The story of a neighbors collapse. Venezuela massive street demonstrations, three dead. The socialist president maduro says the time for come back has arrived. Its destabilizing the region. What should america do . Send in the marines, send food . Let them sort it out themselves . Were on it, and what exactly are we allowed to smoke. On the day that new york city bans Tobacco Sales in some stores and tries to put up the pack of cigarettes to 13, thousands of people will light up a joint in public. Its marijuana day, 420. Come to this, tobacco increasingly expensive and outlawed and marijuana increasingly accepted and getting cheaper. Varney company is about to begin. A disintegration of venezuela, once a wealthy country, sitting on the biggest oil reserves in the hemisphere, now a socialist dictatorship and falling into anarchy. Look at that. Emack, whats this about the seizure of a General Motors plant. Liz yeah, affecting 2700 workers. The judiciary in venezuela took the factory and gm is upset about this. Theyre saying, were going to take venezuela to international court, Due Process Rights violated. Affects 2700 workers and gm says well pay basically separation benefits to the worker. Its a bigger story, gm dominates that market, and 79 dealers, the workers, parts supply market. Gm mass been a Market Leader in venezuela for 35 years and ford fled the country or dialing down, halliburton, p g, companies are leaving the government continues to nationalize and seizing assets, including a lot of cars they took. Stuart would you agree this is crisis time, the moment of crisis has arrived. Liz it is crisis, we know three dead in the recent uprisings, and seven, nearly ten people dead. There is torture going on. Young people are being cattle prodded, electric shocked, hand tied to pipe and beaten. Theyre being tortured. Its a collapse of socialism, a best example how socialism is an abject failure around the planet and weve never seen the fast and spiraling deterioration. Remember that vicepresident , he has ties to hezbollah and he ran in syria and baath party the. And they were giving visas to syrians. Ann coulters speech is canceled and shes going anywhere. Byron, it seems like the free speech ball is in her court, they can arrest her or protect free speech. That would be quite a scene. Its not unusual, the birth of the speech speech birthdays. A speech was canceled in february and there was a violent confrontation over donald trump, looked like a miniature version of venezuela there and now theyve canceled ann coulter, i think she will go ahead and speak somewhere, it will get a lot of attention, but this is kind of a nationwide trend. Remember charles middlebury. Theres a lot of antifree speech on campus. Stuart i feel weve come to the point of no return. Especially the speech by ann coulter, she says shes going anywhere, told tucker carlson, shes going to be there and theres a moment of confrontation, maybe we lay down the law for the rest of the term of donald trump. You think its come to that point . It important for the principle. But what is really important here is somehow to convince the authorities at the university to stand up for free speech. As i understand it, ann says they tried to impose progressively restrictions on the speech and make her speak in the afternoon at some secret location so nobody would know that she was there and i believe her response was, she would agree to all that if the authorities would agree to actually say that anyone disrupting the speech would be expelled and to not stand by while protesters were given the free run of the place. The point here i think what she was doing is to try to push the administration, the University Administration to actually take a stand in favor of free speech and they wont do it. Stuart what gets to me is that the country is obviously very much polarized and this situation with ann coulter, conservative, not allowed to speak upon a major campus, thats getting no coverage at all. If it were the other way around, if it were intensely liberal speaker denied getting, even getting onto campus, all hell will be breaking lose, pardon my french. That is a true alternate universe scenario, this would not happen on todays campus because there are no big conservative campuses, but youre absolutely right. This has only gotten worse since the election of donald trump and the creation of this resistance movement, clearly, i think most university campuses, most University Administrations are very sympathetic to that. Although, we did have a little hint of this, you know the Berkeley Administration started talking about kind of outside ajtators, in other words, its not us, its small militant groups coming onto campus. If thats the case, they can do something about that. Stuart back in the day when i was at college, if you didnt like a speaker, you could listen to them and heckle them and we did, but you didnt throw them off the campus and stop them speaking. That was way back then of course. The judge is next and hes laughing because its a long time ago. [laughter] hes getting his dig right in there. Must have some memory. And you can explain the hecklers veto, the administration is canceling, suppressing free speech worried about the reaction it might cause. Stuart very good, byron. You got him, i think, with that one, well done, young man. Thank you. Stuart lets get to your money, weve done politics, a little of it. Weve got green arrows, looks like the dow will open 30odd points higher amex is up in the opening bell and people are spending a lot of money on American Express cards, thats good news for the company and then we have foot locker. They looked down the road and their profits are not that great. Initially that stock went down. Now, its moved up 2 . 74 a share on foot locker free market. Verizon posted its first ever quarterly net loss of subscribers, and revenue and profit came in lower than expected and that thing down 3 . Now this, buy a pack of cigarettes in new york city today, it will cost you about 10. 50. Soon, it could be 13 a pack. Mayor deblasio demand that higher price and restrictions on which stores can sell tobacco. Meanwhile, today is 420, april 20th, the unofficial marijuana holiday. More and more places are legalizing marijuana. Judge napolitano is explaining the cant dix, marijuana more and more accepted and tobacco tobacco is still legal, so heavily taxed, local, federal, State Government acquires more than 50 billion a year in taxes on tobacco. Stuart thats nationwide. They think they want you to stop smoking, that would blow a hole in so many budgets. And mayor deblasio, typical of many big city mayors, think they can dissuade people from purchasing Tobacco Products by increasing taxes. All that does it buy underground and cause them to buy loosies, tax free, the seller is not going to be an agent of the state and hes by raising taxes decreasing revenue to the city and increasing the commerce in cigarette and Tobacco Products. Marijuana is challenging because of the attitude of President Trump and attorney general sessions, different from the attitude of president obama and his attorneys general. Theyre not going to look the other way in states where its legal frecreational purposes, only for medicinal. And this is devastating for a state like colorado where its as available as tobacco, the feds are going to start cracking down on it. Stuart the feds in that sense are beginning to pull back on increasing acceptance of marijuana. Yes, yes. Stuart a contradiction. And president obama was in the white house before he stopped smoking more of his hard left supporters were angry at him for smoking tobacco than for cracking down on marijuana. Stuart all over the country today, 420, people are going to be lighting up marijuana joints and smoking openly and there will not be an arrest. Police dont want to stop you because they have more important things to do. Stuart if i went out on the street and sold loose cigarettes. A terrible situation in new york where a guy was killed by police for selling cigarettes. The hecklers veto is dangerous. Thats where police let the heckler silence the speaker, the Supreme Court says they have to find a balance. You have a right to heckle and ann coulter has a right to speak. Stuart they have to have a balance perfectly right for her to speak particularly at that school that is owned by the government. Stuart weve got bad news for Neiman Marcus, its borrowing money to make Interest Payments on their debt. Its like using your mastercard to pay your visa. And the socialist president arming supporters, telling them to take on them. Will the sean penns of the world keep supporting this . And the moment at the white house, the super bowl. Tight end rob gronkowski, he crashed sean penns news conference, watch this. And what pans out in the negotiation and can i just. [laughter] i think i got this, but thank you. May maybe. Thanks, man. Ill see you in a minute. Hold on. [laughte [laughter] all right, that was cool. Thanks for doing this, dad. So i thought it might be time to talk about a financial strategy. You mean pay him back . So lets Start Talking about your longterm goals. Knowing your future is about more than just you. Its how edward jones makes sense of investing. On your big day the only tears you. Not allergies. From joy. Flonase allergy relief helps block 6 key inflammatory substances that cause nasal congestion and itchy, watery eyes. Its an allergy nasal spray that works beyond the nose. Flonase. The stock of starbucks has received a nice boost. Stifel nicolaus says buy it, perhaps they were influenced by the unicorn frappaccino. Back to venezuela, president maduro has given guns to his street thug supporters, he says the time for combat has arrived. Come in Michelle Malkin, the author of sold out, first of all, i want to know where sean penn is in this. Hes a big supporter of the socialist revolution. Of the. Good question, stuart. The fan club for socialist venezuela has been eerily silent. Crickets during the protest. Usually the left loves the protest and gravitate to them like moths to the flame. There havent been any hashtags celebrating the resistance. And sean penn and actors and actresses who kissed ring of hugo chavez when he was alive and said nothing about maduro cracking down on his people. They are a he nowhere to be found. We need an all points bulletin out for these people. Stuart and theyre our neighbor, fairly close neighbors, venezuela. Should we send in the marines, or food in or say, look, fix it. This is your problem, you fix it. What should we do . Another big question, stuart. I certainly am not one it crusade for america being the worlds policemen, but there are things we can do from a position of moral authority to make hour opposition to this brutality clear. We had Rex Tillerson, the secretary of state, asked about this, expressed his concern about the constitutional violations of nicolas maduro. Of course, we had gm have its plant seized, you know, just this week. Im surprised that they hung on as long as they did. Since 2013 there have been i think eight Multinational Companies that have withdrawn from the country. It will be interesting to see if President Trump will make a statement about this, especially since over the last several weeks Rex Tillerson signaled wherever there is injustice, america will be there. Stuart id love to see some politicians in america label themselves socialist. Bernie sanders is a democratic socialist. I wonder if thisll drop that word from their nomenclature. Thats a good question about the ideological accountability for socialists like Bernie Sanders should be held to. There have been a half dozen deaths over the last several weeks. A University Student was murdered as a result of these protests. And yet, there is Bernie Sanders who criticized the American Economic system, i dont know if you remember this during the campaign our problem we had too many choices on our store shelves. Do