Season, equipping for the task at hand, focusing on the issues, and making certain that we are there to protect life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That is our charge in this election season. May god bless you. May he bless your weekend and equip you for a big tourist month ahead. Thank you so much. [applause] ladies and gentlemen, please help me welcome to the stage congressman alex moody. [applause] thank you, it is such a pleasure to be with you. Congratulations on your efforts to take our country back from the far left who is intent on making it a socialist utopia that will be a complete failure. My name is alex moody and i am on my first term in congress from the great state of west virginia. I have been passionate about the political process all my life. Father served as the army captain in vietnam. When a mother turned 20 years old, she was sitting in a prison cell in cuba. My mother was raised in cuba. When the bay of pigs invasion failed, they locked everybody up. She was able to flee and be accepted into this country. She saw an entire country taken from her by a despotic dictator, an evil person. Because there is good and evil in this world. Some people would have you believe it is differences of opinion and there is no objective truth and right and wrong differs for every person. That is not true. There is good in this world and there is evil in this world. There is evil and his country, as congressman blackburn just talked about the killing of unborn children. We are passionate about fighting back against this, as are you because you are here. My parents raised me to get involved with this process at a young age. At a nonslip minimum, everybody should vote. An absolute minimum, everybody should vote. There are people that we do know that do not bow, even during the president ial year. But you are here too comment, so obviously you are more active than that. I applaud you for that because it is desperately needed. Frankly, i think we are facing a constitutional crisis. We have a president , an executive, who thinks he can make the law. And that is not how our country works. Our founders set up the system of three equal branches of the government. The president enforces the laws, he does not make up the laws himself. This has become quite a difficult battle in the congress right now. This president has decided that he is going to declare a war on coal. To use the Environmental Protection agency, the department of interior, or any other means of his disposal to industry. The call he is putting people out of work, costing good paying jobs for families just for a political agenda. One of my first battles in congress during my freshman year i have been here a year and a half. You may recall during february of last year, president obama decided to declare executive amnesty by executive order. We were told that they could stay, which is against our lot in this country. And one of the things that is so scary about that is president obama himself has said, no fewer than 22 times that he lacked the authority under the constitution to do that by himself. When he was speaking to other groups he would go speak to left ring groups and speak to conservative groups. We spoke to liberal groups, people would ask, why dont you do executive amnesty illegal amnesty by executive order. He said, i dont have the authority to do it. He used terms like i am not a dictator, not a there are restrictions and i cannot do this by executive order. Everybody knew the president lacked the authority to do that and he did it anyway. That ladys and jenna munn a scary thing. The president does not have that power. We have been waiting and watching to simply assert ourselves and to stand up for the constitutional powers that we have. I have gotten very familiar with article one section seven of the constitution, which says the power to raise revenue, the power of the purse, lies specifically with the United States house of representatives. When the president of the United States gets out of control and goes around congress, taking up laws of through the rulemaking process of his department and through executive orders, congress was empowered by the founders of our country to stop him, to the power the purse. We need to do that. [applause] there has been a lot of talk about having steady commissions and how to do a task force to examine the control the president has and maintain the power of congress. We dont need all of that. It is right there, we have it. Simply have to do it. This president is being a bully. The president does not have the power to do these things. Where the new president might be migh does not have the power to go around congress. We just need to assert ourselves. We have differences on tactics in congress, not differences on the principles. It is so frustrating. I know it is frustrating to you when the house passes bills and recall, we have the largest conservative majority. There are 247 republicans and 188 democrats. It has been frustrating to see us pass bills that have u. S. Senate abusive filibuster rule. The Minority Party, not the Majority Party. They would like everyone to think they are the Majority Party, but they are not. The Minority Party filibusters everything, everything. You need 60 votes to pass something over there. We need to put that on the floors of the world can see the tactics they are using. They do it because they are attempting to shut down government and blame the Majority Party for that, which is of