Doing even more since the report was was written or the inspection was done and we have a long way to go particularly around making things better for staff has a lot to do with mental health staff in the trust and there's also a lot more to do for patients so good report really really happy good motivator but there's still a lot more we can do a group of Gypsies and Travellers could be moved from a site to make Glastonbury Mendip District Council has got a court order requiring everyone apart from 12 individuals to move off the land it ends on the former mall in sight some of the group have been on the site for more than 10 years customary town council and the George says meeting them on meeting them could cause problems and if. Documentary we'll hear all about that before 530 festival am and self in the Southwest face appalling levels of violence and harassment inspectors from the cat Quality Commission have highlighted the problem in their latest report but praised workers for their care and integrity those inspectors have also raised to southwest and Amberley. Trust's rating to good but say response times are still a problem and that the trust needs more ambulances in order to make them I'm joined now by our health correspondent Jenny All right Jenny Good afternoon the inspectors were largely positive What did they say Oh good afternoon yes they said that the trusted achieved a lot in the last 2 years and made a number of changes since the last inspection in 2016 now inspectors said they were trying to reduce admissions to hospital and help patients get the right service who they need to do there was still work to do and that they talked about them safe staffing levels morale rising they praised leadership and talked about a strong commitment to improving the quality of service the coordination that they had with other services innovation proactive approach to reviewing and improving quality in safety but some of the greatest praise was reserved for staff who acted they said with integrity compression and kindness towards their patients and went above and beyond a multiple occasions the Chief Executive Ken when Mint told me about some of the things that he was most proud of every single day there's something that happens I hear about a Makes me even more proud than a day before for being part of this organization So one example was a member of our staff had a patient that was suffering with dementia she was very anxious very stressed the why she managed to calm her down was just to get out a phone imply something a song from Vera Lynn to calm the lady down completely and she was able to treat them properly another incident was where. A patient was pallete if that is that they were at the end of their life they didn't have any relatives in the house or in the home no one to call on a member staff stay beyond the shift period for 5 hours to how that person's hand until he actually died those sorts of things are happening every day incredible story said Jenny and of course they should be applauded for that there were though areas that needed improvement whether they That's right it is a good report but there are always things that can improve Now the concerns that the inspectors had included the trust failing to meet the standard response times to reach patients although this was improving to the most urgent category. But inspectors admit that move ramblin says a required to ensure people receive that level of service that is needed and of course that comes down to money now security was another issue of premises vehicles medicines and patient knows they said that some medicines were out of date and that they weren't always disposed of correctly inspectors also said that the needs of frequent callers were not always middle of the trust's as it is working on that with other agencies but one thing that is shocking is that those Stauffer are being praised for being so caring are facing a high level of reported violence bullying abuse and harassment from members of the public and the Care Quality Commission is head of hospital inspections for the Southwest memory Krige highlighted that it is quite incredible what the ambulance crews have to face and the people manning the phones in the operations centers our inspectors were appalled by the abuse that some of the staff gods and how well the staff dealt with that but it's true to say ambulance crews on the ground can face violence from members of the public when they're attempting to aid patients and there are situations where the police have to be called I think this is a problem that we should all be concerned about and as a society address that the people who come to us in our hour of greatest need do not deserve to face violence and abuse when they are seeking to help us Jenny we had a little bit from the chief executive earlier what else does the trust have to say in response well I think generally the trust is very pleased because it acknowledges the areas and buses acknowledges I was rather that the where there are still problems and the Chief Executive Ken women says they are already working on many of those issues we know that we've been doing even more since the report was was written or the inspection was done and we have a long way to go particularly around making things better for staff has a lot to do with mental health for staff in the trust and there's also a lot more to the patients report really really happy good motivator but there's still a lot more we can do Southwest trusts Chief Executive Ken. Somerset news travel weather coming up and you know what student holes of residence they used to be more details on that coming up in the next 20 minutes or so. Now a man from Somerset who tragically lost his younger sister Harriet's in an actual accident last year is sharing how he coped with grief in a new B.B.C. Documentary The former X. Factor star and Union J. Band member George Shelley grew up in the county and went to school in Cheddar and now he hopes his story will help other young people who are dealing with grief now this is part of the documentary where George talks about what it will be like going back onstage and what kind of emotion to be able to. Keep keep everything together and harder for together or a difficult performance I want to. Know the whole time I'm going to think about what is going offstage and like seeing everyone and there's just going to be one person that. Isn't there and that's just that's something I'm going to have to deal with but I can't let that fear of being scared of toxic after after a. Stop me from doing it and George joins me now George Good afternoon Can I start by saying how sorry I am for what you've been through and actually that we're not talking in the nicest circumstances I know this isn't easy to go 3. What made you want to share your story don't seem to have George