You had a member of the bush dynasty. And yet, this firsttime candidate is essentially the de facto republican nominee. I know i know, john kasich is still in it. He said hes in it to win it, but last night it was very clear, heres donald trump from a few blocks from where were sitting right now, victory speech at trump tower. Its been an unbelievable day and evening and year and never have been through anything like this. But its a beautiful thing to watch and a beautiful thing to behold. Ted cruz, i dont know if he likes me or if he doesnt like me. But hes one hell of a competitor. He is a tough, smart guy. What ted did is really a very brave thing to do. And a great thing to do. Because we want to bring unity
to the Republican Party. We have to bring unity. Its so much easier if we have it. This country which is very, very divided in so many different ways is going to become one beautiful, loving country and were going to love each other. Were going to cherish each other. From the beginning, i have said that i would continue on as long as there was a viable path to victory. Tonight, im sorry to say no it appears that path has been foreclosed. And so with a heavy heart, but with boundless optimism for the long term future of our nation we are suspending our campaign. But hear me now. I am not suspending our fight for liberty. There you go. And one of the thing he does do in stepping out right now is he does preserve his status as a top tier candidate for 2020. Well, maybe so. Hes still a senator. Right. Carly fiorina she can say she was the Vice President ial nominee or the Vice President ial candidate for seven days. Exactly. So a tough cycle for her. Its been listen, its been bruising on all parts. She can put it on her resume one day. Absolutely. Meanwhile, donald trump, while he had kind things to say about ted cruz, you know what . Hes already pivoting. Hes doing a 180 and there on the democratic side is Hillary Clinton. And its bombs away. Hes going after her. Watch. Were going after Hillary Clinton. She will not be a great president. She will not be a good president. She will be a poor president. She doesnt understand trade. Her husband signed perhaps in the history of the world the single worst trade deal ever done. Its called nafta. And i have witnessed what its done really firsthand and it has been indeed carnage. You know when i was in indiana, the number one thing people were talking about because indiana is a manufacturing state. Right. Its been battered by whats going on with the world economy, exactly, Companies Moving out. Of course trump famously talked a lot about the carrier situation out there where theyre going to move all those jobs to mexico. That really was the most potent thing. Jobs, manufacturing. Right. Because indiana, they still make stuff. Thats why hillary made the comments about the coal miners and she went to West Virginia and the coal miners are saying you want to get rid of my jobs. What about my and my family . You have to be an accountant inside it, but if you talk to the people at ford and carrier, they say if we want to make our product competitive with the rest of the world we have to build them outside because of the regulations and the unions and the taxes in some cases. So look at the whole picture. I wouldnt necessarily be so quick to vilify the carriers and the fords and these companies for leaving and the pharmaceutical Companies Going to ireland. Why are they going . Are they going because theyre greedy or going because to keep themselves viable to keep their shareholders earnings . I think its more complicated than that. Meanwhile, people there might be a situation where manufacturing has to leave in certain situations. But then we have a choice. Do you want to buy something thats cheap or something made in america . A lot of the people that work in these factories, they used to be democrats. Now many of them are saying, im voting for donald trump because of this. Thats what Newt Gingrich is saying. Listen. Donald trump may turn out to be the most effective antileft leader in our lifetime. Hes against political correctness. He is against bureaucracy. He places american nationalism first which i think we desperately need. So i think trump in that sense may be a return to more of an eisenhower kind of realism that nonetheless is very conservative. He may do more to dismantle the left than anybody in our lifetime. The other side of course is if youre not for donald trump you functionally are for Hillary Clinton. Yeah, because hes going to be very hard to strategize against. You want to categoryize him as a what hawk, well, he didnt want to do iraq, Hillary Clinton did. You want to say that he wants to be too aggressive in the middle east, well, hes talking about having everybody else join in. You want to talk about alliances and going with nato first and other countries first . Hes like for, i want them to pay their open way and the trade
deals usually george bush 41 was the first one to it put it out and clinton put nafta into play. Republicans are say i dont like the trade deals. Its the first time in a long time. I think also, i thought it was important, i think that peter king typified a lot of republicans. If he wants to bring in the whole party, he needs to come out, either walk it back or fully define what he meant by that. I understand that secretary clinton thinks that this campaign is over. Ive got some bad news for her. Tonight, we won a great victory in indiana. I believe he can win in the fall. Well, i think that the fact that ted cruz got out of the race last night is the beginning of healing. Secondly, i believe that donald trump extended an olive branch to ted cruz last night in his victory speech. So i believe that the healing has already started and ted cruz can have a lot to do with that. Other people within the party,