you remember this . He said there were 23 different kinds of deodorant and too many different kinds of sneakers. This was the problem and yet, here in venezuela youve got starving desperate people who cant get toilet paper, for whom the daily struggles for s subsistence is brutal and theres absolute silence in the halls of congress. Stuart well said, michelle. Author of sold out, well see you again soon. Bruce springsteen has a new song that bashes President Trump. Youll hear it next. Weve got the lyrics. Dont tell me a lie and sell it as a fact. I have a been down that road before and i aint going back. Later he sings, and dont you brag to me that you never read a book. I never put my faith in a con man and his crooks. Ashley isnt that clever . A rhythm to it. Ashley its strange he champions the working class and factories shut down. Isnt that what President Trump appealed to and had those people vote to him because he was trying to, you know, buy american, hire american. It seems to me hes insulting the base he claims to represent. Stuart what was that song my home town, wasnt that about displaced workers and sympathetic to them and now hes got an antitrump song apology grew up listening to Bruce Springsteen. The lyrics feel insipid, why not wrote about terrorists killing us, or socialists, and sounds like hes plagiarizing his own melodies as well. Stuart i have to separate sometimes peoples artistry and talent like springsteen, i like the music. Sean penn in venezuela, a director. Liz Rolling Stone and liberace says dont mix politics and entertainment. Stuart and i like them. Well be up 40 points and youll see it here. Thursday morning, 15 seconds to go before we ring that opening bell and we will see the market go a little bit higher right from the getgo. The futures suggest a gain of about 40 points. Five seconds from now well see if the futures correctly predicted how were going to open. Here we go, 3, 2, 1, bang were off. 20,400 weve recaptured that mark. Up 10. A lot of green on the lefthand side. Okay, were up 15 points. A little higher than that before we calm down. Up 13 now. Opening barely on the upside. Ive got news on individual stocks for you. Very interesting. Card member spending climbed at American Express. That company will be up momentarily. It was up premarket, thats a fact. Weak profit forecast at ebay, down 3 in a very early going. More on that in a moment. Does anybody still use ebay . Ill ask the question. Liz yeah, okay. Stuart Phillip Morris, theyve been reporting declining cigarette shipments for a long time now. They are looking into smoking alternatives like something called heat not burn tobacco. Look at that go down, 4 drop. American express has now opened, up nearly 3 . Those members, people who have an american epress card are spending more on it. Big profits there for amex. We have with us today ashley webster, elizabeth macdonald. Scott martin and todd horowitz. And they did a survey of Fund Managers, 83 of them say that stocks in america are overvalued. Scott martin, what do you say to that . This is stuff i love to see, stuart. These surveys come out from time to time and ironically theyve predicted about 10 of the last two market corrections, if you get my drift. This is a typical sentiment indicator, when the markets are said to be overvalued and cant be more upside, i like the numbers if youre in skoks here. Stuart todd horowitz, youre a long time bear. You believe a correction, and some are overvalued . I think its probably realistic, theyre starting to move some of the stocks out, looking for more defensive names and i think thats why i expect theyre overvalued and obviously i agree with them, i think were significantly overvalued here, without growth, without real good things, the 4 we were promised, no tax plan, a lot of things indicating the market is near at least a shortterm correction. Stuart one thing that is keeping the market up is profits and profits performance so far this quarter, not too bad so far. Individual stocks making news. Look at this, Neiman Marcus a borrowing money to make Interest Payments on its debt. Thats like using your visa card to use your mastercard. Liz this is turning upsidedown rapidly. Its a problem for retailers saddling company with a lot of debt. 5, 6 billion in debt neiman must and 100 million in cash, cash burn is severe. Jokes on social media, maybe Neiman Marcus should have kept selling ivanka trumps jewelry line. Stuart thats part of the retail ice age problem, people arent buying in bricks and mortar quite quite like they used to. New yorks mayor deblasio selfboosting the price of cigarettes to 13. Its 10. 50 right now. Ashley they estimate 900,000 smokers in new york city, i go past most of them from here to grand central, its terrible. [laughter] he believes it will drop 160,000 over the next three years. I dont know, i dont know whether people are going to pay another 2. 50 a pack. Liz isnt he cracking down on ecigarettes as well. Stuart i know hes restricted places where you can buy real cigarettes. Ashley he wants to impose a retail license in order to sell ecigarettes. Stuart scott martin, what do you think of all of this. Tobacco stocks, in or out of them . No, im out of this because of this whole kind of anticigarette movement. Whats interesting, this is coincidental, its 420 and everyone in the Marijuana Industry is super excited about this day for whatever reason. The smoking companies leak you mentioned, Phillip Morris on the top of the show, the prices going up in smoke today, ha, ha, but theyll get into the marijuana business eventually. When they move away from cigarettes, because of things like deblasio is doing, it will help to boost their stock prices. Stuart i think that marijuana is acceptable in parts of the country and tobacco is outlawed in various parts of the country. It used to be a contradiction, how that works out, i dont know. Check the big board, were up 50 points in nearly five minutes of business this thursday morning. Up 50 at 20,454. Oil having 50. Stuart. Stuart hold on a second, todd, ill get you, oil 50 a barrel and it was 52 yesterday. The price of regular gasoline up 2. 41, at 2. 41 today thats slightly higher. Ebay weak profit forecast from ebay and theyre down 3 . Is ebay as popular as it once was. Liz i think people still go on it. Ashley no. Stuart todd, i heard you shouting all the way from chicago. What did you want to say . Get in. Phillip morris and tobacco stocks are doing extremely well. Phillip morris came from 60. Its 100something. These guys are going to find a better way. Look at altria. They pay great dividends. Theyre looking at alternative spaces for their wares. Look at takeover of British Tobacco a couple months ago. Stuart thanks for getting in there, todd. Good stuff. Emirates, the airline, theyve cut the number of flights they make to the United States. Cut them by about 20 . Now, remember, please, emirates is the Worlds Largest international carrier. Now, why did they do that . They did it in part because of the ban on Electronic Devices on board planes in the passenger cabin. Liz isnt that the market telling the airlines, yes, people are scared and theyre not going to fly these flights, take these flights . Remember, pan am flight 103 in 1988 was brought down by a device, a bomb. Stuart in the baggage. Liz a bomb in a tape recorder. Stuart now flights, some flights coming to america from parts of the middle east, not allowed to carry a laptop on board. Cannot have an Electronic Device on board because it might be a bomb. Liz a recurring problem. Ashley concerns for passengers, of course. Lets be honest 126 flights to 101 flights, its not a massive scaleback. Stuart true, but the establishment media is going to say this is because President Trump is discouraging flights to america from muslim majority countries. Liz well, no, theres been evidence of this being an issue. There have been bombs caught in devices in the past. Stuart this is true. Todd, i hear you again, get in. No, i think that theyre cutting down because of just those reasons, there is more fear of terrorism, people dont want to get on a lot of these flights and all of these Electronic Devices, who knows whats in one of them. They strip you down, but dont do a good job at the airport as it is, always something to be afraid of. Stuart scott martin, i always said i would never invest in an airline again after i lost my shirt on peoples express. I tried to help you out, because i used to fly that with my parents out of ohio all the time. I did my work there, but couldnt save the stock. About the market, emack kind of mentioned it, emirates wont take the flights, somebody may pick them up if theres demand. Thats the beauty of airlines, those flights and routes get filled if theres a demand on it. Stuart airlines have done well the past few years. Before that they never did well at all. Warren buffett stayed out and now hes bought a stake in united. Theyve changed their model. Stuart changed their model, ethat. They started to hedge fuel and they became more like southwest. Southwest showed you cou be successful and united and american never would hedge fuel now they actually buy the fuel so they know what every seat costs and thats a big difference and why they failed in the past. Stuart look at united airlin airlines. United continental, back to 70 a share. Fully recovered. Stuart recovered i think entirely from the dragging incident of less than two weeks ago. Liz quickly, executive is going to testify before congress about consumer issues so that could come up. Stuart but the stock is not hurt. Liz thats true. Stuart General Motors says it will stop immediately its operations in venezuela. One of its plants there was seized by state authorities. Now, thats not going to affect the stock. Im not implying that for one moment. In fact, the stock is up 1 , but its a cautionary tale of socialism on our doorstep collapsing. Liz and gm says theyll fight in court. Vehicles were stoleline by the judiciary in venezuela. It affects thousands of workers in the factory, and dealers and gm donated that for years. Stuart thank you, liz. Many people are choosing bottled water over soda and thats hitting soda sales. The steepest volume declines were for diet pepsi, down 9 . Diet coke, down 4. 3 . I dont todd martin, scott martin, im sorry, cocacola, thats not a soda company any longer, its a Water Company, isnt it . It is, and dasani is one of their big lines. Thats the interesting thing, this is a health movement, something thats been going on for many years and a lot of Soda Companies were late to the game in covering this. The Energy Drinks were a big boost for a while, but now its the water and its good for stock prices now theyre with the health movement. Stuart by the way, ive been told, weve got mcdonalds at 132. 