Radio host 1st very much Chris let's have a look at the traffic and travel Max what's happening it's busy already this morning p. One lane close on the southbound and 6 that's between junction 13 for Stafford south and Junction 12 for Gailey is because of a broken down vehicle very slow in that stretch also slow moving on the southbound m 16 junction 20 for the main to change and junction 19 for notes that that's in the road works area so you've got the narrow lanes and speed restrictions of 50 miles per hour slowing down and then you've got a road work starting today in Shelton on the northbound a $52.00 St That's closed between Copeland Avenue and leek road but the road remains open for traffic travelling from the leak road towards the town center but missed anything needin give me a call 17822008 double 08 Morgan in the morning. Hello it is Morgan in the morning good morning welcome Hello It is Monday the 5th of September and we're with you through until 10 o'clock this morning so coming up on the show we're going to be talking about bricks a what are we now but just over 10 weeks since the bricks in vogue what happened. The reason we're talking about it is obviously over the weekend the reason may be that the g. 20 conference saying to everybody there they have you thought about the u.k. Where the business thanks very much and when we leave the e.u. And where we enter kind of the free market we have a company where the country you're going to want to do trade with. But is she the right person to be doing that is she the person who can sell Britain well. And your thoughts on Bracks it as well I mean 10 weeks in. Really nothing's happened there's been lots of talking going on there's been no action really nothing to. As 801782208 double I we're going into last today is also my birthday which mention thank you mountain is very. Kind I thank you as well for a lovely messages and kind of post and messages on social media and things that are very very sweet really you don't need to very very lovely but I so want to know this morning. What does the 5th of September mean to you know what it means to me but what does it mean to you what does it have a particular date in your life in your mind. Let's try and get as tenuous as we can with this. Well it was the day that I 1st saw a cucumber or I mean I don't know whatever. Whatever your connection is will have a little bit of that. We've got a challenge acres as well this morning. And the 1st that will this week is kind of when the kids go back to school because of the accident and you'll go back to life on the day when so is it walk a teacher training daily call them bake a days they're not show yet. All right Ok so it takes training days then they're back on Wednesday so a lot of kids going about this week. So what did you get up to obvious summer holidays let's say your stories on that please we'll be talking strictly as well very excited about the return of the over the weekend and of course anything else you want to check into the pot always good to anything going on by you anything happening in your community anything you're concerned about anything your over the moon of. Letters now 017822008 double 08 is the number to call you can text 81 triple for a start your message with the words. Accustomed to. Proud of where we live b.b.c. Radio stuff. And a half minutes past 7 so just over 10 weeks ago now I mean the the nation in their millions went to vote in the e.u. Referendum. And nationally 52 percent of people chose for Britain to leave the e.u. In Stoke on Trent overwhelmingly I mean 69 percent of people voted to leave since that how I remember it vividly was obviously on air on the Friday morning but we were on between 6 and 10 and it was mate and it was our political reporter James Bovill and your staff a political reporter James Bovill and Mick temple a professor of journalism and politics at Stanford University Saturday talking about it and as the morning on unfolded almost every hour was something new that was coming out we have a new prime minister that's happened over the past 10 weeks there has been disappearances and reappearances of some of the big players in the leave campaign I mean really Boris Johnson is the big name you know we thought he'd drop tanks of politics altogether only to be appointed the foreign secretary and negotiations regarding his leaving the e.u. Are really only just beginning even though from the moment she was appointed prime minister to resign mayor said listen we are leaving the you bricks it means bricks it I just think that phrases outlived its usefulness now and we need to kind of crack on and get things done if we're going to do it the ceramics industry and staff which are there calling on the government to protect pottery firms in any trade agreements as the theory is that if Britain leaves the single market it could trigger tariffs on exports Dr Laura Cowen who was also with us last Friday morning is the chief executive of the British ceramics Confederation we've currently got an incredible number of trade deals through the we can't just reinvent the or overnight it's going to take time to establish that we've got a ceramics all party parliamentary group and active and we need to continue to campaign on behalf of the business. In their constituency at least Aslan runs a pottery illustrations company in middle Portland is on the line now Lisa good morning good morning just as a little bit more than what do you make I'm like. 19th century style ceramic that I make from my studio middle Radhika looking at the referendum then 10 weeks on hand say it or how has it had an impact on your costs on the way you are doing business. But 31 half weeks after the referendum I had an e-mail from one of my suppliers actually you actually buy from China from a local company and I put my hand in mine on to them yes email basically that you get because of that. But I think we're going up in September and they've given us a warning opportunity is going to happen and they're very sorry this is going to happen but obviously it was going to do you sorry do you do you export your products as well you know I don't export my products but I buy in some regulate China write your import cereals right yes Ok that's so that's going to be coming in well this month. Right Ok so how. I'm guessing does that mean that's something you're going to have to pass on as well yes it is because you're buying individual pieces. I buy mugs I buy jug each single item obviously has a cost and each item cost going up by about $30.00 a quarter and so as a small business are the only thing going and that they have the medical. Obviously I'm going to have to pass on the price of those cars my customers. Where I mean before the referendum came about Lisa was was the result something that concerned you at all. Yes the result made me very anxious made me very worried mainly because being a person that works in Stoke on Trent and it's a