we can to try to serve in that order. Somebody like scott may be falling outside of that so what were trying to do is design an efficient system so we can spread the resources we have to as many veterans as possible. Pete sure. Final question from a viewer, more than 40 of the veterans live and work in small and rural areas, travel to va clinics often so far from family and work these vets forego needed care. Why not allow access to Va Health Care records and credential local providetores provide care to veterans near and where they live and work . Lets go back to the crisis that happened in april 2014 and the wait Time Congress and congress stepped up with a plan called the choice program. They designed it a very wellintentioned plan, you needed to live either 40 miles away from a va or have a wait time of 30 days. What i have said to congress, and i have been very clear is, if i were designing a system it wouldnt be based upon 40 miles or 30 days. Pete sure. So our job is now to come back and say we think we can design the system better that is going to meet the needs of veterans in a better way and that is what were committed to doing, change the system to be more responsive to veterans. Steve lets hope that happens. Pete if they can do that maersk it work for the vet as opposed to against the vet that would be transformational.
