22 years after our nation was attacked today. These are your top stories at 6 00 a. M. Eastern time. Well, we are beginning the first full trading week of september, taking a look at futures, the dow is up by 74, nasdaq up 84, s p up by 17. This ahead of a big week of Economic Data where investors get a read on inflation, ppi and rel tail sales come out thursday. Take a look at european markets. As you can see, youve gone green across the board. Over to your asian markets as you can see we do s. Lahave a mixedstory there. Meanwhile, President Biden delivering a rambling speech in theet vietnam while talking about economic priorities with china as the house readies a slew of investigations when they return from recess tomorrow. Then, 22 years later, we reflect back on what we have seen since september 11th, 2001 after the worst terror attack on american soil. Were going to tell you the stories and were going to honor those that we lost all morning long. And joining the conversation all morning long, we have got Strategic Wealth partners ceo, mark tepper and columnist and fox news contributor, liz peek, mornings with maria a is live right now. And stand up next to you and defend her still today. Because there aint no doubt i love this land. God bless the usa. Cheryl time for the hot topic of the hour p. Today marks 22 years since the september 11th terror attacks. President biden currently flying back to the u. S. From vietnam. He will commemorate the 9 11 attacks in alaska from a military base in anchorage, from the afternoon. He will be skipping out on all of ceremonies at the attack site. This is a day where americans, new yorkers, people around the world remember the horrific thing that happened in the city and President Biden is notably absent today. Theres been criticism that began last week of the fact that hes going to be in alaska this afternoon and Vice President kamala hairless a harris, not a good slip. Vice president harris will be downtown today with the families, your reaction. My reaction is that President Biden does not dare come to new york city. Right now, we have a migrant crisis entirely of his making. Even democrat politicians that run our city are absolutely up in arms. Theyve gone to the white house. They begged for help. Taxpayers in new york are already crushed by high taxes. Its making our city less liveable, less safe and much more expense itch, cheryl. So expensive, cheryl. When i saw this last week i wrote a piece about it that basically this is just hiding out on september 11th and its an embarrassment. I think we all still regard this day even 22 years in as one of the most horrific occasions of our lifetimes and of this country, biggest attack ever on u. S. Soil, 3,000 dead. And where is this president . Hes not leading. He is hiding. Cheryl hes had a little bit of a rough go of it at the g20, mark, were going to get to that in a moment. There were some strange moments. I have to say, im reminded that two years ago was the chaotic withdrawal out of afghanistan and the disrespect and absolute mess that created the deaths of 13 service members, not to mention everything that happened during the wars in iraq and afghan stan. Hes not afghanistan. Hes not had a solid strategy for game plan on any major issue weve faced since he took office and i agree with lizs statement. Him being in alaska right now, this was not by accident. This was designed. This is again is that hiding biden in the basement strategy that the rolled out in 2019 and 2020. Look, the interesting thing is, kamala is in new york today and that kind of it reminds me of what happened over the last few weeks, as it seems that the Democrat Party is now turning its back on joe biden. It seems like even the liberal media is beginning to turn their backs on joe biden. And thats why you had kamala a week or two ago, shes going around saying i can step in if need be. Nonow shes the one in the place where the v president should be today. Cheryl im going to say this, he didnt have to stop in vietnam, he could have left the g20 and been back in time to honor those that fell, the fallen of 9 11. But the president did make some really bizarre comments during this press conference when he was in vietnam. He had staffers eventually they had to cut him off midsentence. Watch what happened. One of my staff members, remember the famous song, good morning, vietnam. Well, got evening, vietnam. My brother loves having famous lines of movies, he always quotes. One is theres a movie about john wayne, hes an indian scout. The indian looks at john wayne and points, says hes a lying dog faced pony soldier. Well, theres a lot of lying dog faced pony soldiers out there about global warming, but not anymore. Im just following my orders here. Staffers, anybody i havent spoken to . I dont know about you but im going to go to bed. Good night. That e that ends the press conference. Cheryl he got confused. They have to give him the list that the reporters are, when theyre going to speak to him. As he responds, once again he is telling us that hes taking orders from someone else. You know, hes doing nothing o dispel the perception that someone else is running the show and