wonderful place was around mix looking at the impact potentially in the future on export costs for major businesses the impact locally on finances has always been my concern obviously meaning people coming in will have less money to spend. And what do you I mean we've already heard from Dr Cohen this morning and what she's asking for do you think there's any realistic chance of of that being listened to because I'll say my mind all I'm thinking is is if that one type of of business is asking for it which really all types of business going to be asking for protection I think yes ultimately that all business will will have to ask for protection I think what you're saying about having some kind of customs union whereby trade agreements can be made individually or as a group for the ceramics industries are absolutely right she protect jobs but obviously it's going to take a very very long time and interest to actually get to the bottom of unraveling any of these agreements Yeah I mean you know I think the latest estimate we were given is for the actual departure from the e.u. We're certainly not looking before the end of next year so this is you know this is really a good kind of certainly 15 months ahead of all those to see a little bit more of of what's coming do you as well as obviously Dr Cohen kind of working on your behalf regarding your business is there anything you can do to kind of prepare yourself regard you know apart from put your project up because there's been price increases passed on to you. I don't think so really I think we're all going to be waiting for a very very long time it's not just going to be about next year I mean if you look at estimates from people who work. Thank you. For us to be able to actually understand. Ok really appreciate you spending some time with us this morning let's keep in touch and as we get nearer and I was more things happen let's kind of talk a little bit more about about kind of the impact on you because I'll be interested to say particularly you know the small businesses out there how they're affected by it. Slain speaking to this morning runs a pottery illustrations company in middle port want to hear from you as well on their stories. Out of the g. 20 in China just really big you know the u.k. The person to do it is going to have any effect on your thoughts on you know Lisa says she's already noticed the difference have you won 7 double 0815 minutes past 7 b.b.c. Radio Stoke Let's get the latest news headlines Monday morning here's Chris King stuff which is ceramics in the streets calling on the government to strike a deal to protect. The u.k. Leaves the e.u. It with loads your mom has made me a cake yes she has the House That Jack Built exactly my wife has done nothing but bikes since Friday afternoon this incredible array of cakes and this is all just the salad it's all a bit of a health kick start a bit of a health kick so there's barely any of those kegs I can have so what the little I'm going to have a little bit of your mom's cake because the thing that would really not only did it grow cause the house is a little button yes it is a little sweets and things on that the to make it you know just a bit but it's not it's made into a house and it's on grass she can have the grass because that's I mean it's not really grass it's desiccated Coconut the main died green and so healthy. From the doctor's note some sort of got a broken nose to fructify sockets fracture some before had fractures to the rear base of my skull. From 63 numbers feeling slowly coming back with. Some a little damage to my eyes themselves book the frock sheets of the sockets is kind of protected the eyes moving down and I've got 2 broken 2 fractured ribs on the right and on the left it sounds like I've got a couple of fractures to verse of right but it's not kind of a block spinal loading of the vertebrae that's causing a problem it's more where the vertebrae become rib so good let me just a couple of millimeters further on it would have been rips. How are you still here talking to us after all that are without dop I don't see where and how much. The bar for some Sometimes I was offered because she has a home. The 1st couple of photo showed it fractured along one of the ribs to come and then move forward and then some of the photos she was finally able to take a self in the sense of me showed it's for is fractured in several places and I can only imagine if you transfer those fractures from the helmet to that for my skull. Be a completely different story what can you remember about the crash itself hardly anything . But cycled from home through Biddulph to Congleton and then down the $34.00 from constant to kids going which is usually so it can be a busy faster road but it's a very wide It's a lovely clear day. And although the accident occurred in Scala green coming up towards amounts on off. My memories my memories blank right back to. I do have a vague recollection of a car having pulled out on me from a side road and thinking I've got no where to go on it's impossible to stop and looking at some g.p.s. Data from a bike computer it suggests the tried to turn to to avoid the back of the car but it stopped in my lane and I caught the back of it but for the helmet I don't think I had talking to I don't think I'll put it well cycling book. I think I'll approach junctions in a completely different one and in the future b.b.c. Radio Stoke John Akers with his next door neighbor Dave Potts who put he's he's very survival down to just a simple cycling helmet and I am always amazed when I see people riding without the muscle a couple of people yes they're going pretty fast with no helmet on and I just I am always a go get it coming up before 830 we'll talk a little bit more about this will speak to a guy who teaches people how to cycle safely to find just just how dangerous our roads are and what we can do if you're a cyclist to avoid getting into an accident it is Morgan in the morning it's b.b.c. Radio Stoke 90 minutes away let's get the latest on the traffic and travel Max what's going on it's still very busy out there at the moment paid very slow on the southbound m 6 between junction 13 for staff at South and Junction 12 for Gateway we've got a broken down lorry there at that East closing lane once a causing get all kinds of problems on the m 6 also heavy in the talks to this morning the eastbound a 50 that's partially blocked at the a 52 to pertain because of a broken down vehicle and also there's been an accident in Stoke on Trent the a 5 or 9 Frys would ride the a 53 private road police are on the scene we'll get more information on that as it comes through and then the Western Corney road is blocked in both directions now because of an accident involving a motorbike and a car that was need to Western fields bank and then we've got road works in Shelton they start today in the north and a 52 you believe street that's closed between Copeland Avenue and leek road but the road does remain open for traffic that is travelling from the lake road towards the town center pub missed anything then give me a call 178-2208 double 08 thanks very much Max on the way talking bricks it to reason May's going to the g. 20 conference telling everyone how great the u.k. Is and how. No one should be frightened about us coming out of the u. Is he working though how are we going to be fairing We'll talk more about that just after 8 o'clock this morning keeping staff a cheery Cheshire on the travel news every 20 minutes b.c. Radio stuff. 