96, the new alltime high. Ashley almost daily. Stuart i think thats a lot to do with using an app to preorder online, mobile ordering on all outlets by the end of the year, less staff at 15 an hour, you know . Sometimes you get stuart, kiosks in the mcdonalds in chicago downtown. You go in, order your cheeseburger, fries, shakes at a kiosk, and pick it up and not talk to a person, how about that. Stuart thats what you do when you have 15 minimum wage, thats what you do. You go from a medium to a large coffee, stuart . Im sorry. Did you go from a medium to a large coffee now that theyre no, still a small coffee black to go, seniors price, 53 cents out the door, i know how to do these things. Thank you very much, indeed, scott and todd. Great to have you on the show, good stuff. Now were up 30 points and we have been up 50, a marginal gain this morning on a thursday morning. Different kind of story about amazon for you. We have a guest who says amazon is actually hurting the economy. Hell make his case in a moment after this. We were up 50, now this thursday morning, we are up 30. Here we go. How about snapon as in snapon tools, up, what, 5. Thats about 4 just a couple of days after President Trump visited their facility. Im not sure there is a connection. They actually came out with pretty good earnings, i believe. Ashley yes. Stuart and the stock is up. Now this, a new study finds that blood from the umbilical cord of babies could help improve, what is it, memory or longevity . Its all in mice, not in humans, but thats where you begin the tests and they found a protein in the umbilical cord blood when put into an older mouse, its ability to remember things like getting through a maze improve significantly. Its a long time before they apply this to the human. Taking youngblood and putting it in an older body, but they believe it could signal the beginning of something that could help alzheimers patients and others by something thats triggered in the brain by the protein. Stuart we will record any advantage or advance in that area. We will do that. Liz thats kind of borderline, sorry. Stuart we have an amazon story every day on this program and usually its a positive story about amazon. The stock, of course, has gone to 900 a share and up from there. Our next guest, however, says amazon is ruining the country. Retail analyst Bert Flickinger is making the case. You and i recommended amazon at the viewers profit. But amazon had 20 years of government give aways Distribution Centers and whats the government give away to amazon . Whether its the clinton, the bushes, or obamas, free Distribution Centers. Stuart what do you mean free they have to build and pay for them . Amazon has gotten a lot of free ride since 1994 because they were an undercapitalized company, didnt report profits, doesnt have to declare sales tax and abatement on commercial property tax. Theyve been subsidized and each year grosses 25 billion, more than miss sis and booming dales combined. Stuart whats wrong with that . Its progress, isnt it . Its moving from bricks and mortar, the old way of doing things, the shopping mall, to online selling, which a lot of people like. Government give aways stuart, wiped out 10 million multimiddle class jobs in retail with benefits, retail over 40 million jobs, biggest employer u. S. And worldwide. These people replaced with parttime job, cant afford to pay their bills and its just taking America Closer to the bottom. Everybody loves low prices and lovemaking money on the stock, but it has to be a level and fair Playing Field for everyone and amazon and walmart have gotten the benefits that others dont get because of the government give aways. Stuart what was it about a week ago, sitting in that same seat. We had the former ceo of saks fifth avenue he said in this calendar year between 6 and 8,000 bricks and Mortar Stores would close in part because of the amazons of this world. 6 and 8,000 is a large number. Hes doing a great job turning around j. C. Penney, but hes conservative, it will be 10,000 or more, because invading from europe and there will be a price war of unprecedented proportion of fallouts and liquidations like weve never seen. Stuart up to 10,000 . Thats apocalypse. Yes. Stuart quick one on Neiman Marcus, how we understand it, theyre borrowing money so they can pay the interest on the debt theyve already got. You dont do that. Its terrible. As you and liz pointed out, its like using your visa card to pay mastercard. The holding company, aries which owns neiman market and 99 cent stores, had as had a better chance of 99 cent only store making it than Neiman Marcus. 99 cent store traded up 40 a bond and Neiman Marcuss bond 30 and 40. And in terms of filing distress in certain situations, retail has a low Credit Rating on Neiman Marcus and looks like its lower to the month on your point on borrowing to pay down debt. Stuart i find it fascinating. Literally, in the space of a year, year and a half, two years, retail im not going to say in collapse, but dire straits. I could never imagine this before. The irony is neiman spenders, they go to the stores and want to buy the best gucci shoes and goes to neiman and saks and gucci doesnt give them the product and gucci can get them the next day. Theyre screwing the stores and themselves overall and the major european fashion prices worldwide, its not limited to ivanka trump, theyre doing in the stores, Neiman Marcus and barnae barneys and others. Stuart youre saying that the collapse of the bricks and Mortar Stores are at hand and nothing to do about it because amazon has had a leg up from the government and nothing is going to change. Amazon with walmart and others, so, its going to eviscerate Public Sector jobs, pension plans, wont collect property tax, wont collect sales tax, retail and layoffs of unprecedented proportions, hurting purchasing power and impairing the economy going forward. Stuart does amazon despite your criticism go to 1,000 a share . No, goes to 1100 a share, because of all of this, stuart. Stuart 1100 bucks he said on amazon. You and i said it together, 5500. Stuart i didnt recommend it. I did, on fox business news, power to prosper. Stuart thanks for joining us, sir. Appreciate it. Absolutely, yeah, we want to look for most inspiring companies. Stuart inspiration is the world that you use. All right, how about microsoft . [laughter] sir, thank you for joining us. I really like your concept and good stuff. Thank you. Stuart come back when weve got more time. Thank you. Stuart thank you very much. Thank you, sir. Rights on the streets in venezuela, three People Killed and the countrys socialist president arming thugs to take on antigovernment protesters. Here is our question, what do we do about it . Flonase helps block 6 key inflammatory substances that cause all your symptoms, including nasal congestion and itchy, watery eyes. Flonase is an allergy nasal spray that works even beyond the nose. So you can enjoy every beautiful moment to the fullest. Flonase. 61 changes everything. Stuart what should america do when a neighboring country collapses . Its a question that has to be answered and quickly. The neighbor is venezuela. It has been in a slow motion collapse for years. And now it has come to a head. No food. No supplies. Riots. Three dead. President maduro has given gun to the his street thugs supporters. He says the time for combat has arrived. What do we do . Send in the marines . Surely not. We would immediately become wicked yankee imperialists and targets too. Send Food Supplies . That would certainly be a good humanitarian move but maduros thugs could soon commandeer everything, and our humanitarian gesture would probably prolong the dictatorship. How about letting venezuelans fix it themselves . That is what the huge demonstrations are all about. It is a revolt. And it is a problem that theyre trying to fix it. Couldnt we have a quiet word with venezuelas generalses, giving some encouragement . They dont have to shoot their own people, do they . More than anything else, use venezuela as a lesson. Socialist dictatorships are a recipe for disaster, moral, political, humanitarian, disaster. One last point. What are americas socialists saying . Not much. How about sean penn and other celebrities who were in full support of the socialist revolution . Do they still think the chavezmaduro dictatorship was a wonderful benefit to mankind . That was sarcasm. The second hour of Varney Company is about to begin. Stuart with the Dow Jones Industrials up 46 points, latest read on mortgages. Liz 3. 97 for the 30 year. Fifth week in a row it has dropped. Hitting the lows of the year. Were deep into the spring home selling season. Half the transactions of the year happen now. But Mortgage Applications have dropped below last years levels. And Mortgage Rates are still much lower than they were before the recession. Ashley there is complete lack of homes on the market. New jersey is trying to pass a no knock law stopping Real Estate Agent going doortodoor if theyre interested in selling their house. Stuart why would they do that . Ashley there is no inventory. Stuart we want some business. Liz knock, knock, is your home. Stuart new jersey. Dont get me started. More stocks that we are watching today. How about the fab five, the Big Technology companies, most of them are up. Only amazon is down a fraction. Just dropping a fraction below 900 per share, okay . Theyre up. The dow is up 50. Now this, the university of berkeley, california, canceled the speech of conservative author ann coulter citing safety concerns. She says she will give the speech anyway. Listen to this. They kept piling on requirements, ruses, you cant speak in the evening. You have to speak in the day time when kids are in classes. Were not sure which room youre going to use. Werent tell you until the last minute. Exclude everyone except students. Although the groups, intermediaries say this is unfair. They never do this to liberals. I said, nope, ill do it. Okay, okay. I am giving the speech. I dont know, what are they going to do, arrest me . Stuart that is a very good question, actually. Joining us is katie pavlich, Fox News Contributor and town hall editor. That is interesting. This could be crunch time. Berkeley says you cant give the speech. Coulter says she will give it anyway. Seems the police have a choice, can arrest her because she is not supposed to be there. Or do their jobs and protect her. I think crunch time for free speech is here. Absolutely. Good for ann coulter saying she will show up anyway. This happened at Depaul University when ben shapiro was prevented giving a speech on campus. At berkeley, the reason theyre i saying a safety issue, liberal student cant behave themselves and they have to turn to violence when they hear things that are opposed to their own point of view. If you will remember, just a couple of month ago, there were very violent riots at berkeley as a result of another right conservative speaker coming in. Because the police failed to do their job to arrest those students and agitators, here we are in the situation again. Theyre saying this is safety issue. Safety is always a bogus argument that universities across the country use to keep conservatives speakers off of campus. It isnt because the conservatives are dangerous. It is because liberal students are dangerous and cant control themselves. Police have an obligation and a constitutional obligation according to the First Amendment to protect people who want to speak on campus. Stuart do your job. Come on. I think part of the blame here is with the faculty. Of course. Stuart a lot of faculty members are baby boomers like myself, grew up in the protest movement of the 1960s, and never grew out of it. Theyre still there. They staff the universities and they are encouraging this kind of nonsensical behave are i dont. I want to know what is the solution here . I dont one. Theyre huge hypocrites. Berkeley was birthplace of free speech on campus in the 60s. Very same people who are in charge are telling student they should say things ouch when they hear words that offend them. Solution is to it fight back. Ann coulter is doing a thing thing she will show up anyway to give the speech. Student should stay strong. Invite more conservative speakers. People should support organizations like Young Americas Foundation that sends conservative speaksers to the hostile environments make sure student, not just conservative students, all students are better prepared for life because they hear a different perspective than the one their liberal marxist professors are preaching inside of their classrooms at rate of 100,000 per year by the way. Stuart im dying to see what happens when ann coulter fronts up. I want to see what happens. I think this is crunch time for free speech today. Not just at berkeley. Onlege campuses across the country. Stuart youre too young to remember him. His name was mario savio, 1960s, he started the Free Speech Movement at berkeley. Mario savio a name to conjure it. You dont remember it. I do. Google it. I will. Thank you, stuart. Have a good one. Stuart now this. The Trump