There are reports that he could have been in a permanent co ma as a result of the shooting, but now the Police Department is changing their tune of this. Hell be charged with firstdegree murder and its likely hell be obviously convicted in this situation. If people saw this, theres a lot of evidence here. And so i dont think its so much the concern about is he going to be convicted or not. The question is, how do we define this . And the idea of a lone wolf terrorist, it means that it is someone who may be inspired by. This shows the heart of the reason why the Islamic State is putting out these videos of beheadings. It is not just to scare us. It is to inspire people like this. People who, yes, they may have anger and may have a reason, they may get fired from work, but then they carried out in a more horrific way and a way to link only to one group and only one specific group. And thats this new jihadi terrorist were facing. So it sounds like in cities across the country, certainly in detroit, all the money went to paying for full health and dental for former employees instead of to infrastructure that the rest of us use every day. It is just remarkable. We somehow have gotten billions of dollars to be able to spend for future generations to take and look after the socalled green energy to take care of the globe. How about if we made it safe on monday for people to drive to work . So how unsafe is it . If you look across the country, more than 10 of the bridges are rated to be structurally deficient. If you look at pennsylvania, its 23 . If you look at rhode island, its 22 . And we just have a very september 12th mindset when it comes to main tainting our infrastructure. I am talking anything for hate and violence. Anything that should not be considered religion. Or what you say is that should not be allowed in prison or anywhere where we could be radicalizing people in the name of god and whatever. Alton nolen, has spent two years in prison radicalized getting in or out of prison, turning to the web and getting all sorts of information about islamic extremism. But 80 of inmates seeking faith turned to islam. What do you make of that . I think it is very simple. When you have somebody going through a tough time in their life seeking for purpose or seeking for a mission in their life. Now, you can go to the good sides or the bad side. Im not saying christianity versus islam. But im saying peace, love, goodness and selflessness versus anything that tells you to go with hate and to kill radical islam. It is very similar to the whole culture of gangs. Should anything radical be allowed in prison . Absolutely not. And prison officials have to make sure what is being taught is not hatred. And adding criminal background to the congratulations on the book. Especially here on fox and friends ive had a great relationship with you for many years. And i hope this will be a great year. Today was incredible. A massive volcano erupted in japan. Its climbers were sent running for their lives engulfed in a thick clash of ash. More than 30 people are dead and at least 34 others injured. Many in serious condition. At this hour, rescue teams of helicopters are searching for dozens of people who have been stuck on mount ontake for hours. Troops on the ground in syria despite chuck hagel saying that might be what we need to defeat isis. Boots on the ground. As more and more nations come together to fight the terror group, is there any hope they will land actual Ground Troops to the effort if the u. S. Doesnt . Do you believe for the next two years the administration will stick to the pledge not to add u. S. Troops to the mix over there . I do. When you say combat troops, i think it is possible that youll see special Operations Forces in the front lines to help in iraq with the iraqi army, but the idea of 5,000 or 10,000 troops, i think its pretty up likely the president is going to do that. Now, there was a little bit of hope this week, and the prince and saudi ambassador to the United States said, well, we have provided air strikes, saudi air strikes to help you in syria. We may provide saudi arab troops. That would be huge if you had them fighting on the ground in syria. And we also had this plan to train up the modern syria rebels, but the most we are talking about training is 5,000 over the next year. As you just pointed out, general dempsey, the chairman of the joint chiefs was saying, we need a force of 12,000 to 15,000 who successfully take on isis. So thats a two to threeyear process before we have enough of the rebels if we can find them to take on isis. Well, how many years did we try to train the iraqi army and we couldnt pull that off. We think in a few years we can train the moderate Syrian Rebels whom many experts disagree on who the moderate Syrian Rebels are. Theres no real leadership within that organization as well. So who do we talk to to actually get them on the same page . We thought training the iraqi army was easy, but this seems impossible. Thats right. Thats why some people think increasingly we are after the destruction of isis and pushing them out of iraq and thats going to be a very hard thing to do for a variety of reasons. But for the most were hoping to do in the next two to three years is a containment strategy through the air strikes to be able to contain what isis can do in the territory it holds. And that you can do through air strikes, but you certainly cant defeat them just from the air. Chris, what do you have coming up on the program today . We have a very packed show. How did apple get about this