hes a puppet. By the way, the people running the show are not doing a very good job. I was stunned by the fact that he hadnt run through the names. He stumbled over every single one. They were complicated names. You know what you do before the president goes out there, you say here is who the names are, practice saying them so you dont look like an idiot when you get out there. I really thought the entire g20 and everything, he just constantly was caught looking confused, not knowing where to go, i thought the whole thing was an embarrassment. He is an embarrassment. I think hes also a risk to this country. Cheryl were going to talk about it. Many senate democrats, speaking of course off the record, have talked about their concerns about this president as we move into 2024. Yeah. Thats becoming more and more of a problem. Really the only tool he has in his tool kit right now is to try to tell some sort of a relateable story and he doesnt have any relateable stories. He makes them up. A kitchen fire when hes in maui. Thank goodness is not in new york. He would probably tell a an off color story about him being on an airplane. He cant relate to the American People. He continues to try that tactic but its not working. Cheryl well, weve got a lot to discuss this morning. A lot happened over the weekend. Of course, today is a historic day as well in our nation. Coming up, the house is returning from their long recess tomorrow. They are preparing several investigations into the biden family business. Wisconsin congressman, House Judiciary Committee member Scott Fitzgerald will be here next with his priorities before the goff runs out of monday on october 1st. Then, we are marking 22 years since 9 11, the worst terror attack on american soil. The stories and remembrances all morning long. Do not miss a moment of it. You are watching mornings with maria live on fox business. Stars in my eyes. Im in love with her. And i wont apologize. Liberty mutual customized my Car Insurance and i saved hundreds. Cheryl a new report finding that President Bidens allies say his inability to say no to hunter is causing problems. The New York Times is reporting that people close to the president are saying his loyalty to his son including, quote, inviting him to state dippers, flying with him aboard dinners, flying with him aboard marine one and standing on the balcony with him have resulted in distractions. He plunged in staid sadness and frustration and his conversations has been contitingedwith resic says. Resignation. Joining us now, congressman Scott Fitzgerald. Great to see you. As you get prepared to go back to work, its all about the investigations that continue thanks to your colleague, congressman comer. Yeah. Were very eager. Most of us that are on Judiciary Committee have been working with congressman jordan to kind of move through this process and then also congressman jordan as a member of the Oversight Committee has been kind of keeping us in the loop on that as well. Probably the biggest news this week is that judiciary is also opening an investigation into jack smith. I mean, his ties to the department of justice are so close that many of us have been wondering for a couple months now why was he ever put in that place to begin with. So it all kind of feeds into the narrative of oversight and judiciary are now right kind of at the brink of i think bringing even more information forward. That will convince not only members of congress but i think the public that clearly what has been rumored in the past has actually been verified. Cheryl and i want to make sure that our viewers know, jack weiss, who is the special counsel sel for the hunter biden investigation, he was also the one leading the negotiations with hunters legal team and giving him the sweetheart plea deal that blew up in front of a judge who had the with war all to see it wherewithal to see it was ridiculous and she couldnt sign off on the plea deal for hunter biden and he will probably be hit with the gun charge at the end of this month. A recent cnn poll is finding 61 of americans believe that then Vice President joe biden had some involvement in his son hunters business dealings in ukraine and china and 38 say, well, he had no involvement but that same poll told thaws 55 of americans say the president has been inappropriate in this investigation into the taxes, maybe acting on behalf of his son, congress maven. Your reaction . Congressman . Your reaction . Yeah, what he was saying directly into the mics during the campaign of 2020 and then since then, every time hes been asked directly by a reporter and once again goes back to the idea of please dont ask me that question and if you do, im simply once again going to stick with my original answer. Its absolutely been debunked. Both congressman comer and congressman jordan i think have unearthed enough evidence right now that everyone in congress and those on the other side of the aisle are having a more and more difficult time defending had idea that joe biden and his entire family wasnt aware of what was going on. Cheryl right. Right, liz peek is on set with me. Shes got a question for you. Good morning, congressman. I think