17 minutes to 8 people getting in touch being very sweet and offering me birthday Congratulations my mom has been in touch which is now I. Know. I don't speak to Professor Marcie big and say just tell a tele tell him I set up a birthday which is nice not lovely thanks very much also Sylvia Varian correspondent has been in touch on Twitter as well saying I lately about one good girl. Which I'm hoping is happy birthday Otherwise I may have offended an awful of but. Maybe I should have checked it out 1st but I think it is I think that means doesn't mean happy birthday to anyone speaks German There is no. Business in the Bush put it all in capitals which is why I kind of shame said it. Exactly it's all it's all in capital that's the thing with German I mean French and Italian and Spanish. And you know. Yeah there's a certain lyrical kind of you know so I love you know. We and all our kind of thing whereas in Germany did I love you it really is alright Cause I'm going to get annoyed about it so I think it's part of the same with that with Happy birthday as well. Say for me thanks very much indeed I've got a birthday present it's been sent to the station do I open it yes absolutely cool she did a. Let me have you gone already. Let me go. I'm not going to meet now no no I say well he's just going to do the headlines and then we'll do is try for the headlines this may go horribly wrong so I genuinely don't know what it is so all I can say is we don't nice and if you something we can't talk about I'm just going to say nothing all right Ok I said Look we'll get into in a 2nd well if it's a pact if it's a pet we're in trouble because it's been a week. So. So unless like a cockroach which can live you know without any food or water for a fair amount and given a shake now I don't want to do that in case it's something fragile. I'm. Going to show you will find out what it is. In a couple of minutes right b.b.c. Radio show 15 minutes away let's get the latest news headlines for Monday morning here's Chris recalls for the government to protect staff which is ceramics industry when it negotiates Britain's exit from the e.u. The prime ministers cast doubts on the idea of a points based immigration system after break states and in sports token England goalkeeper Jack Butland will undergo a minor operation on his ankle later thanks very much Chris weather was rubbish this morning better this afternoon talk temperature 21 Celsius 70 degrees Fahrenheit will have a full update with Kerry in the next 5 minutes for that sakes it was an opportunity of only that we just couldn't afford to. Go in the margins in the. Fact That will be interesting to see. Today's big stories from Stoke City Vale and crew Alexandra. In the Dutch folks who are really watching our team win a playoff final in the top 6 and of the season the sequel yet used to win many games over the past few years and change the level of confidence sports it 6 week nights on b.b.c. Radio. We go excellent stuff 13 minutes from now Kane. I don't message for this is from recall Mike who I've known since I was here a b.b.c. Radio Stoke last time so there's about 9 years that we've now and so he sent me this is sent an email sent of saying you something for your birthday and he said something like It's not really expensive but it's the thought that counts right Ok and now I get a bit nervous this is quite big I mean it is it's about the size if I didn't know better I would say this box was a parachute yes kind of a pair of shoes maybe a bit bigger than what I was thinking of like a like a Barbie doll you know that kind of size box sorry I'm just trying to take it they didn't get the microphone so I bought that kind of size box so right so we're going to open this and genuinely if you hear. This music. That means there's something in it that we can talk about and. Just just be aware. If Wait wait a minute. Right well the box is some clean fresh life and you. Know I'm sure that's not what it's. So because. It's a Captain Morgan 6. This is the governor surname Morgan you do you get I mean not how it's far too small for me not for barely fit on my face no mom I had bought anything else that's Morgan related you always get kind of you know comments about it so apparently I am related to Captain Morgan of Captain Morgan room fame also the sports car. Goes on as well and we went to see a magic act on Saturday night called Morgan in West who are very gored and they're on top of the moment if you get a chance to punch you know they they are Victorian magicians and very good and they do I think they did some stuff on c.b.c. And they've got a new show coming up on on i.t.v. On this year but yes so immediately they latched on to it was as people participate because my name was Morgan but yes Captain Morgan hat which is very nice thank you very much as I say I really don't think I'm going to try it but I really don't think it's going to fit all no it just kind of just reacts just kind of is on my head to get close to my think me that I'm like and even though much my kind it will be doing drugs it's actually absolutely almost bald on it much as your cup of you want to try it on then you will you try it on my cell get a picture of you without some you're going to let me let me know you need to get to come tomorrow to the front you need to know because that's that's going to mean you need to get one of those to the from oh yeah you know what. I mean getting it out of there we go. Really well listen Mike if you're listening thank you so much for so sweet That's very kind of we have been very nervous about opening up because we genuinely weren't sure. What was going to be. Good when asking you what does the 5th September mean to you. Joyce and Logan had said happy birthday appreciate your day with me have a great day Oh Joyce if it's your birthday today we're off to give you the birthday song choice from a log I had something of a great day. Well done Joyce my time brings up this aloud today. I've turned the volume up on it that's what I was. Yeah. Ok I mean crew says happy birthday today and happy birthday tomorrow to my sister Karen in Blackpool for 35 years she celebrated her birthday on the 6 or 7 times then someone looked at a birth certificate and it says she was born on the face. Rather disagree with that but whatever the era came from you have to go with the day on the certificate so now