course, unfair. That is something that has been a battle for us to push back against. When we pass our bills in the house of representatives, we should wait until the senate acts and then appoint a conference committee. For us to pass good bills we are doing that right now, and we are doing this this weekend next week. We are passing Appropriations Bills one at a time with riders, things that defund planned parenthood. [applause] things that stop president obamas war on coal. We say, you cant take the money and go against the american people. But i just say, if the people in this country wanted everything barack obama is doing to go unchecked, he wouldve put nancy pelosi as a speaker of the house. He was speaker for a few years, but they did not do that. Iny put paul ryan and us charge of the house. The voters have asked for that second balance. We cant get everything, but there is a lot we can do. One victory we did have late last year, we passed the bill in the house and senate to repeal obama care completely. Thank you. [applause] completely. Every word of it and used the budget reconciliation act. There are procedures we can use to get around the senate filibuster. We passed that with all republican votes and no democrat votes. It went to the desk of the president and as expected, president obama vetoed the bill. But we were trying to send the public a message. If you give us a new president , we can repeal that completely. We can do it. [applause] if we rest assured, maintain a conservative majority in the house and senate, one of the first things we will do next year is repeal that bill completely. He was the event on the desk of the president , first thing. [applause] i know there is a lot of frustration out there and a lot of doubt and i was seeking election to this office, the number one skepticism i had is that we could make a difference at all. That we are fighting hard and with your help, we will continue to make a difference for our values as people who believe in traditional judeochristian values and Strong National defense. Anyway, thanks yall for coming. God bless. [applause] ladies and gentlemen, help me welcome to the stage, Liberty University young woman for america president. [applause] hello. I am here to introduce our next speaker, congresswoman Virginia Foxx from the Fifth District of North Carolina. She was elected to congress in 2005 and prior to that, served as the senator in north Carolinas Legislature for 10 years. She established yourself as a champion of conservative values in both congress and the North Carolina senate. However, most notably, she has been one of the most fearless leaders in congress when it comes to the prolife issue. She is one of the most dedicating, unwavering, and hardworking members of congress. This has become increasingly evident with her leadership when it comes to the fight for the 20 week ban. Is one of the members of congress that led this fight on the house floor. As a young prolife woman, i am so glad to have somebody like are setting an example of fearless and selfless leadership in congress. Please join me in welcoming from the great state of North Carolina, congressman Virginia Foxx. [applause] thank you, very much, savannah. I told savannah backstage that the young woman who runs my office is a liberty grad. She came to me as an intern about 11 years ago and during the first few minutes, she got me some information. I said to my chief of staff, that women is staying here as long as i am here. So, you keep her. We love the liberty grads. We really do. [no audio] [applause] i want to say it is a great honor to be with you this morning and especially, as i have seen the list of speakers and heard already a couple of my colleagues speaking to you and some are back at the back getting ready to come to speak to you. I think you will see what a Wonderful Group of republican members that we have in the congress. You will see that we are very strongly committed to faith and freedom in our country. We are leading the fight in this area, but we need folks like you lands,re in the inner helping to back us up with this. I want to say to you, it is an honor to be with you and i want to encourage you, as the other members have encouraged you and im sure as the members coming after me will, to stay involved and get even more involved. I agree, everybody can do something. I get letters from people in my office and they read my own mail and answer my own mail. So, i stay up with what is going on. And people say, what are you going to do about president obama . What are you going to do about this . And i turn it right back around and say, what are you going to do . Because we cant do this alone in the congress of the United States. We have to have everybody involved. Im so delighted that marsha spoke to you about the Investigative Panel on infant lives. I am the one who originally introduced that bill. I want to tell you, it is a prime example of one of our ma jor responsibilities in the congress that is often overlooked. That is the responsibility of oversight of the executive branch. Howknow, we read about Dysfunctional Congress is all the time. That is a press wants to talk about. Is it because republicans are in charge and we are dysfunctional . That is not true and dont buy into that. I asked recently because most people are saying, why cant you just get along . Did you know, any 9 of our 99 of our bills passed with bipartisan support. We have between 20 and 80 hearings the week and you never hear about that. We