your committee should feel very good about the fact that polling now shows that the American People are aware of what went on and they basically do conclude that joe biden was involved. I do think also you should read that New York Times article as suggesting the same thing. The New York Times is basically saying, well, yes, this may have happened but it was only because joe biden was so good to his son and all these embarrassments are because hes so generous and loyal. No, hes turning a negative into a positive. I think thats an indication that democrats are really concerned about these allegations of corruption. These are hitting home. So i really dont have a question for you. I applaud what youre doing. I think you need to stay the course, being careful and just following the money and following the evidence because it is working. People are learning the story even though all these news organizations like the New York Times absolutely have refused to report on this story. So congratulations. Yeah. And this is what Speaker Mccarthy has been trying to kind of outline for us since february, which is lets make sure that this isnt some type of political impeachment process and thats why i think what youre going to see in september here is certainly i think more members of Congress Calling for the move towards that. Lets give those members of the committees the tools they need to kind of dig a little bit deeper and the inquiry process presents that. So i think were on the right course. I think the speakers doing a good job with it. I think well be there soon. I know weve got constituents and some people back home wringing their hands saying a why arent you moving quicker, why arent you doing this faster . Theres a reason for that. I think we made the case that this is the right approach. Cheryl before you go, not a lot of time here but tomorrow you come back to work, house law make aers are returning to the hill, obviously a budget fight is happening, these investigations. Whats your number one priority tomorrow . We want to get the 12 Appropriations Bills through the process and i think that there are many members of congress that are saying we want a an open process with amendments. I think were going to stay the course and see if we can get there by the end of the month. Cheryl thank you for being here today. We appreciate it. Thank you, cheryl. Cheryl congressman Scott Fitzgerald. We have a lot more come upping this morning. Hurricane lee strengthening to a category 3 storm as it churns up the eastern seaboard. Its not just possible. Its happening. Cheryl taking a look at futures on your monday, we do have green arrows, dow is up by 50 s p up by 14 and change. We have a big week of inflation data coming up. The Consumer Price index comes out wednesday at 8 30. Producer price index, retail sales, 8 30 thursday. Joining me tj edmonds Institutional Services director, james oryo. Lets talk about what im going to call cpi week. This will be a tricky report in my opinion because of the energy story. We saw food inflation start to creep into the report last month. An uptick which was a bit of a surprise. Now youve got the oil price story on top of that. So the oil price story is double edged in my opinion. I believe its easy and its definitely inflationary, its an input cost and hark ownsens baco the 70s. We still import 50 of our oil. Its hitting people at the pump. It serves as a tax to pull liquidity out of the system that may break up demand. Im saying its still inflationary. I think its less inflationary medium term. What youre saying about the cpi, were expecting an uptick. Some of that is based on the base effect and some based on the fact that crude jumped in august. Whats more important to look at is the core cpi was expected at 4. 3 versus 4. 7 last time. I think below that will give a little bit of a green light for the stocks going higher. Cheryl im going to bring in mark tepper into this. Were looking at oil prices and we are a little bit lower today but were still at 86 bucks and change on crude and this is the second highest level this year that we hit even on friday, mark tepper, jump into this. When you look at the data out there, all the data, jim, is pointing towards a reacceleration in inflation. You mentioned 3. 6 . The cleveland feds at 3. 8 . The atlanta fed, 12 months from today has sticky inflation at 5 andahalf, the Conference Board a year from today has it at 5. 