Administration announce as crackdown on the Central American gaining known as ms 13. There is a sidebar story here. A federal program exists that places minor who cross the border, illegally, places those minors with guardians. Some of the guardians have criminal backgrounds. Congressman peter king joins us now, republican from new york. Are we to understand that some of those minors cross the border, placed with guardians and some of the guardians were gang members . Is that accurate, sir . Stuart, yes, it is and these recent murders, horrible, horrible, barbaric tortures and slashings machete killings in brentwood, residential neighborhoods, horrific killings carried out by ms 13. Ive been talking to the Police Commissioner tim seeny, reality, talking about these acts not talking about recent murders, they havent been resolved. Recent ms 13 arrest in Suffolk County in my district, more than 70 are unaccompanied minors. They come across the bored. Theyre held brieflily homeland security. Then they go to hhs and find homes to stay in. Intelligence shows that ms 13 are getting in communities like central islip, or long island, threatening families, or volunteering to take the kids in. Hhs sends kids into the neighborhood. We have 4,000, 4,000 just in the last two years have come into Suffolk County of these kids. 70 of the recent arrests of ms 13 have been unaccompanied minors. Why am i not reading about this on the front page of the New York Times . Why not . Fox business has to reveal this . Why . Basically this was a program to show how humanitarian we were. These poor kids coming across the border. Government would find places to live in. They would be mainstreamed into american society. That was the false dream. Reality many of them, significant number are terrorizing neighborhoods which theyre in. Again, i, spoke yesterday with jeff sessions, attorney general. Also i spoke to secretary tom prices office from hhs. They are now going to be giving this top priority. This began under obama administration. I assume it was wellintentioned. Reality like a killing field right in a suburban community in Suffolk County. I was awake last night, absolutely horrible. Stuart congressman, i want to thank you for bringing this to our attention. That is a major story. That is an outrage. Thank you, sir. Before you go, i may have something which is a little more contradictory for you. As you know i have a calendar on the screen at the moment. Congress works only eight days in the front of april. We dont have a Health Care Fix of the we dont have a tax reform plan. Ive been suggesting congress should stay in session over summer recess, work through the july 4th barbecues if you have to and get something done. That is where im coming from. Are you with me, congressman peter king . If as far as work is, im in the Office Every Day on long island. Im hoare every day. So, i think i took six days off all last year. Reality, that is up to the speaker. If he feels we can get it done, weve done in the past. Having people sitting there not getting it done doesnt work. There is rush to get it done before the 100 days are up. I spoke to Reince Priebus yesterday on that. Whatever it takes to get it done. Im here. Whatever you wan me to do i will do. I have no problem with it. Stuart excellent. You jolted me with mario savio he grew up in queens near me. And brought back all the horrible memories. You ruined my stuart he died a few years ago. Great man for the berkeley Free Speech Movement. Pleasurehave you on the show. Thank you. Stuart today is april 20th. Otherwise known as 4 20. They will be celebrating lighting up marijuana, split, joints, et cetera. 26 states have legalized marijuana in some form. Well have that. In venezuela opposition takes to the streets for the mother of all marchs. What should america do . Were asking that question. Hollywood relying on china not only for cash but many, many moviegoers in china. What a story. Weve got it stuart a sudden burst to the upside. The dow is u i see lots of green on the upside 80 points. Venezuela situation, three dead at this point and General Motors plant has been seized. Liz venezuelan government took the factory. Thousands of jobs are at stake. Gm has been in venezuela since the 40s. They will take them to court. Theyre saying this is illegal. Want our factories back. Took cars as well. Stuart good luck with that. We dont have a independent judiciary in venezuela. They are the stooges of the despotic government. Thanks for the update. Now this. Shooting in fresno, california, a man kills three people. He hated white people, but as he was doing one of the shootings he said, allow allahu akbar , that is a statement terrorists do when committing the act. He. We have a former undercover counterterrorism operative and advisor to u. S. Agencies on isis. Welcome to the program. Thanks for having me. Stuart was it a hate crime . I dont want to get involved in the nittygritty, was it hate crime or terror . When he said al law a la akbar. Stuart you would say its a hate crime . Yes. Stuart thats what it is . Yes. Stuart because the media was dancing around this for a long time. We knew what he was shouting as he was killing that white person the we also knew the background that, he hated white people. So the the media was very, very reluctant to slap that label down there. You are a terrorist. You have seen this before . Yeah. I mean especially when youre dealing with a group like the nation of islam. This guy seemed to be motivated by a lot of black supremacist world views. A lot of which is heavily racialized and so i think, again it just shows it is more of a hate crime than really terrorism. Wasnt trying to change any government policy. Stuart are you a former jihadi . A former extremist, once upon a time in my 20s, i was. Stuart you saw the light . I did see the light. Stuart youre playing other side of the fence. I became a counterterrorism operative for a number of years. Stuart the ap, they tweeted about this story, the fresno shootings. Instead of saying the man shouted allahu akbar , he shouted, god is great. Was that an attempt to cover up the islamic link . It is hard to say, if i read somebody shot somebody and shouted god is great, im pretty sure he said allahu akbar . I dont know if they need to put allahu akbar , maybe it would be more specific. If i see it in english i get the same language. Stuart could be the man be inspired by isis reading stuff on the internet. He was inspired by a material, his twitter account wasnt really jihadi we would expect to find somebody. They usually have proisis postings. A lot of this guy were proback sue prem system, antiwhite. Stuart . We often here we should clamdown on terrorist propaganda on the internet. I take it youre involved in that kind of work . Is that what you do . A lot of years we tracked and countered isis influence online if we shut them down, we dont know who they are anymore. We dont know where they are anymore. We dont know who theyre talking with. What platforms theyre using. It goes both ways, if we cut it off were completely blind. If we let it go they might be able to recruit people and at same time we can map out the network and whack them when the time comes. Stuart fascinating work. Thank you very much for joining us. Youre welcome. Stuart secretary of state Rex Tillerson confirming that the Trump Administration is conducting quote, a comprehensive review of the nuclear deal with iran, saying he has no intention of passing the buck. Were all over this story. The iran nuke deal, on the way back. Stuart heres a headline for you. The obamacare costs continue to soar. Gerri willis has some numbers. First of all obamacare costs. This is what insurers charge americans to buy obamacare coverage. Theyre starting to file their paperwork right now. June 18 is the deadline. Theyre staggered. This is wild guess what they will do. Numbers dont look good. 75 say they will raise prices by at least 10 . And 25 say they will raise prices by more than 20 . So, think about it. All in all, when they interviewed these folks, this was a study by oliver wyman, they found none will keep costs same or reduce costs. Theyre all going up. Stuart hold on a second. I have latebreaking news. I think youve got this news. Your contacts suggest that the Freedom Caucus is close, use that word a lot, close to a deal on obamacare which could be, put before Congress Soon . Here who is working together. Congressman tom mcattar thursday, Freedom Caucus, white house are working together to come up with a resolution for obamacare, right . It has not been in the press very much. Theyre doing it very quietly. Theyre putting up to the senate to see if it gets by the senate parliamentarian. That is one of the stages everybody is doing. They will have some things Freedom Caucus finds so contentious. They allow states to make their own decisions. Mollifies the Freedom Caucus, makes them happier. This coming closer. They could do a repeal bill very quickly. The question, can they do more than that . Stuart we have heard this before but this is solid, concrete stuff . This is what im being told by my sources in health care and the hill. They say theyre walking closer. If youre looking for the initiative to come out of paul ryan, not so much. This is led by tom mcarthur, centrist republican in the tuesday caucus. Stuart made news there. Thank you, gerri willis, thank you very much indeed. Now this, honda announcing a big investment in america. Whats that about . Ashley will invest 124 million to establish what they say is wind tunnel facility at the Transportation Research center in ohio. Plays into the narrative of President Trump. Stuart i think they want to be liked. Ashley yes. Stuart 124 million is not that much money. Ashley no, but it helps. Stuart sorry. This one is for you, almost called you bruce. Hold on a is being ashley. Bruce springsteen is releasing a new song, trump is a con man. The song is called, that is what makes us great. Some of the lyrics. Dont tell me a lie, sell it on the fact, ive been down that road before and i aint going back. Dont brag to me you never read a book, i never put my faith in a con man and his crooks. Ashley who said shut up and sing . Stuart ann coulter. Ashley it may have been, but if it wasnt its a good line. Stuart it is a good line. Ashley Bruce Springsteen the champion of the working man and woman, those people voted for President Trump, oh by the way. I like his music, i got to say. You two do as well, i dont know about gerri. This crosses the line. Stuart sometimes you have to separate somebodys politics which you detest from their music and artistry. Sean penn, socialism, great director. Were done. Russia, sabrerattling. Two russian bombers intercepted by american jets off the coast of alaska on consecutive days. We have the story. The liberal media versus trump. Well tell you how Much Negative coverage was hurled at the administration. You are watching Varney Company. Stuart modest gain, 70 points higher. Were at 20,400. Thats where we are. Individual stocks making news. Card member spending up at American Express. Up 4 . A big gain there. Foot lockers chief says the easter selling period was strong. Nice gain for the stock, up 3. 6 . Verizon posted its firstever quarterly loss of wireless subscribers. Revenue and profit came in lower than expected. Down 2 1 2 . 