on the line then after all that's a shame we seem to have lost him I tell you what we do try to get him back and we'll have a chat with him after David Bowie Mick Jagger. Willow Somerset. So we were talking about this B.B.C. Documentary former Union J. Band member X. Factor star George Shelley lost his younger sister in the accident last year and he's sharing how he coped with grief in a new B.B.C. Documentary hopefully we can actually talk to him now George just checking you there 1st is you still there hello hi yeah. Yeah I'm good I want to know what you heard earlier but I was saying it's a shame that we're not talking and under nice circumstances we had a little clip of you back stage did you find that this was part of the of the grieving process for you so I guess it's just a bit weird that's like a note or did you find that doing this documentary was part of your grieving process if you like. You know I was in a really weird place. And doing this really kind of 2 different type mechanisms. Out there and it's like siblings shrink which is set up by siblings for siblings who lost siblings and it was really really beautiful to see how they're dealing in London and they have they've learned to use and I don't really know you know being right now if I hadn't done this because I've learned so much about it and become more comfortable talking about it as times go it's very easy in the sort of 2nd chances to slip into very dark places and I'm guessing that that's that's why you're trying to get this message across to younger people because everybody every age has to go through grief at some point exactly and in this situation unfortunately it was it was it came soon after me than I thought I had hoped and expected obviously my sister was my best friend shares ways with me spend every day have a life saver basically. Like. Up in London with me sir. If you say we're going to have together and I think that when it's a tragic loss when it's such a shock accident. Can you kind of say it's so easy to go into denial and use skate prism as a coping mechanism and that's what I did for a long time and it's a slippery slope of kind of myself up and down I don't like to think of wellbeing now as I have I don't know if I thinks it was a B.B.C. Man support me because I've been I've been gray and I've just been lucky to have my friends and my family. By my side the whole way through support me or like through yeah you know and that's been a really tough thing to do you know now I can I can completely understand where you're coming from we see emotional and only species in the documentary we had a piece earlier when you clearly upset was was it easy to capture that on camera and keep the message that you wanted to know. I guess up and so now in my career more I've done this kind of. Been a little bit more I just want to take off the oxygen removal of the show this from life and just just show people what it's really been like over the last year maybe . There was no other way of. Doing it being really really hurts me honestly and you know making that decision to share that side of me and that side of my life was a big big choice and it was easily made because when you do the European yourself up to criticism and judgment but that's part of that like being told to man up and being so it's stop being a listen stop quite we need to we need to like course there's not be afraid of showing emotion because if you if you care for him being. Not processing these emotions you end up suppressing them up and send his later in life they develop into serious mental health issues I mean like the stop that I read before just before. Starting the filming the documentary was like things under a quarter of people under the age of 24 in the U.K. Who take their own lives have suffered a brief and in most cases it's fight so and to spread the message especially to young people and young men in particular it's OK to express your emotions and it's OK so just just push the fact that if you don't have someone to talk to that there is support out there whether it's these like charities or groups that you can go to so it's so important that we understand how we're feeling and understand the correct coping mechanisms to use to move forward and otherwise. You just end up like shutting off for such a long time. Yeah I'm so passionate about wanting to share that message and even if it's like even if it means I can say it's anybody that's true whether it's online. Or these groups I want to carry and start talking at groups and stuff and be up to share my experience because I learned so much for meeting other people and that was that was one of them must say was for me I mean in the setting the show I saw one go he was 4 months down the line in the grieving process you lost a brother for months or. Time and there was another guy who lost a brother 4 years ago and to see the difference on the different stages they are in the grieving process for me that was so powerful and helps everybody that's working about it. And again the most interesting. Trait was they were all females there wasn't any males there and they're saying it's like 70 percent female up there they're scared of showing emotion and showing weakness and vulnerability but there's. You learn a lot about yourself and the people around you if you if you're able to express their emotions. George we're going to leave it there you're doing such a grand job and I know that you're getting something very positive out of such an awful accident but thank you for being able to come on and talk to us about tonight George Shelley that learning to grieve is available to watch on B.B.C. 3 from Sunday which is the 30th of September. Coming up and traveling on the way before 6 Now student tolls of residence and what they used to be you know these days students can expect to be offered all suite bathrooms comfortable beds even universities have been increasingly turning to develop as to build their accommodation in many cases not cheap so we come ways been finding out what today's 1st year student digs look like. The promotional video for the V A skyscraper in the center of. The students to live in. Privately owned it's almost a swanky is a boutique hotel. The penthouses cost nearly 10000 pounds a year so I ask you when you show me the right person well yes. You get your own suite Well this week with your it's a man's car and toilet and sink and everything in it as well as really no no no it's really really nice and then you get a double bed as well which I mean you can't really complain about Saskia and Eve's own sweet Reims cost $6.00 and a half 1000 pounds a year and that's not catered so I'm easy and soft and you know from Belfast because of this over the past. I think it's one of the most expensive holes that there is but it is a large as ours it is though it's like they say