8. As we look around and survey the scene, what we are seeing is one heck of a reacceleration in inflation. The market is still pricing in three to four rate cuts next year. How would that be possible . Okay. So the one thing thats not pointing to continued inflation that some people think is, ill give you that most of them are, is the wage picture. We saw the numbers, those were bad labor day take numbers and labor data numbers. There were headlines about unions negligence other t negotg contracts. We heard the wages might be stabilizing. I think if oil trades above 88 and a quarter bucks a barrel in the futures i think were heading back to 100. We used our dry powder selling out the sbr when we didnt need to and the people we angered by doing that, they reaffirmed production cuts, i think theyre going to put the screws to us and try to drive that back up to 100 which isnt that far from now. Cheryl what about your Investment Strategy for this month and the rest of the year . Folks are coming back from the summer, theyre back from the summer. Theyre looking at portfolios, trying to make adjustments, buy some things, sell some things. What do you tell them . Heres what i think. I think the stock market is fine. Everybody expects the big collapse when were coming into the recession. The recession could be okay for the stocks. Weve been trading side ways for two years. I like to look at tech. A lot of people think technical is some sort of voodoo. Its not. It explains what the broad markets opinion is. If we get the s p back above 40, 50, after the cpi data, we cant do anything until we have a clearer picture on inflation but if we can get that above 45, 50, i think were fine for the rest of the year. Im staying long and increasing longs if that happens. Cheryl is there a sector play in that, then . Sure. Guess what sector play is . It has been six months for me. Its oil. Cheryl all right. Because its absurd. Our Energy Policy has been ridiculous. It seems to drive the price higher so im long on that. Cheryl when the president decides to destroy seven leases in alaska and sanction off land and make sure the saudis and russians are completely responsible for our oil needs here in the country, i guess youre right. Lets play that. [laughter] its the most ridiculous policy. The same week they talked about denying access to credit markets for Oil Companies and asked them why they were cutting production. Its so bipolar, their policies. Cheryl liz peek is on set, shes got a question for you. China released inflation data this morning that drove stocks in europe a little bit higher because it was better than expected in the sense that inflation was higher, it wasnt deflationary, it was inflationary. Do you have any response to that . I do. I think thats good news. I dont necessarily hang my hat on a lot of what china releases. Because im starting to not hang my hat on a lot of data the u. S. Releases. I think theres been some corrupted processes there, certainly in china too. We believe china was having a very difficult time. We want to start believing that most of that is over. If its true, well see today if copper and crude can rally, that could mean the market believes that the numbers out of china probably are becoming less dire, that situation. Cheryl the economy in china is so much worse than what they are reporting and i have a feeling theres a lot of a lot of discontent underneath xi jinping and were actually talking about in the next part of the show. Are you saying that shutting down a an economy for three years, communist policy isnt good for an economy. How dare you . Cheryl i know, its crazy. James, good to see you. Weve got a lot more coming up this morning. President biden, he goes on his rambling speech while hes in vietnam yesterday. Even getting cut off before hes done speaking. What you need to know. Were going to talk about it. Plus, another u. S. Open comes to a close. We are going to tell you who is swinging into the record books. Thats next. Great moment. You mean yesterday here wasnt the hurricane, lauren . I know, after a tough weekend, here we go. Hurricane lee, strengthening now into a category 3 storm this weekend as it slowly makes its way up the eastern u. S. Wind speeds measuring at over 120 miles an hour. The covid service, did you see that . He was friends with number 24, kobe bryant and he shared the winners mentality. It was great evening for u. S. Tennis. Cheryl lauren, thank you so much. Priorappreciate it. Well, President Biden visiting vietnam yesterday after attending the g20 sum it in india, the president saying the u. S. Outreach to vietnam is about providing global stability, not about containing china. Watch this. What this trip is about, its less about containing china. I dont want to contain china. I just want to make sure we have a relationship with china that is on the up and up, squared away and closer to the United States. Vietnam being closer with the United States. Its not about containing china. Its about having a stable base, a stable base in the indopacific. Cheryl joining me is a Gatestone Institute senior fellow and author of the coming collapse of china and the new book, china is going to war, gordon chang. Good morning and congratulations on the new book. I want to get your initial thoughts on how you think President Biden did on the global stage at the g20 especially in the absence of xi jinping who decided not to attend. I think President Biden and the United States had a good three or four days both in new delhi at the g20 and also in hanoi, and that was important for the United States to do but it comes on the backdrop of two andahalf years of atrocious diplomacy with the catastrophic withdrawal of afghanistan which led to putins invasion of ukraine and the failure of the United States to deal effectively with russia after the invasion. The important thing is that President Biden needs to have an honest conversation with the