48 on verizon. Now this. Secretary of state tillerson slams the iran nuclear deal. He calls it a failed approach. He says it is under review. General jerry boykin joins us, Family Research Council Executive vice president. General, Congress Says iran is compliant, it is observing the terms of the iran deal but the secretary of state says well look into it. We cant get out of it, can we . I hope we get out of it. Stuart, look, first of all everybody understands, this was a bad deal to begin with. You know, our politicians, our leadership at the political level is incapable of thinking and acting strategically in most cases and bill clinton kicked the can down the road, and brought us to where we are right now with north korea and were doing exactly the same thing with iran. Trying to kick the can down the road. Stuart we gave them everything they wanted up front. Whats point of getting out now . They have got everything they wanted, from the money to the recognition, to the free range across the middle east. They got what they wanted. What is the point of withdrawing now . It is never too late to do the right thing. We did the wrong thing when we entered into this agreement and then had the u. N. Sanction it, and u. N. Resolution 2231. It now is the time to do the right thing, stop it. Stop doing what were doing. Reimpose sanctions. Well never get europeans to follow our lead but we need to reimpose sanctions. We need to call them out on everything that theyre doing that is in fact in violation. Look, these missile tests are a violation of the jcpoa. You know, even the press secretary, sean spicer, has said so, speaking for the president. So it is the right time to do the right thing even though we made a bad decision. Stuart look, general, i dont want to argue with you, but if we try to reimpose sanctions, we would be going it alone. Nobody would join us, or would they . I cant see anybody, certainly not the europeans, russia, china. Theyre not going to join us in this. Well, you find out who your friends are, dont you, stuart . I think that, i go back to what i said. It is never the wrong time to do the right thing. I think that now what are we going do do . Were going to watch them build a Nuclear Weapon and be right where we are with north korea, a decade from now or less . In fact there is even evidence that theyre testing new centrifuges now that are so much better for enhancing uranium to the weaponsgrade level. What are we going to well sit back and watch this and hope some president ten years from now is able to deal with it . Not my grandchildren. That is generation stuart were stymied, arent we . Were stymied by a rotten agreement and given everything away up front. Before you leave us, sir, comment on russian to russian bombers intercepted by air force on coast of alaska, second time this happened. Are they probing us, prodding us . Well, that is what they were doing when they did that during the cold war. Remember these bears are cold war air frames. Now, i think that there is some tactical purpose for it. Theyre testing our response time, seeing where our radars are, that type of thing. I think it is more a matter of whistling past the graveyard frankly. Im not afraid of you. Stuart very interesting. General, thanks as always for joining us, sir, we do appreciate it. Thank you very much indeed. Glad to be with you. Stuart better check this out. Hollywood, we are told, has become reliant on chinas money, and Chinese People going to the movies in china. We need them both. So we hear, that is what hollywood needs. Look who is here. Michael tamaro, host of in the fox light. He is also fox news Senior Vice President of marketing. Who knew. Stuart nobody knew that. There is a title for you. Is that accurate, that hollywood now depends upon chinese money to produce the movies and chinese revenue from china . A lot of deals going on in china. Hollywood wants into the market, stuart. It is the Fastest Growing market around the world. Look at movie like warcraft an utter failure in the United States. Cost 115 million to make. Based on popular videogame. Grossed 435 million worldwide. Over 125 screens are built in china. Stuart doesnt that mean hollywood has to tailor the message to meet political demands of chinese audience. How you see it, when you see it will be affected by this. There are 10 rules going into china, adhere to certain standards. No ghosts. Too spiritual. Movies about time travel are frowned upon because applies individuals can affect change in history. Sex is grounded upon. Stuart would you therefore say, that some movies are not made because they wouldnt fly in china, is that possible . Absolutely. Some movies are remade to fit into china. Red dawn, 1980s, russians invaded north america and remade couple years ago where the north croons were the enemy. Stuart 8th in the series, fast furious. The latest one broke records worldwide. Was that because of the china market . It helped. Growing in, the force a awakens, held the record. This opened up in china, the fourth star wars movie did not. That movie really translates really well globally. Fast action, cars, stunts, and a diverse cast. Stuart this is just the times we live in. Youre not going to be able to do much about this. If you need that audience and need chinas capital to make movies, nothing you can do about it. No. Domestic market sort of stalled. Stuart has it . Or flatlined. Stuart netflix has taken over and amazon. So many options here. People have so many choices now. That is exactly it. Stuart demise of hollywood as we know it . Is it . Oh, wow. Bold thinking on your part. Stuart no, no, no. You know, never say that, but is it . Its a big challenge. Hollywood has dominated the movie making business since its inception over 100 years ago. China wants to challenge hollywood on the exact front by making their own movies. Theyre watching carefully how we tell stories, how movies are produced, from the lighting to the sets everything. They see it as a way of promoting chinese values and patriotism in their own country which is something stuart youre teaching them how to do that. Me alone. Stuart thank you very much for joining us. Senior vice president. A lot of bodies behind me. Stuart Senior Vice President of marketing, is that right . Correct. Stuart were honored to have the Senior Vice President on the set. Thank you very much. You want more advertising. Stuart yeah, you do. Michael, thank you, sir. Good stuff. What did you say . Liz nothing. Stuart stock alert. Look at the big tech names. We follow them very, very closely. Look at that. Facebooks up. Amazon is down. Microsoft, alphabet, apple, all of them on the upside. They have been going and going and going, im like a broken record here. Mcdonalds hitting an earlier alltime high. The stock by the way is up 9 this calendar year, 2017. We have this for you, the price of cigarettes in new york city may be going up significantly and ash will tell us. Ashley mayor bill de blasio has hess way, he wants it to go from 10. 50 a pack, unbelievable, full disclosure, i am reformed smoker, but 10 50, he wants to go to 13 a pack. I dont know how they work that, 900,000 smokers in new york city. I know that because i walk most of them between here around grand central. Really bad on the streets. Stuart they have all been exiled outside. Ashley wants big toke back coen my number one. Ban sales at pharmacies. I didnt know they sold cigarettes at pharmacies. Wants to reduce number of smokers in new york city by 160,000 in next three years. Stuart legal sales of cigarettes are not the problem. It is bootleg sales of cigarettes, bootleg cigarettes, come from some place elsewhere virtually no tax and make a profit. Ashley that will get worse, based on this. Stuart yes, it will. That will force more people into the illegal underground market for tobacco. That is what happens. I think we sorted that one out. Liberal media continues its assault on President Trump. Msnbc counterterrorism analyst tweets calling for isis to bomb a trump property in turkey. Can you believe that . Well believe it, because weve got the story. Back in a moment. Listen up, heart disease. you too, unnecessary er visits. And hey, unmanaged depression, dont get too comfortable. Were talking to you, cost inefficiencies and data without insights. And fragmented care stop getting in the way of patient recovery and pay attention. Every single one of you is on our list. For those who wont rest until the world is healthier, neither will we. Optum. How well gets done. Ashley big protests in venezuela. Three people dead. Here is what Michelle Malkin had to say about the silent left reaction. Roll tape. Here is Bernie Sanders who has criticized the American Economic system. I dont know if you remember this, stuart, but during the campaign he complained that our problems that we had too many choices on our store shelves. Do you remember this . He said there were 23 different kinds of deodorant and too many different kind of sneakers. This is the problem. Here in venezuela you have starving desperate people who cant get toilet paper for whom the daily struggle for subsistence is brutal and there is absolute silence in the halls of congress. Stuart look at this, Emirates Airlines. By the way theyre the Worlds Largest international carrier. Theyre cutting flights to america by 20 . Now, this is nothing, i dont believe this is primary about the travel ban proposed by President Trump. This is more about security. Spell it out, liz. Liz basically that devices issue. In other words the flights that were coming into the u. S. Is ban in laptops and personal electronics and carryon luggage. Stuart from middleeastern countries . Liz dropping from 126 to 101 flights from Emirates Airlines into the u. S. The devices problem is an issue. Stuart they have got people worried. Liz people are worried. Stuart people are worried about flying on planes from the middle east to america. They are not allowed to carry thee devices. What is happening in the background . Liz there are instances of terrorists trying to blow up planes with bombs hidden in devices. Conundrum, if you put devices in checked bag badge, that is an issue. Stuart people are worried. Far fewer people come. Emirates cut flights by 20 . That is the way it works. How about this. A new study, it says, 89 of press coverage, january january 20th, Inauguration Day and now, 89 is hostile. Brent bozell. Media research center. That is astonishing, brent. During the campaign it was 91 negative against trump, which is unheard of in the annals of modern politics. But during a campaign where there is some hardcharging stuff going on, the coverage is going to be a little bit, should be a little bit more negative on both sides but what is interesting here, it just simply continued t went from 91 to 89. It stayed the same. There was absolutely no honeymoon period for donald trump whatsoever. They have been on the attack since last year, at some point with donald trump, no signs of lefting up. This is not a press that has any interest in objective truth. This is a press that is committed, overwhelmingly, almost unanimously with the exception of fox, and fox business. I mean this, it is committed to the destruction of donald trump. Stuart oh. Would you compare what you found january 20th, to april 9th, what happened when president obama first took office. Was there a complete contrast between press coverage then and press coverage now . Sure. We didnt look at the numbers in the first 80 days of the obama presidency. Remember, it was an entire honeymoon. It was about this man going on international stage, about the great rallies he was having and how the world was loving him and america was loving him, and it was just overwhelmingly positive, in the way he was being treated. He was given a red carpet honeymoon. How about these numbers. You like this. If you look at the coverage, big stories, big stories that the media thought were interesting, were the muslim travel ban. It was the charges of, undocumented charges of collusion between the Trump Campaign and russia. And then the accusations that trump made about spying on him. In each case, the coverage was over 90 negative against donald trump. No attempt at balance. Now, what was the issue that donald trump wanted to talk about, President Trump wanted to talk about . His, his bailiwick, his, ground zero of his presidency is jobs and opportunity. Less than 1 coverage of it. Stuart just simply extraordinary. It really is. You and i talked for many, many years about this. I was always the one saying they will change. They