That out it's. And this is my lab rats and coming out few off the hall past one today we could be doing a somerset soundtrack and today's from David who is from downstairs now Tony De Mint from the fabulous paedos they're going to be performing tomorrow night in Bath at the Can social club so we had a bit of a chat to find out what's been going on well yeah reviving a bad 40 years ago. How does that fail. Well it's kind of you know initially it felt kind of weird but I just had quite a strong feeling about it and so I got in touch with the other guys in the band is like a 4 piece band. And. We had a couple of meetings a lot of West Ham pubs just chat about what we could do. And we decided to go 'd ahead so we booked a venue in London which is nose jazz and blues which we're doing on November the 20 know it. But of Fortunately the place the original bass player had been changing it and he eventually said look you know I don't do that anymore I'll play music on more of a spiritual path a method sites and he goes to India for 70 years I said well it's Dakar that so I got a bass player who's in my other band Ronnie and the Rex is really good Richard and then the drum the drummer kind of dropped out I mean this was what you got superannuated rock n roll has. Their backs tend to go out more that night. So I got the drum from from Ronnie in the racks to possible really happy to do it so a couple of weeks ago we we arranged source which will be you know I felt very tentative about it but the end of the 2nd day it was all sounding like the original band was just silly great so. You know really quite confident about it now and Sputnik stay away runs the the bass Comedy Festival is like an almighty Nocturnals a solid shows and I said look we need a kind of award gig really sorry said no one would do with Comeau bar and I said Yeah I've heard that's a really nice and you said yeah we booked it there our 1st gig is of life here. Is this Friday with kids. C'mon you must be a little bit nervous than. I'm just a little bit you know you don't want to get too too too smart about it or whether you know it is. Really good but also feel like a lot of us so. They wouldn't jump a was the only thing I played our stuff which was great but you know it was never deemed right for the general daytime play on Radio one so a lot so a lot of people will be like you you you saw this you we kept in touch with each other yeah I mean there was no kind of big you know internal problems in arguments I mean obviously there were you have disagreements over arrangements you know that but it never really got to a point where you know I talk possibly well about that. Or that the only way we roll over a body by the way goes over the each other and ourselves like that and it's just really good to be back with Bobby again because he's done some amazing things as well with your comedy you've been on things in the young ones comic strip I mean that's an incredible thing to be part of. It really was. When the band folded 'd in the early eighty's I I was looking around for something to challenge me because I wasn't very excited about what was happening of these explain why I don't like your magic stuff was always pretty gritty gritty things and I loved I loved New Wave and punk could all of that because it was exciting to you and somebody said about digital friend of mine who's working at the Comic Strip which was based in poor Amos review but I mean this is an interesting thing the early days of alternative comedy were generally in strip clubs where everyone was supposed to be making these great statements against misogyny and all the rest of it and it was all go ahead on the strip. Well you know if I went there and I auditioned and suddenly I'm up there working with with Rick and I. Like cease and then I'll know these people in on it to me it was really exciting because this was this reminded me a punk rock it was in some ways it was more dangerous than punk rock but it was it was exciting you know and then that led to other things. May not have a ridiculously broad you know I wrote songs for a movie I got long listed for an Oscar for a song that was recorded by check accounts of the soundtrack of this movie and you know I've done quite a lot of different stuff this is like going back to the source. So for people that remember the fabulous Pujols it's going to be like going back in time it's going to be the same stuff you know I mean you know that that's that's the plan and also I don't really want to be be seen as a vintage It's just going to be banging out all the old stuff all the time because obviously I've written a hell of a lot of somewhere between and I hope to to go on to write some more songs for the Plutos really nice to hopefully make another album about you know over the next 6 months or so well best of luck with Friday this Friday I. Can say show with compelling barfs and I'm sure you can have a brilliant time I'm looking forward. To come along. Say catch a. Well it's got to be one of my favorite songs of all time and it's set to the right . Maybe even your READY list READY. Don't be a little bit wet especially at this kind of year so this is all about setting fire to something that falls from the sky almost every day even if this rain it doesn't matter and there's so many places. If you forget something. Everything. Yeah absolutely I mean. This show really shot so you know so I think. There's a shot that shows are just I can see that so well you know because of our way of getting something. To wrap you so yeah by the fire in the pub at the end of the option is wow. Well yeah. You know this so much talk on the radio on the same day at the moment about how the high street pulling apart across the. Really tight community are very clear that the business is so only going much recommend that you get to talk to one of the co-ops in the village 'd or on the high street so we go over the independent businesses to pretty much sell you anything from a coal scuttle through to a look we will show you. When you finish shopping as you said earlier on you can call to the city going to the fire or go to one of the many coffee shops and see rooms to. Something lovely and so. 'd does does all of history but there's also a huge bond and a business the same way it's alive and well into the stores and the sun lovely food walks around the area is such a lovely thing to have an avid x. Moron you do a stat on the things that people really Miss Iris or. Here is best seen all 3 aspects of the village and that's you know the beach so you've got an amazing touch to be to a bring you don't just go for really racing Wark there on the beach you will still deliver the high street and the. Extreme but you've also got really quite interesting or and relatively simple warps you know 510 minutes from the village that it's up to Congress how are you basing pews the Bristol Channel the concepts the next more or just go by the village of course you can influence tallest tree as well so loads to do it whether or not you want to shelter in the shops or popes or shops or 'd boots on and go through the next mall it's an amazing place so David was going to be 4th and final Some tonight I'm sort of part of the he's a bit of fun something that takes me right back to my ears aren't they swarm is it gracious sometimes it's been lovely Chante today thank you for sharing some of the secrets of downstairs while saluting Mel thank you very much as.