American People. Last month at that Democratic Party fundraiser in utah, he called china a ticking time bomb and said bad people do bad things. Well, yes, he was right about that. But he has an obligation to talk to more than just democrats in utah. He has an obligation, a constitutional obligation to talk to the American People about the danger that china poses to the u. S. Biden has failed to do that. He failed to do that in new delhi. He failed to do that in hanoi. The American People demand President Biden actually tell them what he thinks about china and the danger it poses. Cheryl well, he did meet with the chinese premier there and talked about the economic relationship and in particular the crisis they talked about taiwan, any type of invasion. What was your read on that . Well, biden said that the crisis in china thats right, the economy is in cries sigh, its not crisis. Its not growing at the 5 pace they claimed. The Inflation Numbers they released dont correspond with what we know. The chinese economy is contracting, especially evident from 11 straight months of drops of imports. It is a crisis. What biden also said, he said because of the crisis, china is less likely to invade taiwan. I think the opposite is true because xi jinping will see a closing window of opportunity and also in have been some there have been some disturbing developments inside the chinese regime which suggests turbulence which suggests that xi jinping has more incentive to be reckless. Cheryl i want to ask you about that. Because there has been some reports, not necessarily proven reports because this is china, remember, but youve written about this in some of your research that there is starting to be somewhat of a movement of discontent underneath xi jinping and maybe thats one of the reasons he didnt go to g20. Well, yeah. The narrative has been that xi jinping didnt go to new delhi because he wanted to snub india, rain on their big moment. I think its more likely that xi jinping stayed at home because he felt it was dangerous for him to actually leave because of the things that we have seen. I mean, there have been the purchasings both in the purges in the Foreign Ministry and the rocket force, the branch of the Chinese Military that controls nuclear weapons. Also, its a very fascinating Statement Issued by the ministry of state security on xi jinping maybe not going to the United States in november for the apac summit, that should have been issued by the Foreign Ministry. Its an indication that china is clamping down because theyre afraid the country may fall apart which is a real possibility when you look at the objective things that are occurring. China is extremely volatile. They can take us by surprise. We have a president that wants to be oblivious. Cheryl he leaves g20, goes to vietnam, announces a comprehensive strategic partnership, including efforts to increase capacity of semiconductors in vietnam, production, but he hailed it as an enormous opportunity and he called basically the u. S. Es u. S. Pacific nation this new friend. His presence in vietnam i thought was very interesting. What did you make of it . Well, thats a good thing because what hes doing is hes valleying the region. I mean, vietnam for decades has been really weary about irritating china. Theyve tried to steer this middle path between beijing and washington. Now its clear that hanoi is really, really a f afraid of whs going on in china so they move much closer to the u. S. This is very good diplomacy on the part of the biden administration. Of weve seen this mirrored with the camp david meeting of japan and south korea where we had south korea, a u. S. Treaty ally, with the previous president they were closer to beijing than to us. Were seeing the region concerned about the troubling developments in beijing. Cheryl before you go, the Economic Partnership with vietnam, i think the other side of this is that more and more American Companies are trying to move production to vote jam and to other vietnam and to other parts of the region. I wonder if thats part of the backdrop that he decided to stop there and not come home for the 9 11 ceremonies today, sir whavment do you say. I think thats absolutely right. We had a prominent European Business figure in china a couple days ago saying that china is closing up, its on an unchangeable path. Xi jinping, he didnt say this, but effectively he was giving the message that xi jinping was closing china up for good. And so even a figure who is normally very cautious about his comments about china is really signaling to the Business Community there that theyve got to get out of the country and vietnam is one of the places where businesses will migrate to if they want to stay in asia. Were seeing a boom in mexico because of this and this is going to change supply chains because china is falling apart sh. Cheryl we appreciate you bg here. We look forward to getting into the new book with you and all of the research you have done when it comes to the United States and its relationship with china. Gordon, thank you very much. Thank you, cheryl. Cheryl all right. Want to turn your attention to the live pictures youre seeing on your