will see the light. They cant go on like this forever. In fact it has gotten a whole lot worse. Before you go, i just need comment on one thing. There is msnbc counterterrorism analyst. He tweets, made, put out a tweet calling for isis to bomb a trump property in turkey. Here is the direct quote. This is my nominee for first isis suicide bombing of a trump property. Now, that was withdrawn, but it was stated. What is going to happen here . Yeah. Well, this is what tells you the venom. I cant give you better example, stuart. They despise this man, to the point they are writing, that they wish death upon him. Death and destruction on him. I dont know, you just cant get more negative than that. The fact that msnbc, that they wouldnt fire him immediately, what does that tell you about that network . Stuart it tells me not about the network. It tells me that the opposition to President Trump is personal. They detest him personally. It is emotional out put. It is not objection to the politics, objective reasoning about politics. It is personal. They hate him. I agree, 100 . Lets state this unequivocally. Their goal is to remove him from office. It is not to expose him. It is to remove him from office. Not going to happen. But that is the goal. Stuart very glad youre on it. Need the advice and analysis. Good stuff. Brent bozell. Thank you, sir. Big board shows a gain, nice gain. There we could, 20,485. It is thursday, april 20th. Up 80. Back in a moment. Think again. We are building new airports all across the state. Because the time to think about tomorrow is today. Stuart amazing, we have two days in a row where some of our viewers agree with some of the things that i have got to say. Maybe thats a record. Listen to this coming in from greg. Thanks again, stuart, for blasting congress. Americans have spoken but Congress Remains deaf. A deep and wide swamp on both sides of the aisle. Okay. Another one from ty. Mr. Varney, please keep putting the hammer down on the house and senate to get something done. Ive been campaigning here that congress should stay in session over the summer recess as long as it takes, get something done on health care, get something done on taxes. Liz just as soon teach a cat to bark as that happens. They never do. They ignore. Ashley they do. So frustrating. We talked about this yesterday. It gets more and more frustrating, were so close, were close to an agreement. Good, then stay there. Work through the night. Work through the summer, whatever it takes. Stuart but the other side of the coin is, we dont want them in washington making legislation and doing things because all they do is ashley necessary evil, stu. That is the way the system is. Theyre just not letting the system work because theyre not doing anything. Liz fancy talk of red lines. This is congresss red line, recess. That is their priority. That is what matters to them. Stuart well see how my campaign goes. So far no joy. Liz viewers are signing on. Stuart im glad some viewers are on my side. That is good stuff. Thank you, viewers, one and all. Well be back. Flonase helps block 6 key inflammatory substances that cause nasal congestion and itchy, watery eyes. For relief beyond the nose. Flonase. Stuart im old enough to remember a guy named mario in the early 1960s he introduced america to student activism. Student protest. He led the berkeley Free Speech Movement. Hard to believe that 50 years ago politics was largely banned from the berkeley campus. He demanded the freedom to speak on any subject. He won. Free speech won. How times have changed. So many students today are mortally offended by opinions they do not share, so they wont allow those opinions on campus. Berkeley had just banned a speech by conservative ann coulter. She was invited, and she accepted. But the college said it cannot guarantee her safety, and they couldnt guarantee that quote the event could be held successfully. Whatever that means. That is pathetic, it is a disgrace. And ms. Consulter is challenging the ban. Good. She says she will speak anyway. What will berkeley do . Arrest her or protect her . This is the perfect opportunity for berkeley to reverse course. Bring her in. Let her speak. Protect her from thuggery. Arrest, charge, and expel those students who try to stop her with violence, and then maybe restore free speech to the campus where the Free Speech Movement was born. The third hour of Varney Company is about to begin. Stuart i know im dating myself, but we begin the third hour with that fine boy band. The revolution, boys. Its going to be all right. Thats in the lyrics, by the way. Now lets get to your money. Check the big board. The Dow Jones Industrial average is up 86 points. Thats a little shy of 20,500. Come on in, all the way from sunny bermuda, john joins us now. A big smile on his face, the sun is shining. Okay. Do you think, john, that the market is beginning to accept that we might not get tax reform this year . Market accepts that . Yes. I think the market is starting to think that its pretty much a certainty compared to about a month or two ago where they thought it would be done by august and now youre seeing Steve Mnuchin say thats highly aggressive to not happen by august. And if it doesnt happen by this august recess, it probably doesnt happen until 2018. And then were in the midterm elections. Remember 1986, the last big Corporate Tax reform. It was years in the making. I think the only thing they can do is get some type of Corporate Tax package and worry about personal income rates later. Stuart yeah, that i think might very well happen. What surprises me is all of this talk about delay and narrowly focusing reform, and youve still got the dow holding at 20,500. Can you tell me whats holding it up . Yeah. I think you still have a perception of a businessfriendly administration. Remember the dow was flat from november 14 to President Trump was elected. Its up about 12 that this administration, that has not changed. I think youll see a lot of regulation reform. I think the market is looking at the market people have made a lot of pull back here, not necessarily a bad thing. Stuart now, do you expect a pull back . And i ask the question because beeve got a survey, 83 of Fund Managers surveyed by merrill lynch, 83 of them say stocks at the moment are overvalued. So that comes in your with your idea that were probably going to get a pull back; right . I think that is the most likely scenario. Im certainly not just adding a lot of stocks to my portfolio. I did buy some this morning. But im also not selling stocks right now. The worst thing in dc is not necessarily a stalled congress, you know . If you can just get these guys bickering among each other and leave the free markets alone, the markets usually do pretty well. You will help the market with Corporate Tax reform but the best option is that these guys stay out of the way. This august recess it would be better if it was 50 weeks, not five. Stuart well, thats the opposite of what ive been urging. Ive been urging congress to stay in session and get something done. Obviously you dont agree with that one. John, hold on a second. Would you just stay there for a minute . I have to bring us more news out of venezuela. Serious protests there that turned violent. A General Motors plant has been ceased by the dictator and his government. Liz, fill me in. Liz basically controls the judiciary, so any time theres protests, he and his cronies have done this. Sees u. S. Assets. Its a show of populism. Pepsi, mcdonalds, cocacola, delta, they all still have operations in venezuela. So theres deep concern mounting losses there, asset seizures, gm says its going to fight it. Its going to try to take them to court. It has been in the country for 70 years, it dominates the car market. Thousands of factory workers also the parts dealer and the dealership. Those sectors too getting hit hard right now about these actions. I cant imagine that they were selling many cars in venezuela with a situation like this anyway. And its not affected the stock, which is actually up 1 at 34. But, john, youve been listening to this. We dont expect it to affect General Motors stock or ford stock or anybody elses stock. Whats your general comment, though, on this socialist dictatorship turning into anarchy . Yeah. This chavez was a horrible human being, and hes dead now and doesnt have to face the repercussions that happened to his country, same with castro and stalin did to russia. They have some income disparities as well. But socialism has never worked. Stuart thank you very much indeed, john. Im a refugee from socialism, and im here to tell you youre right. But, look, moments ago, you said you had been buying some stocks this morning. Would you tell us what you bought . Sure. I bought blackstone and maybe because of steve schwartzman. When times in uncertainty, you want guys who are good at being able to diversify. Blackstone has a 6. 4 yield. I bought a decent position in it this morning in it. Stuart 6. 4 yield, if i buy it at 30 bucks a share, they pay me 6. 4 . Thats right. Its an incredible yield and you cant get that anywhere else in the world right now. Stuart on the screen i have two more stocks which i think you bought today. Mc and ford. What do they do . Kim, the great banker that built out the u. S. Banking infrastructure. Has his own shop. Its kind of a boutique shop, he pays a 4. 1 yield. Deals and acquisition mergers. This is basically a bet on ken. The other stock is ford, a 5. 4 yield. I love elon musk but elon musk himself said if you want to buy a car company, buy gm or ford because tesla is probably a little overvalued right now. Ford is undervalued. Its like theyre going bankrupt. Its incredible yield right now. Still a great company. And the only company that didnt take government money. A true american company. Stuart im just fascinating by 6. 4 yield on blackstone. Thats a handsome yield for a very strong company. John with were out of time. Back to the beach for you. Thank you for joining us, sir. Thank you. Im interrupting that because i have breaking news. President trump to meet another world leader next month. This is a surprise . Ashley it is. Turkish president , may 16th, 17th around the time that President Trump is going to the Nato Alliance meeting in brussels in may, and he will meet with the turkish president , who, by the way, he congratulated trump trump congratulated afterward very controversial referendum giving much greater powers, which was a lot of people questioned it, but he spoke to him by phone. Stuart thats interesting that he is now considered a oneman rule in turkey sending it back. But the president s going to meet with him. Liz an influx of refugees; right . Stuart correct. Well said. Individual stocks making news. Lets bring you this one. American express. We american card members, we are spending more money on our amex cards, and thats really producing a nice 4 gain for amex at 78. Foot locker. They see lower profits down the road, they said that. But the stocks moving higher. It was in the red earlier. I think one of the top executives came out with a statement of some sort, and that turned the stock around. Foot lock ther at 75. He said the easter season was good. Thats what he said. Verizon. First ever quarterly loss of subscribers, and they say revenue and profit was down as well. Not good. Down 1. 