Honestly there are no arms control treaties that would restrict. This kind of development at this point and arms control as an enterprise is in danger at this point the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty that restricted intermediate range cruise missiles and ballistic missiles just. I would argue that the new START treaty benefits the national security of both countries of the world and should be extended I think it will increase the dangers considerably if we are back for the 1st time in half a century IT world with no restraints at all. U.S. And Russian nuclear weapons at the same time however the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty which tries to limit the spread of nuclear weapons to additional countries well politically controversial with many countries is still working well we have. More countries with nuclear weapons today than we had 30 years ago having said that how was Russia after the unraveling of the Soviet empire managed to start competing with the United States for for nuclear power again how was it managed to come. You know almost taken his back to cold will situation where it is actually a tit for tat defensive response from both sides how does he manage to get it all them and steam above to the Cold War there was that also after they did think of the US is you know there was that period where they didn't have any money to even you know keep up their nuclear submarines and so on but now they said. So Russia's economy has recovered and President Putin has devoted substantial resources to the defense budget it's also clear that nuclear weapons pack an enormous amount of power into each weapon one bomb can destroy a city like the thousands of bombs that would require with conventional weapons and so if you were defense budget is a lot smaller than the US defense budget as rushes it is you may well choose to concentrate on nuclear weapons to make sure that you have an adequate. Turned against the United States almost all of the new weapons Russia is seeking to develop appeared to be designed to overcome U.S. Missile defenses and one way or another to make sure that Russia would still be able to threaten the United States to make sure that its States didn't blackmail or attack Russia is there anything that the U.S. Can do in response to the world seems to be the development of a new generation of cruise missiles. So I'm not sure that a response is needed. A new. Cruise missile doesn't threaten the survivability of U.S. Nuclear forces it means Russia can hit the United States of nuclear weapons but Russia could its United States its nuclear weapons Bush sure do you know that states needs to make judgments about what forces it needs for its own defense and security and those judgments are only partly related to what nuclear weapons Russia chooses to built we have to remember that the United States defense budget is still several times the defense budget of Russia and eat the United States as defense budget is roughly the size of the next 15 countries defense budgets combined and many of those countries are U.S. Allies. So while there is a budding nuclear arms competition and nuclear dangers are definitely rising requiring more effort to rebuild arms control nonetheless it's not a situation where Russia is in any sense getting ahead of the United States Professor thank you really appreciate that very informative. Did support these groups to support President Hadi. And even some to many activists said that not dealing with these Southern separatists was a ticking time bomb. France's itself is something of a power broker in the region but it. It's playing a dangerous game there isn't well so far Turkey has not entered much into the Yemeni fray this is you know Saudi Arabia and U.A.E. Are no friends of Turkey's for sure and they're the ones that are really leading this war in Yemen and the WHO these as I said have been supported loosely by Iran since the beginning of this war and Turkey itself is generally just against us. Whether they be hospitals or just clinics so even basic medical supplies are often very scarce for those who are either sick or injured so it's it's it's just continues and it doesn't you know there's been a ceasefire data. That seems to have somewhat stuck but this really complicates any chance of a future peaceful negotiation agreement which is what the international community and the U.N. The president announcing this would have been if he hadn't had a track record it what people perceive as being anti immigration policies if you denounce this without that track record would people who've understood would it made sense to people would it have had put you to support maybe if you had laid the groundwork if you explained it if you gave some statistics as to beforehand how many people who come here who are people residents but who need what we call green cards in the United States how many of them do need Medicaid or food stamps and here's the thing about Medicaid Medicaid is the insurance policy that not only the medically needy years but when you are a senior citizen in the United States and you've gone through all your money you might have been middle class and now you're in a nursing home and you've run out of all your money the government program that pays for you is Medicaid lot of people don't think of it like that but that's one of the programs that does take care of seniors and in our society so.