you know it's I think it's 140 a week or something whereas I have friends and things that are in Liverpool and they don't get a college Asian cheaper than 160 a week you're happy with this but given what you've just said all the cities are more expensive Do you sometimes wonder whether students are getting bit rich often with this oh yeah yeah they damn well personally I think the area. Judging by his coming in and out of the lips the view is attracting a lot of foreign students why did you have to travel from day one and this is your daughter yes it was you know I should say it's a beautiful accommodation idea it's like a dream got Drew far better for us as parents you know. What's striking here in New Castle is just how many shiny new student blocks have recently gone up in the center of the city I was just about right it was your city right outside the new I'm told there's a party atmosphere is most likely to be found at the rather more traditional heel of a. Residents passing loses. A child. Hey now she's just arrived from OK so you're going to go. OK that's a different I mean it's just not going to have more room as well as the cupboards and it's plain you're paying just had 5 grand does a feel like a loss on the spectrum of like university accommodation sounds quite vacated as well that's pretty good with 42000 students in the city these purpose built slots may well be needed the question is What does the rest of the city's population of concentrating so many students in the center so we call my reporting. Say with the sport now and in football Bristol City's game against Aston Villa will kick off 15 minutes later tomorrow night Dan why is that while it would give people extra time to get there because the game is heading towards a sun like a pass to rationing gate so it when our kickoff at 8 o'clock of course if you're going to expect your biggest gate of the season so far and you move it back it just gives everyone a chance to get their seats before plenty of time before kickoff there would of course be commentary here on B.B.C. Now after years of discussions about development in fire pole the company behind the plans has decided to walk away from the partnership with the council so moderns been partners with Taunton Deane Barr accountable for the fire police site for the past 9 years John Williams is the leader of Taunton Dene bar accountable and said it was the right time for this to happen I see this is a natural break it is better that they give in rather than continue when they've stated their trading model has changed so it would have been a lot lot worse had they started development and then decided to pull or this gives us the opportunity to re-evaluate what is going there and something I hear very often coming from the community think again we started off with a scheme that was a strategic employment sort and it was approved by all cancers and it ticked all the boxes for government. Then the recession started in 2008 and nothing moved for 5 years in that time we thought we realized it was not going to move so we reevaluated in had the Taunton town center to rethink and that's where we are now with the mixed I think an excellent mix you ski we could have held them to it but we decided it was better to be in control of our own destiny and eyes I still believe that is genuinely the the right way to go Of course I'm worried I want to deliver what the community want and what is good for Taunton but I can assure you there's been no lack of effort in bringing this forward we're making sure we've got all the i's dotted and t's crossed so there's no delays we can go out and speak to developers and get on with it John Williams leader of Taunton Dean barrack outsole Nigel P.S. Is the president of the Chamber of Commerce in Taunton I think it's just really disappointing it's a big blow to the tell her. To begin to cause more delays with the project and I think despite the Friday of you know views as to what should go on to the site I think the thing that pulls everybody together is it needs to happen it just needs to move forward quickly as do you have any concerns therefore about the site's future because it doesn't look great it doesn't provide a great impression on the town and I some of it started to look better Absolutely but it's not what you want to see long term is it or it isn't and it's you know it's I think the focus is on that's our center whatever the outcome of this the future prosperity of the Taylor centers got to be taken on account of it you know it's seen as a competition but I think the impact is also on the business community as a whole because I think you've got to you know firms in the town here are actually looking to invest trying to attract the right people for their jobs. You need a vibrant and good tale center in order to allow him to track that having this sort of direct flight continually in the background is it's not the right or the right impression talking is trying to give now and you mentioned business is What about tourists as well if you know fortunately the location of this it's very near the train station it's one of the 1st things a lot of people are likely to see when they do come into the the town it's perhaps not the greatest 1st impression ever is it you know I was and I think with the investment in the railway station it takes off you know great big importance and I think what comes across quite often actually is if you can get people to get into the towers and people are generally quite impressed with them we've talked to some of them quite surprised but as you say the initial sort of view when they arrive is it's not good that has a detrimental effect on that on the whole town area really leave them account for the quoted saying The council should go back to the drawing board is not a worry. I think it is in terms of time scale and I think the problem with it is I mean the you know the situation has changed considerably since this whole scheme was 1st thought of 10 years ago when the whole situation with retail was changed dramatically I think the worst case scenario would be that if it became a competition with the town center I know there are you know it's a situation of another town where you've had a similar situation and you end up with the with the situation where people from the town center move into the new development and you end up with a half are for town center half full development would be really not what we want I think with a lot of proposals in terms of trying to get sort of real pleasure and entertainment on to the sites which I think would be great I think the problem is where is the investment going to come from. I think. The funding for and I think along that is the question of all. Nigel Pearce the president of the Chamber of Commerce in Taunton. Almost Somerset for you because there's no place like.