are passing legislation, but also, we have lots of committees doing their work in terms of oversight of the executive branch. We are delving into what the executive branch is doing and how it is either doing its work right or not doing its work right, as well as agencies that get money from the federal government, like planned parenthood. As part of our responsibility and i think we are doing it very well. I do want to tell you again, very briefly, you are going to hear from a variety of us and i want to tell you, because they help to inspire the young people here, like savannah. You might think that members of Congress Come from rare backgrounds, but i grew up in a house with no electricity and no running water. Th grader had a six education and my father had a ninth grade education. I tell them, im not tell you that to complain or to brag. Im only saying, we live in the greatest country in the world. [applause] asked this morning on a radio show if i were giving a commencement speech right now, this is commencement season, what would i say to young people . And i would say to them, wake up, open your eyes, and realize, you live in the greatest country in the world, where you have every opportunity to exercise the godgiven skills and talents you have to be whatever it is you want to be. Now, i have to tell you, when i was younger, i was focused on surviving. That is all i was focused on. I did not know god would lead me to where he has led me, but i feel very strongly that i could not be in the congress of the United States without the hand of god, guiding me and bringing me here. [applause] as others have alluded to, i love the title of your group, faith and f reedom. Well milk, that is how our country was formed on the concept of freedom and faith. We are losing those freedoms, slowly but surely in this country. The only way we are going to keep them is for people like you to be involved and to make sure that you hold people running for office to account to maintain our freedom and to make sure our faith is not pushed aside. I dont know how many of you ever get a chance to go down and see the congress in session, but we begin every day with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance. And every republican meeting that we have, our conference meetings not all of the community meetings, but a lot of our special community meetings, we begin with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance. And i think it is important that you know that because we do look to god for guidance and i will tell you, some of the prayers that are given in our conference are so inspiring. I have been collecting them. I was hoping someday to publish those. But you have folks on our side of the aisle, and some people on the other son, who want to sustain what sounded our country. This morning i said to one of my staffers, i said, i want to talk a bit about the founding of the country and this theme of faith and freedom. Because i know i have read that the founders of the constitution, the signers of the declaration of independence were members of the American Bible Society. Most of them were preachers. Most of you probably know that history. But if you dont, i encourage you to learn more about it. But i found something really interesting and my staff gave me the list of president s of the American Bible Society and i saw that the United States senator Theodore Freeman highs and was elected president in 1846. And then frederick, was elected president in 1894. The reason i mention them is because there is one in the congress right now, from new jersey. And so, that thread has stayed with us throughout our entire history. And we want to keep that thread there. I will tell you that again, you hear lots of negative things about us, but it is important you know, there are positive things that have been. We have a Prayer Breakfast every thursday morning, out of which the national Prayer Breakfast developed. We get together in a bipartisan fashion and we pray for each other and we pray for our leaders. I go to a bible study on wednesday mornings and my group focuses on jesus calling. How many of you read jesus calling every day . It is so great and it is one of the best devotionals that we have. But i want to talk a little bit more about policy. As a some of you know and other people will allude to today, speaker ryan has asked us to look at setting up an agenda called better way for the american people. We want to point out to people that we have a philosophy and we have an agenda. If we return to congress with a republican majority and we get a republican president , we will have a better way for the american people. We believe we will win on philosophy and ideas. We dont want this contest this fall to be a contest of just personalities. And so, we are working on that. The firstlled out one, which is on poverty, opportunity, and education. These are things that our faithbased organizations have always been so good at. We want to give them even more of a opportunityn in the future. Do you know anything that the government does better than the private or Nonprofit Sector . Nothing, absolutely nothing. And we have been spending 1 trillion each year on poverty programs and have not moved the needle one bit. To reengage the aith immunity and marking with us to make a difference for the american people, go back to the way it used to be in this country when that was the responsibility of our faithbased organizations. You know, i am somebody who beg ins each day