I think the only person who you see rooting for a Government Shutdown is the president. I think it hurt him a little the last shutdown. But this to lizs point, this is a new issue and what i think the democrats are playing with fire is it plays to the idea lets abolish ice. But on ice, the idea of eliminating their beds and so forth, that cuts close to the idea lets get rid of ice all together. What the president is trying to do is frame the issue as not the border wall versus something else. It is either we have Border Security or we dont. And im not sure this particular stand helps the democrats in that debate. He is waiting for a bill to come to his desk that he can sign into law and you now have the conferees arguing over beds and barriers. Bill point being if you limit the number of beds you limit the amount of Law Enforcement that ice can do because you would essentially have only a limited amount of space to put these people in. This has to do with ices activities in basically apprehending people in the country illegally and most of the time have been charged with some sort of crime. The president tweeting about that yesterday and today saying the Border Committee democrats are behaving of a sudden irrationally. Not only unwilling to give dollars for the wall, they overrode recommendations of Border Patrol experts but they dont want to take murderers into custody. They dont want us to detain or send back criminal aliens. A brandnew demand. Crazy.