they need a few days to get over this, to get used to it. And start to realize that the real objective now is to beat Hillary Clinton. I believe that trump could pull the Party Together. Let me ask you this. While ted cruz has suspended his campaign operations, john kasich is still in it. That do you make of that . My take on john kasich still being in the campaign is that hes being ill advised, okay . Hes needs to become a period in this race now. It may just take a little while before first of all he starts burning some of his own cash because hes been ill advised to stay in it to the end. Thats just going to cost him a lot of personal money. I know that from experience. Okay. So we know that you feel that donald trump can beat Hillary Clinton. Yes. He was able to win in indiana yesterday, based on the economy
and jobs and trade and things like that. What is the number one thing Hillary Clinton is vulnerable on Going Forward toward november . Integrity, trustworthiness. I mean, once that message is hammered home to a lot of people, shes going to lose a lot of democrat voters, historically democrat voters. So her lack of integrity, her lack of honesty and for example you all played the example earlier in the show about what she said in West Virginia in march about putting coal miners and coal workers out of business. And then shes now trying to walk it back. So i think that there are so many examples like that that its going to be easy to put together a campaign that will cause not all democrat voters to wake up and see the light, but its going to cause a lot of them to wake up and see the light. A lot of kids are going to be getting into trouble this summer. Were joined today by dr. Joshua
coogler who is the head of the emergency room here at south nassau. He is formerly a physician for special ops. Hes well trained in this. Welcome to the show. Dr. Coogler, how do you know if a kid is in trouble at your pool . First, thanks for having me. Great to be here. As you said we are surrounded by water and its summertime thats upon us. The most important thing is prevention. Swimming and safety is the most important thing. How do you know someone is in trouble . You look at their eyes. A child is in trouble at the pool is going to look to get out of the pool, but they cannot get out of the pool or may be going under the water. Look at their eyes, they raise their hand, thats the time to intervene. If you think somebody is drowning you want to take them to the emergency room, what do you do to stabilize them and what do you do in the ambulance . Very good question. Its different if youre outside the emergency room. Make sure the scene is safe. Make sure anyone who is a potential rescuer needs to be safe. If its rough water situation, be prepare to bring that patient
out. Identify the fact theyre having a difficult time breathing and open the airway. Simply open the patients airway by lifting the jaw upwards. That should help them spontaneously breathe. Youre in the ambulance. What do you in the ambulance . If their dying or look like theyre going to stop breathing. We have other tools in the ambulance to help patients. Here in nassau county, we have a show me how this works. This really works by pushing air into the patient with positive pressure. Again, opening the airway up and preventing the person from suffocating from the fluid on their lungs. This will displace that fluid around the air sac and allow them to oxygenate. I know that more than half of the people that come to the e. R. With drowning dont make it or with serious complications. What do you go to stabilize them and give them the pisbest chanc . Well, we will continue to use the cpac and change it into
bipac, bilateral positive airway pressure. And if the respiratory rate goes down and they have a difficult time breathing we can breathe for the patient to get them show me how that works. Right here we have a fiber optic intubation assisted tool. And basically, we would take this and place it into the patients airway and looking at the camera and you can see right there, that is the patients airway. We would place the tube right in to the airway at that point and breathe or the them. You have carash carts around here if a patient stops breathing, you have it color coded for kids. And you really can see that if someone has a problem from a heart point of view, you can intervene right away and save a life. Brian, back to you. You have a question for us . Yeah, i do. Real quick, i guess if you have one of the parties, you have to get a lifeguard especially with kids around. Number two, do you have an idea of how much time you have before someone is under water as dn dndz and getting them out of