she has 2 birthdays to compensate have a great day sell off a fantastic day care and enjoy your day this is the thing. Because I was born under a wondering star I was indeed I was born on the face and. My gran's but so my mom's mom was also on the face right now I was born. Half past 11 at night and there's always been a sneaking part of me thinks that actually I was born in the 6th but my mom's gone now I was born on the face because it be the same as her mom's may be part and that's what he wants and yeah that's what she's doing no you know honestly it was just before midnight. She says oh it was awful Evan quarter to 12. There we go right over to the Weather Center Ok is that the weather since Carrie good morning good morning oh you're ice but Ty is Balraj Sahni it's. Been Well our Charlie's poorly. Should be here when I'm working elsewhere basically they won't do anything jobs wait one second I'm gone static you of all the jobs I do a radio don't I said no no no Ok I'm awfully sorry I thought you literally sat in a cupboard until they were activated and came to speak to waltz. And then you do some bait for the telly people but no one's actually because everyone's like. Mean you know exactly we just look at America definitely our life miserable this morning better this afternoon but the thing I'm more interested in is how that's all going to change as we head towards Tuesday as we were going to get dry air as we go through Tuesday so. We've got basically we're in warm sector and that means that there's a lot of moisture in the air which is why at the minute we've got a lot of cloud out and about and we did have some rain last night naturally and through this morning could still see some patch outbreaks of mostly light rain and drizzle mainly over the hills. As we had through this morning and into this afternoon when I mean most of us will be dry but we are still going to hold on to a lot of the clouds so quite cloudy skies the wind will stay quite light temperatures will be about 19 degrees 66 pound high tonight it's going to be a very muggy night comfortable conditions temperatures really not much dropping off from daytime highs down to. 1718 degrees so quite uncomfortable conditions overnight and then again tomorrow morning 5 o'clock with that drier air we should see breaking with a better chance of seeing spells of sunshine stays dry through the day and with a light breeze so we'll get temperatures in the early twenty's very similar conditions for Wednesday at this stage so brightening up through the day spells of sunshine coming through 2nd conditions but there's a gorgeous spell the sunshine expected by then and feeling warm but then we look to the Atlantic by Friday and we start to get the winds strengthening and it's going to start to cool off towards the end of the week Excellent I'll let you go off and do your other things than a problem if they know what's going to really get it forget and speak to your other friends. Or I can speak to you like this guy groups and their the weather center just keeping us up to date just going out to Farley minutes to 8 you're getting in touch with talking talking about bricks eat when you thoughts on the reason why isn't about settling the u.k. The thing is with the reason she was was not particularly vocal person she was in the remain camp does that make her the best person to sell it does that mean she will because there's a lot of things that have changed since she started talking breaks a lot of things that don't seem to be coming about the leave campaign said would be coming about. So is she the best person to be dealing with this and to take us forward into Sal not necessarily know I no role as a prime minister but just the best person to sell the u.k. Abroad for when we leave the 01782208 double 08 is the number to call up this morning we're asking what does the 5th of September mean to you it's my birthday but what about you Kelly Winsford said a shabby birthday we recast like and also the day King George the 6th died that's never. You you know you don't see many people on a cake for that they are happy death of King George the 6th it didn't really it didn't really happen like that unfortunately but Rick Astley is at least 100 nuns which. You know I love doing this show genuinely and I hope that it comes across I love I love it when you get in touch and you ask for our help because I really like doing helping people and getting things sorted a little when you get in touch with your stories but I also love the random nature of some of the people who listen to the show and will never go away and please don't ever ever change when renunciate says how do they Moby I always think of the 5th of November when it's a for the September you know why. Their affairs breaks it could mean it has to pay more for exports Smith is from to name pottery in stone which experts 70 percent of its projects I think long term there are concerns around trade barriers different problems with trying to get into Europe because we'll be exporting in Europe before it was it was selling into the back to. The know we've been able to access into these and you can see more on this story on inside out West Midlands tonight at half past 7 on b.b.c. One well talk here of BRICs it's reason may has cast doubt on the idea of a points based immigration system after we leave the e.u. Speaking to journalists on the way to the g 20 summit in China she suggested she wasn't convinced it would work thousands of locals in Cali are expected to block access the port this morning they're calling for the closure of the migrant camp known as the jungle organizers believe around 80 lorries will be used to blockade one of the main routes into Cali Now this is why. Doco the u.k. Forward slashed. Travel update b.b.c. Radio host thanks Chris let's have a look at the traffic and travel Max what's going to see her busy out there this morning paid very slow on the southbound m 6 between junction 13 for stuff at South and Junction 12 for Gailey there's a broken down lorry there that's closing one lane causing a lot of problems also our sense is showing that the northbound m 16 to 17 percent batch and 18th the middle age that's a really slow as well is taking Jeff over 20 minutes to travel in that stretch also so in the south and a 500 d. Road around Paul Hill buying congestion 2 will stunted retail park. Heavy in Utah soon as well this morning the eastbound a 50 that was partially blocked at the a 5 t. To a party because of a broken down vehicle and also there's been an accident in Stoke on Trent on the a 519 Frys wood road that is the a 53 primary road police are on the scene dealing with that but it will slow you down this morning and in Western calling the road that that is blocked in both directions because of an accident it's involved a motorbike and a car that's need to Western feels buying very sober Gade in that area avoid it if you can and in Fenton the eastbound a 50 