screen, youre looking at live pictures of the pentagon. Were waiting on the flag unfurling ceremony that is underway right now. Thats going to be happening in just a few moments and this is timed with the sunrise over washington, d. C. , liz and this is where our moments of remembrance begin, liz, this morning at the pentagon. Yeah. Its a very moving moment. I have to say. And we all in new york, we always think of 9 11 as being at the o epicenter, which is true. It also impacted washington, d. C. And also pennsylvania so this is something, a tribute to that day and i think a very welcome one and a somber one. Cheryl there will be ceremonies throughout the day that well be following, different moments of silence in particular in new york and pennsylvania and washington, d. C. And certainly the portion of the fact that we were talking about the president not being on the ground and liz, you mentioned this as well and i have to reiterate that this is the First Time Since 9 11 that we have not had the president of the United States on u. S. Soil on the anniversary of 9 11 and there it goes, the flag, the American Flag unfurled on the side of the pentagon. All right. Well be right back, everyone. Since 9 11, 341 members from the fdny have died of illnesses related to the a attack. Joining me now, andrew ansbro. Thank you for being here on 9 11. I know this is a very emotional day for you and your colleagues. Good morning. Thank you for having me. This is an extremely hard day. Cheryl it certainly is. Im sure the memories are still for you and for many of us still very fresh from that day in new york city. But firefighters are still struggling. And youre still working to help these First Responders that are still suffering from these illnesses, 22 years later. What do we need to know . Well, 22 years ago today we lost 343 firefighters in one. In the last 22 years, we lost n additional 341 members of the fdny. The numbers of our losses areing a accelerating, were losing 40 or 50 firefighters or fdny personnel a year and there are thousands that are suffering from the effects of cancers and other illnesses, we continue to try to get illnesses added to the World Trade Center Healthcare Program. Were working on getting to get autoimmune diseases added and its just an ongoing struggle for us. Tiheals a lot of time heals a lot of wounds but for us this is ongoing. Cheryl there is new legislation that would support 9 11 First Responders, im glad you brought it up, adding to the list of illnesses theyre suffering still to this day and weve seen the same thing happen with nypd as well and theyre suffering but i think the Fire Department certainly has took the brunt of it on 9 11. Lets talk about that now because the victims fund that was first established in the immediate aftermath of 9 11, a lot of the money seems to have be began to run out and so if im hearing you correctly, we need to put more into whether its money from washington or money from the state of new york, needs to go into this funding. Right. The money comes from washington. When the bill was passed, multiple iterations, the final bill, the World Trade Center Healthcare Program was basically given a charter to operate until 2090. Unfortunately, the funding didnt go along with that so every few years we have to go back and get more funding. The last year we received anil l allocation and we have a shortfall. Its not affecting us at this time. Its time to make sure the Healthcare Program is effective. Cheryl i have to ask you about something else, its about whats happening with new yorks mayor eric adams. He announced he wants to cut overfor the nypd and overtime for the nypd and the fdny because of the migrant crisis, the crime crisis the city is suffering from. Can you comment on that . That those be very frustrating to your h you and your colleagues. Overtime is something that many of you depend upon. Well, the last few years the overtime has actually been quite rampant. It started with covid virus coming through and the Vaccine Mandate which we fought against. It put a lot of members on the unemployment line. Several arent back yet. Most of our pay and overtime comes operationally from riding the fire trucks around the city, so for them to cut overtime, they would have to actually cut services. Theres very little overtime out there that isnt spent directly on providing Emergency Services in new york city. Its going to be tough for the fdny. I dont know about other agencies. When it comes to Emergency Services we do, the Police Department do, i find it very hard that there would be any cuts that would not seriously affect public safety. Cheryl andrew, thank you for being here on the 22nd anniversary of 9 11. I encourage all of your viewers if you go by a fire house today if youre here in the city certainly take a moment. Thank you, sir. Thank you. Cheryl all right. Well, weve got a lot more coming up this morning. The escalating migrant crisis is causing a massive strain on the budget of the city. We just asked him about it. Were going to have a live report about that coming up in just a moment. And we are honoring those we lost on 9 11 all morning long. Well be right back.
