Via Belgium arriving at Purfleet in Essex overnight road Mackenzie from the road haulage Association identified it as a refrigerated trailer it's very likely that it was very cold and there it would have been very dark there would be no air they may have spent up to 5 days in the Sea Org. Container that eventually cost and there are a prime minister's question time Boris Johnson said What happened was appalling This is because the whole house will be shocked by the appalling news that 39 bodies have been discovered in a lorry container in Essex this is an unimaginable tragedy and truly heartbreaking I know that the thoughts and prayers of all members are with those who lost their lives and their loved ones I'm I'm receiving regular updates and the Home Office will work closely with Essex police as we establish exactly what is happening my own little friend my right arm for the home secretary will make an oral statement immediately after these questions and the Labor leader Jeremy call been offered his sympathies I join others over offered their deep sadness at today's news of 39 people being found dead in a lorry container in Gray's Can we just think for a moment of what it must have been like for those $39.00 people obviously in a desperate and dangerous situation for their lives to end suffocated to death in a container this is an unbelievable human tragedy that happened in our country at this time we obviously need to look at the whole situation and answers to what has happened there but also. I do pay an enormous tribute to the emergency services who've gone to the scene to deal with it all of. It and deal with them in a program in an appropriate and humane way we should just think for a moment of what inhumanity is done to all the other human beings at this terrible my area. Of course. Not really medical care they meet you might remember this from the b.b.c. Panorama programme filmed in the county and broadcast earlier this year. Say we're going to see a 86 year old. Has some of them ability to reel. Paramedics are being called to a woman in distress she also lives alone. This is where the pressure is the result from a creaking care system are often felt. Because our current rage the things in the buff the doctor said it was valid so is this how it didn't take just 16 hair on my own trying to do thing was right so she's stressed to say you know I need help can't get up my seat she's had this pile Vertica it's made her super right if she wants to be in hospital now Ok you can do more than you think you can because we've been in this afternoon and he said you could walk and yet you walked around quite comfortably with your Walker what you're saying is you do need extra help she doesn't need to go to hospital and there are emergency calls coming in. Panorama reporter Alison Holt. The crew of paramedics attending an elderly woman in Somerset now you have the paramedics saying at the end there'd be some help with that woman within a few hours and for the next couple of days meaning she didn't need to go into hospital that's called rapid response it's been tried out for the last year and is being expanded this winter I am a day is a clinical nurse supervisor on the rapid response response scheme where a service has been created since November 2018. And we're service to keep patients at home instead of being midst hospital the service visits patients at home to see whether they can be looked after homes you avoid that hospital admission people can refer to various ways so yes the g.p. Can go out to join his rounds if you see a patient and Thank You know will not push me to hospital get to try and see if we can enable them stay at home whether it be on antibiotics and we come in see them for a couple of days the antibiotics kick in and then the patient gets back to where they should be as such over that time also you've got the emergency services so the ambulance crews you've got we work with a frail an elderly units a hospital and Musgrave Park Hospital they can come out from that and also a knee as well so there is lots of different people that now get hold of us to stop patients from going through the hospital doors and the coming in impatient they then become our patient and least we keep them hein I'm a community NASA totally community nursing it's all about neighborhood nursing it's all about that patient might need that observations taken because they could have an infection by given the sensibilities could help you know get better but we need to monitor that also he says it's a positive risk taking we keep patients at home to try and ensure their safety but if any point we feel are they getting poorly then yes we would have to admit them but you know that doesn't happen very. And we do keep patients hard and then they basically go off and gets up which is great welcome responses of kept 950 patients out hospitals since we stopped today a fast 2080 we've prevented those admissions and I believe you know passionate that we have stopped unnecessarily admissions to hospital we take about 5 to 6 referrals a day and we have about 900 patients on ah caseload at one time you know that's a hold of some sets we have different teams and we across these patients within those areas a somber day a clinical nurse supervisor with rapid response at Somerset partnership and h s trust. Somerset's whether the b.b.c. Sound and with those details in Ferguson hello there well we have a warm front across the counter the moment has been thickening up the cloud it's been bringing some outbreaks of rain have and some of those will be moderate at times through the course to