very heavy at the back to 365 stadium backed up to long turn and we've got a road we're starting today in Shelton the northbound a 52 street that's closed between Copeland Avenue and leak road but the road does remain open for traffic travelling from the lake road towards town center but missed anything a year then give me a call 178-2208 double 08. Morgan in the morning good morning welcome Hello it is Morgan in the morning b.b.c. Radio Stoke It's Monday the 5th of September with you through until 10 this morning . I said that like are forgotten when we normally finish a long hard knowing something over with you through until 10 but of a special on today not at all on the way talking bricks it's one your thoughts on this morning here we are 10 weeks in. And there are some breaks it is who are saying listen things are moving fast enough and not enough is going to be changing . The reason mayors come and talk about some of the things that was talked about with the leave campaign may not be happening or have certainly been very softened. As the negotiations start Boris Johnson of course was all for a points system regarding immigration absolutely straw man from the record that I'm going to be happening as far as to resume a treason maze concert. So with that in mind is she the right person to be going out and selling the u.k. To other countries and saying you can do trade with those when we leave the you. What your thoughts on that 017822008 double 08 is the number to call it is the 5th of September which is my birthday and thank you so much for all the lovely messages coming in but we want to know what does the 5th of September mean to you and I want it means to me but what about you what's your connection what's your thinking. And who do you share your birthday with because mine is Freddie Mercury Stan Laurel Michael Keaton Jack Daniels while I recal Welsh So what are you actually do you share your birthday with Ernest Hemingway and Robin Williams I do you know while that's not only stemming way possibly bought it Robyn Williams is an absolute belter I like that producer Matt Mark to Kim Jong il but it's not great it's not is it's not something you tell everybody is it let's hear from you on that as well 178220008 is the number to call text 81 triple 3 start the message with the word Stoke. And we want to also hear from you those are the numbers if there's anything else you want to check into the pot anything that you want to shout from the rooftops about anything that you want to get you getting frustrated about anything you think we can help with get in touch we'll see what we can do across time picture and proud of where we live b.b.c. Radio Stoke. 8 half minutes past 8 so here we are in just over 10 weeks since the u.k. Voted to leave the European Union and that decision the house being dominating talks at this year's g. 20 summit to resume a 1st international summit as prime minister. And what's happened is I think the talks I think the the the diplomatic political description would be interesting is how you would describe the talks a lot of other world leaders of been putting a fair bit of pressure on sarees a man just to to outline what the U.K.'s role is going to be once it leaves the Common Market to resume and met the Russian president Vladimir Putin and the u.s. President Barack Obama yesterday and I mean Barack Obama made it very clear that the America is in no rush to start trade talks with Britain Japan warning that the decision to leave the e.u. Could lead to Japanese companies moving their head offices out of the country. And series a May all the way through this is saying now I am focused on making bricks it a reality she has cast doubts as we've already said on whether or not the is going to be a points based system. Whether or not that is the right way to control immigration into the u.k. Once we leave the e.u. That point based system was backed by many leave campaigners during the referendum but the prime minister insists there is no soul of a bullet to redress the immigration issue this is what she told the b.b.c. Is untrue Mark I'm not going to pretend that it's all going to be plain sailing I think we must be prepared for the fact that maybe some difficult times ahead but what I am is optimistic and indeed this is what the message that came from the cabinet when we were sitting around the table at Checkers this week and talking about these things it's the same message I've had from businesses is an optimism about the future about the opportunities that are now open to the United Kingdom as we say the prime minister is coming under a fair bit of pressure to get a move on the conservative m.p. Ian Duncan Smith who was a leading campaign for Bracks It says listen the process of leaving the e.u. It doesn't need to be complicated doesn't need to be lengthy I would expect Article 50 to be invoked fairly soon I would think if not before Christmas very soon afterwards you know all we have to do on leaving is say look you can lord Brace's every existing standing regulation that we exist with the European Union over no take those on as u.k. Law here in the b.b.c. Radio Stoke area the ceramics industry is calling on the government to protect pottery firms in any future trade agreements Dr Laura Coen chief executive of the British ceramics Confederation has been speaking we've got a ceramics all party parliamentary group and pays the active and we need them to continue to campaign on behalf of the excellent businesses and jobs in their constituents we've currently got an incredible number of trade deals through the you we can't just reinvent them or overnight it's going to take time to establish that. At a company called the noon mokes they've got around about 90 workers making luxury products which are shipped right around the world Alan Smith is the company's director we are exporting probably 70 percent of what we're making. Probably 50 percent of what we're making is going to Europe particularly in Germany and in France and in Scandinavia we very much speak these markets like home market but of course if Britain leaves the single market or when Britain leaves the single market all via code change what it could mean is tariffs on exports from the u.k. On less deals on the go. On for in some cases an export value. In the short term though Alan has seen a positive impact the really has been led by a little change the only thing that we've noticed is obviously the pound has devalued so that means that it's going to be a little bit cheaper for our customers in Europe to buy our product also we hope and that will have quite a in orders now on the shop floor as it was in Stoke on Trent with 69 percent of the population in Stoke on Trent voting to leave the European Union many of donations employees voted to leave as well I was talking with Murray from the start to the Scots to challenge the body is going to be safe to manipulate the thing to make me feel way some