to make their technology easier so that the government can snoop. How . Director comey has a right to be concerned about this. When we think about a terror attack targeting a city and we need to understand it, time is of the essence. In this case, what hes asking for is can we sit down to talk about what to do with privacy and security for your customers, but at the same time dont let a marketing decision slow us down from doing our job. A marketing decision, the Company Makes money on the back of the technology, right . They are a technology company. And they are not responsible, the federal government, has snooped on its own without asking for permission in the first place. This is a larger question to the government with snooping. Apple is responding to that by having software that doesnt allow the government to snoop so much. So its not totally lets be clear, because it is not totally encrypted. In ios 8 specifically, if you are concerned about your federal government, download the new ios 8 because it has encryption for messages, photos, contacts, all of that, but there are ways the federal government can get into this with the icloud. There are protocols. When i think about the oklahoma case, for example, we didnt know if we were dealing with a lone wolf or agent of isis. And Law Enforcement used to give protocol to talk to Technology Companies to say after looking at his Facebook Page and other technology we believe this was a lone wolf. Now, investigations are still undergoing. But what if we were sitting here and didnt know . The protocols, lets have an open debate to change those to make sure we are not impeding Law Enforcement from doing their job. Is apple doing anything illegal here . No, and this is something other companies have done time and time again from computers to googles Android System that does something similar. It is not illegal. In fact, apple is just trying to protect its customers from other hackers. The back door can be put there for anybody to use, such as the chinese government, tracking dissidence and everything like that. Its important to have the door closed and lock sod nobody else can use it. Apple said we dont make money off your data like other companies do, so we have no reason to have access to your data and dont want your passcodes and information. It is for you. You purchase this Electronics Device for your own personal use. Why should we have access to it . Well, and my challenge with the premise, and i want to make sure whether its appl google or anybody else, when they come out to say we have done this so that youre protected from the bad guys, because it is unhackable. In my 20 years, i have not seen something that cant be hacked. All technology is hackable. So we have to make sure we strike that right balance. And yes, we do need apple, google and the others to protect our privacy and security. But lets make sure we say if the protocols with Law Enforcement are not working, well modify those. Lets not say we are locking out the bad guys and they can hack in yet the good guys cant get access to the information without taxpayer expense and a longer wait time. This is a classic science experience. You dont have to spend a week doing the paper mache volcano. Take a bag, tape it on a plastic bottle. Just one state over in arkansas a few years ago another radical muslim who was a convert from christianity shot and killed a u. S. Army recruiter outside of little rock. His name was andy long. And even though he said he did it for allah, that event was labelled a driveby shooting just like this is Workplace Violence. We believe the Islamic Society of oklahoma is radicalizing those in the mosque. Because now the emom of the large Islamic Society of boston was there for years. And when he himself hes a convert. And he became the leader of the oklahoma mosque. And when he was a leader of the oklahoma mosque, he was bragged about how efficient he did conversion. He was under the monitoring of the fbi because along with the chief recruiter for american terrorists, emom fought to work for another murderer h. Brown. So he was there for a long time and probably put his stamp on radicalizing on thatsque. We dont think he was there contemporaneously with mr. Nolen. What exactly is the interest that the Obama Administration has in downplaying the events to make them seem like random acts of violence and not radically inspired . Because they have a narrative and ideology that they dont want to brand all muslims as rat call, which is right. The problem is the radicalization of the historic modern population in america by people connected to the muslim brotherhood. So were trying to write stuff thats authentic and that reflects our beliefs. So what went into making this new solo record . Well, i came up with a new genre of music, i believe. Im referring because my friend woulds would ask me, what is the new solo sound . The best i could come up with is like folktronica. So it is a little different than what you were doing before. Very much so. Different sound. But, again, the foundation of the music, the intention of it is still the same. Give me an example. Give me a little of the folky song. It was our large tour, gorgeous moment, we are topping the hill in West Virginia and theres this little coal mining town and this steeple pointing up at the top of it. I was feeling nostalgic, wondering what is this next thing in front of me and theres this little thing and im thinking, man, life used to be a little more difficult. It was a struggle just to stay on this side of the dirt, you know .