reading jesus calling. Sometimes i read it at midnight before i go to bed and then read it again in the morning. I want you to know that most of us, starting with the speaker and coming down to all of us on that we of the aisle, know that this nation needs a moral and Spiritual Foundation in order to survive and thrive. [applause] George Washington said in his first inaugural, no people can be bound to it knowledge the hand that conducts the affairs of man more than the people of the United States. So, we must be involved as people of faith. And i often talk to people at home who feel like they are losing their faith and they say, we can do anything. It is all lost. Please do not buy into that. I believe as long as god gives us breath, we can save this country. [applause] what i have told people for many many years when they told me years ago, when it first ran for the state senate, i was at a church, meeting people and they said, we dont think church and politics shoudld mix. Politics is a dirty business. I said, if people of faith are not involved in the political life, you were leaving it to the philistines. [applause] and i am not willing to leave it to the philistines. So, i want to say to you, thank you. Thank you for being involved with the faith and freedom coalition. Thank you for caring about this country. Thank you for being people of faith. And dont be discouraged. Im not discouraged. Many other members of congress will encourage you to do the same thing. This is the greatest country in the world and help us keep it that way. God bless you and god bless america. [applause] ladies and gentlemen, please welcome from the great state of georgia, congressman jody hice. [applause] thank you very much. What a tremendous honor to be here. I appreciate the opportunity to come. And most of all, thank you for being a part of the faith and freedom coalition. What an outstanding job you are doing. My background is actually in ministry. 30as a pastor for 25 or years and a conservative radio talk show host as well. I want to share with you a couple of bits of good news. Because you know, i think all of us here from washington, a lot of discouragement. Not necessarily from washington representatives, but what we all just feel. We are watching the demise of our country right before our eyes. We are disturbed and broken, by want to give you a little bit of good news and then circle back around and give you other points and perspectives. One of the committees i serve on is the oversight and government reform, ogr. That is the committee i have come to refer to as the group that deals with of the three branches of government, which today are waste, fraud, and abuse. Deals with. Ogr whenever there is an efficiency or scandal, it falls under the jurisdiction of this committee. This last year we have called for the removal of office from there hes departments and agencies, from various departments and agencies, some are in the ballpark of 20 heads of departments. We have been successful in removing 18 out of 20. [applause] that is not the type of thing you hear about in the news. I wish that type of information would get out more, but that is good news. One of the two we have not been successful in his the head of the irs. About the email scandal and the targeting of the irs into conservative organizations. It is inexcusable. We have had hearings with him. We asked him to step down from his position and he refused to do so. We sent a letter to the president , asking him to remove him. He refused to do anything about it. So, we went to the next step. We filed articles of impeachment against him. [applause] has taken several months, but i am glad to report to you that just a couple of weeks ago the House Judiciary Committee actually took on hearings about that. We are going to stay on his case until he has Something Else to do or he has a clean cell he can spend a lot of time in. [applause] i am also honored to be a part of a group of evangelicals within congress who are trying to reach out to the Christian Community in america. We just had our first meeting with many leading passengers from across the country. We understand that we have got to have people of faith. Weve got to have christian leaders across the country engage with us in prayer and just impacting our culture. And so, we had a fantastic meeting about a month or so ago. We have a Conference Call with a group of pastors that week. The First Amendment defense act. I do not have to tell anyone the is massivelycution on the increase in the United States of america and we have got to defend our right to keep the will open. Christian in a every citizen, to live according to so withoutfs and do fear of the intimidation or harassment from our government. Pushe are working hard to the First Amendment defense act through. Let me circle around. I dont know how else to say it that we are in the fight of our life for our country. Fight of our life a end at the core of that battle is the spiritual need and the fact that we have and continue to four sake the judeochristian principles. Has separated our nation from the rest. That is the core problem. Spiritual problems cannot he resolved by Political Solutions or political prowess. We are firmly aware of that. Absolutely the greatest need we have is a spiritual awakening. And we need you. I want to thank you for being a part of this. My background is in ministry. Conservative radio talk show host for 12 years. The redefining moment, there have been several, but one of