more details before we see from. Situation where they want. To compete I'm glad you brought up. The people that they believe. We want to hear from you as well in your thoughts on where we are 10 weeks in. Ages. Are things moving fast enough do we need to crack on and get they sought it or if you voted leave does it not matter when it happens as long as it does happen because I've heard one day we talked about kind of the tail end of next year before he comes about and he will it's fine as long as it happens that's founded Ok when it happens when I hear from you the government is going to be beginning negotiations with the e.u. For new trade deals and they'll have to do it in every single area so cars steel and ceramics and the problem in the moment is as we've said right now there is not a single vision as to what a post Britain could actually look like and that's why it's a reason why I was under an awful lot of pressure at the g 20 because the world leaders Barack Obama and you know Japan were all saying so how's this going to work and she had to honestly say. I don't really know. Let's say from you are 17822 All right double All right there's more on this story as well inside out West Midlands if you get your t.v. Pictures from Birmingham that's going to be tonight on b.b.c. One at 730. 50 minutes past I now smoke it in the morning b.b.c. Radio Stoke the latest news headlines for a Monday is Chris King stuff which is ceramics in the streets calling on the government to strike a deal to protect. The u.k. Leaves the e.u. The prime minister's question the effectiveness of a points based immigration system for e.u. Mind grins and in sports other than the law in a spat England's blushes with an injury time strike some guy says rain started with the one nil victory over Slovakia thanks very much Chris looking at the weather rubbish this morning little bit sunnier this afternoon top temperature is 21 Celsius 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Who don't get sent as a postcard when you know I place I thought give it to yourself Dave says morning pate happy birthday I. Love you doing a show that's very candid system very very sweet things do you know what was number one when you were born I always thought it was. Rod Stewart and you wear it well but it probably wasn't it was Slade we're all crazy now. Dave says no comment. And I think you said it all to be honest I mean you did a little bit and don't know exactly exactly. The kids Grove says morning this 5th September this year means getting up early after a 2 week holiday in the south of France. There Sharon all posh I'm very tired says Sharon and kids Grove she's struggling a little bit this morning but ask She's a 2 weeks of just doing nothing. For goodness sake so learn to sell flog it's going to our fashion thanks very much Sharon let's hear from you. And want to know what you got up to in your smaller days as well because of course for a lot of people this is 1st day back to work 1st day back at school that kind of thing let's say from you are 178228 double 08 Listen if you're in the car at the moment and you're going to your new school today whether it's with your mom and dad or whether it's with the grandparents or whether it's with you mates or whatever because I can't imagine kids voluntarily listening to b.b.c. Radio Stoke I did. Well if that's the case let me just say this if you go to school today and you'll start a new school with a new group of people a new set of friends and you see someone who was in your class and you don't know them you don't know their name and they. Sound there and there are away from the clique's and the groups and the gangs and the just some their own and they are looking a little bit lost and lonely go out and silo. Because that needs to happen more in schools because it can get too divisive and they can be too many clicks and gatherings and people that set up their own little you know not every kind of gossipy groups and you don't want to be a part of that make friends. And also because if that person is on their own then that's the kind of person that the bullies gravity and we don't want to give any bullies any can't afford old or hand old in the school year because they need to be stamped right out. And go make yourself no right so that off my soapbox b.b.c. Radio Stoke 20 prostates but some of the traffic in travel is a bit of a mare of a morning Max Yeah we have got a little bit of good news they all lanes have reopened on the southbound and 6 between junction 13 for stop at South and Junction 12 Again least that's the good bit but it's still really slow there following an earlier broken down vehicle we've also got slow traffic on the northbound and 6 hours between junction 17 percent and junction 18 for middle age so it's taken Jack 20 minutes to travel in that stretch it so our senses are also agreeing with that it is very very slow heavy you need talks or as well this morning the eastbound a 50 East partially blocked now it's a 5 t 2 pertain because of a broken down vehicle and we've had an accident in Stoke on Trent at the 851000 Fry's wood road that is the a 53 primary road the police are on the scene dealing with that at the moment in Fenton the eastbound a 50 that's very heavy as well all around the back 365 stadium backed up all the way to long to in there and we've got traffic at a standstill on the a 51 between the a 34 and stunned and so there are more temperature after lights as well that's in the sun village itself that is adding to the congestion this morning slow on the southbound a 500 d. Road to portal bank congestion all the way to Will Stanton retail park and we've got the road works starting in Shelton to die. This is on the northbound a 52 bleeps street that's Claes between Copeland Dobbin human leak road but the road does stay open for traffic that is traveling from the leak road into the town center if I've missed anything Nagy think give me a call 01782208 w e thanks very much Max on the way we are doing challenge acres we're in the middle of this at the moment we sent him out about quarter past 7 this morning to find a group of at least 3 people who will sing happy birthday before the end of the show and I think with everyone Vermont to work and school and the miserable weather I don't think he's going to do that I think it's going to be a really tough call on people I would like thing going now he birthday anyway climb bars thing and it's not p.c. To think what it's not the easiest song to sing what it's not the easy songs he is the easiest So it's ridiculously a server. When you go high and screech to star lol that's not so with you I've never found it I've never struggled singing happy birthday we've not tried our dinner. We're still cut short find out exactly how John's going on right about well just after 10 to 9 this morning keeping Staffordshire and Cheshire on the move with Travel News every 20 minutes this is b.b.c. Radio Stoke. 