save thank you and indeed on into tonight's but it will be a lot of variation mile by mile just how much rain we're saying expecting some rather murky conditions particularly across more east and southeastern parts of the county and by the end of the night temperatures about 8 or 9 degrees there are near a chilly as some recent nights tomorrow then courtesy of a sequence of fronts moving across us we're going to find some further periods of rain in the morning some of those cars. Be fairly heavy in places but they'll drift away eastwards to allow the off day and to brighten up more in the way of sunshine around and many of you then drive through the remainder of the day but for some showers building from west to east in the evening some of those where these to catch them could be fairly heavy cuts. Hour the pretenders and don't get me wrong this is b.b.c. Somerset Wednesday strive not with you until 7 as usual and back on to the big news of the day and that is that police have begun a murder investigation after a lorry was discovered in Essex with 39 bodies inside the lorry driver a 25 year old man from Northern Ireland has been arrested let's find out some more details now from our reporter Manpreet Penda a member Good afternoon thank you very much for joining me what more do we know at the moment and we know that 38 of that 8 of the victims 39 of the victims sorry a 38 were adults and one was a teenager the police has said that there were no survivors and we have had in any the last hour or so an update from police is to where they say the lorry came from and initially the lorry was thought to have travelled from Bulgaria and then entered the country through Holly had in North Wales on Saturday and then made its way to ethics and but in this update out that we've got here the police say that the vehicle is registered in Bulgaria but there their inquiries now lead them to believe that the trail travelled from Zapruder in Belgium into Purfleet on the River Thames and then docked in authority of Essex shortly after 1230 this morning and then it left about 35 minutes later and ended up in the industrial estate which is where police were called Do we know anything about the victims yet. Not really Essex Police say that they are trying really hard to identify the victims but of course it could be a lengthy process with 39 bodies having been find of the lobby they say that there are there aren't even even any details yet that they can give us about where the people who died were from so you know their nationality let alone why they may have been making that journey there are some suggestions that it could be some kind of people smuggling operation and but again nothing's been confirmed yet and one of the police said so far. And while there they say that they're dealing with a very complex and of course active matter inquiry say they're not able to give us a huge deal of information at the moment they have said that they're working very hard to identify who the who the victims are and that will involve dealing with lots of local and international partners and agencies to try and share intelligence people Mills's from Essex petty She gave us this update this is an absolute tragedy and very sad day for Essex pace place in the local community we will continue to work alongside many other partner agencies to find out what led to these deaths but not to pilfer anyone who has any information to contact my offices of the major investigation tape on 1010 by visiting our 6 police website. And they also say that the Norway driver he's named likely is my weapons and from Northern Ireland he's been arrested on suspicion of me as you can imagine and as pick the most just at that rate Sam is quite complex at investigation at the moment the National Crime Agency they will say made a statement and they say that it's hot that that it's sent officers to assist and identify any organized crime groups who may have played a part and they say that's all the information that we have a moment. Thank you very much indeed that's Manpreet penned the reporting from my folks at the b.b.c. Some of. The That time to hear once again from. In tonight's Champions League action the holders Liverpool travelled to Belgium to face gang King group a young top side are the favorites to win but Liverpool's James Milner is not expecting an easy matter now bit of the strong at home the strong side on the right and I think that a good Europe Erin compound last year and obviously after a good result runs not play they're going to be full of confidence and and wanting to be part of the performance and be a big test for us before that game kicking off shortly Chelsea are whites who acts in Amsterdam just see currently 3 points behind to the top side who reached the semifinals last year locally Taunton town have a home fixture of Truro in the Southern League Premier Division Bristol Sam Jeffries is taking a break from professional rugby as he continues his recovery from a long term knee injury the 26 year old has been out for more than a year and will take on a player liaison role with the club at the Rugby World Cup England's defense coach John Mitchell says he doesn't see any advantage in opponents spying on training sessions this comes after head coach Eddie Jones says he spotted someone filming from an apartment block overlooking that pitch England of course take on the champions New Zealand in the Wildcat semifinals on Saturday speaking earlier the England like a Sam Underhill says they might see All Blacks Abhi to pull with any big game this or sense of occasions already there's the excitement already