aclu came to the the county where i was pastoring. Members of our church but those commandments in the courthouse. Rightawsuit and marched into the doors of our church and that was the beginning of a turning point. Became a up and leader. Later, we had a battle with the irs on what can and cannot be said on the pulpits of churches across america. The point of saying all that is to say this. This is our country. This is our turf. One day thatit me it is we the people. As christians we have two mandates to engage our culture and make it a difference. We have passages like matthew five that collis to be a light in our world regardless of the country we live in. We are called to be salt and light regardless of where we live. Here in america, we have a doesm of government that not work without involvement from the people and so we have both a biblical mandate and the honor of living in a country that does not work unless we step up to the plate and engage this thing headon. When that reality hit me, i realized i could not just complain and continue to do the things i had been doing at that point. Sense ofa deed deep responsibility and my wife and i god we had to do this and led the way. Not all of us can be in Public Office but all of us can do something. Iom the depths of my heart say thank you for your engagement in our culture let me close with this quote. One of my great heroes is james garfield. I dont know if you know much about our field but he is the only minister ever to be elected president of the United States. Unfortunately, he was assassinated. I dont really know if that has anything to do with it and i never read anything about him it. Did not say he got he understood the issues of faith and freedom. He understood the role of ourgion and morality as founders described it. And garfield made this quote and leave you with this because tell me if it does not apply today more than an has ever applied. He said, now, more then ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their congress. Ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption. [applause] to say if he went on they are ignorant and his because people represent that. Then he said, if the next centennial does not find us a great nation, it will be because represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nature did not control the political forces. Folks, this is our turf. Our country. Our time for the body of christ to have its finest hour. This is the time to step up to the plate. The stakes are enormously high, as you know. I want to thank you for being an gauge. God bless you. Keep the torture of blaze. [applause] announcer at ladies and gentlemen, please help me to welcome to the stage the executive director of the faith and freedom coalition, dave baker. Is anator david perdue businessman with 40 years of experience including serving on the board of reebok. He never ran for Political Office until 2014 when he and his wife bonnie were inspired to get involved. He has made his mark on the budget, agriculture, arms relations and judiciary. All of us every day in the senate and is committed to solving our National Debt and Global Security crisis. Ladies and gentlemen senator david perdue of georgia. ] pplause sen. Perdue i am so honored to be here. We have a serious moment and history as you heard from the prior speaker. Having to follow the speakers. Jodi is a great guy. Boy. Another georgia i think we are called to pray for our country and our leaders. Thank you for being here. I think were called to pray. I think were called to pray for our country, for our leaders and, yes, even our president. In his role as president , i think we should pray for barack obama. I think we need to pray for him like psalms 109 8 says, let his days be few and let another have his office. In all seriousness, i believe that america is at a moment of crisis. I see three dimensions in that crisis. First, we have a constitutional crisis. Not my words. The words of jonathan turley, a constitutional law professor at George Washington university right here in town. This president has figured out how to run the Country Without Congress through executive orders and regulatory mandate. Hes actually created the fourth arm of government, the regulators, and those regulators just in the last seven years have created 20,000, over 20,000 new regulations, and its sucking the very life out of our Free Enterprise system. The second dimension of our crisis, i believe, is the Global Security crisis. I believe the world is more dangerous right now than any point in my lifetime. Im a member of the Foreign Relations committee. I travel a good bit as part of that responsibility, and i can tell you, when you meet with these leaders around the world, you can see the fear in their eyes because we are not leading any longer and theyre worried about their freedom and their future. The world is very dangerous. We see it on many levels. First, the rise of russia and china and their evergrowing aggressiveness. We see the expansion of isis around the world now. We see the Nuclear Proliferation danger among rogue nations like north korea and iran, and, yes, we see hybrid warfare being perpetrated today, including cyberwarfare and other means. The last thing what nobodys talking about we right now have an arms race in space. Ladies and gentlemen, the world is a very dangerous place, and yet at this point in history this president has disinvested in our military to the point where were spending about 3 of our g. D. P. On our military. Thats the lowest point since world war ii. Its 200 billion less than our 30year average. We have this legacy of this president will be that hes leaving us in the weakest position militarily at the very point were facing more threats around the world than we ever have. We have today the Smallest Army since world war ii. The Smallest Navy since world war i. The oldest and Smallest Air Force ever. Ive been around the world visiting these men and women. I can tell you the best and i mean the very best of america is in uniform fighting for you and me and defending our nation right now. The third dimension of this crisis is interlocked with the Global Security crisis because our debt crisis is preventing us from recapitalizing our military to be sure we can defend our country. We all know the headlines. 