23 and a half minutes past 8 is Morgan in the morning on b.b.c. Radio Stoke Monday the 5th of September today is the day that M.P.'s will debate calls for a new bricks it vote and of course we'll have more details on that just in with politics for a 2nd the labor m.p. Keith virus will announce tomorrow or later on today whether he'll continue chairing the influential Commons home affairs committee after the Sunday Mirror published allegations that he had hired male escorts the 15. One year old who is married with 2 children has criticized the newspaper for printing the story the labor m.p. Chalker Muna sits with Mr Vaz on the Home Affairs Committee he says that members will have to decide on the best way forward when you see things like this plastered across the front pages of one national newspaper in every single national newspaper I think today you just feel terribly for his family I've met his children and I can't imagine what the family are going through but I think we need to hear from him 1st and we are going to be meeting with him members of the committee tomorrow now the Sunday Mirror claims that Keith vows paid for 2 male escorts to visit him at a flat that he owns in London one evening last month critics have accused Mr Powers of a conflict of interest because his parliamentary committee oversees issues like prostitution and drug laws while others argue that this should be a private matter is the gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell as far as I can see he has not broken any laws or caused anyone any harm and there's no allegation of hypocrisy buying sex in this country is lawful Keith has a strong record of supporting gay rights he's never gone tub thumping in terms of supporting family values so I find it very difficult to see any public interest justification for that intrusion into Keith Vaz his privacy. In a statement Keith said it was deeply troubling that a national newspaper should have paid individuals who acted in this way this was the reaction of voters and he's less the constituency he's a public figure so obviously should be careful about what he does but then private life his private life his person as well so anybody's entitled to their own social life which is to wait for him in the election came. Probably yes yes I mean he's doing the right things for the community then why not be so that. When it came to court in the round here definitely specially in the Asian community thing there frown upon things a lot more generally with foreigners or use married anywhere to kids and that's for him to this is his private life. Talk about now Ok fine has spoken but only to say that he's referred the allegations to his solicitor who's considering them carefully the Sunday Mirror says it stands by its stories we'll keep you up to date with that story as more developments continue here a b.b.c. Radio Stoke 26 and a half minutes past the. Morgan in the morning b.b.c. Radio stand. So strictly of course kicked off over the weekend it was the pairing up episode this is you know where the professionals and the celebrities get paired together a local dancer a.j. Pre-charge got paired up with the gymnasts Claudia pony who is just the tiniest woman I've ever seen happen yeah I mean she really is I mean she's just if you because at one point she was stored in front of Greg Rutherford. Genuinely Greg she looked like his daughter she's just so telling me these gummies What's 641 I think 6416 So I mean it just kind of she kind of came up to his belly. It was just ridiculously good honor but I think that's going to pour in a good position Oh absolutely I mean they they nicknamed him anyway the Pocket Rocket really Yeah and she's a she's type powerful she's small and powerful so I think she's going to do you wow yeah I think I think she will. And the thing is just wrong we break off with a Great British Bake Off after the 1st proper strictly show because that was just the pairing one you nailed your colors to you know to a particular contestant and see how to get on a lot in the papers this morning being talked about Ed Balls the former M.P.'s and the former chancellor former shadow chancellor as well. Who. Is appearing on the show and made his appearance in the group dance as well nor. Great. I thought you do Ok because we're only blogs about him in the past and then I mean this isn't going into his pocket you know what I regard Strictly I don't care what his politics are I care about County dance and he throws himself into the thing which is exactly what he has bought because I know something else that you did was he decided to learn the piano quite late on in life because old is in there $49.00 and he decided to learn the piano and then I think you played the on so that the Daily Politics Show it might be b.b.c. Breakfast or something like that. And he wasn't brilliant he made a couple of mistakes but who good on year for just having a crack at this and exactly the same with this I mean good on everyone was taking part yeah he wasn't right it was a bit down down see he think he's going to struggle I really do think that he's going to be a little bit you know we was have the comedy. Aspect. And I do think that's what he's going to be really Yeah I think it's going to be the death of well now is out so you are things going to the door for you I think it's going to be Robert Renda. Children I think he. Is going to be the comedy character where they're going to I tell you now in the 1st 3 weeks he will be in judge's robes and wig with you know the gavel and everything oh of course he will and they'll be having his little wooden hammer and do not tell you know a bit of a theme but all of a lace. And I just got state just. Knows that. You know you got a little darling would number exact like a little number that's fine. People today was stricken by all means you can get in touch as well give us your thoughts on what you thought because they did do a group down I mean they were paired off and then they did a group dance and yet a group dance show threw up some interesting interesting images you can catch and I play is going to be there for the next few days you check it out b.b.c. Radio Stoke 20 minutes and on. The bus have a look at the traffic and travel marks what's going on it is looking a lot better out there at the moment but we have still got very slow traffic on the southbound m 6 all lanes did reopen for a little while but lane one has been shift again that's because of the broken down lorry that's causing really slow moving traffic between junction 13 for stuff at South and Junction 12 for Gailey also very slow as well on the southbound m 6 much heavier than normal junction 19 for notes for it so he's in the roadworks areas well that's not going to help and the rush hour congestion made worse by the breakdown and then we've got in Brindley forward the a 5 to 7 Tunstall right there's a report of an accident that's taken place police are on the scene