there in the background so I don't think it takes too much to get to another level in terms of physically or emotionally I think when you turn up in Germany speaking that's the I think the difficult thing is building up you know Peter the right time you know you know going over excited in the weeks you know getting carried away before the game . And I'll be back from 7 o'clock live from. Somerset 95.5. Feeling and never be lonely b.b.c. Somerset 6 connection on the way soon I will squeeze in a bit more music for you though from the Jonas Brothers and Hughes Corp before the news at 6 strictly news now though and still proudly flying the flag for the West is my countess am away month now she's been up towards the top of the leaderboard of course and in the dance off so how are her songs going for Halloween week well lucky beacon has been along to Longleat to meet Emma and her partner Allie ash to find out I think it says incredible thing I would probably it's the most extraordinary experience and take it have you as my teacher I'm going to May think of never dance in my life and the very public platform to go there and perform and and and yeah the whole new skill is much more than that it's not fun just dancing it's the whole. Well and sort of but I just make a sister such a special experience so I'm very grateful tweeting and I actually can honestly remember the names of I don't think we ever did and stuff and now but last week you know we have been working always say we work so hard every single day and progress from Am hour which judges see every single week is something that we sort of try to to do on the show to achieve on the show and the progress has been immense every single week but the competition is so tough every single couple when you watch the show on a Saturday from the crawlers area everybody everyone does an amazing job so it can be anyone in a dance of every week but I think the most important thing is that we came back with with an amazing than this with a beautiful Venus walls and. I'm a look beautiful in the driest posture was supposed mazing everything sort of came together beautifully and that's why I was so happy about it you can highlight. How people on the estates and getting sized. Everyone of sticky I love strictly enforce it and I mean it was just I just believe it appears for the one thing that all the best even as we can say lovely So you have had lots of lovely supportive message in a village school went down to the schools where the children had morning yeah had lots of chats around them and about them was out sort of in the soft play or and I'm everywhere closer to the children so when I'm out I have had lots of lovely chats of people who've enjoyed the show and enjoyed the dances and yeah it's always nice to hear I think urging things so intense you don't know you from the inside you can't really tell so you just we just work work work and then it's all about that one performance everything knife sets are member of the 1st week one when I came up here it was it was dark when I didn't want to drive in but in the morning when I woke up it's like a little fairy fairy tale wherever you go you know you look at the state it's beautiful the house is absolutely beautiful but what I love. The most is the piece because normally when we were Percy in London for Strictly. You sort of right in the middle of it there is events to go to every night there's different things you have to add to attend by this person as you leave London for training you sort of feel like you can focus soley on on on the job in front of you and that's why I think probably one of the reasons why we why we have been doing so good so Forest is that we are here and we can just dance or there every single day plus this little village hall it's as perfect to mention the industry level which is incredible it's like it's amazing and I really really love it here I mean it's a beautiful use of a slice of heaven. The very act of doing that is taking risks with people's lives and truly horrific things have happened Boris Johnson has met the Labor leader Jeremy Corbin to discuss a possible new timetable for his bright. Legislation but the 2 have failed to reach an agreement last night and piece rejected the government's attempts to get the belt through the Commons in just 3 days the European Union is now considering extending the BRICs it at line beyond the end of this month the Liberal Democrats hemp a Sarah want to stand here used to be a conservative says the electorate should in some form have the final say My preference is for this to be separated off so that we can just to this issue and we can do that through people's vote but I accept that it could also call a general election so we simply don't know where we'll get to until we know what the exact extension is for the new and what the Prime Minister's decision is or indeed the leader of the opposition who could actually pull of a turn the conference a social worker is to be based at accident and emergency departments in Somerset ahead of winter another will be in the ambulance control room we can't council says it's trying to prevent unnecessary admissions to hospital Tim by the stock is the Council's assistant director of adult social cat he thinks the social work at Yeovil district and Musgrave Park hospitals will be helpful a social worker in any department who is bound to see at least 10 people awake in terms of that I can help and probably more and just I think that the advice to the staff here will be helpful because I don't necessary have that link every day at the moment freestanding scaffolding is.