19 trillion of debt, but it against worse. The Congressional Budget Office says if we dont do something in the next 30 years, that debt goes to 30 trillion. Ladies and gentlemen, today if Interest Rates were just at their 30year average of 5 , how many of you remember double digit inflation . You and i dont want to go back there. We would be paying 1 trillion of interest today. Thats not possible. And whats worse of that. Future unfunded liabilities are estimated to be over 100 trillion. Folks, thats 1 million for every family in america. This is intransigence on a major scale. Both parties are guilty, by the way. We have to do something about it, but, you know, whenever america has been at a moment of crisis we worked and worked and with gods direction we have found a moment of opportunity and thats what we have today. I think the moment of opportunity is greater than the moment of crisis. We have the opportunity to change the direction of our country and set up the next 50 years or 100 years for our children and our childrens children that would make the last 70 years of economic boom, which is the greatest in the history of mankind, pale in comparison, but we have to get serious about doing some things. First, when my wife and i decided to run, i never did anything in politics. My mom and dad are school teachers. She thinks i lost my mind when we decided to run for senate. It got bad halfway through the race. The democrats were piling on us. I was a nominee. My mother was very involved. She called me out about six weeks. She said, david, i love you like a son. I said, mom, i am your son. She said, yeah, if these democrats keep up i might not vote for you. So this is all new to me. But my wife and i decided then that we had to do something to try in some small way to change the direction of the country. And we saw then there were three things that had to happen, in our opinion. One, to change the direction of the country we had to win the republican majority in 2016 in 2014. We did with your help. Then we said, well, we need to maintain that majority in 2016, and most importantly, to change the direction of the country, the way this country is being led right now, we had to put someone in the white house who was conservative and who understood that we need to change the direction of the country. Those are the three things we had to do. Today we have an opportunity. This is a president ial election year. Were down to two candidates. Im telling you right now if you want to change the direction of the country, you dont want a third term of barack obama, you have to put aside our differences and put donald j. Trump in our white house. [cheers and applause] senator perdue with trump in the white house and the leadership around him, i believe we can finally bring term limits to the United States senate and the United States house of representatives. I believe we can actually [applause] senator perdue i believe we can actually begin to correct the budget process thats been broken for the last 42 years. Its only worked four times, folks. Imagine that. Thats the root of what this problems all about. I believe we can eliminate redundant agencies. Some 300 billion, 400 billion worth. And, yes, we can grow this economy. The irony of all these sweeping programs that the democrats have put on us and you think, well, how did we get here . The irony is they failed. We have add in the last 100 years three supermajorities. The first gave us the new deal. The second, great society. The third, obamacare and doddfrank. Now, im just a business guy but these three supermajorities, most responsibility of the financial catastrophe and the irony is those sweeping programs have failed the very people they claim to champion, the working middle class and the working poor. Today we have the weakest economic recovery in the last 70 years under way. In the last seven years alone, we have not had one quarter of 3 g. D. P. Growth. If you look at the work force we have right now, we have the smallest Work Force Participation rate since jimmy carter was president and worst of all, folks, in the last seven years under this president we allowed four million women to fall into poverty. Its unconscionable. These programs have failed. We know that. The evidence is there. So now we have the opportunity. If we get serious and put our differences aside, we can create an environment where we can fix these things. Save social security. We can absolutely arrest the rising nature of our Health Care Cost and put this country on a direction for our children and grandchildren to where we wont have to look at them and apologize. You know, i believe that one of the most profound things we