and then we've got this road we're taking place in Shelton that starting today on the northbound a 52 street that's. The many years later my obsession with this October. Thing. Doctors insurance and everything. So how did this come about well I don't really know because I think it must have come down to a massage. See dads can't be trusted. Not all those years ago now well it's only because my wife when her dad went to register her he couldn't remember the middle name they decided on so just pick the name of his 1st girlfriend. Exactly this is what I mean dads can't be trusted to register kids because the law was makes a mistake and with you I mean to be fair it's played well into your hands Betty. Because I may not like some attention to it. Because you know how to even mention but do you do you have do you genuinely have 2 birthdays here. 19 of September the president. Excellent stuff keep getting in touch I won 7 nights to a white double I will catch up with John acres in the next 15 minutes and see how he's getting up at the moment it is 40 minutes to 9 hold it in the morning let's get the latest news headlines is Chris the recalls for the government to protect stuff that makes industry when it negotiates Britain's exit from the e.u. The Prime Minister's cast doubts on the idea of a points based immigration system after breaks it and in sports token England goalkeeper Jack Butland will undergo a minor operation on his ankle later thanks very much Chris we'll hear from the Weather Center kind of the weather center in a couple of minutes give you the headlines though this morning Sunny this afternoon top temperature 21 Celsius 70 degrees Fahrenheit. I came in from work and they were all standing in front of the back door and they were saying. That. We really don't know don't know so I opened the door. And there. Was an owl and it was you know one of the wall like. You know what kind of a. Weekday from full time with the police on and he was trying to rounding up the day's events whatever they threw she. Carries it out and let it go and that's. When. She went on b.b.c. Radio I've never Yeah I'm quite looking you most about living out in the sticks you must be in your arms flown in. Oh yeah yeah definitely and also I've got to well I used to have a proper like just mark on the window in the shape of the bird when it literally just. And then it just I mean it was still alive days and then just slid down and then I shook itself for a while and then flew off again but I think just literally yes I did the wings out you know like if you would in a car do you. Want To Leave It could also. I love it I have got a bit of a thing about birds I'm not. So if you know how I don't have as much anymore but you know if you went around your house and again this may not have happened when you were living in Portugal but people would have bogies as birds as yes this is fine but they would let them out the cage to just fly around wherever they want and sit on your dad or sit on your shoulder and I can we went to see our not only going out with Jack and we went to see her around and here on the June had. About Jini that likes to kind of fly around and perch and it was all I could do not to grab it and throw it out the window because I don't I just don't like the idea of Stockport of me had any rights to it spot this afternoon from 4 on b.b.c. Radio Stoke listen we mentioned earlier on today is the day that New Zealanders have had a poll done because they had a referendum round about the same time. As the e.u. Referendum talk about whether or not they want to remember parts of Britain their poll says 59 percent of New Zealanders want to sever Tully's with Britain and have a New Zealand as their national figurehead so not the queen. And this is what it was a few years ago is about 44 percent so I was going to quite significantly what they also want to do is get rid of the there for. Black which of course at the moment has a design that incorporates the Union flag and they want to change it for one that is a silver and black fern which is kind of become the symbol of New Zealand which I get and that's fantastic. But this is just the line in this story here says that the thing that's turned off New Zealanders was the bricks that vote right also the official visit by the Prince of Wales in the duchess of Cornwall last year. So they went to visit what they did exactly what do they do while they were there for people to go. Oh no we don't want any part only these 2 Ah but we don't want to be part of those that come for the 1st time we've seen a picture of Prince Charles for goodness sake So yes so there we go so New Zealand may well be. Seeding as well right 10 minutes and I'm off to the weather center the busiest woman in weather this morning it was covering all bases because Charley sleights a as apparently rang in sake of a almost like 40 dollars for a weekend isn't it was it in the thing where do you think it was kind of a lay off the edge of the bed with his face upside down so he sounded like the old We've all done when that's not just me that's just not a plus but to school days yeah I remember once putting my face on the radiator and then like you have really got to time it well you've got to leg it very quickly in order for it to stay with someone went to the school she showed up close on the. If you like you know exactly my mum was exactly the same as. Well the crowd going to get to school you'll be fine. Looking out the window doesn't look too good outside the front of b.b.c. Radio Stoke at the moment weather looks of that miserable is going to get better as the day goes on when we all get a hold on tightly to a lot of the clouds. But any bits and pieces of drizzle should mostly clear so it's cloudy it's misty and it's a Mickey cross stuff which in Cheshire. And I like to say as we head through that we should lose some of the. Can and bits and pieces of drizzle mostly clear but you are going to hold on to all of the clout with temperatures around about 19 degrees $966.00 in Fahrenheit and because there is a lot of moisture in the eye you can't rule out the. Rain from time to time but on the whole most of those will be dry through this evening it's going to be very humid very muggy Tonight 18 degrees will be the. Sleep with where the mist and mix and again could give a little bit of drizzle tomorrow Well we do start to import drier air so we got a better chance of seeing it brightening up with breaking into the afternoon with some spells of sunshine and where we do temperatures are get to around about 2022 degrees settled conditions will still chasing amounts as we head through Wednesday lovely sunshine developing for Thursday and then the breeze starts to pick up and we start see the temperatures just dropping off as we head through Friday. All right Ok Listen I'm going to lay Crocs I know you've got to you've got crack on at 9 o'clock you're going to move off and do all the things that.