5 on verizon. Back to my editorial at the top of the hour. We call it my take. Free speech denied. Berkeley, the home of the Free Speech Movement says no to conservative ann coulter. The college has called it off. It is a safety issue, they say. She says im speaking anyway. What are the authorities going to do . Arrest her or protect her . Listen to this. They kept piling on requirements, you cant speak in the evening, you have to speak in the daytime when kids are in classes. Were not sure which room youre going to use. We dont tell you until the last minute. E to exclude everyoe except students and although the groups kept intermediaries kept encouraging me saying they never do this to liberals. I kept saying nope. Ill do it. Okay. Okay. Whoa, this thing is crazy. I just had to push one button to join. Its like im in the office with you, even though im here. Its almost like the Virtual Reality of business communications. No, its reality. Intuitive one touch Video Conferencing is a reality. And now its included at no additional cost with vonage business. Call now and see why 3,000 companies a month are switching to vonage. Business grade. People friendly. Stuart his honor, the mayor of new york city, bill de blasio wants to make cigarettes, take the price up to 13 a pack. Currently its 10. 50. Meanwhile today is april 20th, 4 20. The unofficial marijuana holiday. And, by the way, more and more places in america are legalizing marijuana. Joining us now, Fox News Contributor and former senator scott brown. Scott, i see a contradiction here. Were running tobacco out of time, and were welcoming marijuana. Whats going on . Oh, man, its unbelievable. The fact that you nailed it. The fact that were actually kind of putting marijuana up on a pedestal and actually demonizing tobacco, this is typical of what new york city, this mayor and the prior mayor are doing. What it does is it hurts people that are less well off and really cant afford to smoke or drink pop or soda and other types of things that are socalled vices. But what it also does, i dont know if it helps, theres a tremendous black market, number one, via getting no revenue, and number two, they can go to surrounding states and get it much cheaper. Stuart bootleg cigarettes. You buy them some place the tax are low, you bring them in here and sell at a nice profit and there you go. Yep. Stuart we have a contradiction. Lets move on from there. I have to talk to you about ann coulters speech canceled at berkeley. She says, however, coulter says shes going anyway. Roll tape. They kept piling on requirements, you cant speak in the evening, you have to speak in the daytime when kids are in classes within we cant tell you what room youre going to use, well tell you at the last minute, we have to exclude everyone except students and yet the intermediaries kept encouraging me to say they never do this to liberals. I said nope. Ill do it. Okay. Okay. And i am giving the speech. I dont know what are they going to do . Arrest me . Stuart well, thats a good question, scott. What are they going to do . I think this is crunch time for free speech because they could arrest her, but they could also do their job and protect her. I think todays a crucial time. Stuart, you and i agree on almost everything, and i agree with you on this as well. You have a situation, and i remember back when i was much younger that berkeley was the haven, the birthplace of free speech. And now it seems like its the place that you absolutely dont ever want to go if you have an opposing view, whether youre conservative, whether youre pro military, whether youre a capitalist. I mean, just dont even bother stepping on campus. So im hopeful they will do the right thing and recognize history in their aaffirmative obligation for the safety and security for everybody whos on campus whether invited or not. Stuart i do find it incredible that 50 years ago the Free Speech Movement was launched at berkeley and now weve turn full circle. Youre from massachusetts. You get your fair share of this problem, dont you . When i lived in massachusetts, absolutely. I battled with harvard over the roc program, the fact that they barred it. They did the kind of halfbaked kind of approach. Oh, were going to allow it, but they really dont. So, yeah, weve had our conflicts. But the one thing ive always enjoyed about massachusetts and new england in particular, especially a lot of the colleges, is that they may disagree with you, but you can at least go on campus and have the if knowledge that youre going to walk out of there safely, and youre going to get your views approached and have this vigorous, vibrant amazingly intellectual conversation about our opposing views. I find that very stimulating, very similar to the conversations you and i have participated in. Lets go. Lets have that conversation, lets what education and america is all about, stuart,. Stuart yeah, exactly. Thats what a university is for. The clash of opinions in a civilized debate with organized rules. Get on with it and figure it out. Lets go. Lets go. Stuart a relic of history, scott. Thats what we are. Well, speaking for myself. Not for you. Scott, it was great. Next time we see you, would you please read and review elizabeth warrens new book. Okay . Just a little homework for you. Thanks. You go first. Stuart scott brown, everybody. Hes all right. Thank you very much, sir. Interesting story about Neiman Marcus. Would you believe they are borrowing money so that they can make Interest Payments on their other debt . Ashley borrowing from peter to pay paul, as they used to say. Issuing debt to pay off the Interest Payments on their debt. They dont want to burn through their cash. Look, they were bought out in 2013. They have been is a littled with nearly 5 billion of longterm debt, and theyre trying to turn around, exploring all options, including a possible sale. There are still analysts out there that say hang in there. This is a good brand. It has stores here in new york city. They can turn it around. But the debt is really starting to crush them. Stuart amazon calling. Ashley yes, hello. Ice age. Stuart the Honda Motor Company announcing an investment in america. Lizzie, are they trying to make themselves look good in front of President Trump . Liz thats a good question. 124million. Stuart thats not much. Liz its a wind tunnel facility. Stuart all right. Liz okay. Stuart no. No. No. Look, car companies, Manufacturing Companies in general go out of their way to say were bringing money into america. Look what were doing. Jobs in america. Mr. Trump, President Trump, take notice. Okay. Honda. 124million for a wind tunnel is okay. Not going to turn it down. Liz yeah, for fuel efficiency cars. You wont tear it down. Stuart you know what i mean . You with me odds . Liz yes, i am. Stuart scott brown agrees with everything i say. Ashley i heard that. Stuart i think you should too. Liz okay. Stuart listen to this. 162 Technology Companies are taking on President Trumps attempted travel ban. They say this ban hinders their operations. The companys on your screen. Plus, the likes of uber, spacex, spotify, twitter, theyre also in on this objection. Details in a moment. Can i get some help. Watch his head. Im so happy. Whatever they went through, they went through together. Welcome guys. Life well planned. See what a Raymond James Financial Advisor can do for you. Stuart all right. 85 points higher now. Were at almost 20,500. But look at this. We have the latest read on Mortgage Rates and what is it, liz . Liz 3. 97. Its the low of the year. Stuart 3. 97 . Liz yeah, and its trending down the last five weeks. We thought Mortgage Rates were going to go up. But, no, the treasury yields going down, Mortgage Rates going down but Mortgage Applications dipping below last year. Ashley because theres a lack of homes on the market. The inventorys really low, prices have gone up and a lot of people cant afford to buy a house right now, even though you have these low rates, as you said. Under 4 . Stuart okay. 3. 97. Ashley yeah, very low. Stuart weve got amazon, google, facebook, snap, theyre all among a total of 162 Technology Companies that are taking on the president s proposed travel ban. What else have we got on this . Liz yeah, uber, twitter, were going to show the names that second. Big Silicon Valley companies, 160 companies. They dont like the travel ban for the half a dozen terror hot spots so why now . Why are they fighting this now . Well, the president signed a new executive order saying were going to restrict those h1b visas and how theyre awarded. We dont like Foreign Workers getting u. S. Jobs. Its a retaliation for that. Stuart i see. All of these big names, these are the ones it who object to the travel ban, and you think its because the Technology Companies have been restricted with these h1b visas skilled workers from coming into the country. So President Trump wants to restrict h1b visas and maybe in rely re tauiation saying, well, we dont like your travel ban. Liz because the Tech Companies have proven how it has hurt their bottom line. Yes, we did panel on the bottom of the screen there. So Many Companies on the list, we couldnt run them all in the time. By the way, judge napolitano will weigh in on this in just a moment. Were also getting to take on the cia launching an allout manhunt to find the person leaking documents, wikileaks. There he is. Hes on his way. There he comes. Stuart there you have it. The collapse of venezuela. Now it has a socialist dictatorship and falling into anarchy, as you can see. Wall street journal dan is here. These are our neighbors. Its a social dictatorship fighting the blood on the streets. What should we do . America. America, i think just may, in fact, be doing something. But quietly and behind the scenes. Theres a number of dominates here, stuart, that have been very promising. Mexico has denounced what is going on in venezuela and calling to restore democratic order. This is extraordinarily unusual. Almost unprecedented, really because mexico never really interferes in other countries down there. Mexico has been joined by canada and at least 18 other countries. The director of the organization of american states lisa made a very strong statement against the oa very hardly gets involved in situations like this. So pressure is building diplomatically, and i wouldnt be surprised if some of this was being driven behind the scenes by the National Security agency of the United States. Stuart oh, really . Our intelligence people are doing this. They would have they know that something is going on down there. Now, what the Trump Administration really could do would be appoint assistant secretary of state for western hemisphere affairs. That job is still open. Stuart what youre saying is the diplomacy added up and the sufficient pressure to make a difference. Im not so sure youre right. Hes going to stay there as long as he possibly can. Hes arming his thugs on the street. Surely, we should be looking at the army. You have a possibility of a bloodbath, but i dont really see the United States getting to that point where they would involve military intervention. The first thing theyre going to see is whether mexico, brazil, chile, the rest of the countries down there can bring pressure to bear on venezuela. Theyre hanging by a thread. The country has no money, people are starving, thats why you have these demonstrations, they have no money to buy imports anymore. So theyre financially, completely cut off. Theyre at the brink, and i think if the United States at some point got publicly involved to start pushing, it would be very difficult i think the government to survive. Stuart i dont know whether im allowed to proposal Something Like this or even suggest it, but im going to anyway. Dont we have a cia that can have a quiet word with venezuela generals and tell them dont shoot your own people. Heres a passport. You can come to america. But get rid of him. Can we do Something Like that . Weve done Something Like that in the past. It doesnt always work very well when we overthrow somebody like that. But this situation has gotten to the point starvation in the streets in venezuela, the suppression of opposition, lack of true democracy, that possibly even the people of venezuela themselves would be willing to open to any kind of intervention. Stuart it really is destabilizing the whole region. Theyre feeding terrorism, theyre giving passports to syrians and iranians to come over here. Its a financially important in the region. Look, General Motors Just Announced that theyre pulling operations