got to do is get back to our founding principles of our founding mothers and our founding fathers. Economic opportunity, fiscal responsibility, limited government, individual liberty. I think were called to pray. Chronicles says, if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, i will hear them in heaven. Forgive their sins and heal their land. Ladies and gentlemen, we need that prayer today. We need to heal our land. We need to turn back and turn away from the direction weve been headed. Thats why we have to change the direction of our country. I believe that john adams had it right. That once a Constitutional Government turns away from freedom, it can never be restored. Liberty once lost is lost forever. I dont want to be a member of the first generation in American History that has to tell my children and my grandchildren that im leaving them a world worse off and less free than the one my parents left me. It doesnt have to be that way. We have the opportunity today to change the direction of our country and thank you for being involved. If we put donald j. Trump in our white house we can change the direction of our country because we cannot allow Hillary Rodham clinton one more night in our white house. Thank you. God bless you. [cheers and applause] who are these democrats . Is sentenced on tuesday to spend eight months in a confinement cell. It all began when the Obama Administration tried to shut me up. What did i learn . All crying about stealing. The big criminal. He did not give me any reason to keep him. Likes it is time to go behind the curtain and discovered the soul of the democratic party. The democrats. Thatrighteous this Civil Rights Act will allow colored swept under the rug. We have got to give them a little lesson. The democrats went from slavery to and slave men. Corrupt what does progressive actually mean . I met margaret sanger. The Democratic Convention of 2012, the government is one belong to. Ll what are these democrats hiding. Moneyn you follow the there is very very few what if the goal of the democratic hardy is to steal the most valuable thing the world has ever produced . What if their plan is to steal america . Now. Ts stop them ] pplause at ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage from the great state of oklahoma, senator james langford. Good morning. Rd let me tell you a little bit about my story and i will let you adjust to my voice. Because when i first talked to people they usually say, that is not what i expected to come out. Welcome to my life. I have served in the senate for the last two years. David purdue and i came in at the same time. By the way, he is a solid senator. I come from a different background. I served 32 years in Youth Ministry before i came to congress. That might seem odd, but my experience working with the juveniles was great preparation to come to congress lifes calls this greatest interruption. We never planned to go to congress. This was a calling for us. Father god came into our life and said, this is what i am asking you to do. We spent about seven months praying about it finally decided, i dont want to be a grandfather and tell my grandchildren about the time i did not listen to gods calling. Right thingo the the right way and and gauge the nation in a critical way. People said i was leaving my of government. I smiled and said i tell you what to do, go to the Old Testament and tried to find a book that was not written to a political leader, by a political eight political leader. For those of you are going to get bored, you can start thinking about that. I think 37 of the 39 books of deal testament me that category. Even the calling of saul when he became paul on the road to damascus, when they complained and said, do you really want me to go see the sky, the spirit of god said, yes. He is my chosen instrument to be jews, the gentiles, and the gentile kings. The rest of the book of acts after that, you see paul over a handover again reaching out to all groups including government leaders. Does god have a heart for the nation through leaders . Absolutely. The creator of government like he is the creator of the family and work. Write off what we cannot write all. We have a habit of making elected officials into celebrities. They are not. They are asked to do a job. This is a real job with real work. It is slow. It is tedious. It takes forever. I have heard over and over, big ships dont turn quickly. I smile and say, but you have to turn it the wheel and even surely they will turn. We turned into the storm we are at now because of priority leadership and current leadership turning us into the storm. Back out. N our way the challenges, how do we do that and how do we get that done . Over the past couple years and what has happened in the senate and house has been remarkable. To answer Hillary Clintons favorite question, what difference does it make . Let me give you a few thoughts. We are voting again. That might seem trivial but you do not move on issues unless you start voting again. Three years ago under harry reid, there were four teen votes. 