the water before they could be suffering brain damage or will pass away . Great questions. You need a lifeguard at a pool hes pointing out. How much time do you have, brian wants to know, when someone is submerged to get them to help . Theres a dry and a wet drowning. Sometimes water doesnt enter the lungs but both of them end up resulting in the same thing. Which is the body can then have a reflex where it will build up fluid in the lungs and the patient will have a difficult time breathing. The thing i can tell you is the most important thing is to make sure you go to a hospital or an emergency room to be seen. These are not things that you want to sit on at home. I wanted to see what he was going to say because of these rumors going around. You know, if he were, i obviously would have made a bunch of different speeches than if he were in. Were you shocked he dropped out . Yeah, i was surprised. I know ted, but he did the right thing for himself and for the family and for the party. I think he did a great thing. You know, now well unify the party. Were going to get people together. I dont necessarily want everybody if you want to know the truth, i think im different as a candidate than most. But you know when things are said by certain people its unnecessary it wouldnt make
any difference. I think well beat Hillary Clinton. Shes horrible on the economy, horrible on jobs. She is really horrible on the military. Well, she cant focus on you because Bernie Sanders won last night and is about to win West Virginia and so hes not going away if you listen to him. I know you have your other challenges straight ahead, for example, setting up a nationwide fundraising apparatus because you did loan your money loan money to your campaign. Yeah. To get the nomination. But is it true, donald trump, that you will look to raise funds for the general . I think its most likely that i will because, you know, youre talking about a billion dollars or a billion and a half dollars. Well, youve got it. I do have it. Well, all i have to do is sell a building. But i think that probably im looking im not looking for myself, im looking for the party. Where the party, you know, is going to receive a lot of money. So the party can compete. Including its senate races, including its congressional races. And, you know, i think thats a very big part of it. Thats a big part of what i want to do. I want to raise a lot of money for the party itself. Youre hiring and how what are you looking for . Looking for in what . What are you looking you said youre hiring people. In terms of staffing, what type of people are you looking for . Oh, yeah, well have great we already have a great staff. I mean, i have a great group of people. I have a terrific staff and now obviously we have to build it up, because well be going all over the country. Well be working in areas that would have been different. Some of the areas that we were going, im going to West Virginia, im going and were going to put the miners back to work by the way. The coal miners and the miners of West Virginia and pennsylvania and ohio and all of these places where its just been they have been devastated as an industry, theyre going to be put back to work, and theyre going to love
their jobs again. You know, they have tremendous spirit, the miners. I have seen it over the years, they have unbelievable spirit and theyll be happy with donald trump. So you want to focus on clean coal rather than no coal . I want clean coal. Well have clean coal and plenty of it. We send coal well, first of all t coal industry is being decimated and many great people are out of work and they cant get back into work. Hillary clinton as you know, she says she wants to put the coal miners out of business never to work again. I dont know how she can go to West Virginia. I mean that must have been uncomfortable. She said well put them back to work. She said that in march that she was going to put the whole coal industry out of business. Well, then she goes to West Virginia and she sits down with the group of individuals and one of the guys there said i was a coal miner, i lost my job. How can you tell how can you say youre for the American People when youre taking jobs away and you want to shut down my industry . I think we have a sound bite of that. Do we have a sound bite . Lets listen to this and get your reaction. When you make comments like were going to put a lot of coal miners out of jobs, these are
the kind of people that youre affecting. This is my family. I dont know how to explain it other than what i said was totally out of context from what i meant because i have been talking about helping coal country for a very long time. It was a misstatement because what i was saying is that the way things are going now, we will continue to lose jobs. Yeah, now thats shes in West Virginia she was misstating things earlier. That wasnt misstatement. Its all political talk. I thought i knew a lot about politici politicians, i have never seen anything the way three keep talking and Hillary Clinton made a statement. It was a horrible statement. I watched it live actually. I said, wow. That is a horrible statement for the coal industry and for the miners. More importantly. And let me just tell you, we are going to put the miners back to work. And in china, they take our coal and they burn the coal. They dont clean the coal, by the way. Well have great, clean coal. Well have an amazing mining business. Around you know, i have know and you know i have noticed over the years, i have known many miners over the years. They have tremendous spirit. The spirit they have, they love their industry. They love getting into the mines. I dont know if id love to do it. I dont think you guys would like it, but they love it. A lot of republican politicians, senators and congressmen and governors are going, well if donald trump is at the top of the ticket, were all dead. Whats your message to them . Well, you know, we just got the rasmussen poll come out yesterday and it shows that im leading Hillary Clinton 41 to 39, and i think im going