out of venezuela. Venezuela has already taken gm down there and gm is saying we will have nothing more to do with this country. The plug is being pulled. Stuart i think crunch time has arrived. Yeah. Stuart crisis time is here. Its now. Liz a good point. Canada has oil reserves too. But canada to dans point has a diversified capitalist model and venezuela took everything stuart thats very true. Youre all right. Thanks for joining us on thursday morning. Keep an eye on it. Stuart we will. I think theres going to be headlines out of venezuela. Yeah. I do too. Stuart now this. The cia. I was just talking about them. The cia is launching a manhunt to find the mole who is leaking documents to wikileaks. Judge napolitano is here. What do you know about leaking . It probably is more the fbi with the assistance of the cia. I mean, this is certainly someone who had access to these materials, so its a finite and relatively small universe of people who could have done this. So the fbi would be seeking guidance from the cia as to who are the people likely to do this. The fbi has actually arrested a couple of people in the past year who have secreted things in their homes. They havent released it to anyone, but theyve taken top secret material, put them in their homes, we dont know why. There was no harm. But still, the crime was committed. So mike pompeo, who is the former kansas congressman and now director of the cia did the very, very unusual thing of getting on National Television and personally politically and aggressively blasting Julian Assange and wikileaks, arguing theyre not a serious journalistic organization. If they are journalist and the definition is very low, then they can release with impunity just as we could anything that they obtain. If the thief of a top secret document comes to fox because were journalists, we can discuss it and release it. If the thief of a top secret document comes to wikileaks, and they are journalists, they can release it. The thief is still committed the crime. So director pompeo wants to find the thief. Its probably somebody that works or worked for him. Stuart well, this would who whomsoever releases the information is not doing it for espionage reasons. For money or right. They either want to embarrass the cia and the entire Intelligence Community or force it to reform itself and move away from some things that have been suspected for years and quite frankly, are rather rudimentary. Stuart were on the verge of disagreeing, judge, so im going to change the subject. All right. What are we going to disagree about . Stuart oh, the nsa, but thats another story. Judge, here is the other story. A whole bunch of Technology Companies, amazon, google, facebook, snap, twitter, 162 of them. Yes. Stuart they object in court to President Trumps attempted travel ban. They say it hurts our operations. Do they have a company does a company have standing in court on a International Issue of this kind . Okay. So they have filed a brief with the United States court of appeals for the third circuit. Hearing an appeal from a trial judge in virginia. The trial judge in invalidated the travel ban. The government appealed it to the Circuit Court of appeals. 162 companies have said to the Circuit Court of appeals let us join as friends of the urt. Not as lilt nts but frie of the court. Just read our brief. We represent the most sophisticated highTech Companies in the country. You know how much time judges give to friend of the court briefs . About enough time to just look at the title page and file the document. Stuart oh, really . So i really dont think this is going to put a finger on the scale. Now, if they joined as litigants and if the case were tried and if apple and google and everybody else on this list, e mac went through the list earlier, 162 companies there, started presenting evidence in court, its a changed ball game. Stuart may i suggest a reason why 162 companies are doing that . Whats the reason . Stuart President Trump wants to crack down on h1b visas. Yes. Stuart Technology Companies want these visas. The brief basically says you are restricting the menu, the universe of hightech talent available to us. Stuart thats it. Thats the reason. Theres really nothing wrong with that argument. It conflicts with the Constitutional Authority of the president of the United States to run foreign policy. Stuart okay. Just stick around for a second. Sure. Stuart because im going to read the lyrics from bruce spring stings latest protest. Are you going to sing them . Stuart listen to this. Dont tell me a lie and sell it as a fact. Ive been down that road before, and i aint going back. Later, he sings and dont you brag to me that you never read a book. I knew put my faith in a conman and his crooks. Who or what is this about . Stuart thats bruce springsting. About the president of the United States . Stuart about the president of the United States. Is that right, ashley . Ashley it is. Released today. He was born to whine. Not run. Very good. Ashley lo, hes going on about the president who appealed to the working class men and women of this country who were fed up of what was going on in washington and the establishment and apparently bruce springsting, the catcher is going after the very person that his crowd has supported to become president. So its ironic on that level but also as we said earlier, just shut up and sing. Stuart that was the title of a book, wasnt it . Or a speech . Ashley yeah. Stuart anyway, he had that song my hometown. Liz should note that obama gave him the medal of freedom. Stuart oh, i should note that. Liz i know we dont have to. The governor of new jersey, i cant imagine would agree with these lyrics. Stuart what are you going to say . I havent listened to bruce springsting since his first two albums. The best thing he ever did and then it was all downhill. Dan, i love you. Still packs metlife stadium. Still gets 85,000 these are old songs. Stuart the talent, and hes got talent like sean penns got talent and their politics. Liz do we really want entertainers talking about politics all the time . Ashley i dont care. Stuart but youre not going to stop them, are you . Liz good point. Stuart next case. First amendment. [laughter]. Stuart that constitutional thing again. Why do i need a constitution in my way . Stuart listen to this President Trump will meet with the pope next month. Got more on that in a moment. The meeting is on. Super bowl champions new England Patriots honored at the white house. But heres the moment when rob gronk crashed sean spicers news conference. Watch this. Well see what pans out in negotiation. But i think theres an opportunity that need some help . [laughter] i think i got this but thank you. You sure . Maybe. Ill let you do it. All right. And guess what . It is cutting its flights to the United States by about 20 . In part, this is because of President Trumps proposed travel ban. In large part, its because you cant get on a plane from some countries and come to america with an electronic gadget in the passenger cabin. I think thats the main objection. Thats why the number of paying passengers are down, and thats why ashley fear of what could result from that. You put something out like that, youre going to see a drop in demand, and thats what theyve seen. Stuart i dont deny that the travel ban and the proposed visa changes has had an impact on the number of people coming from predominantly muslim countries. Ashley yeah,. Stuart i think those people are worried about getting on a plane because of the ban on Electronic Devices. Liz theyve seen logical airplanes brought down by bombs and devices. So thats been happening in the middle east. And, again, we talked about a pan am flight 103 1983 was brought down. Stuart that was by a device on plane. Liz yeah. Stuart a lot of people thinking about that. Thank you, everybody. How about this . Earth day. Guess when it is . Tell you now. It is saturday. The greenies favorite day of the year. Here is john stossel. Youre not a Global Warming greeny kind of guy. Hey, i ride my bike here. Do you . Stuart no, i live in new jersey. Do you want me to take my bike through the tingle tunnel . What are you going to do on earth day . Im going to celebrate achievement day and im going to take a hot shower, im going to drive a car, im going to appreciate what machines and fossil fuels do for us. Stuart john stossel. I think i almost called you john fossil. At least once. Stuart so dont you believe the planet is in danger and your activity like taking a hot shower and driving a car, youre killing the planet. Dont you realize that, stossel . Look, its possible that of 117 climate models from the 90s, 114 have overpredicted the warming. Stuart i didnt know that. So this is thin science. But, look, we are adding Carbon Dioxide to the air. There are good scientists who say this may build to the point where its a real crisis. But so far, it has made life better. Fewer people die in weatherrelated incidents because warming kills fewer people than cold. And the idea that theres anything we can do now or that all of this stuff that obama was trying to push through that trump is repealing, that would have made any difference. Even the proponents admit it would have made only a fraction of a percent difference in Carbon Dioxide and probably no affect on the actual climate. Stuart its become a religion. Its a passionate religious belief on the part of the greenies that the earth is coming to an end, and we must save it. Because i feel good riding my bike and all of these people look at me. Oh, thats stossel. Hes not so evil after all. But it is meaningless and a lot of recycling causes more Carbon Dioxide to be burned because they have to ship it so far to get to the plant. Stuart i remember the first earth day. I think it was 1970. They buried a car in california. Fossilized, let me tell you. But they it. They buried a car in california. That was earth day, day one. I think it was 1970. Im glad to hear that youre celebrating human achievement day on saturday. Fossil fuels allow poor people to make their lives better, and they deserve that opportunity. Stuart i would invite you to my farm where im having a giant bonfire. [laughter] stop laughing. What are you going to burn . Stuart tree trunks. Lots of them. Thank you, john. Are you going to come again . I sure am. Stuart thank you, john stossel. Good to see you. Lets talk about legalizing drugs next time. Stuart dangerous ground there. Thanks. Now this President Trump will meet with pope francis in italy during the g7 summit. Its coming up soon. Liz yeah, remember the Financial Times a week ago said, no, theres not going to be a meeting. Turns out they are working on a meeting with the pope when he travels for the g7. You know, it should be pointed out that the border wall was a fight, a big sticking point. The pope doesnt like the border wall. Made negative comments about President Trump. But they do agree on certain issues about persecution and the christians in the middle east and what is going on in syria and other issues as well. So it looks like that meeting will be on in may. Stuart okay. Thats in may coming up very soon, actually. A couple of weeks. Liz thats correct. Stuart all right. Look at this. The dow industrials are now up 131 points. Weve had some volatility recently, but now were up 20,535. I wonder whats propelling this market higher . Well discuss it in a moment you know who likes to be in control . This guy. Check it out selfappendectomy oh, thats really attached. Thats why i rent from national. Where i get the control to choose any car in the aisle i want, not some car they choose for me. Stuart President Trump wants to change americas immigration policy to a more meritbased system. Instead of a lottery, youre drawing lots who comes in. No. President trump wants meritbased immigration, admission into the country. Listen to this. Australia is now going to propose a values test for people coming into the country.