14. We are in the hundreds. Were back into voting again. We passed the first balanced budget plan that has been passed in the converts since 2001. David purdue who was here before, we are working on a plan to reform the budget process. How we do the budget. Every single year since 1974 we have all complaint about the same thing. We should fix the process. We are trying to lay out, how do we fix this process to make it work better. How do we get the senate back to work again. Hitting rid of the common core mandates. Getting rid of all the mandates, that happened this past year. Aat was not just conversation. We passed it into law. We put into the president s desk, defunding planned parenthood. Most of them made it all the way to his desk. The major highway bill. In the wall street journal today there was a piece on a bill i put forth on the freedom of religion and to worship. Some want to equate the two but they are different. Test, ittizenship asked news it is and what was one of the freedoms and they listed freedom of worship. I challenged them on it and said, that is not what our constitution says. It means if you are in a specific place at a specific time you can exercise your religion how you want to. You can worship anyplace anytime and live your faith out anywhere you choose to because we have the free exercise of religion. Initiallytion folks said they were going to leave it as it was. We continued to press and they said, you are right. We are to change it. The washington journal has a good piece on that. We are turning the ship. Trying to ride it out of the storm. It will be a long way. There are a lots of people that have the sense our hopes should be in washington. I would say, your hopes should not be in washington. We have a higher hope than that. I would also say for all of the folks who believe they will just elect the right people and change the nation, let me remind you washington does not change the country, the country changes washington. A muchll turn around in harder way. It is the engagement of people like you will will engage in the hard work. This is tougher than we want to say it is at times. Quite frankly, there is a sense that if we can only get washington to flip it would flip everything else. Reality, ito the will really flip when we change familiesns and our and our churches, that is where the work begins and that is where it actually works in the end. So i would like to challenge you on a few things. I would like to challenge you to do something bold. Vote. Lean in. Get engaged. It amazes me at the amount of christians who do not vote. It is tiring. It is a long line, i am mad at this candidate or that one. Watching sure sign of god be removed from any influence in washington, d. C. If we as the church failed to step up and vote we abdicate leadership to everyone else who church. N the the church has a responsibility to make sure our voices are heard. The church has a responsibility to say, our task is our task. I am afraid. I am concerned. Ive been a minister for two decades and i am concerned people are saying that government is going to take care of it. Take your those in poverty. Take care of those in need. Take care of those issues. You know what . We have three point one million federal employees right now. The highest in the history of the government. Our budget is 4 trillion, the highest it has ever been. How is that working out for us . Know what would be a simple solution . Maybe a simple solution is to say, maybe the church needs to step up and be the church again and actually do what we are called upon to do. Of the nation has always been our family. It has always been here. You see, government rises and gets bigger one familys collapse. Falter, government rises and tries to children, moms. Criminal justice, all of those things are based on the collapse of the family. The government gets bigger and bigger to solve the issue of the family. Government is not a great solution for families. Churches are. If churches were going to lean in and say, we are going to mentor young family so we dont have the kind of divorce. Adoptry church were to one child, one foster family, we would solve the foster care issue in our nation. There are very specific ways the church can step up and lead in this and we are at our best when we do this. We do not believe government is the final solution. We believe in psalm 121, i lift my eyes up to the mountains. There is a hill higher than capitol hill. What is my hope, from . My help comes from the lord, the maker of heaven and earth. It is not capitol hill. There is something bigger. There is a right thing to do and a right way to do it. One of the challenges of the church is family. What we have is christian. We get drawn into the siren song of the angry voices. We assume that is the way we are going to make a difference. Peter road to a church and a very Pagan Society and said to them, i challenge you to be aliens and strangers in this world. To live such good lives among the gentiles that even though they accuse you of doing wrong that they see your good works and glorify god on the davids thoughts. Just end up in the crowd, honor of authority. You want to make a difference in our community . We do politics in a different way. We stand up for what is right and on her authority when we are doing it. The whole world will look at us and say, why do you do that . He gives us the opportunity to present truth. We are not consumed with being the angriest. We are consumed with being right and doing gods work gods way. At times i believe we pray for revival because it sounds so much easier than doing the work. You know what we can do . Lets lean in. Lets do the work. There is much to be done in our nation and the church should leave. I have a job. Job tobeen giving the the state of oklahoma and i will give it all ive got because there is a lot to get done. We together have a lot to do. God bless you all. [applause