to do very well. Ill just have to remember the people that frankly are, you know, they dont have that whatever it is. You know, honestly i think well win. I think shes horrible on the economy. Shes horrible on jobs. She is terrible on the military. Right. I think were going to win. I think were going to beat hillary. Remember what she said about the vets. We had donald trump on this morning talking about his victory last night. We asked him whether or not he was surprised that ted cruz dropped out. His answer . It was a tough race. They were proud of him for saying that and they were proud of cruz for dropping out of the race, knowing Going Forward there was no chance for him to be the nominee in order to unify the party. wall. All sorts of things really resonated. Next thing you know, it looks like hes it. You have done your research on this group, never trump, they spent a lot of money. Well, it wasnt just never trump. All the antitrump groups combined, they have estimated spent 75 million in the form of 64,000 tv commercials and those are only on the local affiliates. Were not talking about the amount of money they spent on cable. And the money they spent on satellite. So its probably really close to 100 million where the antitrump people tried to stop them. Whos behind this group . All sorts of people. A lot of rubio people. A lot of jeb people. Hillary clinton put in 5 million. Ted cruz put in just a little north of 4 million to try to stop trump. But ultimately, the trump train prevailed. By the way if you want to stop hillary, Bernie Sanders did it, at least for now. He did sensationally well and he did it by outperforming Hillary Clinton. She had a five point lead and within the margin of esch report. With 94 reporting Bernie Sanders with 52 to 47 win over Hillary Clinton. And shes also leading in West Virginia. And West Virginia is all about coal. Senator joe manchin is trying to get president obama on the phone. Unable to do it. Hillary clinton talks about shes going to be doing the same thing. Remember in march she says im going to destroy the coal industry, im going to get rid of it. Well, she goes to West Virginia oops. She is face to face with this guy who is a coal miner. Hes lost his job. Watch this, he hands her a picture of his family. He said this is the family youre putting out of work. This is running all the time now. She wasnt even in indiana. She was in West Virginia. Right. And in kentucky because thats the next big goal. And why did she want to be seen as by that family . I think its a terrible moment for her. Like ted cruz walking over to the trump supporter, but maybe it was her chance to say i wasnt thinking about your family and now im going to change my mind. Be people everyone says shes dishonest. No one tryusts her. I would bet you dollars to doughnuts, neither her campaign knew hed pull that family out. Its not good for her in West Virginia, especially since Bernie Sanders is on a roll. Donald trump when he was with us about a half an hour had these comments about hillary and coal. All right, you brought us to Something Else now. The first topic is . The first topic is whats the most important issue to voters in indiana . Well, it was the economy this time. Because San Bernardino seems like a long time ago. Used to be terrorism. It was. So 40 said the economy and jobs and donald trump does very, very well here. Then 28 said Government Spending and also trump does very, very well with that. 18 said terrorism and we saw a lot of ted cruzs advertising was going after terrorism. 11 said immigration. It makes sense for indiana not a number one issue. You asked on the exit poller, do me a favor, are you worried about the direction of the economy . Now, this is fascinating to me. 67 said theyre very worried. 25 said theyre somewhat worried. Only 6 said theyre the not worried. And not worried at all is 1 . Only 7 of the republicans arent concerned about the economy. That means most people are. So democrats are going to have is a really hard time convincing people that says the last eight years have been good. Thats the message theyring to put out there. Thats tough for them in the general. And imagine if the economy gets worse. That horrible start in First Quarter is emulated in the
second and Third Quarter it will be tougher for Hillary Clinton. Americans who are born again this is son the republican side. The born agains and the evangelicals voted for donald trump, 50 went for donald trump. 43 went for cruz and 5 for kasich. 50 for trump. We have seen over the last few states that the evangelicals are going for trump and saying, you know what, i almost dont care that he doesnt, you know he doesnt necessarily represent the born again i know. But we want somebody thats totally different and just like the rest of the party is saying that. Right. You know that donald trump does love the bible. And its his top book, the second one is art of the deal. Next, you asked this question. The Republican Campaign was mostly good or bad . You said heres one, 56 said divided the party, 40 said energized the Republican Party. Donald trump shows there hes got some work to do. He does. But what i have heard from folks is that this isnt necessarily a bad thing because 59 of voters are looking for the outsider. People said we need to divide the party and now its time to come back together. The democrats asked the same thing. 73 said that the party is energized right now. 27 said that the party is divided or 23 said that the party is divided. Thats increasing as time goes on.
